going to install clockwork recovery by mik presently in stock froyo 2.2 rooted with z4root,thunderg 1.2 installed
can anyone help how to procede installing clockwork and what are the things to do before flashing cm7 by mik. I mean what are the options to wipe and stuff as updating from froyo and clockwork user pls help
It is pretty intuitive if you know what I mean.
1. The first step is to flash the zip (signed-recovery.zip) from the Clockworkmod thread like anything else (custom ROM, fontpack, tweaks, etc.).
2. After flashing turn off the phone and turn it one to enter the custom recovery (Power Btn+Vol But. Down+Home But)
3. You're in Clockworkmod now. Everything must be familiar in some way just the order being somewhat different plus a few additions and some features missing.
4. First you may want to backup (backup and restore option). I would recommend to copy everything afterwards from the SDCard to the PC and reformat it (the SDCard ofcourse ).
5. Go to wipe data/factory reset-->wipe cache partition-->mounts and storage-->format /boot-->format /data-->format /sd-ext (only if you had used it before and it's present)-->format /system
6. Now you can install Mik's CM7 build (install zip from sdcard-->choose zip from sdcard)

Hello iam unable to go into cwr 3.0 to flash cm7 , I tried few methods with rom manager ( i.e flashing a file then looking for cwr 3.0 in rom manager/ all cwm recoveries but no luck ) is there any direct update.zip for cwr 3? please help
Thanks
Is your problem that you don't have the clockwork recovery console loading vs the standard one?
What are you flashing from? 2.1, 2.2?
Either I'm misunderstanding or your question is a little vague or missing details, not meant rudely of course.
He is trying to flash CM7.
Dude, you do not need CWM 3 to flash CM7, you need to do this:
1.Make sure you're running a Eclair/Froyo Firmware (2.1 or 2.2) and Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders!
2.Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
3.Do a Nandroid backup!
4.WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
5.Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
6.Optionally install the Google Addon (through ROMManager is easiest)
Click to collapse
You can do it with CWM 2, just put the rom on the root of the sd card, wipe everything and flash.
go into Rom manager premium and choose flash clockwork. Then choose Vibrantmtd, then choose 3X NOT 2X and bam ur done! u have 3x clockwork now and now download cm7 rom. On ur very cm7 nightlie always wipe data and wipe dalvik and backup rom. When u update ur second rom u will only have to wipe dalvik and backup rom. Dont forget gapps!
Guys thanks for ur replies, I am on cm7 but iam unable to install other gingerbread roms , as I watch lot of videos iam missing the Samsung player on cm7, so wanted some leaked gingerbread Samsung custom roms n they need CWR 3. I will be going back to stock 2.1 then root n install rom manager , now how to get clockworkmod 3? Thanks
follow my above post!
Hi,
I'm started to read about roms and Glossary's
Currently now I'm running Trigger 3.2 that based on FROYO.
I.
As far as I understand (and correct me if I wrong) if I want to switch to another ROM (for ex. Project V) (NOT CM7 based rom) all I need to do is:
1. Copy the rom I want to phone (internal \ sd)
2. Ti backup
3. Full backup from CWR
4. wipe data\factory reset
5. wipe cache partition
6. wipe delvik cache
7. Install Zip from SDCard
Is this method cover ALL 2.2 \ 2.2.1 based roms?
II.
Is buying JIG from Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...0497761183?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item20b651b39f) is recommended (Just to be on the "safe" side)
III.
If I want to try 2.3.X based rom...:
A. If I already moved to any of 2.3.X based rom the steps are exactly like in (I.)
B. If I came from 2.3 based:
1. flash with odin to stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087)
2. install GB Bootloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990)
3. boot into CWR and continue like in (I.)
IV.
About CWR - I know that this is a part of Rom Manager, and it have versions too , BUT after\before I flash new rom (2.2-2.3.X) is it recommended to install\upgrade to the lasted version and make "Flash Clockmod Recovery" (all roms came with any version of CWR)
Is those 4 Q\A are correct? (special I\II\IV)
Thanks.
Can someone help and direct me?
Thanks,.
for the 2.2 roms yes u are right, thats a very good step list!
As fo gingerbread i use cm7 so my instructions are different but ill tell u how i install cm7.
Odin to stock
Then root with eclair method of installing update package, recovery will turn from blue to green.
GEt rom manager premium as its the easiest way to do cm7.
Then go into Rom manager premium flash clockwork recovery and choose vibrantMtd and choose 3X NOT 2x. Then go to download roms and choose cm7 nightlies.
For ur very first cm7 nightlie always choose all three wipe data, wipe dalvik and backup rom!
when u update ur cm7 nightlie again u only have to wipe dalvik and backup rom.
Hope that helps
what about flashing from say miui to a jvp based rom? i know they are both gingerbread roms but miui has a cm7 base so im not sure of any extra steps i need to take in order to flash
Hi,
Currently using latest firmware KI3 with root.
I'm able to use CWM, backup, install zips, everything.
However, if i install a ROM trough a ZIP, i get a boot loop.
Only way to get back the phone, it's to install via ODIN with latest KI3.
Even tried with Litening Rom, and got the boot loop.
Any ideas ?
I was very keen to return to CM7.
Tx in advance.
Did you exactly what's mentioned here?
Install via ClockworkMod (do not use ROMManager for initial install):
Make sure you're running a rooted device.
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1118693)
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) - do it for real.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Do not reboot! We mean it - do nothing except choose zip and continue next step (if you come back to us with permission issues in install, we will know you did not read the directions and will call you an idiot). If it just plain hangs, reboot directly back into ClockworkMod recovery and continue at the next step.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery, again (due to a bug in the install).
Reboot
Install the Google Addon through ROMManager which is easiest, but you can
download the gapps.zip and install via ClockworkMod recovery instead.

