Question about dialing :D - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! for those who remember me, after ONE MONTH! my phone finally came back (because of the defective digitizer)
Well the seller sent me a new phone, and till now, everything is fine, but i got a question :
Well i live in brazil, and when im going to dial someone, those lines between the numbers really bores and confuses me. like this : "1-800-592-5499". i searched the forum and the phone a LOT today and didnt found the help. what i need is one of both :
18005925499 or something like 80-3592-5499 that would like more with our imput method. can anyone help? can be an app, or a setting, dont know
thanks! and im really glad im back!

Glad you got your phone working. Basically, in the USA on the cell phone if you are dialing within the country ... then, the "1" is not necessary just area code and number 2135551212. If you were to use the "1" it is ok 12135551212
When dialing out of the country , then you need to use all numbers like 011554534591254 for example for me dialing Brazil . The dash lines are not necessary but they are put in to make it easier to see the numbers grouped that way.
Hope that helps, Caio

hi! thanks for the help, but what i really want is remove the dashes when dialing, only this

why does it do 44 on txts when its supposed to put +44?

help me please ever since norton 2003 delted my cooked v4.00.11 rom that used to work perfectly i made myself another rom but this was on yorches kitchen using v4,00.05 and i have set the device to uk and right area/country codes in the options of phone book and regional settings.
but when i have a contact stored in the phone as say +44726162121 i click it to add to recipitents for the text and itll do 44726162121 instead of +44726162121 missing the +
anyone figured out about how to sort this becuase its doing my head in.
ive used v4,00.05 cooked and v4.00.11 uncooked but still being stupid
anyone got an answer to this cheers.
gaz
missing '+'
Hey Gaz
I had the same thing with my xda I, each time we tweaked the rom, I started replacing + with good old-fashioned '00'
Annoyingly this has happened on my xda II as well! But I'm told that there's an upgrade to fix this somewhere so there is hope.........
Good luck!
yeah weird thing is v4.00.05 and v4.00.11 never used to do it to me on my other 2 xdas ive had just this one?!?! i updated to v4.01.00 tmobile s/w and it now puts +44 on which is cool but i dont get it coz the old versions used to work the same way too? weird

BROKE : leds, trackball light, buttons and now alarm sound!

So WTF!
Things that stopped working that I have noticed about...
My trackball light
button lights
led lights
And now I'v been late for work for 2 days...and I just noticed that my alarm sound doesn't work...if I go into alarms and pick which sound it does nothing!!!!
Any help about this???
I think if its that broken, maybe you should return it?
Not sure what you did to your Hero....but mine is still in top notch condition.
I just used it as a normal person..will call support
There's already a thread about this, not sure its link, but if you search you'll find it. Seems a few people are having the problem and a hard reset does not fix the issue either.
so no solution yet?
Option is to turn it in...but Im not in favor to loose the phone already for 2weeks and more

Don't know how the rules are over seas (I live in holland) but when I went back with my previous htc diamond
I just got a new one and the old one got sent back to the manufacturer never saw it again.
(I went back to the store after just 4 days so maybe that's why they didn't repair the old oone and just gave me a new one)
So I would call them and ask how their service is, maybe you don't have to mis your phone
Excuse me friends,
i already posted a quest somewhere but no answer so i'll post once again. Could someone please say what the led should do acttually. i've spoken to some members. some say that it doesnt flash for missed calls n text. some says that it should have ...... mine flash only on charge and on receiving mails. (nothing on sms and missed calls.) i just want to confirm whether there is a problem or not before contacting my provider. thanks.
P.S i am refering to the led, not the trackball.

here in germany it depends on the subscription plan. If you have one with a small fee they send it in. If you have one with those expensive business plans you get a new one in 48h (vodafone, dont know how o2, d1 or e+ handle this)...

At least that's what my Hero does

[Q] How can I be able to call my wife again?

