Hello everyone!
New to these parts.
I have been using CM6.1.3 by wolfbreak. I having issues with battery drain. I wanted to flash back to 2.1 and do a clean install. Do I have to do lose root (using SEUS) or can I just flash a generic 2.1 using xrecovery? I ask because I am having trouble getting SEUS to work with my phone.
Thanks!
Cheers,
If you use flashtool, you must erase all data when that option pops up in flashtool. Then yes you must redo everything on your phone like rooting, busybox, xrecovery, and flashing ROMS. So to tell you that.
If you need help with flashtool I can help you. Let me know through another post here. Or other help too.

Sues is the best way. You have to root again plus xrec

You guys are great!
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I am currently with rogers (Canada), and I think I will need to do this through flashtool. Can you guys give me some pointers?
I would love to do it through SEUS but its just not working. When it tells me to put my phone in "flash" mode it doesnt recognize and continue the process.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Flashtool is absolutely the best way. You can flash latest update, root and install XRec from just one interface.

I was wondering what is considered the newest version?
How can i do this in one shot?
Here is a link for a guide to flashtool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10879507#post10879507
A How TO
Download the latest FW update (should be listed in the flashtool thread) then unpack it and put the .ftf file in the firmware folder of the flashtool directory. Then start flashtool and press flash then connect your phone in flash mode (turn off, hold back button, plug in usb) then after the flash tells you to unplug your phone reboot it and turn on usb debugging in settings>applications>development then replug to PC and press root on flashtool then use flashtool to install recovery (not sure on this one I did it a long time ago manually before this was an option but directions should be in the flashtool thread) then you can reboot and enter recovery by pressing back button at first sony ericsson screen and install custom zips you've downloaded to your SD.

Quick question
Is this the newest version?
Sony Ericsson X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC
Thanks.

Thats the link to the flashtool page. Download the latest flashtool and then either 2.1.A.0.435 FW. You might need to flash the dual touch update on that page too but I think it's included in the latest FW.
If you just make sure to follow the directions you can't mess up and if you do everything is fixable. Thats the best thing about modding X10s. Just make sure you go step by step and you wont have any problems.

Odd I am following the root guide, but in flash tools all the root xrecovery clean etc. are all greyed out.
Any thoughts on why?

Do you have the latest version of flashtool, which is 0.2.9.1. Is that what you have? You can check that under the help menu and click about.
You must have 2.1 on the x10 to use all features of flashtool.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2.1 Pure CM Rom from kxhawkins
Yup I have 2.1 on and dualtouch.
I do have the newest flashtool.
I think it might be because my system is 64bit.
This might sound dumb but either you did something wrong, your phone is already rooted with xrecovery, or something is wrong with flashtool.
Turn on phone again and check for the superuser symbol in your apps section. If you have root, check if you have xrecovery installed. Do these things then post again.
I definitely no longer have root access or xrecovery.
I will redownload flashtool and see if this does anything different.
Do I need to install busybox?

Yes to busy box.
Here is the link to redownload flashtool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Busybox is installed with Recovery. I believe that the root procedure is done with the phone connected normally and not in flash mode, so if your trying in flash mode that could be why. I seem to remember having the same thing happen to me the first time I tried it but toyed around a bit and figured it out. If you can't figure it out search through the flashtool thread and see if there is a solution.

hi There
PLEASE HELP ASAP I THINK IV BROKE MY BELOVED X10
Im new to all this Mod stuff and i have no experience at ....... But I LOVE this Theme i found , its amazing!!!!!! so i rooted my phone using super oneclick, i then found RECOVERY, also got the theme [X.Gbread for 2.1 Official ROM 2.0.2.A.0.24 + Battery Circle] [new-v0.6]
Installed everything it all and was great!! everything went smooth, but some things were missing on the theme like the new swipe button, the wallpaper, the new clock etc so...... i then installed a previous version [X.Gbread for 2.1 Custom ROM AOSP], thinking that version had the bits i needed and the later version i installed first was a add-on, and now the phone will not boot up, it gets past the Sony Ericsson but wont boot past the Nexus S Bootanimation, then it restarts itself, and starts all over again, i dont know what to do as i know NOTHING about flashing phones. PLEASE HELP
Phone specs - what i had before
X10i
2.1 Update1
build no. 2.0.A.0.504
Rooted with SuperOneClick
Also busybox
Many Thanks
Leon
************* update i can get the phone to the Xrecovery screen, ive tried reinstalling both of the themes but it gets to the lock screen and when the lock comes off, a box comes up with a triangle exclamation mark on it that says 'Weeks' on it and underneath it says "year" with a button that says "%1$s %2$s" and when you press it nothing happens apart from sometimes the writing year changes to years, after a minute it reboots and does the same thing.
does anybody know how i could sort this out???
Have i 'bricked' the phone?? if so what does that mean and can i sort it?? would i be able to send it in for repair??
or how i could i flash i back to the original SE theme, with out it starting up????
hopefully somebody can save me because at the moment i have not got a phone and i love my x10 sooooo much!!!!!!
i knew i should have just left it alone!!!!!!!!
Thanks Leon
i would recommend you to do
1. a full wipe using the recovery
2. re-install the theme u wanted. (perhaps u should re-download the theme u wanted)
btw, did u install using the option "install custom zip"?
if those above does not helps,
1. re-install the firmware using SEUS or flashtools from Bin4ry
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201&highlight=flash.
2. root it and install xRecovery and then install the themes u wanted.
You'll have to really flash. The problem here was that you mixed up to FW (.24 & .504) when you installed the first theme... it clearly says for which version it is my friend....
So reflash to any ROM you want but check first the theme you're aplying and also if you have Xrecovery do a backup before any Mod so you don't have to reflash again...
Have fun you're not the first nor the last with this I've been there done that more than once....

