Hi guys... i'm sorry if my question is not condescend. I' new one in this forum. might be this post is my big problem for me.
I used X10 since december 2010, but i have terrible problem, my phone often get restart when i used to play game like angry birds rio, NFS, worm, or the sims 3 (additional info, all game is not legal ).
sometimes when i use my phone to browsing, its restart again. But if i'm not use the phone (sms and sometimes make a call), its normal, the phone never get restart. i already try to turn on the mp3 music till 17 song using mediascape, its normal (my ppone didn't get warm/hot). only if i use playing game, it get a few lag then hang and then restart.
I already try to flashing my phone with latest update from SE using SEUS, reformat SD card, but the problem still appear.
I have try searching the same problems with me on internet, and i got information that caused by mainboard failure. I'm very confused, because they said their phone got overheat and then restart it self. and they also said they smell burn on back case, at the battery connector.
this few of my phone data:
firmware ver: 2.1-update1
bseband ver: 2.1.54
kernel version: 2.6.29
my question is:
1. how much degrees the normally battery, and how much degrees we can say that battery is overheat?
2. are some of you know what batch number or date produced the mainboard is failure?
3. I still doubt that my phone is one of failure manboard batch. there is another alternativ solution to resolve my problem? because is a bit lazy to bring my phone to SE service center. I dont have spare phone if my x10 phone in SESC
4. is that true the latest SE update have a lotlag and make the phone restart?
5. this only my opinion, my phone OS first is verion 1.6, and its upgraded to 2.1 by SE. some people said it must deleted user data with xrecovery. anybody cantell me how to deleted that with xrecovery?
6. i still believe there is somehting wrong with my OS phone. i wanna to try custom rom. what the best custom rom? but my phone still warranty, can you give the save tutorial for use custom rom?
I'm really appreciate with your help and response my answer and I appologize for my bad language
thanks a lot and regards fadhli, Indonesia.

1. 30-40 degrees would be in the normal range while in use.
2. No clue
3. Lately I had random reboots as well but installing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264 ROM totally cured it (even the buggy Angry Birds Rio is stable now). A lot of games cause many brands of phones to reboot. Just read the comments in the market. Maybe it is not the phone's fault? However, I am convinced that my X10 is a little sensitive to temperature buildup under heavy loads (games, 3D graphics).
4. From what I see, it is different for each user so certain software combinations work better for some than others
5. This would only be the case if you were installing non SE ROM but it is a good idea to wipe any old data before upgrading/changing ROMs. xRecovery has tools built in to wide the data. It is as easy and point and click.

Have you guys ever experienced your x10 randomly restarting itself? Sometimes when I'm talking on the phone or just have my phone lying on my bed, it just restarts itself. I doesn't bother me too much since it isn't that frequent, but it pisses me off when it does restarts while I am on the phone...
Does anyone know why it does this and how it can be prevented?
Hi shukla,
I've got exactly the same problem! Which firmware is on your phone? I've got the 026 on my X10i. I think it's the firmware or the new root method?!
If I'll find some time this week I would like to try some things out...Some other experienced that problems, too?
Regards,
Martin
I've had random reboots as well running 26 firmware (using the 3 step root method) thankfully never during a call last time was while in Toronto this past Saturday taking pictures with Vignette.
I'm on 024 (rooted).
I think I was wrong with my thoughts. Today I've read a lot about our problem with rebooting. Seems it is the Sony backup application. It is randomly accessing the SIM card and thats the reason why our phones crashes. Right now I am going to flash my phone again. I'll tell you some more details after flashing is done.
Ok, well it's not easy to fix that problem. Yesterday I flashed my X10 about 6 times. With original SEUS firmware and the problem still appears. Then I flashed with 026 debranded firmware. After that I rooted my phone with the doshaska.net method. After that I removed the restore/backup app from /system/app. The problem still appears till now - but not so often. In fact, I had reboots every minute, so my phone didn't came up. I really don't have a clue why it happen. Someone else got an idea?
Regards ,
Martin
The only way I could stop mine from rebooting was to remove SetCPU. Are you using it? If so, feeze it or remove it and see how it goes. I do have another problem now with the damn screen not sleeping unless i push the power button! Oh well, the joy of fiddling
Nothing out of the usual battery dain yet. I am running the branded Dutch t- mobile firmware. I'm going to root it soon.

