[Q]Usb video output. - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i was wondering if it would be possible in the future to allow my screen to stream from my x10 to my pc screen at a proper FPS.
Perhaps using the hardware encoder?

Maybe or maybe not but honestly I think we won't be able to do this yet we don't have many devs left In the x10 section all they do is release unfinished roms :/

Yeah, I was wondering if microsd to hdmi will be possible someday somehow. Or at least some kind of "video out".
Is that a hardware limitation?

Completely unhelpful and off-topic. 1 dev left, the rest are still doing great work.

I know they managed to do this with the psp1000's.
But the psp uses a 480x272 resolution and has a capable hardware video encoder.
I hope the x10 can do the same for us.

Upgrade to gingerbread in Q2/Q3 removes the 32fps caps?

Hi all, since i heard the new xperia arc has its multitouch and 32fps cap removed, will the gingerbread upgrade come with it too? Will it also have a different kernal to allow wifi tethering? Will we also have like 16M colours?
I hope this would all happen

I don't know about the others but I'm pretty sure we will get the fps unlock. I would be stupid for se to lock it again

who knows? Anyone giving opinion here will be providing that, simply opinion. No one has any idea what the update will provide, as the press releases were very vague. Time will tell, I suppose.

Yep! Agreed!
And if you wanna stay on top of this gingerbread release follow Rikard Skogberg over at the official SE blog. He updates with new posts often, and when more news comes about what the X10 will and will not get with the gingerbread release you'll probably get it there first.
The only 2 things id like to see are 16m colors and 32fps unlocked. Oh, and hopefully they leave the EV control on the stock camera.

gingerbread in Q2/Q3 for X10 was planed not to impact ARC phone sale, given, clearing for X10 phone, without gingerbread, handly will ever clearing up the remining stock X10.
gingerbread already running with ARC, I do not see SE not able to deliever it, in my view, mostly, X10 gingerbread upgrade will end up same spec function with ARC. Also will never unlock bootloader to ensure, no impact to ARC sale business.
regards
James
that depends if the boot loader gets cracked / sony unlocks the bootloaders
For all I know, I love this phone but all that keeps it down us the sluggy touchscreen due to the 32FPS cap and I hate it.
The colors would be good also.
multitouch was said to be impossible due to the screens structure, but in the update I would hope also that the dualtouch isn't add pathetic as it is now.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
wifi tethering for sure as we can do that even now with apps like barnacle
and 32 fps cap would most probably removed..
but i am doubtful about 16M colors and unlocked bootloader
I just want root access in the gingerbread update.!

The modification on the camera department makes me worry that we will loose the goodies of the camera . But only time can tell what comes in and what goes out.
Hopefully the devs come up with a 2.3 mod so we don't lose the features.

A modified GB kernal would kick ass.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
The kernel for the 2.3.2 update should be 2.6.32pref9,the very same to the present kernel in the new Xperia products....
32fpscaps removal do not have too much hope.....SE will never give them such crisis. If we get it removed, most of us will keep our phone longer....They need people to butly their 3rd gan. Android phones.

Im pretty sure sony will modify the x10 add here in Australia, and I suppose other countries, the x10 is quite popular and common, and I do not think that a lot of people have heard of the Xperia arc yet.
The contract plan area here is almost dominated by there x10 and Iphone.

Is there a reason why the X10 comes with the 32 fps cap? Is it for battery life?
Yes,there is a reason.
The reason is that SE think that we will buy their new product by locking our phone

Actually the neo will be better despite a smaller screen. It'll have a front camera and a music player with an equalizer for bass boosting (which I cant live without). Otherwise, it's the
Same phone. Though me personally ill be getting an optimus 3d because when my upgrade will be available, xda will be well equipped for it.
From my X10a running CM 6.1.3 by Wolfbreak and Swype Keyboard
this might imply that we will have an easier root method for our x10s when the 2.3.3 update comes =D

kudos to that too. Sony Ericsson has tried hard to make a good phone. but this year dual core android phones will dominate. With that said, I will still get the Xperia Arc if i can find a good deal.(under $500) Can't complain about the SE interface. =) With that said i'm very excited for the X10 gingerbread release and unlocking the bootloader. Hopefully we can utilize the full potential of the phone.
Well I just love the looks and design of it
Personally I just want to own it!!
And specs of the arc a lil better so I think once there are more devs for the arc then the development will be more progressive than the X10

Is there any hope for 16M colors? Who can help us?

