[Q] Heimdall Restore to Stock - Stuck on Samsung - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I followed the instructions and ReadMe and flashed everything at once on Heimdall Frontend. Now the phone is stuck on the Samsung loading screen, and trying to get into recovery is no good as it just sits on the samsung screen. The only thing I did not flash was the PIT as when I selected it it turned the start gray.
What is causing this??

Another thing is that I just plugged it in to give it some juice and noticed that the battery indicator is not moving and just remains frozen like it is trying to load the little wheel inside the battery.

What OS are you on?

Why not just use Odin?

Because when I tried odin it kept hanging on recovery.bin, and then I tried it on my laptop and the same thing would happen.

[Q] Phone not detected in Odin

I have CWM 3.0.8, and want to get back to the red recovery, so that I can flash a new rom on my fascinate. The problem is, that I can not for the life of me get my phone to show up on Odin. I have tried on two different computers. I have used Odin on both computers for this phone, so the drivers are all installed. Any ideas? The rom I have now is a force close nightmare. I would like to get back to something that is stable.
Thanks for any help,
Brad

Ive used odin before, I just cant get the fascinate to be detected by the computer. It wont even mount the sd card via the usb cable to transfer files. I got the phone in download mode, connected to the computer through the usb cable, but can not get the yellow "added" dialog in odin so that I can flash the .tar file...
Thanks for the help so far,
Brad
Maybe a stupid question but do you have Odin open before you plug the phone in.

You can also try to reinstall drivers or even odin check to see that you have odin 3 1.3 and maybe reinstall odin it can be found here in one of the forums.
I have tried it both ways, going into download mode, then opening odin, and first opening odin, then going into download mode.
Now, I have another problem. I was able to do a data wipe, which stopped the force close loop. I was then able to get my phone workable at least. Then, while resetting everything, I dropped it on my coffee table and the touch screen will not respond. The phone's soft keys work fine and i can turn it on, but have to do a battery pull to turn it off. I have tried turning off/rebooting, and again doing a data wipe. I don't know what else to do other than take it in, but I don't think that is possible since it is rooted

[Q] I think its gone :(

I flashed Trigger onto my Vibrant, all seemed well. ROM Manager was FCing, so I reinstalled from market, installed recovery from within ROM Manager, rebooted, went into the regular android recovery. Rebooted again, now it doesn't want to boot. Just loops at the Samsung Galaxy logo (after the vibrant, the little "movie" that plays after the Vibrant logo)
Stubborn bastard won't go into download mode, COM9 shows up in Odin, but it keeps looping the intro thing. If I try to flash, Odin just says SetupConnection and stays there.
Will a JIG do anything at this point?
I will admit, I got too eager and may have flashed a gingerbread ROM on top of a froyo bootloader. >.> I admit, that was stupid, but now all I want is to get the damn thing back into download mode...
It's not bricked. Probably just in a boot loop. Just need to play around and get into download mode.

that doesnt make a difference, i've been on simply honey like 2 month on froyo bootloaders and works fine apart from rainbow on boot and not being able to see recovery

That happened to me before, I used and tried a different cable and got into download mode with functioning odin. Also, try removing battery, then put the battery back in. then with pressing volume up and down with power switch plug in usb. Hope this helps. Vibrant is hard to brick.

It is not dead yet, follow the steps as follow thread to go back in beginning and flash rom you want again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Depending on which version of ODIN you are using the sequence works best like this:
1) Get the phone into a download acceptable mode with use of a usb cable (JIG is most appropriate)
2) Have ODIN running BEFORE connecting the phone
3) Now connect your phone and attempt the flash. Version prior to 1.7 were extremely picky with following this sequence. As of 1.7 POST ODIN seems to not bug so much the sequence of when the phone was plugged in.
Report back with your results...

1) take your battery out
2) plug your phone a laptop/desktop
3) hold volume up and volume down + put the battery in
...should be in download mode...I am assuming u have a froyo bootloader...
If that don't work then on step three instead of holding both volume buttons only hold volume up..that works for GB bootloader...

[Q] [ROM][ICS] Gummy for Fassy 0.7.2 HELP!!

So I have previously used a rom on my phone and I didn't like it, so I decided to try Gummy for Fassy 0.7.2. I wiped my data, etc before the installation of the .zip. I ran the FassyGum0.7.2.zip as instructed. In recovery I could see that it was installing as it should..then it rebooted to a loading screen that shows Gummy and a scrolling dots as though it is loading/installing something.
Well the next step according to the dev of the ROM mentions that after installing FassyGum0.7.2.zip that I need to install ModifiedGummyGapps.zip. Well due to this loading screen that hasn't gone away in over an hour I can't run the second .zip. I have tried to hold the power button to recycle the phone...nothing happens. I pulled the battery, and turned it back on and held the correct buttons to try and get it back into recovery...nothing it comes back to the Gummy loading screen every time so I can't even recover to an old ROM.
Any Advice??
Cheers
Sounds like you need to use Odin to go back to stock, and then re flash a recovery and try again

The problem was you didnt flash teamhacksung build 1 or 2 first before flashing gummy...if you need proper instructions for flashing ics roms look up section 4 of my guide in general section.
I'm having a similar problem, except after it was stuck in a boot loop, I attempted to odin it, which froze and then led to more problems. Currently all I can do with my fascinate is get it into download mode. But, it isn't recognized in odin or heimdall, or windows. It shows up as unknown device in device manager. Uninstalling/reinstalling samsung drivers hasnt helped. I also installed Android SDK with Google Driver Package to see if it would help but it didnt. As of now I'm not sure what the next step should be as i can not odin, heimdall, recovery, or boot it. I am on Windows 7 64bit.

