I've never been able to install streakdroid on my dell streak due to this issue, and as this is the third time I've spent practically a whole day trying to do it and it still won't work, I figured it's time to ask for some help.
I'm running the stock 02 2.1 build 8105, and the streak is locked to o2. I tried to flash streakdroid using the guide which tells you how to upgrade from the 8105 build, although obviously I used the 1.9.0 zip to upgrade rather than the old one it links to. Everything else I followed to the letter.
Upgrading to stock o2 2.2 via the system update works fine, and the wifi is fine, but when I flash streakdroid, I can't turn on the wifi - it just says error. Wifi mac address is also unavailable, and even after factory resets, cache wipes, and practically everything you can think of it still won't work.
This is extremely frustrating as I'm sure I'm doing it right, and whenever I install streakdroid it's clear how much better it is. Sadly, I need wifi so have to keep flashing back to o2 2.2/2.1.
So, can anyone help me? Has anyone used the same route as me and can upload the exact files they used along with the steps?
thanks.

any idea what can be done. my friend has become very upset.
btw... i tried 1.6 donut and still cudnt obtain ip from dhcp. and it can connect to open networks.
i also had wifi problems with 2.8. I just downgraded back to 2.7 and everything worked again. Try downgrading back to 2.7 with the update.zip
Have you updated the radio on the phone also?
If not, I would suggest that you do. Here's the link.
http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../09-10-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format/
i dont get whats with the radio update and all.
will someone explain to me why is it important to upgrade radio?
shouldnt the ROM be enough?

The "radio" is the firmware that controls the "phone" aspects of the handset, making calls, connecting to internet, wifi, GPS, GSM and lots of other things. Basically all the functions that use radiowaves or are wireless on the phone.
When upgrading to the custom ROMs, always read the instructions. Part of Modaco's posts regarding upgrading state that he would strongly installing the latest radios (through the link I previously supplied). If you don't follow the instructions properly, you're asking for trouble.
Everybody please note: There is nothing wrong with 2.8.
Important is to wipe completely and reformat and repartition sd card. Everything will work.
I have tried just about everything I can think of to get 2.2 on the streak and I finally got it on the device but can't get 3g or data to work as the phone seems to be locked in airplane mode or something and I can't get it out of that mode. I have even tried manually putting in the apn settings and those don't even get saved. I have downloaded the stock rom and recovery and flashed those and then went to 2.1 and then flashed steve's 2.2 version 1.6.1 and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
Got it! Everything is working as expected now!!
Hey Guys,
I hate to ask these stupid questions, but the more I research this, the more I am getting confused. I'm hoping someone can put this in laymans terms for me. I have flashed many windows phones with custom roms, and I've even successfully flashed my Streak multiple times. But I want to make sure I am doing everything correctly and get the most bang out of my phone.
Here is what i know:
I know I got Android 2.2; Dj Steve's Streakdroid 1.8.1; clockworkmod v2.5.0.1 and baseband GAUSB1A130500-US.
What I dont know:
How the phone got rooted, i bought the phone rooted (not sure if that matters)
What does a new version of clockworkmod do for me?
What does a new baseband do for me? Which is best?
Is there anything else that I should install/flash to have better experience?
Issues I encounter...
I have to hard reset my phone atleast once a day... My phone locks up, becomes very unresponsive, input lags, or the touchscreen acts funny and wont let me unlock the lock screen (it reads input, but won't allow me to drag the slider up far enough to unlock). Another issue I experience quite often, when I am in a phone call, and another person calls in while I am hanging up, 9 times out of 10, my phone screen will go black except for the notification bar, the phone will be completely unresponsive, the screen will dim, and then it turns off. I have to hold down the on button and reboot it for it to come back to life. one more issue that I encounter, my music library shows folders, but says there is no music.. but if i look in the directories, they are filled with MP3 files...
side note:
I see people bragging about scores in the lower 2000's in quadrant.... I get AT MAX 1400... most of the time its between 900-1200... wtf
Any help would be greatly appreciated
There are a few basebands lying around
305, 309, 318, 319, 322
I haven't had any issues with speed or reseting on 318 or 341
Ok am I correct in assuming that GAUSB1A130500-US = bb 305?

That version was buggy and was replaced with a later official update. You might want to visit:
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg
on your phone and getting the 318 update. See this thread at dell support.
I've attached a QR code you can scan with barcode scanner to get the update to your phone.
Since you have clockwork mod installed you will have to flash the stock recovery to the phone before you update.
Another option would be to install one of the Streakdroid Roms. I recommend 1.8.1
You may want to do more reading and get an understanding of what you are doing before you do anything.

You shouldn't need to install the stock rom unless you are having issues with 1.8.1.
Installing latest update package
It took me forever and a day, and 4 different computers to install StreakMod on my Streak so that I could do a nandroid backup.
Is there no way to use StreakMod to use the update I downloaded from the Dell site? If not, how do I get back to stock recovery?
Sorry for the noob questions but I am just getting started....

I'm new to all this. What and how do you use the "barcode scanners" I see here and there?

I've spent the past week since getting this Streak reading all kinds of stuff before attempting to update the 1.6 to 2.2
So far I've seen several ways to do it and am getting more confused.

How did you flash and what baseband are you running? I did a factory reset, flashed stock recovery, flashed stock 354 rom, flashed streakmod recovery, flashed 1.9.1, then did a Dell factory reset. Sounds worse than it really is. I haven't experienced your problem (nor other problems posted by other users) and can only assume that flashing over a fresh stock rom install in some way helps.
Did a cursory test of wifi tethering and it seems to work fine.
Paired my old iphone 3g and browsed a bit and no hitches.
Have you tried doing a factory reset? Installing streakdroid leaves all data in place so reinstalling is only half of it

Im pretty sure did the same thing more or less.. i forgot to mention that it used to work until i tried to create a password for users to connect, upon trying to change or enable a wep code, the activity crashed and since then, it gave me errors everytime i try to enable tethering...

Hi All,
Just reactivated my Vibrant on a TMo prepaid plan (don't know if that's relevant). I had it on Froyo when I activated it and it worked fine.
Of course the first thing I wanted to do was root/rom it, so I used Odin to flash back to Eclair in order to get ICS going. Ran through a tutorial by DJ Eddie to get it rooted, gingerbread installed and then ICS Passion. Everything worked fine except I had no mobile network. I tried messing with APN stuff but could never connect. I tried flashing other modems (KB5, KA7?) to no avail..
Since then I've tried going to just gingerbread - no radio, I've tried ExRom, no radio - I attempted Slim Bean but the update failed so I turned to here.
There are a couple posts takling about restoring backup /ecf partitions but I am not Android inclined enough to get that going. I just find it weird that I haven't been able to use anything but Froyo and Eclair and have an active radio.
I apologize if this convoluted situation is simply answered elsewhere, I've tried searching through forums and other sites and can't find a clear run down of the issue and a resolution. If anyone has any advice aside from sticking with Eclair or Froyo I'd really appreciate your input.
Thanks!
