[Q] vibrant vs Fascinate - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My buddy saw my SC 2.9.2 voodoo Steel blue fascinate last night and is dying to root/theme his. Is there much difference in rooting his vibrant from my fascinate? I looked through the vibrant section and it seems like its very similar, but wanted someone that may have done both let me know what they think. Anything to watch out for?
I have been flashing every SC rom since 2.3 and went to voodoo, but since its not my phone, just want to make sure.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Are you sure you don't have the I9000?
If you want stablity.....go get Nero V5...its based from the new KA5 Froyo leak.....and Team Whiskey's ROM's are always tweaked to be lightning fast with the VooDoo lagfix...heres the thread...

stablity? thats just a wrong question.
ALMOST, if not all froyo roms are stable.
some recommended roms which are the most popular, and made by the most popular devs.
1- Axura, by Master(the guy who replied up there)
2- Nero, by TeamWhiskey
3-Ginger Clone, by Eugene
all of them are stable, and not ordered in any specific reason.
Well since I just got the xda app going. It says I have a sgh t959 pretty sure thats a vibrant. Unless the box I got it in is lying to me. Thanks for the suggestions guys Ill look into them.

I would suggest reading up on voodoo and learning all the precautions needed to be taken when flashing a rom included with it, and also keep this link handy:
http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
Will come in handy if you mess up
Nero W/Voodoo. Highly recommended!
Most rooms with lagfix, will have problems doe to lack of journaling. You will start loosing files, one icon, etc and you will have to be reinstalling ofrever (start checking the lost.dir in SD Card, and you will find how the files start to pop up there.....
I personally use the stock updates (jk6 now) and is running great no lagfixes necessary. I do run a alternate launcher, and there are a lot of flavors around, although Zeam is my favorite.... Higly customizable, free, light and fast.........
Nero 5 cured my GPS! Honestly.
and fast too with voodoo
Very simple. Just go to settings-> about phone

I also have an unlocked and rooted T-Mobile Vibrant up here in Canada and am having a hell of a time getting the GPS to work. I also have trouble with phone reception. I have read everything I could find and even managed, when I was visiting the US, to get a guy at T-Mobile to put a sim card in my phone so I could download the samsung gps restore app that's not available in Canadian market. Tried Lbs test mode, GPS test and all sorts of variations on those solutions to no avail. My phone is hardware locked.
At this point, I am seeking advice.
1. Should I attempt to remove the hardware lock first in case anything I do bricks my phone?
2. Will flashing to the J16 modem solve the GPS (and phone reception) problem? (I am currently on 2.1)
3. Should I just flash one of the 2.2 ROMS?
Any guidance would be appreciated as this is the first android phone I have tried to hack.
EDIT: I gave up out of frustration with poor phone performance and flashed Nero ROM from Team Whiskey. AWESOME! GPS works! Phone reception - more bars, less drops! Bluetooth works better! Where's the donate button? Take my money! Take it! Oh yeah, I don't have any... but I leave you what I can! Great stuff.

[Q] Tired Stock Vibrant

Look, Im tired of this stock Vibrant. With the t mobile froyo update it has made me want to customize even more. I have rooted the phone but that is it. What do I need to do to get the Latest and Greatest, Fastest Rom onto my phone. I am new to this so is it hard to do? I am pretty savvy when it comes to computers so i think I can handle it. Let me know. Rom/lag-fix/Reliable/not disappointed Thanks!
NC here too.
Read my guides if needed. I would flash bionix-v or axura's latest.their both very stable/fast.
Beings that I have updated to "official" froyo through keis, is the process the same as in you walk through because that was referring to eclair. Thanks Also Axura looks sick! Which rom do you prefer?

Does this guide apply to a vibrant as well?

I am just nervous trying something new to different android phones, seems every device I've modded had a different way of going about things.
I used it on my G2 flawlessly, now I wanna do some modding on my Wife's Vibrant. I've got Voodoo and Axura on it now, may be checking out Bionix here in a few minutes but ya. I'm confusing finding a good rom, I'm used to Cyanogen lol.

