Cannot unlock X10 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running CS 6.1.3 and figure this may be the issue (I don't know...)
I have put in different SIM cards but I never get the "enter unlock code" I am supposed to get. I have my code ready, but no chance to enter it.
Will doing a factory reset give me what I need? I think I have xRecovery, so if anyone who is sure I need to be on stock settings can give me a link on how-to, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
Otherwise...what is the issue?

did you try going to settings> security and privacy settings> set up SIM lock?

Sadly that did nothing...I need to unlock the phone to work with Bell.
SIM lock is just a password for the sim

Did you try to make a complete reboot of your phone?
First of all are you sure you didn't lock you Sim code ? (try to put you Sim Card in another mobile and check that you can make calls.
If you have done this, check if there is an option that turn this servise of.
ics
On the ics beta for the photon you can go to the dialer and type *#*#info#*#*
Click on phone info and scroll to preferred network. Make sure cdma (prl) or GSM is selected if not change. Also note whether it says the radio is on right below that setting.
You might also try to go to airplane mode and back, or wifi and back.
If all else fails return to your stock backup and make sure all is well.

[Q] Unlock code not working

I have entered the unlock code I received from AT&T and it tells me the request was unsuccesful. Any ideas as to why this might happen?
Well you could start with any kind of information about what ROM you're running

I am running stock rom, I just updated to 4.0.4 from Kies
I downgraded to 2.3.4 and manged to unlock it via root and program. Is there a way to update to 4.0.4 again without losing sim unlock?

Why not just goes with the JellyBean? You are alreaedy rooted.
I was also slightly reluctant to go the app route to unlock the sim on mine, especially since the "legit" way seemed to be trouble free. On 4.0.4, I used #7465625*638*# to bring up the sim unlock prompt, worked without a hitch.
The AT&T rep also noted to me that you get 5 attempts before its permanently locked? any truth to that?
I originally posted this in the AOKP thread, since that's what I am currently running. I'll just paste what I had there for now.
Well, I'll be out of the country for a month or so, and I called AT&T to get the unlock code, which they gave to me after a few minutes of discussion as to why I needed it. However, putting it in yielded no results. I asked earlier (maybe in a different thread) if running an aftermarket ROM would have any effect, and I was told it would not. Was I told something wrong?

After doing some research, it seems that AOSP based ROMs seem to have issues with unlock codes. I'd rather not downgrade all the way back to stock, so if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

Which rom did you use to upgrade to JellyBean? I have seen a few of them but don't know which one to use, plus will I be able to unlock the phone?

Yeah I finally managed to unlock it. I entered the MCC/MNC number for the SIM I am using and it worked. But you need the unlock code to add them. I will post the steps later.
[Edit]
Here are the steps I followed:
1. Turn the phone Wi-Fi OFF and then turn device ON without SIM card.
2. Type *7465625*638*#
3. You will see the NETWORK LOCK screen
4. In MCC/MNC field, enter MCC/MNC code for the provider you want to use. (example: enter 310260 if you want to use this phone for T-mobile USA Sim Card; 310410 or 310380 for AT&T). Check this link for complete MCCMNC for your provider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code (It is very important to try all the MCC/MNC code if your New Sim Card Network has more than one code)
5. In CONTROL KEY field, enter the Unlock Code
6. Press OK
7. You should get a message: LOCK SUCCESSFUL
8. Turn off your phone, insert your New Network Sim Card and power ON. The phone should be unlocked.

This worked for me... but I didn't have a new SIM to switch too yet, so just put in the AT&T MCC/MNC and popped my SIM back in. Does this mean it's unlocked for all possible future networks now? Or do I need to do this process and put in a new MCC/MNC each time I switch to a different SIM?

I would just order an off network SIM off Amazon for 50 cents. I called AT&T yesterday and asked for the code so once I got the SIM from Amzn I just shoved it in the phone and when it asks for the unlock put it in and voila! Btw... once a phone has been successfully unlocked (at least through legit methods) it is permanent and the IMEI should be able to be recognized across all compatible networks worldwide.
This took awhile but It worked!! My phone was hard locked too.