did as told to wipe dalvik cache
Now phone can access xRecovery, but cannot boot, it took one day.
Any Ideas?
ALso for extras, i am wanting to install Jereplea's cm 7.0.2 (2.3.3) ROM, but it is in .,rar format, so i cannot flash it via xrecovery. I'm not sure how to use flashtool, as it needs some .ftf file that i cannot find, and it will not allow me to flash.
Didn't you made a backup with xrec? Restore if you did. If not, install again 2.1 rom. You can find tft files in the first post of Flashtool thread.
About J's CM7, maybe the zip is in the rar file. Just extract it.

I backed up with titanium root,
Yeh, i'll try that
TY
Btw, how do you flash baseband 52?
Its needed for J's CM7 rom.
I can find firmware stuff, but i dont know exactly how to make a .ftf thing.
OK, titanium backup is not the same. It makes backup of apps, not the whole rom.
You can slash firm .504, it comes with bb 52.
Download the tft, put it in /firmware forlder of flashtool (on the computer). Then start fashtool, connect x10 and hit Flash button, choose the tft file and go on.

wow... this is wrong information/ some of it anyway.
first.... 435. comes with .54bb not 52. second. be more helpful and not give links he has to chase around....
flash tool is very easy to use once you have it installed... if you still have recovery dont flash a fresh install of a 2.1 your wasting time.
if revoery works. download the winrar program for the cwm file that you want to install. its like winzip slightly differnet. it will then give you the flashable zip you want. most likely it is named updat.zip. put that on your sd card.
if you need the .52bb yes it is included in the folder with the rom. it is in tft format already... drop that into the firmware folder where you have flashtool located. then simply click on flash.. it will show the .52 files there will be several.
if they are not there... click on the advanced tab and scroll to bottom where it says bundle creation click on it and find the tft file you inserted into the firmware folder and when it opens the window up. drag all files from left to right and name the open spots at the top right. when done flash.
after that... reboot into recovery locate your zipfile for cm7 and let it install. voila your done
My bad. .504 is with bb 52. Thanks for correction.

Hey guys, my eng is fine.
Regarding CM7,
it doesnt seem to have any signal or phoning abilities
no mac, or bluetooth address or anything.
:/
SOmetimes with random reboots.
EDIT:
I have all basic copies of roms and i have access to recovery, SO I AM NOT A NOOBIE THANKU!
I appreciated your correction about the firm. Thats alright. In his second post, he said that he got only a backup from TB, not from xrec. That's why I told him to flash new 2.1.
The way you are explaining the other things is even harder for me to understand what you are trying to say. (And beleave me I understand allot of Android and X10) So for him maybe will be harder to understand about all that zips and stuff.
Me not trying to be rude neither. Lets see if we helped the guy or we got him confused

OK, you've flashed CM7 over bb 52 right? The one provided by J in his package?

G-face... wasnt trying to be rude to you either with same comment
Jinglejo, good to know that your not a noob. might be a little easier to help you out beings it looks like you know whats up with your x10...
if i was to break it down in steps 1234....
1. Recovery works.... thats good
2. unrar the cwm file that you downloaded.
the tft files for bb .52 are included
3. take that file and drop it into firmware
4. open flashtool and click on advanced.... scroll down to bundle creation...
locate the file... is should read x10_52_changebaseband
5.once selected. a new window wil pop up. the files will be in .sin format now....
highlight all and drag to the box on the right.... top three boxes have to be filled in..
6.select ok and wait for files to be ready.
7. when done. click on flash...select firmware .52... hit ok..... wait till you are prompted to connect in flash mod... then connect and wait.
8. when done, reboot and wait for signal to appear..
9. once you have signal, reboot into recovery.
10. clear dalvik-cache, battery stats.
11. install your cm7 from J.
12. let us now if any of this works for you.
Im not confused, its just it says the baseband is unknown
So do i flash in the baseband 52?
J only gave us this bunch of .sin files and
Rendeiro gave a broken link to baseband 52.ftf that does not download properly.
Can you find me a link for it or tell me how to bunch up these .sin files to form a .ftf file?