alright i found the solution myself...this post is just to help others
flashing did not solve my problem at all, through SEUS or rooting method nope the problem didn't go
finally i removed my memory card and everything was fine
some things on memory card could cause reboot during calls or randomly, next time try formatting your memory card
hope it help someone
cheers!
luv my x10 though i ve also got iphone but i ve never looked back
Just curious, how hot is everyone's phone when it reboots? I've noticed my x10 doing the same when its running a little warm. It usually starts acting up when it's over 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Gitin thx..it looks much better now, however yeasterday I was carrying my x10(still with no memory card in it) in the pocket, it got pretty hot (most probably over 38 degrees) and it turned into this rebooting "mode"..finally I left battery for 20 minutes in cold place..x10 got back to normal..I think that random reboots are the matter of memory card issue (You have solved this problem) or/and overheating of battery - still couldnt find any clue how to ease this pain but read somewhere that Froyo for x10 will have this problem taken care of..
i think ( depends on my experiences) the telephone need to reboot coz one applications from SD card want to launch (send or receive) some commands from or to internal (built in memory).
that's means this applications needs to move temporary to internal memory just to execute this command so absolutely android system will restart to create virtual memory to this application to let it runs correctly
first it's better to remove backup/restore programs or make its runs manually, if you have another software need to save data to SD memory ,remove it.
it's better to launch applications directly from internal memory to win the time and performance but At the expense of the memory size
ps: all that explanations depend on the framework version.
sorry for complex explain but i don't have easy way to explain this problems
i suddenly have it now to, first every hour, now every 5 minutes, my phone won't start up anymore
sorry..bad news..its pretty cold here in Poland so battery shouldnt turn to hot that easily but apparently the problem is more serious..I have to admit that random reboots occur less frequently than before but that **** still hapens to my x10..after no more than 2 days I had gotten memory card removed it got back to malfunctioning again..
it really pisses me off that I cant enjoy this phone anymore..
android 2.1 or higher is my only hope..
if anybody solved that issue entirely..please, dont be shy, do not hesitate..help us, please!

i too am hanging on for the 2.1 update to hope it solves the problem. I've a feeling there's going to be a lot of x10s going into SE for a service though when it is released and doesn't solve the problem!
I'm not 100% but is this problem the entire phone powering down, or just the connection to your network, mine just loses its network connection and then connects again, over and over ........
there's nothing 2.1 update will do
as our phone was working fine when v bought it, its completely a hardware fault
ok do this...
1.take out sim
2.format ur memory card
3.repair through SEUS or root process watever..
4.turn on ur x10 without sim and leaving formatted card inside
it will still give u hard time u can try putting some video on ur memory card and try to play it few times, ur x10 will turn off and wont turn on until u take out battery for few seconds or take ur x10 in front of Air-Conditioner
as someone suggested in rooting thread to keep ur x10 in front of air-conditioner if u get errors while rooting or if rooting process stucks in middle
the same thing applies in our case...try using ur phone in front of A-Con it wont turn off
i tried with a new battery ...still the same
as i ve been repairing mobile phone from last 5 years, i opened my x10, took out the motherboard, took out all plates over IC's, cpu and cleaned it with acetone properly and heated cpu and whole board with Hot Air Gun...everybody who repairs mobile phones knows what i am talking about
still its the same....
still i am not saying i know everything, anybody knows what the problem is and suggest the overcome is most welcome
nxt few months gonna b really cold at my place...i definitely think i'll notice a difference as its really hot these days which is causing my x10 to die
I did experience this when I debranded my AT&T X10. I have since gone back to the AT&T ROM and have not had this issue since. My battery life has also improved. I did root and remove all the AT&T bloatware. I also edited settings.db to allow for installing non-market apps. This phone is very fast and smooth now with almost no glitches at all.
mine won't even work anymore..once per every 20 or 30 times and than it turns off itself very quick..I can't recharge battery, nothing..really hope that 2.1 will help somehow..I am thinking of getting back to very first soft that x10 was launched with..seriously I am sickin tired with that ****..