Did you try flashing a old stock ROM like KH3, root it then try from this base?
I went from Villain ROM 2.3.5 to CyanogenMOD without any problems.
It's essential that you flash CyanogenMOD !TWICE! in a row when you're coming from a stock ROM.
Thanks.
Gonna check, as soon as i'm @ 127.0.0.1
Same behaviour, back to boot loop.
Tanx anyway!
I had a similar problem so here goes my help.
Cf root kernel uses a modified version of CWM that isn't compatible with CM7 or something like that. So what I did was flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693. Get the kernel with CWM 5.x.y.z With that I got a compatible version of CWM and from there I flashed CM7. It is important that you do a full wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format \system, everything so you don't get any trouble. THen you flash the CM7 zip file, when tha t is done, flash the zip again for a second time (don't reboot just do it after the first flash). After that reboot. That worked for me at least.
A tip: If you can't reboot your phone and you have no ROM zip file to flash via CWM you can mount usb storage from CWM for putting the ROM in sd card and flash with CWM. That way you don't have to use ODIN to recover.
Tanx Tomas.
Tried with CWM 5.x.y.z and upon "WIPE" always got an error for mounting partitions.
Could't mount CACHE, SDCARD .....
Tx anyway.
Back to ODIN, back to stock 2.3.5
PS : I have to get a JIG to reset ...
I rooted my device using Gingerbreak.
I have 2.2.2 installed out of the box. I installed CWM. I installed busybox.
Busybox failed. I tried all the versions that it contains.
I checked root status, and RootCheckBasic says I'm rooted.
I installed Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. It will not reboot to CWM.
It only reboots to the standard Android recovery.
I'm trying to install Bumblebee ROM 2.4.
Here are some things I am having issues understanding with it...
Backup current apps and their data with Titanium Backup (available in the Market). Is this required? The phone is new. I have nothing to back up.
Do a nandroid backup in recovery before doing anything else below.
And the nandroid backup is done with CWM? Again CWM won't reboot, only the standard Android recovery boots.
Required if installing BB 2.x for the first time: Wipe. Wipe it all. Data, cache, system, dalvik-cache, sd-ext if you've got it (might need to look under Advanced or Mounts in recovery to do the last two, and while you're there format /system). I assume you wipe it all with CWM while in recovery?
If upgrading from BB 2.3, wipe cache (and only cache) in recovery.
Does not apply to me
If not upgrading from 2.3, install Wiper zip (see below), just to be extra sure that all is wiped. Don't reboot yet. Installing wiper.zip is done by sideloading using adb commands?
Install ROM zip (see below).
I assume this too is done by copying the zip to the external SD, then selecting update from SD card in recovery... right?
Please someone shed some light on this for me.
In standard Android recovery it says e3. I know on my Captivate I had to use Odin to install GB loaders to get it to work.
THANKS!
Flashwork mod recovery? Never heard of it.
Try downloading rom manager from the market and use that.
Everything else should be simple

It's in rom manager.