AT&T had gave me the wrong code the first time (because I had 2 gs2's on my account. And after 5 attempts !!! It locks and will not accept any code. Only get Unlock unsuccessful. Then the CS agent goes, OH you have 2 phones, Well here is the code you need "BUT" its hard locked now and can't be taken off AT&T's network because you made two many wrong attempts.
Thanks again

GT-I9300 unlocked, but not quite unlocked?

Yesterday I bought an S3 and rooted it straight away as I was trying to unlock it due to it being on EE. I couldn't do anything and downloaded Galaxsim unlock and paid for an unlock. Now everything shows as unlocked and so far I've tried orange and vodafone both work. I'm trying to get o2 to work with my S3 but it's not working and just says "Network is not registered". It also says invalid MMI when I tried something else I don't quite remember. Any help please?
This is in the UK by the way, I believe the phone is from germany though.

Use this metod to Unlock it, works fine on JB 4.1.1 you can try even if you have 4.1.2 installed. Downgrade to 4.1.1 if you can't see option 4 from guide.

Hello. I typed the code in you told me about, I had done it before it just says "connection problem or invalid MMI code" when I put an orange simcard in and "not registered to network" for o2. The thing UMTS method thing also wont work for me because as soon as I go on network lock it says "menu does not exist current command is 186." The apn settings are all correct.

Sorry man I didn't see your comment at all, yes 4.1.2, so I can't continue to use 4.1.2 or do I downgrade, use the trick then upgrade?
Yep, downgrade to 4.1.1 first, use the Trick (missing option 4 now will be there), unlock & check if works. Once completed, upgrade back to 4.1.2. This method is permanent so in future you can flash any ROM and SimLock won't be back.

No problem final question, does the baseband number really matter too much? I've got an XXELL4 but I can't find one for 4.1.1. Sorry if that seems nooby it's just my first time downgrading
Here you go
Download any similar one, on the bottom of the page you can get 4.1.1
I might be wrong but I don't believe this method will work on non qualcomm devices.
Anyway, no "network unlock code" requested on boot means that your device is not sim locked anymore.
Did you check that your serial number and imei match those written on your box?

EDIT: If curiosity is killing you guys now, the phone couldn't get unlocked. Not even when I took it to the shop; every simcard worked except o2. They simply gave me another s3 and I was happy

Exactly same problem with JB 4.1.2
I fear if I downgrade I can lost the IMEI, happend some trouble with IMEI with the guy who try to unlock before phone comes to me.
The GalaxSim Unlock shows that the phone is unlock and all ok, but still recieve the "not registered in network" error message with any sim that´s not from the seller company
¿Any ideas for unlock in JB 4.1.2?
Thanks

PUK code is your SIM/carrier related.
Nothing to do with phone.
Ask for assistance from your carrier operator, they will provide you the code.

Contact your operator to get the PUK code. They will definitely provide you that. Flashing ROMS will not solve the problem. It's a SIM Card problem. You can try removing your SIM Card from the phone and then try to reboot it. I am not sure that it will work or not but trying is the onl option.
Thanks for the replies...
I contacted them and they gave a 4 digits puk code when I need 8 digits , after like 2 hours calling them I went to the store and they gave me a new sim card for free.
All good now.

Problem Unlocking Simcard (No menu to input code)

Hello guys, I have the unlocking code for me to unlock my phone but................
Once I put a new working simcard no matter what provider (Tmo- ATT- prepaid) the phone still doesnt give me an input menu for to put the code on it. I just dont get a menu at all...
Is it possible that since I have flashed the phone (Motorola Atrix HD) so many times it loss some files for that to be working?
I dont get it why my phone do actually recognize the removal and input a new simcard as it ask me to reboot the phone to update the simcard but it will not give me a menu for me to input the code.
Please any ideas on how to fix this issue as is the only phone I have and have no service due to this so I cant use my phone at all.
Often you phone needs to be on a stock ROM for this to work (possibly unrooted)
But being its only needed once, backup, flash stock, new sim should now work, enter code, revert to ROM you want