[Q] Im a Naked Girl!!! ... Nah, But i do Have a Noob Question

*Noob alert!!!* Ok, now that ive gotten ur attention that im a loser who lies about girls and that i dont fully know what im doing... Not just here... but in life, but i digress...
My statement and question is... Ive been doing alot of playing around on my Galaxy T959. Its been great! I went from first time rooting, flashing roms, kernels and modems.. Sucess the First try!!.. (Very Nice! #1!!) and I owe everything to everybody on here cause you guys rock... (Enough of my a$$ ki$$ing)(for now)(I think).. Anywho, I thought I flashed Bionix v 1.3.1 on my phone. After tryin kernels in this order i flashed; Overstock then Dead Horse then Dow Then back to Overstock because for some reason or another me got scared with 1.4ghz(to much pressure on my mind).. Now that I flashed back to overstock, my phone info says my "Build number" Nero v4 w/ dow 2.2.1 ... But before it said Bionix v1.3.1?!!! Wud eyes doo? Am i missing something here?
Be easy, In school my teachers said the only thing i could retain was water...
P.S. I love you but im not "in love" with you
P.S.P.S I lied, I do love you
ha, got to love an original post.
That doesn't make sense. The kernel wouldn't change the build, are you certain you were on bionix? I don't use it, but I wouldn't think they would have left it saying nero.
You've done a lot, why not just backup and try a fresh rom flash?
Ummmmmmmmm...ahhhhh...Im Prettttty sure?... Bionix Was deffinetly the last rom i flashed.. I think.. Dam it!! I have bad ADHD which is Attention Deficit in High Deff.. I think i was doing like 3245 tasks at the moment of flashing (none i finished).. And now im just as confused as a... well, i dont know... Insert something witty and funny that would explain confusion... But yeahhhhhh, Imma just gonna try a new combo anyways.. I get bored easy, just ask my 13 ex girlfriends from this past month (lies) ok, ok, ok... ask my therapist then... I know my T959 can handle 1.4ghz, Do you know of the sickest most awesome combo that would literaly make my eyes turn into steel? or something that is cool?... Thanks mang
I don't understand your question. And I can't stop thinking about naked chicks. Thanks alot, dude.
Ok so here's what happened. When you flashed DoW, it had a file in there that overwrote the same file on your ROM which identified your build. When you flashed the kernel it copied files to your phone and it had a file in there which changes the version number of the phone. The kernel changed it to say "Nero w/dow" or whatever. Simple as that. Doesn't mean you're running Nero.
Did that make sense?
^ must kernels don't change the build, wonder why dow opted to... Hence overstock not changing it back.

Ill keep doing what ive been doing for 6.5 weeks then... totally ignoring my parents my brother my sister my girlfriend my teachers and society as a whole(i would of also included my work as well but, come on... Ive been doing that for years) just so I can read keep reading the forums all day and all night long untill I have the bestest, fastest and coolest phone in the world.... But with a empty phone book because I would of lost all my friends at that point.. And that my good sir is why there is free mobile porn.
By the way... Im honored that you replied to my question!... It took me a sec to realize it was you who wrote the Noob Guide... And let me just say... You have created a monster (with no friends)
Ive done this aswell, dow does that and it will remain there till you flash another rom or reflash the one your on,imo overstock is better than dow,ive noticed occasional overheating, and other minor issues with dow that ive not gotten with overstock
using Bionix V-1.3 w/a Splash of Color

I had this experience as well, not sure why it did what it did. My suggestion is like others reflash back to stock and flash a new rom, try the trigger, Very nice and very fast. STAY AWAY of Running in the 1.4 + speed, the phone just can't handle it without some additional go fast pills to help it keep up. And, since the go fast pills for the phone have not been invented yet, just run it @ 1.3
Good luck-a-roo
Sweet tomatoes Batman!!.. Thats good stuff...Im glad im not the only one... Well... Oh By the way... Have i told u the joke about the broken pencil... ah never mind theres no point... Walka Walka (wanna hear a funny ass joke)- new voice over Fozzie

Find superoneclick (just use the search box). That'll root it instantly for you.
Sent from my GT-i9000/Vibrant.
Yup super one click and make sure your theme is compatible with the Vibrant/ and rom