Hi, I have an AT&T X10 and wonder what you debranded your phone to? I debranded mine about a week after I got it to R2BA026 Latin America and never had any issue with rebooting.
Aside from needing to power off the phone to check for software updates (two weeks ago of course ) my phone has been up for +358 hours without an issue, and that's with installing the AmbientTime home screen several days ago.
Hey guys, I've been having issues with my X10a's data connection. Tried the latest Wolf's gingerbread, and of course flashing down to a generic 2.1 which does seem a bit more stable on the connection but I'm hoping I can figure out the issue completely.
Basically, when the radio initiates a data connection the handset has a good chance of freezing up and plopping itself into a nasty little reboot. Now I've tried up and down flashes like I said, tried a new battery, SD cards and I'll probably resort to buying a new sim to test with to rule that last bit out too. Any help would really be appreciated. Here's some current info.
*Wireless seems to work just fine
*can make calls send texts
Carrier AT&T
Android Ver. 2.3.3
Baseband Ver. 2.1.71
Kernel: 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537
Thanks in advance for any help guys.
Maybe this can help:
Via recovery:
Wipe dalvik cache
advanced options-fix permissions.
greets
Tried it a couple times but it Didn't seem to help any unfortunately, thanks anyway.
Edit: I've set my phone to not use Data on the phone radio for the time being so I can still at least use wifi which seems to be doing just fine Calls work and text messaging works just fine too bizarrely enough. Another thing I'd like to note is that One dump log (that I unfortunately lost) from when I was testing to make sure it wasn't a heat issue both times seemed to point to some possible networking related aspect, NPARTS? or the like with some other stuff.

Added, any help is always appreciated, it's a bit weird how this issue is slowly starting to surface for multiple people at once.
Why add GTalk instead post it here so everybody can solve if it happens to them.

cuz im not the expert @@
im afraid of making mistake as well?
so yeah, better in conversation but i got my phone work after 2 days of flashing back and forth @@
but anyway... will see how it go with the person i just helped, if it goes well then i ll start, if not then idk... will figure something out
Well, no luck with any 2.3.3 based android unfortunately so I down flashed to a 10a 2.1 build and that seems to run just fine as far as the radio is concerned, in the end I think there's just so many factors to muddle through hardware wise cables, sims, batteries yada-yada that i'll take this turn of fortune and wait to see if SE ever releases anything 10a specific on the assumption there may be an off chance it addresses some rare little quirk a few others and myself seem to have.
Sounds similar to my problem, maybe same solution... Every time phone is on charger and network is used, phone automatically rebooted after a little while. For me, this was same on all WB GB roms until now. But now, I am typing this and browsing XDA while charging and its not rebooting. I cant give you a guarantee but maybe phone just needs time to settle? Its been preyty good to me for a while now.
flash the phone in the weekend and leave it alone for like half a day or something^^
i leave it overnight and surprisingly wake up and see the phone is on without any lose of battery ( well, 1or 2% ) ^^!
Just an update on my progress. I was playing around with the phone last night, and had managed to get it to the stage of having the 2.3 update but without a sim. I charged it to 100% and then attempted to put in the sim card. It didn't like that very much and instead of going through the restart loop, it just would not turn on.
I flashed it back to 2.1 and i it worked again. Then i flashed it to 2.3 and it wouldn't turn on again. Flashed it back to 2.1 and gave up for the night.
This morning, i tried to put in the sim card in 2.1 and it worked!
I think on my next days off, (in 2 days) i will try and flash it to 2.3 and see what happens.
In reference to the posibility of a hardware issue, i did not smell any burning The phone has been running all night and the battery is not hot at all. In fact it is cold. It could still be a hardware issue, but I'm not getting any of the issues described in that thread mentioned execpt the restarting.
Yeah, it's seeming like our phones are in a little "Does not like 2.3" minority If I could decipher the hardware version stuff under the battery maybe that would offer some more clues up.