But I don't get the CWM recovery when I reboot into recovery mode.
I get the standard Android recovery

Oh, okay, um... are you using the reboot into recovery option in rom manager right after flashing?
After flashing what?
I reboot into recovery through rom manager and get:
Android system recovery <3e>
reboot system now
apply sdcard: update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
_________________________________________________________
Android System recovery...
Do not pull out the battery!!
After hitting flash clockworkmod recovery, immediately hit reboot recovery
After hitting anything in CWM it did nothing more than reboot into the standard android recovery.
This phone has 2.2.2 on it. Problem? Probably.
I followed instructions at androidcentral and got it to work.
Needed Xionia_CWMA_12518.6_VM
Installed BACKside-IHO-VM670-11222011
using Xionia_CWMA_12518.6_VM_Recovery-signed
Had a little problem today and needed to activate the phone. BUUUUT......
the rom didn't allow activation.
So I installed Bumblebee. No go.
Then I tried [rom] basic stock rom.
Neither of these will let my phone boot. It gets stuck at boot.
Nothing happens.
I can still boot into Xiona_CWMA. But no roms will work.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

I believe that may be due to the newer display in your phone (I'm new to this device so I dont know much yet). From the little bit of information I've gathered, devices manufactured recently have a different display that requires a kernel that supports it. In the iho roms this is included, on others you'll need to flash a kernel right after the rom.
For the stock rom I can upload what I use if you need it. Its basically the one posted here just with the boot.img swapped with one from a nandroid backup I made before switching roms
I think you're spot on with that idea.
I loaded CM7 variant, and it worked.
My question is, how do I get another ROM on it if it has the newer screen?
I loaded different kernels that were supposed to fix it, but no go.
Can someone help me on getting 2.3 gingerbread with the cyanogen mod on my phone (LG Phoenix). I already have clockwork recovery and everything, i just need the files from someone, ones that work, most of them on the internet are invalid..
go to this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436952
scroll down till you see this rom.
A-SERIES .32 KERNEL, OLD BASEBAND Baseband v10E
download it and put it on root of sd card. ie not in any folders
you will need this kernel as you have a phoenix. p500 kernels wont work correctly.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...-2-08-overclock-cm7-2-3-7-etc-gyro-fixed.html
scroll down and download the attachment. joban 2.08 kernel zip
put it on root of sd card
im not sure how you applied roms, but because rom manager isnt supported on our phones i wouldnt recommend useing it to flash roms.
boot into recovery. i power off phone then hold power, home, and vol-down at the same time, keep held down till it loads into recovery.
do factory reset/wipe
wipe cache(s)
wipe battery stats. this and wipe delvik cache is thru advance option. also you can turn off/on signature verification if your having issues. ie invalid or signature not found.
then choose apply zip from sd card
choose zip from sd card
find rom , choose it
it will ask you again to make sure you got the one you want.
after flash reboot phone.
once booted you will have funky colors, dont worry. turn off phone a boot into recovery.
flash kernel same way as rom. no need to wipe anything though.
reboot and enjoy.
a caution when using rom manager aside from flashing the recovery. other functions have resulted in soft bricks and weird resets.
LG Phoenix running CM7.2+joban 2.08 kernel
hit the thanks button if i helped.
i have to sign up for android central, nd the sign up doesnt work bcuz of the captcha, and if rom manager isnt supported is there another thing i can use
Rom manager is erelavent. Can you boot into recovery? If so then ill get you a link to the kernel.
ya i can boot into recovery, i have backups too
