Question, I'm new to rooting and Cyanogenmod and i want to update from Build 32 to build 33. My question is are there any apps or any way i can back up to import my contacts, apps, themes etc. i have in build 32 to use in 33?
I'm not really looking forward to reinstalling everything and adding in all of my contacts again lol.
Thanks in advance for your help.
You can use titanium backup if you want, though if you manually entered all of your contacts in CM7 and kept the default sync settings, all of your contacts/calendar are sync'd with google and will be downloaded when you sign in to any ROM.
You could also flash 33 over 32, just do a nandroid first.
Okay thanks ill try titanium. Great pens picture by the way!

So I flashed a gummy ics from to my friends fascinate. Had a bit of trouble with the restore, unfortunately losing the contacts. It still runs a bit slow and all the programs lag and force close. I've ran fix permissions countless times. Any suggestions?

Thanks man, I'll try that stuff when I get home. With doing the wipe, if I do a backup of all the apps and app data, doesnt that kind of make the data wipe redundant?

depends on your back up methods. i use google to back up contacts and tibu to back up apps. after a data wipe i just resync goole and restore app only(no app data) from tibu and your back in business.
I always bypass the Google account, to do an app restore first. Only restore the data portion of the apps that are most important. Like a checkbook app, dolphin, Tapatalk, etc. The rest be sure to just restore the app.
One that's done add your Google account and let the contacts sync, etc.

Unreleased Gmail 4.2 APK With Pinch-To-Zoom And More
Ok, guys. Start your engines - here's the download and instructions you need to get the leaked Gmail 4.2 up and running on your device. Keep in mind that this is an unreleased version so some things may be buggy or broken, though I haven't run into any problems.
If you somehow don't know what I'm talking about, we have the next, unreleased version of Gmail, and we're finally allowed to share it with you. Gmail 4.2 finally has pinch-to-zoom, a nifty new swipe-to-archive/delete feature, and a bunch of other things.

I used root explorer to delete the old apk, after copying in the new one. Then I changed permissions to rw, r, r and owners to root. Rebooted and all is well.

Gotta lock this up,the new app is considered warez. Google doesn't want this being distributed.

Honestly I don't even use TIB I have my own backup method which is just as fast and Google installs all of my market apps after I flash a rom so Idk. But I'd assume that if you're not restoring the gapps out of the backup it shouldn't.
Thank you very much.

What do you guys recommend for someone who likes to flash roms frequently for backing up and restoring user apps? I have titanium backup with option to backup user and system apps. Is it advisable to restore system apps after flashing a new Rom? Its such a pain to flash new Rom than try to install the apps from the googleplay again etc.
So any suggestions?

TB for sure. and its not a good idea to restore system apps when changing roms. it will more than likely break things.
RomCleaner and done
I have Rom cleaner, but it won't restore user apps unless they're installed. I've noticed that with some roms, singning into Google account automatically starts downloading apps from googleplay but it doesn't happen with all the roms.

Aren't your bookmarks synced to your Google account?
Also, yes, TiBu does sync bookmarks.

Carbon backup. Easy to use and simple. I use that in combination with MyBackup (for contacts and things like call logs) and it's a very easy solution.
Hey, im looking for a way to backup JUST my apk's and there app data so i dont lose settings or game progress. i plan on doing a clean flash tomorrow
where are the apps/app data folders located?, i was planning on using a file manager to copy the folders to my pc unless theres a better way
i see a few spots where the apps apk's are at but dont know which one is the correct one
Thanks for anyone who can help :good:
(removed)
ES file manager has the option to backup apps and there data
i was trying to do it manually because i didnt want any system settings/Files from the data folder being backed up and restore upon the clean flash.

I think I'd use titanium backup it's easy to restore only the app data. But I know Carbon works to do what you need also.
Thanks I'll look at them both

Have a look at AppMonster. I use AppMonster Pro and love it. And you can set it to back up apps as soon as you download them. I don't think it does the app data though, but just for apps I find it a lot easier on the eyes than Titanium. I use both so depending on what I need I know I'm covered.
Looked at all of them and carbon seems to be the best for my use