[Q] So what kind of brick do I have here?

I was in the process of flashing back to GB in ODIN when it froze on flashing the Modem. Now the phone does nothing. Black screen. Plug USB in and computer doesn't know its there, Download mode will not work, nothing works.
Will a usb jig get it back into download mode so I can try flashing again or is this thing straight gone?
Thanks.
Yes, a USB jig will work.

Well I built one and tried it... No go. Nothing happened. Blank screen.
BTW the battery was fully charged right before it bricked so I know the battery isnt dead.
Was the phone on when you plugged it in?
I fixed it. Had to do the Unbrickable Mod. Was a pain in the butt getting the contact pads jumped. Once I got it I was able to get into download mode with the supplied programs and flash back to stock.
Nicely done.
Well I jinxed myself. I went to flash a new ROM and now im stuck on the Samsung Logo. Using the previous method does no good. Just stuck on Sammy logo. I found a different Heimdall One-Click now but it fails to flash Modem and now it vibrates 3 times when the sammy logo is shown.. over and over... so its in a boot loop I take it? If I 3 finger it it shows the stock recovery but I am unable to move up or down in recovery. It just stays on the reboot device selection.. im able to select that with the menu softkey thats it. The vol up and down and power buttons do not respond in recover. Updating the Modem is what started this whole mess for me. When I originally was flashing this the other day ODIN froze on flashing Modem, that put me in a hard brick state requiring me to do the Unbrickable Mod. I got it out of that with ED05 Heimdall Once-Click but since then I have not been able to get it out of this soft brick. My galaxy just wont let me win. :-(
Have you tried using One-Click Resurrector?

Ya, thats how I get it into Download Mode... its the Only way I can get it into download mode actually.
Both Odin and Heimdall are having trouble flashing the phone in windows. Both recognize the phone and connect but will not flash anything. They just sit at uploading PIT/Setting Partitions.
The ED05 Heimdall One-Click in linux flashes the phone with success's accross the board but the phone just sits there on the samsung logo... no vibrating, no recovery, and unable to charge the battery. If I use the EH03 Heimdall One-Click in linux it will flash all the way til it gets to flashing Modem but then fails and the phone is stuck in bootloop on the samsung logo vibrating 3 times over and over. It can also get into the stock recovery but im unable to move up or down the menu. Volume buttons have no effect. The phone will now charge though. Full battery as of right now.
I tried using Odin and Heimdall on another windows computer and they will not move past setting Partitons/uploading PIT either. SO I know there isnt a conflict with my computer.
I would like to try a manual flash in Heimdall Front-End in linux but I have no clue how to install it in Linux. I hate that command line stuff. I guess I have to figure it out though if Im going to try it.
OK, success!
I am now back to stock. I was able to run Heimdall in linux and flash CWM recovery. I was able to get into the recovery and make selections in recovery with the volume buttons. I selected reboot in download. I went to Odin and tried flashing a stock EH03 rom and it worked.... I think the reason I couldnt do that before was because i was holding the power button down to keep it in download mode since that is what is required when in download mode via the unbrickable mod.
The windows based programs must not have liked me holding that power button. Weird. Anyways its working.. now on to getting this thing updated.
im having a similar issue, i can get into cwm, can use download, but when i try using Odin for the stock eh03 it instantly says all threads completed succeeded 0 failed 0. when i reboot in cwm it just takes me to samsung logo wont go any further
Try heimdall.
Ya Heimdall in linux will surely give you a win.

[Q] Vibrant Stuck Continuously Loading Boot Screen

I recently tried flashing back to stock (JFD) from a CM 2.3.7 rom using Odin 1.7 and a 512 pit file. However, along the way I encountered many problems. For starters, the phone currently does not load past the vibrant boot screen; ergo, I can't call or text. During the process of flashing the stock rom, my phone had an error saying, "data wipe failed." Then my phone went to the Vibrant boot screen, which proceeded to the battery animation, instead of the usual T-Mobile boot screen/sounds. If I pulled the USB and pressed the power button, the phone would then proceed to continuously loop through the Vibrant boot screen.
The phone is most likely bricked right now, and I don't know how to fix it. I tried looking elsewhere and found people talking about flashing a "Eugene 2.2," but I have no idea what or where to find this; can anyone help?
I went on to use AIO Vibrant Toolbox to try to restore to stock, but that persistent error keeps coming up. Halfway through the ODIN process, I can see my phone's screen show a bunch of words, scrolling up. Among those words say, "Data wipe failed."Afterwards, the phone loads the Vibrant boot screen and battery animation; ODIN says SUCCESS, although I know the flash didn't work. I have reason to believe this is why my phone isn't flashing properly?
Hope this will get you straight.

Try using Heimdall One Click from this thread.
This probably won't help in your case, but try pulling the external sd card if you haven't already. Pulling the external sd card has solved a few boot loops for me in the past, but they were related to a new rom install.