yes flash in the bb .52.
locate the .sin files from where you have them stored and go to advanced and do bundle creation.
i was being stupid when i said it was in tft format ( my apologies) they are in .sin
once you have done a bundle creation it turns it into a tft then when you choose the file from flashtool. it shows them again as .sin
flash this and you should be good to go with radio

im not sure if that rom coms with devtools installed or not...
however if it does... open it up go to bad behavior. and click on crash system server...
if not... you may have to go with G's option and start fresh with a new install..
in that case if you have to do that... right after flashing the 435 firmware... root it, install recovery, power down... flash bb 52 then install the rom.
after that it should work fine without problems

@Above: Yeh i only just noticed.
@Above's above (SErooted)
The 2.3 ROM reboots quite often when im fiddling with it.
It does come with dev tools.
fiddled with it, aeroplane mode prob is fixed
apparently, the rebooting is kernel related.
Excuse me if this is explained anywhere and I'm just to dumb to find it, Forum Search didn't get me the answer:
I come from the Galaxy S and wanted to install a more featered ROM to my gilrfriends mini pro since I bought it to her and she saw me doing rom stuff on my phone, but only in the last time I read of fully working ROMS (last thing was the cam) because I didn't want her to bother (me) with stuff not working
Now I wanted to install SonyBread, but I'M stuck at installing CWM... I used the apk installer, and the flash tool, but nothing works, CWM nor xrecovery is booting when I hit the back key at SE logo. When I'm searching for the chargemon file, there seems to be the right one there (code says so) and recovery.tar is present. Phone is definetly rooted!
What am I doing wrong? Is it just I'm too into the Galaxy S and just can't see the obvious? And why can't I find a clean install guide for CWM to 2.1.1.C.0.0? Most ROMS say they are for this firmware and have to be installed through CWM, so there MUST be a way..
I hope this is not a to dumb question (but I really didn't find any help through search) and someone can help me, thanks in advance
first Xrecovery via AAIS (search XDA) then install cwm via xrecovery. It's really simple, trust me
use flashtool 0.2.9.1 beta to root and install busybox & xrecovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10738287
then flash cwm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745
I've tried both, nothing works. I get xRecovery, but as soon as I flash CWM, I cant get into it...
I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745. I press the back button repeadetly, but nothing happens for CWM...
I also tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106146 as it looks like its specificly for mini pro, but it needs CWM to install... how am I supposed to install CWM only through CWM?? This makes no sense to me I even tried the manual copy method from this side, but it seems that CWM doesent recognize the back key pressed...
I dont know whats the problem, maybe I try to recover through SEUS and start everything over on a fresh firmware, maybe some testing messed something up.
I cant find any information, if I have to do anything else for 2.1.1.C.0.0 firmware, maybe I have to edit something for chargemon?

Go to HERE and download Flashtool 0.4.2.0, with it, you can root, install xrecovery and unlock bootloader, if you wish.
You need have android 2.3.3, and don´t downgrade kernel.
If you want, install stock firmware.
It´s easy.
right, so do i just click install recovery?
because i rooted it, exactly like that, im running busybox version 1.8.4 or something like that, someone told me it automatically installed xrecovery when i rooted it... is this true? thanks
When you root phone with flashtool, it just root your phone. For install xrecovery you need click on install xrecovery, and when it over, you have xrecovery installed.

Yes, you click the install recovery button. And no, when you root your phone, xrecovery is not added.
A little reminder also, you will never break the x10 by flashing to many times. So every time you run into something like accidentally downgrading kernels, just flash stock FW and start over. Again, the only true way for someone to permanently damage the x10 is only by damaging the USB port. So hold dear to that little port.
Hope you resolve your issue brah. Peace
is there anyway i can run flashtool and get it to recognise my phone without having to flash kernels?
and great, ill do that when i get in. if your on about 1700 gmt time, thatd be great.
thanks everyone, mucho appreciado!

First of all: Good thing it didn't work yet, because you would have bricked your phone, you're on the wrong firmware/baseband to make the ROM work.
Secondly: Xrecovery isn't standard software on your phone, so it won't work without some effort.
So here's what you do:
1. Use SEUS or PC Companion to update your firmware to 2.1.1.A.0.6 with Baseband version M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
(If it won't update your phone, send me a pm i'll give you the link for firmware you can flash with flashtool)
2. Use Flashtool to root your Phone
3. Use Flashtool to install XRecovery
After that: boot into XRecovery and install your chosen ROM according to the instructions in the post you got it from.
If you need CWM to flash the ROM, there is a version that can be flashed with XRecovery, it's the easiest way.

Did you download and install Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service?
If not, do it, it will have the proper drivers and you will probably need it sooner or later anyway
I've always found the driver install to be buggy. Install it a few times checking X10 mini/pro and X8 adb driver boxes and flashmode drover boxes. Took me about 6 runs last time but it works now