Hello, fellow GS2 users! I am in need of help. Unfortunatly, I am unable to call my wife's number anymore (which is a real shame). I am on Cognition 1.30, so I figured I'd restore to the previous cognition where things were fully functioning (1.20). Same thing. I'm not talking about the call going straight to voicemail, as it would do if the recieving end were turned off. When I make an attempt, I hear about a milisecond of the *call in progress* tone, but it then instantly disconnects. I can call other people just fine. It says 'call forwarding activated' or whatever, but it's always said that. Any tips / suggestions? Thanks!
Work out how you did it and post the info, you could make a fortune with this
I would pay

Maybe someone doesn't want to take your calls?..
I had same thing in that when I called my friend it would ring for a split second then cut off, he changed his rom and I was able to call no probs..so maybe it isn't your end that's the problem?!..
Did your wife activate call-forwarding on her phone ? Maybe she redirected all incoming calls to a non-existent number ?
Her phone is kinda wonky... its an x10. I need to put a new ROM on it.
It does sound like the problem is at her end. Check to see if she's accidentally black-listed you, or "accidentally" black-listed you

Try whistling. They are supposed to get you a sammich when that happens.
But yeah, on a serious note;
Try seeing if she's accidentally blacklisted you. And try seeing if the problem exists ONLY between your phones;
(Try calling another number from YOUR phone, try getting another number to call HER, try calling YOUR number from HER phone, and all other permutations and combinations until you get to know where the problem lies)
Thank you all. This thread has been awesome.
try checking if u had install any call blocker or droidwall that can blacklisted some numbers/id
if not do lemme know how you manage to do that so i can have good excuse not to call my wifey when i'm out with friends cycling !
I flashed a new ROM on her phone, which ended up fixing the issue, but a few days later, the same thing started happening.
Can you check whether your number is in her rejected number list?
I'd suggest checking if she blacklisted you.
Seriously, 39482049348 replies with the same suggestion and people are still replying saying the same . Including me, yay!
How does one go about checking that?

sms not reading out names or text

Hi all.
First off a great site here. I am new to android (well not strictly true I did have the Desire when it very first came out and I hated it sold it after a week) Any way I am now converted to Android from Iphone. So I am a complete and utter noob
I have got the the S2 and what a phone, never miss a phone call or antenna problems on this puppy.
So my problem is when I get a text msg it only reads out the number of the person and does not read the actual txt. When I get phone calls it tells me who is ringing. This is a problem for me as I want this for when I am driving. Please help.
I have not rooted my phone yet as I said I am a complete noob. Does not look as easy as jailbreak.
Thank you very much. Look forward to your response and no doubt I'll get told off for reposting but I have looked now for 3 days
This phone can do this? I would like to know how to set this up.. I would love for the phone to tell me who is calling...please tell me how to do this...I am new to the Droid as well...came from BB...

Double press/tap HOME key to bring ON Voice Talk.
Turn ON Driving Mode.
Hit the MENU button --> Settings -->Scroll down --> Voice Talk Settings --> "TICK" Show body of message.
I suppose that should solve your problem
(It sometimes takes a while to read out the message depending on your connection..so plz be a lil patient Cheers)
Not really the same thing. There should be a way in android to have it announce who is calling or just texted you without leaving in driving mode constantly. Symbian used to have this, but I don't believe Android does.

I just use Tasker for this, though some would balk at spending on an app worth 5 dollars for a phone worth a hundred times that =)

[q] help: Samsung galaxy s2 owners

Hi guys, I recently lost my phone and I've filed a police report with basically where the person who found it lives, their SIM card # and etc. They've asked for a serial number which I thought was the IMEI number but it seems that they are different. I only have the box and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me where on the box is the serial number.
If you own a samsung galaxy s2 I kindly as you to please check the back of your phone and your box to see which is the correct serial number?
side of box: oi50.tinypic[dot]com/xb0pqa.jpg
bottom inside of box: oi50.tinypic[dot]com/2q06qa1.jpg
(sorry i can't include links)
Thank you so much for all the help!!

Code bar, one should be the IMEI, the other should be the serial.

Ask Samsung.
Also maybe next time you would consider installing an app like Ceberus. That way when person who finds it tries to unlock it or change sim card it will automatically do things like take photo from front/back camera's, take GPS/mobile data location.
You can also do things like remotely take pictures, vidoes, sound recordings, locations, internal/external sd wipes, make device scream (even when on silent) etc.