Yeah, i'll take a picture of the the specs and post it up here in the next few days.
srsly guys... u need more than a day to flashing around to get it working.. especially the BB + kernel... as far as i can remember... because mine is x10a... i flashed the 2.1 generic FW and i have BB54... then i root + install xrecovery...
then i flash the 2.3 ftf via flashtool using the flashtool mentioned in Doomlord rooting method section ( because the xrecovery only working if u install through that version)
after flash, i leave it all night ( well because i felt to sleep while the phone still booting) in the morning i wake up and there it is... battery is nearly as full and phone running great with signal
then i root the phone via doomlord method + install xrecovery... then leave the phone for a while see if any reboot--- but none
so i start flash via xrecovery wolf's version... firstly on 3.5.... nothign else and leave it for half a day....
Yeah, that's what i plan on trying. The method of leaving it for a while after you have done something worked for my sim card issue.
do it on weekend yeah? or else u gonna get bored because otw to work the x10 keep rebooting =))
I use xperia x10a japanese docomo base. And i have the same problem
Any gingerbread rom get into boot loop once i insert my sim card. Without sim, it just works fine. What might be the problem, and how to fix it?
So far so good
I can confirm a very slow and steady pace works the best, Running Wolf's now and it seems stable so far, I'll keep an eye on it and give you guys an update in a while.
it will be fine.. just let it run without flashing anything ^^!
for a while
HI there
I bouught a 2nd hand X10 Mini Pro for my daughter before Christmas and before I gave it to her I upgraded it to the latest Android 2.1 SE firmware using SEUS.
She loves the phone, size, keyboard etc but is encountering a really irritating problem where the phone will randomly switch off in her pocket or (occasionally) in mid phone call. Sometime it retsarts itself after this, sometime it will restart when she hits the power button and occasionally it will hang completely requiring a battery pull before it will come back on. The phone can go days at a time without restarting once and then restart 3 times in 5 mins.
Dear love her, she's not lost her temper with the phone once, and really wants to keep using it but a school friend has the X10 non-pro version and her's has never played up once.
Googling suggests this is not an unknown problem for users but turns up no clear solution.
My question(s) then are:
1. Anyone else encountered this problem?
2. Is it likely to be a hardware problem? (battery replacement likely to help?)
3. Would dropping back to Android 1.6 sort this? (reliability is more important than other considerations)
3. (Hopefully) Can someone suggest a custom Rom which solves this problem completely or helps minimise the number of restarts and gives her some renewed bragging rights over her increasingly smug school friend?
Any suggestions gratefully received.
thanks
Some people did encoutered similar problems with rebooting.
Hardware by itself might be failure, but can't confirm that, it's not always hardware fault.
You could try to take out a battery out temporarily and put it back.
Dropping to 1.6 isn't that useful, as it's older version and it will be less compatible with apps. Though, it should fix some problems, but I can't confirm that, so you shouldn't try it yet.
You can try MiniCM7Pro v21 Custom ROM by paul-xxx. However, you need to know how to Root your phone and how to install Recovery (ClockworkMod) and installing ROM itself, and additionally backup in some case. Note: It will void your warranty if you have one.
If you have warranty for second-hand phone (I actually have still valid warranty for mine), you should send it to their repair service, but still backup everything.
However, before actual rooting, you should first try factory reset or if that doesn't help, then use Sony Ericsson Update Service or PC Companion to wipe your phone by completely resetting it. Note that you will lose all data with that (except SDcard, but backup should be recommended in any case), so you should backup everything first!
If it doesn't help, check around this X10 mini forum sticky threads just in case and don't do something if you aren't sure how to do it.
Hello,
1. Thank you very much for being so helpful
2. I am very new to Android, so please refer me to the definition of the word you used if it has some sort of special Android meaning (even rooting, since I'm not 100% sure I understood what it means)
3. My problems are as follows:
A. The battery runs out really fast. is there a way to: 1. Stop applications who came with the phone from starting and restarting automatically after I close them without me using them? 2. make the battery last longer? (not talking about closing Wi-Fi when not using and stuff like that)
B. The sound is really weak when I try to hear music with headphones. I saw someone recommending using AC!DAudio but that requires rooting. I am afraid to do that since I don't understand anything about it and since in Sola, rooting requires unlocking bootloader and Sony stated on their site that it will remove responsibility. Is there any way to increase the audio without rooting? or a way to "install" AC!DAudio without rooting?
C. I saw online that it is possible to find you're phone if the GPS is on. I tryed leaving it on, and without using my device at all the battery lost 25% after only an hour an a half. Is there anyway to leave the GPS on without wasting that much battery? or a recommend way to find my phone that takes less battery?
D. Charging takes a really long time. Is there any way to change that?
Phone is as it came from the box. Didn't update or change anything (besides allowing unknown sources for applications and installing several applications).
I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong place or broke any rules, please tell me if I did since I wouldn't know since I'm new here,
Thank you all very much again,
opeller
Hi, i dont know why you got so many problems (some of them strange like loosing 25 % of the battery), but:
1. You can do a hard reset to refresh the device, may be something is torturing it. That will remove a program, which can cause this battery behavior.
2. Stopping applications is a no no, because it can cause the phone to work slow and waste more battery. Android is made that way, to have images of some app in its memory to start apps faster.
3. The other thing in my mind is if you battery is wrong, you can try a service center too. They can measure the capacity and tell if its ok.

