I was wondering if i can provision the Epic to be using the PRL's of US Cellular and not Sprint. I got the phone moved over to US Cellular.
The phone works but the data stopped working after about an hour after the activation. Main reason i think is because it is still running off the Sprint network first.
I have done a lot of research and no luck with changing in PRL info. Is there a ROM that will allow you to provision on another carrier?
Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Not a pro on Android but am good with technology.
Thanks

I'm facing same issue but have not had data working on my newly ported Evo at all. Sounds like you just need to add a USCC prl. Wish we could get others involved in this. Also, how did you get them to add the phone to the network?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Our company is moving to Verizon and they told us that we could use our existing sprint phones if we could make them work on Verizon network. I wanted to know if the stock verizon rom would work on the sprint touch pro. Our owner does not want to use a custom rom.
thanks in advance, and i apologize if this has already been answered but i could not find it anywhere.

The ROM is the least of your concerns. The real issue is getting VZW to add your MEID to their DMD so it can be activated. The alternative to doing this isn't legal and is even more difficult. There was once someone here on these forums who know how and had access to add records to the DMD, but I haven't heard from him in at least a year. I would love to hear from the individual (or someone else willing and able) again.
we were given the go ahead from the business account manager that if we could make them work they will allow it. The phones we have are actually generic cdma phones that operate on the sprint network through beyond mobile (an mvno similar to kricket)

If the phones are unbranded, you should have no issues with VZW adding the ESN numbers to their dB. I guess the best way to find out would be by calling VZW and finding out. Good luck.
Hi guys,
I am seeking help to configure data connectivity on my HTC Evo running on Telus Canada. Voice and SMS work flawlessly but data is no go.
The one key thing that I've noticed is that the HTC Evo doesn't seem to have an APN config option. I have tried to re-adapt different configuration but I've had no luck so far.
If anyone is using HTC Evo on Telus in Canada, your knowledge and experience will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hey how are you?
I have been looking around to see if anyone successfully is using the HTC Evo under Bell or Telus for a while now!!! I really wanna buy this phone from the states and use it in TO.
Was it hard to get it working under telus? Have you resolved the issues with the data yet?
I d really appreciate the help, thank you!
Me Too I want to buy the HTC EVO and I want to ask if it was easy to activate it under Telus
Hey guys,
Sorry I hadn't updated this thread. I now have HTC Evo working on Telus. Voice, SMS and Data. I initially had problems with slow data but with slight tweaking, I now have up 1700kbps download and 800kps upload speed. I feel so alive with this phone right now. Only glitch that I need to find a way around is not being able to use data while taking a call. Kinda dumb limitation but it doesn't bother me. I rarely use my phone for calls.
So yeah, get to work guys! The dream is indeed possible.

PS: First do your research on how to get Voice and SMS working or PM me if you need guidance, then we can start talking about Data in this thread. Godspeed!
I know this is an older thread (September) but I just wanted to re-check because no other forums posts anywhere ain Canada have anyone using an EVO on Telus. From what I ujnderstood, the CDMA format wasn't really unlockable and interchangable, so the DREAM PHONE EVO was out of our reach. Your news is exciting, but hard to believe. Can you offer any more details at all? Does Telus support foreign unlocked phones? WOW. if so.
Sorry to revive an old thread but I have the same problem as the first post on my EVO. Talk and SMS works great but I have no data at all... No 1x, no EvDO. What do I need to do to get it work? It's a great phone but I need my data connection.
I am fairly at ease with tools like QPST and QXDM so don't waste your time overexplaining things!
From what I understand, typically I am supposed to have at least 1x data without any username/password, just get authenticated by the network. Howerver it is not the case. No connection.
Please help me.
Any one have any thoughts?? Im having the same no data problem on bel i got it to the point once where it authenticated and then said protocoll errors. have not been able to get it to that point. and im ready to almost give up ;(

unfortunately, unless your are running an international rom with the radio's to cover them, you will not be able to force your device to roam. At this time I myself am not sure how you will accomplish this.. Each handset for is different. You may be able to roam on a compatible at&t network with the right radio's installed. but i'm going to say it's not "TRUELY" possible at this time.

That kinda sucks, but thank you for the reply.
I have tried a few things and can get the phone to "see" AT&T and T-MOBILE networks, but it says my sim will not allow connections to them.
Is roaming still included in the new share everything plans as it was before when we had unlimited? if so this should be possible at least on sprint (CDMA). If not, that might be the problem.
I have flashed a considerable amount of phone so im not a n00b but im no expert. Ive tried almost everything, Calls Work, Text work no 3G tho anyone have any ideas. i know it need the sim for 3g to even pop up apparently so thats in there.ive tried switching roms resests :cyclops: < even called this guy over lol..
no but in all seriousness all i does is go to HFA and fails..oh and no sprint zone *2 calls customer service. any ideas??!!!

If this was for Sprint I would say do a ##72786#. It would reprogram the network settings. Also check with Boost and make sure they have the right sim card number in there system. This could be the problem as well.
I just bought a brand new Verizon S4 that has never been activated on Verizon for $125. I am trying to get it working with a prepaid carrier in the US. I have been reading that it can be done with T-Mobile and ATT but am not sure where to start with this thing. For starters, the Android OS version is 4.3. I know there is an update out for it through Verizon. I can't do the update OTA with no Verizon service. I'd like to get this thing as close to stock Android/Samsung as possible and kill all the Verizon BS and then get it working on StraightTalk, Cricket, SIMple Mobile, or MetroPCS. Can anyone give me a good place to start or any tips. I've flashed ROMs before, changed PRLs, etc, so I'm no dummy when it comes to this stuff. The terminology/technology has changed some since I was messing with Boost Mobile phones. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try searching.
You will need to ODIN to 4.4.2.
You will then need to root with "towelroot".
The phone should work with most any GSM carrier with the right setting. (T-Mobile, AT&T and Metro GSM).
Which will give you LTE, I can't answer.

I have used ODIN before when working with my Samsung Galaxy Prevail through Boost Mobile so I'm sure I can figure it out. Thanks for the info. I tried searching and found all kinds of different terminology such as SafeStrap and talking about the different bootloaders. It's a little overwhelming, but I'm sure I can figure it out. I did all of my original stuff through AndroidForums and there as a root section with all kinds of guides, FAQs, etc. Is there a beginners guide or FAQ for the Verizon S4?
I have read where I need to change the APN settings to get HSPA+ or 4G LTE with the different GSM carriers. It seems like HSPA+ is the best I'll get and that's through ATT. I'll keep digging! Thanks!
