[Q] DSP - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why isn't DSP Manager working??

check this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015522
the second post is prob right, might have something with libraries and the kernel...but I'm no expert

It's a very badly needed audio boost, equalizer, compression, etc for your phone audio. Controls phone ear piece, speaker, headset and Bluetooth. It usually comes in cyan ROMs, so it might show up then.

[Q] Popping sound w/ left channel

I first though I blew my car speaker on my left side due to too much bass but I put on a bassy song and there was actually no popping sound. It actually occurs for mids. It is this popping sound and I have tested it on several headphones and it does the same thing. I tried adjusting dsp manage and completely taking dsp manager off but I can't get it to go away. This is all on the default music player.
Hyperdroid 1.7, VBN Clarity ROM, 2.15 radio
EDIT: I should note with some vocals it kinda sounds robotic.

[Q] Beats audio icon with other headphones

Just curious, I noticed my beats audio is 'enabled' and the icon is in the tray with my other buds, and my gaming headphones (using the music app). The deep bass is present as well.
Is that normal? I thought beats audio only was active with the actual beats headphones? Does it just turn on every time you use the music app?
Nope. Any decent headset even car stereos with aux

Beats audio enhancement becomes available when ever the headphone jack is used with a stock Rezound.
Yeap its an an audio setting that will work with any headphones or audio system through the 3.5 mm jack, its just that the sound profile is tuned to match the beatz headphone frequency range but will work well with lots of other brands. The jack doesnt tell the phone beatz are plugged, just that a line out is plugged in, just happens that Beatz tuned it to heat suit the exact range of their headphones.

Now if only they would enable it to be used with blue tooth Headphones.
Also i only works with the music app, wish it would also work with Pandora, but oh well! Makes me music sound great!

Beats Audio

Hi, I can`t say that I`m a fan of beats audio but without it, the phone lacks a bit of bass impact, this is compared to an siii, ipod touch 3g and ipad 2, the volume is also very low without beats with the 4th notch equal to the first on the siii but that is fine since I like listening to my music softly. However whenever I enable beats audio there is a distinct increase in background noise that doesn`t really affect rock music but does classical and such. This is especially annoying in the gallery app where you cannot turn off enhancers but rather choose between htc enhancer and beats with the htc enhancer increasing bass to the point that everything sounds boomy and echoes. Does everyone have this issue with beats and if so how do we fix this?
TURN BEATS OFF ALWAYS.
Beats Audio is just essentially an EQ setting that is being hyped for marketing. To get the best sound, you need to do equalization based on your listening device, ideally at the amplifier, not the source. For example, audio will sound a lot different in your car than in your living room. So you want the source (the phone) to output a flat, unchanged signal, then adjust the EQ (or tone controls) on your car stereo or home receiver to make it sound best.
Now I'm guess you are probably talking about listening to music on headphones which is a different story, since the headphones don't have an EQ. In that case, just use a music player app (like PowerAmp) that allows you to adjust the EQ in the playback software. You could actually save different profiles: headphones, car, living room to switch between them. Problem with that is, then say you are watching a movie in your living room instead of playing music on your phone, then the movie may not sound optimal. That's why it's best to have the source material unchanged and do the equalization at as close to the amplification device as possible.
The only value of Beats is as a fashion statement for today's young people.

[Q] Routing audio through A2DP AND the phone's speaker simultaneously. Possible?

Whenever my phone is connected to my stereo through A2DP, the music is played through loudspeakers only by default. However, when there's an incoming call and my ringtone is being played I can hear it through loudspeakers AND the phone speaker, which creates a pretty cool surround effect. I'd really love to make my music player interact with all the speakers like this all the time. I took my chance installing various apps like SoundAbout to help me figure it out, all to no avail. Any ideas?
Unlikely. There may be a way but it definitely involves some kind of hacking.

no bass over bluetooth audio

Heys guys,
I'm using my Z2 with different bluetooth devices ... such as Sony SBH-52 or with my BMW car audio system. I've also installed Viper4Android, which is working really fine with my headphones and Rocket Player. But no matter what I do, I don't get any bass over bluetooth... I've raised the low level EQ to the maximum, enabled Viper Bass and set the Bass Boost Level, but nothing happens ... it looks to me like the frequencies are beeing cut off ...
Has anyone else had this issue?
just for info ... I'm on the latest stock rom with root and locked BL!
