First we have to say that today our X10 is awesome compare to what it was, wen Sony Launched it... Thx you all for your terrific work on it.
We have plenty of rom, plenty of baseband, some kernel...
It becomes really difficult to test and report all combination
With the Kernel Manager Tool we can switch easily from one kernel to an another on a same rom...
I tried yesterday a very sweet combination
TripNKernel Modified FreeKernel-03 based on zdzihu's FreeKernel
+
Wolfbreak CM v006
+
bb52 (with the BB patch)
Result : no caps on fps, 1400 point at quadrant and everything working: bt, wifi, proximity sensor, led, flash, barnacle tether, etc....
No reboot no wlod...
Only bad behavior report: no gps, no way to move app to SD, and battery drain.
With fully charged and let on sleep mode, after 7 hours, only 35% left...
The problem seems to be the phone won't sleep....
Jerpelea in your K006 kernel, you uncap the fps, but it revert to 33 fps automaticly after screen goes off.... in the zdzihu's FreeKernel it stays uncap...
Could you point the others to where in kernel the fps cap is ? And do you think fps cap AND sleep mode are possible ?
It would be a huge progress for our phone, the feeling is blasting without the fps cap....
I think we should focus on kernel, we have really optimized rom, and kernel can bring some nice improvements....
Sorry if i made wired sentences, i'm French

Please post in the correct forum. Obviously if you make your post a question it belongs in Q&A. Posting in the dev section doesnt make devs read it, it just pisses everyone off and junks up the forum.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
Well my post has been moved to Q/A sub sections... but a little search show that this section is few if not read by major Dev...
Jerpelea hava 2,745 post, only two in Q/A subsection....
I know that it's a good idea to organize the forum, but hot topic aren't read if not in the 15 first post of the Dev section....
Could you replace it in dev section and remove the Question mark ?
I think my topic is more interesting in dev section and more usefull than a PM to J....
But i may be wrong.... you may be right

Im looking for a new ROM for my Hero without sense.
It has to be fast, and everything has to work.
First of all. Wrong section. Moderators please move this thread.
Second, its called a Vanilla Rom, when it is just android
Third, its all a matter of testing and just finding one that fits you
Moderators Please move this thread!

That did not help me at all..
At least tell me what section im suppose to post in...
Well wait for it to be moved o Q&A
There are few Vanilla Roms I can think of
Vanilla Eclair
EzHero
AndroBin
aHero
And CyanogenMod for Hero
That might not be all of them
/showthread.php?t=721551 (Sorry can't post links yet)
Check this post out, seems to detail many of the popular ROM's and their speediest features. (Broken down to Sense/Non Sense ROM's)
Superhero is also worth a look if you just want speed and compatibility, although it isn't pure vanilla aosp

Try helping yourself next time, this has been asked countless times before and usually gets a very similar answer (search), it is down to personal preference. Try them, try as many as you can. And it still worries my how many people fail to see that if you're going to ask a question the development section isn't the palce when there is a dedicated space for questions and answers...
villainrom 12 + launcher pro(set as default) + oc = power/stable/speed/daily.
is fully working... only got problem after what sh*t i done to it my call during BT to audio not working. no time to re-flash now due to daily usage...
is current the best rom right now i have tried(almost all rom in xda).
Go for VanillaEclair 4.0
Clean, fast, stable,... what else?
Link above in my signature.
And welcome in the vanilla on Hero world.
Moved as not Development.
Alrighty people.....my phone is currently running on Z's FreeX10 Beta 2, which the title actually implies ;D
You probably have noticed that the LEDs between the hardware buttons are "kind of" disfunctional and thus do not work properly. A way to get them to work is to play with the automatic brightness settings, which eventually causes the LEDs to work (at least for a while). By this i mean that they quit working immediately after you lock the screen and will not start working again by simply unlocking the screen.
Just to clarify and to prevent any flaming:
--> I did read through all threads concerning the 2.2 ROM (ALL of them, i've probably browsed through them for at least a hundred times by now)
--> I did see people posting questions concerning this topic
--> I did use the search function and even google to find clues how to fix this (no success)
--> last but not least, i do know this is not an issue of great importance and that there are bigger problems to be dealt with. i just thought it'd be nice to gather info and maaaaybeee to get this bug fixed (if you may call it like that).
So, no rush, possibly, there might be someone around here with an idea, or the proper knowledge, to get the LEDs to work properly (i'd love to have them working, i do kind of like them ;D)
So finally, if anybody has an idea, just let me/the others know, there are surely others that are interested in this topic.
I've started to have a closer look at the build.prop of Z's 2.2, even at SE's 2.1 build.prop to find some clues - nope, i probably do not have sufficient skills to find an adequate solution (in J's 2.1 custom rom, the LEDs do work)!
Thank you for contributing,
regards, Paddy
EDIT: Since this topic concerns firmware, modifications and collecting thoughts, i posted it in the development section. If i've posted this thread in the wrong section, i am truly sorry, or if it seems improper, a mod can feel free to remove it.

i do know that, but since nobody had supplied neither an answer/nor help, i thought maybe there is a quick fix or something.....anyways, i've been patient so far, ain't got a problem with waiting ;D
So I'm new to the to this phone and haven't had the luxury of playing with over/under-volting. I am coming from a Desire so please bare with me. I am running the 11.7.1 MIUI build with nemesis' new otb kernel with deep sleep fix. I have voltage control installed and understand how to make the changes. My issue is where to begin. Are there any basic guidelines to start with? Should I o/u-volt? How much for each step? I don't want to fry my phone and I know to each his own when settings are concerned. Can anyone help me? I am trying to get the longest battery life possible without sacrificing a ton of performance. Any help would be great.

