Didn't know where would be the appropriate place to ask this so I hope starting this thread isn't causing too much trouble. I am on 1.57 rooted and have everything set up perfectly. So would the easiest and fastest way to get where I am now to sbf the oldest version gladroot and then update? Or would gingerbreak be easier I saw that it would erase the sd card and im not too familiar with adb so id need dumbed down instructions

anyone?

New method of root. Find Gingerbreak (check the development sub-forum).
SBF to 4.1.26
Update to 4.1.57.
Gingerbreak
Rom
After the last step though I have yet to find cake....

I read that this erases your sd card though, is it too hard to backup. And all that adb stuff looked kinda confusing though. But if its faster than gladroot id rather do that

It is quite easy to backup. Just plug your phone into a computer USB and connect it as mass storage. Just drag and drop the contents of your SD onto your computer. In addition, you do not need to flash 1.26 then update to 1.57. You can download 1.57 sbf and directly flash to that then use gingerbreak.

I run them from a cmd prompt in windows. You have to make sure you phone is in USB debugging, connected for none, and have the adb.exe from android sdk or other installs (ex gladi or prior themese etc)

It said that you had to have an sd card and that it would wipe the internal sd card I think so I don't think taking the sd card out would do anything. Correct me if im wrong though im new to this stuff

Use the adb install command. It's really easy.
Or you could use astro file manager if your not familiar with adb.
Feeling Vibrant on xda-app
Just plug your phone into your computer, throw the APKs onto one of the memory cards, then go into the file manager that came with the phone and run the APKs.

If he's on XDA and plans to mod his phone, he's gonna have to learn ADB eventually. Better to jump right in it and get it out the way now. ABD install is probably one of, if not, the simplest command. Let's not baby new folks just because they're new.
I dont plan to mod my phone. I just would like to know how to add new wallpapers and widgets from my laptop to my phone.
Just copy the apk files to the sdcard then use the file manager to install them.
Lol, I try to stay away from ADB as much as I can. I always go for the easiest way out.

90% of the time, ADB is the easiest way out. Especially in the case of having multiple apk installs. adb install *.apk will do them ALL at once instead of having to do it one by one.

I would like to point out that to get your Mac to recognize the phone as a USB device USB Debugging needs to be enabled.
Dont ask me, I dont know why, it just does.
Maybe it just mine though. Anyone else?

Gee thanks. I haven't read and/or tried that over 100 times in the last few days.
I'm way beyond that and have gotten it to mount via terminal, which STILL doesn't show up as a mounted drive when I do a df, but I can moves files to it so I guess it *KINDA* works for now.

My USB port of Flyer is damaged, how to restore original rom and back to s-on before I send it for repair?
Sorry for my poor English.
You can remove the sdcard to put files on it and you can use adb wireless from the market. You can also use adb wireless to push/pull files to your sdcard. If you are uncomfortable with adb, you are going to have to get over it because that is your life line at this point.

Anyway, I will try it.

I have tried adb wireless, but it is not work, because the RUU tool only support physical USB interface, not by adb connection, is there any way to unroot flyer by memory card?
I'd be inclined to try out the following guide which is notionally for reverting back to Gingerbread to Honeycomb. You probably don't need to do steps 1 to 5, and probably don't need to use a gold card.

i have the correct format down PG05IMG.zip it runs its course quickly says loading then stops at the hboot main screen.

thanks for your help!
Make certain SD is FAT32 format
Make certain you are putting the file on root of SD card.
Boot into HBOOT from a device that's off, by holding power and volume DOWN.
Absent that working, try another SD you know works and is FAT32 format.
R ur PG files named O5(O, letter) or 0,(zero5) ?
From my Mecha communicator
It sounds like you are doing everything right. I would download the file again and\or try flashing a different file all together.
a buddy of mines thunderbolt would not read the SD card at all. I swapped mine from my bolt and his would not read it.... It was as if the slot had failed.. I ran an exe RUU and it fixed it... so that may be something to consider as an absolute last resort.....
i have ran multiple different sd cards it has worked flashing radios up until this point and now it wont initiate the loading process it just stops working.

Make sure you have the right PG05IMG file. I know someone higher up on the form said pretty much the same thing, but I really think it's true. When I was trying to downgrade my radio (so I could root with Revolutionary), the exact same thing happened to me. I couldn't get it to ask for the update. After a lot of hair pulling and frustrated form-searching, I found out that it was just the wrong radio. The one I used to downgrade was 461.8 MB (to give you an idea of size). Just go to some different forms that explain how to downgrade, then download the PG05IMG file and try it. That's my advice.
Also, if you send me a message, I'll email you the PG05IMG that I used. Best of luck.

I'd recommend doing a Google search of adb and not try anything with it until you understand it. And you could try dvhexers version of faux's kernel to fix the sd card, but you should probably just use his fixed cm10 rom.

You need to make sure sure you have all the Android files installed on your PC which I am sure you do. Also, you need to specify where the pac_tf201 build is located. This is what I did to push the version onto my TF201 in Recovery:
adb push c:/pac_tf201_4.3.Build-1_20131003.zip /sdcard/
I did the same with gapps but I made sure that both zip files (rom and gapps) were directly on my C drive and not anywhere else. Let me know if you need anymore help as I just barely did this a few days ago. Took me hours to get it but I have learned quite a bit from it. :good:
Edit: Make sure your directory is pointed to your sdk platform-tools folder as well in CMD.

This is what I'm curious about too. If there were photos on this SD card before you put it in the device, they will remain intact after a security wipe.
This is unclear to me based on the OP: You got the Bold as a graduation gift and would like to start using it i assume. (I also got this bold a couple days ago after my HTC One S died, bringing me to Blackberry after years of faithful service on Android. The 9900 is a great phone)
When you tried to use the phone, you were prompted to input your BBID credentials, which subsequently failed repeatedly. The phone has since been security wiped due to too many failed attempts. Upon opening the phone, the microSD that you had in there is gone.
