Overclock - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can we build a module for x10 to overclock the cpu like the x10 mini without a custom kernel ?
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App

x10 is already fast....just wait for the custom kernel to be stable
and we will become more fast+smooth....

Yeah right, loading custom kernel without overclocking cpu frequency will definitely boost, lets say, psx emulator performance. I don't think so.

hoho..think for overclocking huh?

[Q] OC with PaoloM70's OC Gingerbread kernel

hey, i overclocked to 806mhz using PaoloM70's OC Gingerbread kernel and my phone crashes very often... i'm using stock GB rom... even if i use 745 or 768 it chashes within a few hours... please help me.. should i install franco.kernel or use some different kernel for smoot functioning of my o1.. ??

The only thing u can do is use lower frequencies.

Franco.kernel

How much you can over-clock really depends from device from device. Some O1s are lucky and can OC to 806 but some never make it pass 729. Give Franco a try (its an awesome kernel regardless) but if it doesn't work it probably just mean that your phone can't OC to 806 (like mine) and just stick with something at a lower frequency.
If you install setcpu then it comes with a stress test. Use it to find out which frequency is the most stable for you.
what about governers ? if I use smartass it crashes while playing games.. and with ondemand, it feels stable.

[Q] The difference gingercruzt 1.3 with another rom.

I am using gingercruzt 1.3 (I use the P500) and I saw some very good characteristics of this rom:
1. Do tweak more scrip than the other rom.
2. Options undervolt your computing power to work well with the best.
3. Option "use 16 bit transparency" to help smooth over but the picture may change significantly.
So why not use this to apply to the other rom, this is fairly or that.

You can't undervolt a MSM7x27 chipset...

But the custom of Ginger Cruzt is that you, in setting, gingercruzt setting, performance.

No, that do not work actually, it only works with xperia x8, as this is a xperia x8 port over, so its just aesthetics. Any undervolting in our device is impossible.

But x8 also has a msm7227 chipset, then how does it work there??

I think it's because P500 have a different voltage set and kernel than in xperia x8
boykioy not so nice where you can have a certain utility, when you stick with that option, the machine is less clear energy

So if someone is able to make an undervolt kernel,it might work on our phone, right?

well, if you can apply to every rom, it will open an "era" less energy to P500 android particular and general. kekekeke
As i saw in xperia x8 forum, undervolt didn't have a great effect on battery, and undervolting in our phones(eventhough impossilble) will affect stability even at 600MHZ

how to test the "stability" it? Check with any energy?
Besides, do you think about custom "use 16 bit transparency" ?

Well, it works, because i think Optimus One does not support 32bit framebuffer...

Stability as in your won't get any random reboots, kernel panic etc
I find the immediate use gingercrust 1.3 quite well, wait a while longer to see the problem on that something was wrong, then I will change rom
Our kernel does noot support undervolt, the settings are there in the rom but it is not supported.
Other than that, it has many many tweaks, and as a resulkt the scrolling is smoother that any available rom and the responce is very very good.
Thanks

CM 7.1.0.1 Kernel

Hello XDA
I have just flashed my rom to CM 7.1.0.1
I have noticed that the DooMKernel will allow you to over clock to 1.9 GHz. Is it possible to flash this Kernel CM 7.1 or is there another kernel I can use to achieve a 1.9ghz over clock
Sent from my SK17i using XDA
1.9 GHz is quite dangerous for these processors. Better don't overclock so high or phone will break down.

Hello,
Just because I can OC to 1.9 doesn't mean I'm going to keep it at 1.9 all the time.
I would like to know if the above is possible and if someone could could direct me to the correct place to download the kernel.

Here is kernel that can do exactly that in CM7.2.0
I don't know if this rom is applicable to CM7.1.0, so do it at your own risk

Of course, i assume that your phone is either Mini, Mini Pro, or Active

Stock kernel

I recently flashed to 2.45cz firmware and I obtained root access and cwm. What I wanted to know was that does stock kernel allow over-under clocking with antutu cpu master ?? Or I need a custom kernel for that??
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

I was able to underclock the stock firmware with antutu master!! I underclocked it at 1gz at max and it's working!! I can already see the slight lag even with free ram when playing temple run which was never before!!

Yes you can underclock but not overclock and/or undervolt stock kernel.
Is it just me or do you think overclocking a 1.5 Ghz device for non-testing purposes is just unnecessary?

Check kernel panic. Changelog has something about gpu overclock.

I installed LuPuS kernel. In CPU Master Pro don't see any overclocking GPU ; the options ''Sampling rate'' , ''ignore nice load'' ''up treshold'' are overclockering?

Just check out Kernel Tuner *root* on Play Store. It has an option for GPU Overclocking. I have tested it on my Xperia S ( Adreno 220 ) and it works fine Haven't tried it on my mini though.
actually theres none xperia mdpi or hdpi kernel with oc gpu. adreno205 simply cant be oc.
the discussion to oc it is since the desire hd days, but none succeeded with good result.
raising the gpu freq manually in kernel source made phone lag.

Thanks a lot. Didn't know that. For OP - if you want better 3D performance, just search for new adreno libs and flash via CWM. Also, add this line to build.prop - debug.gr.swapinterval=0
This uncaps your FPS limit by telling the GPU not to wait until the entire screen loads. Many people say that this causes tearing of the screen image but it works absolutely fine on our Xperia 2011 range. It gives you a massive boost.