first, thank you for you're replay
1. how do I do that? does it involve any risks? (I don't mind loosing applications I have on the phone, I can just redownload them. nothing else I need there except for the phone list which is on the sim card )
2. are you sure? since I saw some on the runnig applications list that I didn't need. for example, I finished watching a video and MXplayer, which I used to watch it, was still there. I didn't need it until the next day. It took some ram (maybe it was like 30 but with a device who has 512 and always has at least half of it used for system stuff, it is quiet a lot) so I closed it so it wouldn't slow down my phone down an wouldn't take some of the battery. Is closing stuff from the running applications list really is bad? can it harm anything? are my reasons not ok?
3. That is an option too. I do hope it isn't since this device is only 2 weeks old. Is this not a problem all Sola users face?
thank you again,

1. No risk mate, hard reset is an option in the phone, it erases apps and returns the phone in new condition, like when it was bought. I think it is in restore&back ups, look in this menu personal data/erase. Click on it and on the next screen you must tick erase again and voila.
2. Using the RAM is not bad mate, dont worry. In the past i had a task killer and the phone was not better.
3. Many users who upgraded to ICS facing something like this - battery lasts less than in Gingerbread, nut what you mentioned above "25 % in hour and a half" - its strange imo mate.

1. Ok, if I'll see the need to do so, then I'll try it.
2. I'll give it a try for a day
3. This happend only today, when I left the GPS on. The phone was also very hot when I cheked and saw it lost 25% after an hour and a half, but I was in a cool place. Today was the first time it happend. I'll see if it happens again tomorrow, when I'll leave the GPS off.
4. I see that you use Sola two. How did you get around the low volume when hearing music problem?
BTW I saw people complaining that the volume is low when talking on the phone. I do not hace this problem. Talking on the phone is just fine, but when hearing music the volume is very low.