I have general guidelines in the thread you got the kernel from. Some have shared their settings in the thread. Do some reading and please post questions in appropriate section or thread relavant to question you are asking.
Thank you sir. I see I posted in the wrong section right after asked. Whoops. Sorry. Thanks for the update.

First of all, this belongs in the Q/A section so you know for next time. Now, on to your question. It sounds to me like you aren't too much interested in overclocking if you want battery life. So, I would try keeping your max speed at 1000 and start with a -50 UV for each step. See how that treats you and then go from there. Later on maybe you can further undervolt the 100-400 steps. I wouldn't UV the 800 and 1000 steps anymore than 50 though
First,I'm sorry for my poor English.I just have a question about the HWA of cm10.As we all know,we have the su660's kernel source code, but we still can't have the HWA.Once I used the defy which used the old kernel but still could have the HWA.I know the defy uses other phone's drives,so why the A4 can't?Lg su660 has the same CPU as A4.Maybe I shoule be patient, but I really want to use chrome. The chrome is so fast and beautiful, and I really love it.What's more, can epinter post a thread which introduce the progress of building the new kernel?
There are way too many threads/posts on this already, one more thread is really not needed.
Everybody wants HWA, everybody is impatient and pushy about it, and that only produces countereffects. Be patient, quit asking, it'll happen when it happens. Or give it a shot yourself. We all have the same resources available.
Thread closed in light of the above statement.
Hi everyone, my questions here may seem strange or noobish, but I'll ask them anyways,
I follow these forums (XDA), since a good time now, (since I have my Xperia X1, got it nov 2008 to be exact, but I discovered XDA a little while later), and I read lots and lots of threads and posts everyday, I was there when CWM was born, I flashed tons of ROMs on my X1, WM6.1, WM6.5, Android since 2.1 I think, I had stopped all this for some times when I had much work to do for school and work etc. and I came back 3months ago with XPERIA P...
I followed and read almost every thread in here, and I'm sorry to announce that I find all this a bit Messy (not Lionel)...
I want the best Experience for my smartphone, and here I'll explain what's the "best" experience for me, and I wish you could tell me what's the best thing to do for it.
1) I love Xperia Stock UI, that's why I want stock XPERIAnce
2) I love smoothness, thats why I want a light ROM and good Kernel =)
3) I know that .54 FW is insanly buggy, so I'll certainly need some tweaks
so now that you've read my little story, I think I have all your attention so I can ask my questions, that's why I'll type them below:
1) What's the best ROM for me?
- I think about getting this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069543) I want to know what you think about it, seems really good to me, but don't want to waste time flashing and reflashing, I used to do it with my old phone so now I just want to flash once and stay with My phone like it is all the time
2) What's the point of getting another than stock Kernel?
- I mean here that okay it can be smoother and have better battery or benchmarks, but tbh I don't really care of that all unless there's a big difference, so is it a real difference between stock kernel and Sliding or Thjap?
Yeah I know my question seem noobish and may have been asked many times, but I'm searching for someone who can make my wishes come true, or at least show me the way to do it by myself, because actually I learn computer science but all this is not what we learn at school, so I don't knwo where to start...
Now For all of you that didn't fall asleep while reading my story (could write a book lol it's so long) hit the thanks button (just to know if you reached the end of my post LOL, joke no need to do it)
Seriously for every person that reaches the end of my post, just feell free to help or teach me how to make my own ROMs, because yea there are tutorials and stuff, but it's always better to have someone showing you the first steps, it helps you keep focusing on it and not being bored,
I thank every guy here that can help me or just took the time to read my looong long post =)

1.) Only you can tell what's the best ROM for your phone. But for my Xperia P, I use BrainsROM. It has all the features I need for my smartphone. Battery does not drain that fast and overall performance is good.
2.) Hmmm. I am not that pro yet when it comes to kernels, but as I can see, there is a big difference using kernels from Sliding and Thjap from stock. You can see big improvements when it comes to overall performance. Most people use Stock ROM's combined with Modded Kernels.
Sorry for my bad english, english isn't my first language. :good: Hit the thanks button if my post helped you.
Your question regarding kernel
The kernels provided by thjap and deepunknown are more than just another stock kernel
pre rooted
Cwm integrated
Init.d support
Ooverclocked ( removed from deepunknown's kernel)
Some performance n battery tweaks
And a hell lot of new things
So Are there any cons over custom roms and kernels, like freeezes or reboots or phones stuck? Did you ever experience that ?

I have never experienced any reboots or freeZes on all custom roms that I have tried ( talking about those for unlocked bootloaders)
Most of the roms dun have any lag like our beloved stock rom
Regarding kernels - if its a test release... U cannot expect it to b highly stable...
Bt final releases are stable ( coz they r thoroughly tested by some testers including me
all credits to developers
Some have made it to 6 stable releases in xperia p section )
And you tell me that custom stable kernel is smoother and has better battery life than stock ? How come Sony engineers didn't make it better so ?

Yes it is bt I didnt said anything about battery yet
When I used miui it was superb
Bt battery life was not as much as I expected ( less than stock rom)
Sony engineers - no words for them
Coz they can port jb to xj bt not to xu and xsola... Thats pathetic engineering
