Install Non-Market apps on GingerBlur 1.2

Topic says it all, I just installed Gingerblur 1.2 after flashing then rooting and updating to 1.57 w/root before installing Gingerblur.
Still new to this and was wondering how to install Non-Market apps if possible at all.
just put the .apk on your phone. either via external sd card, usb connection to PC for mass storage, or email it to yourself as an attachment. there are other ways as well.

yeah you gotta enable something called sideloading. Then your good to go! this can be done when you first root using the gladroot method. It will ask you if you want sideloading just click yes! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016060 Actually gingerblur itself will enable sideloading too and if none of that is working for ya try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017373
Thank You guys.
Also when I did root it asked me to install some tethering option and I selected yes because I would like to be able to tether. What did it install during that option and how do I use it.

gingerblur not showing app in drawer...

Just reinstall it from the market once Gingerblur is installed. If you cant, then enable side loading via gladenable and then you can install it from the sd or internal memory granted you have the apk.
Edit: If you paid for it legitimately then there will be no problem getting it off the market again, you wont have to pay for it again. There is a way to pull the apk off, but your going to have to tryout that search button for that one, I dont have time to get it for you as i am at work and should be working lol.
well the problem is that for the atrix the market version of NFS isn't compatible.Only the one that comes pre-installed so I don't know how to get it to work, and being that I already bought the game i'd hate to not be able to use it I really like this game.
Get root explorer and navigate to \data\app. Copy the apk to sd card then move it too your pc for safe keeping while you ginger blur. Move back to sd card and install, phoned must be rooted to use root explorer to pull apk off phoned and sideloading must be enabled to reinstall it.

Assuming you're rooted, couldn't you just as easily use TitaniumBackup to backup the apps and then restore it once you flash the rom?
well yea I am rooted and when I used root explorer to look for the NFS apk prior to flashing rom there was no apk.Remember that since it comes pre installed as a demo with the option to purchase. The only place I was able to find anything NFS was in the pre intall folder wich contaned an md5 nfs file and another nfs fine that was the size of the app itself.
I really should have bought titanium backup maybe I'll flash back to stock and back up and reinstall ROM.....its gonna be a long day
This just dawned on me. On the Gingerblur 4.5 website there is a link to DL the bloatware restorer after gingerblur is installed. I just checked it and NFS shift is included. A CWM install and all the stock installed apps will be available again, NFS shift included.
You should then be able to just copy your save files back into their respected folders and back full tilt again. Hope you get this before you started the process over again.
Actually I just restored NFS,Flash 10.3 and Quick office through root explorer very easy once someone told me where to look, also changed the boot animation and that's all it took was changing some names of file and rebooting and then was all good. Also if you use ADW launcher free you can run gingerblur on landscape on the homescreen.

Installing .apk without SD card

Hi.
I have Chinese Star A5000 phone running Android 2.2.1 Froyo.
The SD card reader is broken, so I don't have external memory.
Is it possible to install .apk applications on it, and how ?
Thanks.
The market doesn't require external storage, but some apps do. You shouldn't have a problem downloading straight from the Market.
Sent from my Evo + MIUI using Tapatalk!
I'm using the Market without problem.
The app I'm trying to install is not in the Market, I only have the .apk file.
use adb from a PC & a usb cable
google install apk with adb if you dont know the code to type, you should find so good info if you read a little
good luck

You could sideload it (install it straight from your pc). It can be done easily with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063073. Just make sure the drivers for your device are installed on your PC.
I've been busy for the past few days, and now finally found some time to try the program.
Thanks, it worked .

[Q] Able to use stock Google apps instead of Motorola apps?

If I were to flash the stock Google apps as an update.zip, similar to what you normally have to do after installing CM7, on top of my stock Droid 4, would it replace the crappy messaging and dialer and browser apps that Moto included?
YES, I did search before posting ... didn't find anything.
This would be so amazing if it worked...
i dont know just try
but however...if ure rooted and if ure using a deodexed rom u might download the gaps for ure phone extract them and replace them via root explorer
it should work
but i cant guarantee it so make a backup of ure existing apps

In Need of Tons of Serious Help

I have Android 4.4 I've tried SuperSu & a few other Root enabling apps but to no avail. The Superuser setting in Dev Settings isn't there. I need to have my device rooted to install a root needed apps & I don't know what else to do.
The tablet also won't let me move apps to the SD Card even though I've tried a few apps & they didn't work. What do I do here?