I flashed custom roms, thats it.
I'm in this position too, I've tried everything trying to fix the battery drain and am definitely going to buy a new phone in the new year. In the meantime, has anyone found anything to help? I've done all the usual things, minimum brightness, remove many internet apps, use power management, airplane mode at night, reinstall latest upgrade...
Also, I want to raise the volume throughout the phone also, I've tried a few custom ROMS and found *NO* difference whatsoever...
To keep things simple, I had a cracked screen on the Ultra which was replaced last week. However now the phone screen is slow and unresponsive after about a minute of use (fast & like new after right turning on however).
Ive tried the mod tweak found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522657
As well as the thermal screen calibration here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470070
There is no change with either mode. Cleaning with alcohol only works for a few minutes, and yes Ive removed the ASF for no change.
It should be noted that when booted at first minute or two, the touch inferface is quick and brilliant. After a minute or so it gets slower and remains so. Typing a text is a gruelling affair at that point,
Ran 4.3 android and updated to 4.4.4 and also no change in performance.
Does anyone have any ideas/ tips or pointers?
HELP!?!
An app with a memory leak?
Looks quite normal. RAM 1.1GB used; 600MB free.
Unless thats not what were talking about?
EDIT: might be up to something. using advanced kill on Go taskmanager EX and its seemed to do improve the situation in the short term. Will keep testing
Well got about that far thus far. The advanced kill works sometimes, but none of the apps look out of whack (from my basic knowledge anyhow)
Any help/ links in diagnosing a memory leak would be very appreciated.
Don't suppose you've got the Google now launcher? I had to uninstall as they introduced a memory leak in the last update.
Un updated it just in case.
Its tough as even watchdog lite isint detecting much. com.google.android.gms:snet at startup took 22% CPu but otherwise its steady.
Grr jezz I even did a factory reset to 4.4.4 and its still there. Would trying a custom rom help?
Well as an update manage to completely wipe and reinstall the OS. No change in performance however
Does anyone know if a faulty screen install could be to blame for this?

Could well be, but i find it strange that it acts normal again after a reboot? That alone indicates that it's something wrong with the software. I still hold a finger on a process gone wild. Do you have Recovery installed? If yes, re-flash the ROM or flash something else and see if that solves it. I would personally flash a stock ROM and flash it with Flashtool so you don't have to root or void any warranties, and it'll be the simplest thing to do in case the screen is still acting weird after flash, and you want to get it checked out again (since it most certainly will be a hardware issue at that point).
So, fire up Flashtool, download a complete stock ROM (TFT), flash it, test it. Is it working fine now? Sweet. Keep using the ROM. Is it still the same thing? Contact the repair center again and tell them what's up and please do tell them that you've already done a factory reset, since that's the first thing they'll do themselves. Do not tell them about Flashtool or any other hacks or tweaks. They'll probably blame you if they think that you're an XDA user. "Oh, so you've been playing with it, and you bricked it and wanna fix it for free, bla bla".
Ask if they can open the device again and check that everything is fine and that you haven't received a faulty panel.
Ive actually did a complete tft flash of the original xperia ultra software. No change whatsoever vs previous state.
Im increasingly suspecting a hardware issue. Could it be a poorly plugged in cable? Its random chugging/ smooth response is completely confusing...

Did you flash the exact same FTF that you've always used, or did you flash one from a different region? I would try the GPe ROM if i were you, just to be sure, but don't bother doing it if you're not rooted and ready to flash. Yes it can easily be a hardware issue, and you should probably contact Sony or your nearest service center.
As an update I tried installing a fresh tft flash of a different build but same issue.
Notably noticed that the notification light on the screen is not working at all, so currently looks like a hardware issue. Will keep updated for reference & visit a repair centre