Thanks to The_Laser, Zdzihu, TripNRaVeR, DooMLoRD and so many other great developers, some of us have fantastic ROMs.
For example, my Rachael with hundred of installed applications is very very very fast, has a originally hotter chipset but even so now is really cold (even in the Brazilian hottest weather), has plenty of free memory, is fps-uncapped, no battery drainer, can download Arc plus apps and games in the Play/Market and run them with no lags, has Bravia Engine enabled, hyperstereo hi-fi smart bass sound, many launchers enabled at start screen, many themes etc.
We have almost all the things that a 2010 mobile should have, except for our big but ugly display.
It's true that every time someone think about the 16M colors display, always appears a half dozen of people saying that nobody can see the difference between 16 colors and 16M colors, that our mobiles would be slowed, that it is impossible or very difficult to do it, etc.
So I'm appealing to our good hackers. We need a super developer to change our display driver (maybe there is a good one in another SE mobile), or try another thing to make our experience with our Rachael so complete and beautiful as it could be.
So, if you can, please, help us.
Ambitious, but nice!

Dude i asked some of my friends that is so excellent when it comes in developing.. i do asked them for their opinions about our device x10 if it can have multi touch up to 10 fingers supported, 16M colors, 100% working bravia engine and other features that we need..
They said its possible to have it and specs of the device is good and not bad the way others are thinking.. its just that we need new drivers and libs to make it work.. if a developer is so kind and not doing work for money then our device will make it but it needs time.. it wont be so hard unless lot of devs will work into it and spend time into it not thinking about money.. sony ericsson or rather sony didnt release an ics for x10 because there are many new released devices and its an advantage for them not to release ics because they know that we will gonna buy new devices sooner or later due to frustration..also porting of kernels from 2011 and 2012 devices is a factor.. they also said that devs like them will not face a hard time dealing with that because x10 is old and also lacking of support.. they can choose s2 or xperia s which is a powerful device and its easy for them to make such developments and wuala!!!.. they make greater amount of money in no time..
The only way to get it is to ask great devs about it.. the concern that all of this things are needed for our device and we must have to pay them thousands of cash to get their attention and have their effort working in our beloved device.. that way x10 will have new life..
For all who will read this and might be offended.. this is not my opinion.. it is some of my friends i think true and reasonable opinion..
So think of it.. pay the devs thousand and lots of money to make it fully work or buy yourself a new device?.. make sense isnt it?...
Please press THANKS Button if I helped you.. cheers..

16M colors would be a bad idea because with the 600K the phone tries to melt itself. My phone sometimes reaches 40c!. So it probably for the best.
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
My opinion is that its not necessary to have 16m colours, even if its nice, but it would influence the battery drain and may create graphic errors, at least at the beginning of development... I always loved.the look of my screen (espescially in miui <3) and 16m colours would be more beautiful for sure, But we dont need it at all. It is just like Ice cream Sandwich, but if you could make a developer keen on that 16M colours.... you know what i mean maybe feravolt or achotjan or vashishta are ablw to do it, so we would have to make them believing in it
And then it will work, and i would also like to see my screen like that, but not if it means to have a heater and batterywaster at the same time...

No, we can't develop for it cuz IPhone is designed for ios and if android is developed for iPhone then I think Apple would sue the developer ( not sure though ). We can't develop properly for it, we need proper packages, omx codecs ,proper libs. Finding or writing omx codecs is difficult job cuz there is difficulty in finding proper omx libs for android phones! How can we find for iPhone???
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
I know its very difficult...but if we try...it will be possible...I have googled it any many say that its possible but a bit tough and risky...for we need jailbreaking iOS....which is easy...then need to put our brains and start the Developement.
Well, you'd need proper drivers; either you get them from Apple or you're building them yourself (which is a real pain).
You'd also need to somehow get the Android kernel in there, which is also a pain, since ... well, it just is...
It's tricky, but I've seen a pair of iPhone 4s with Android on, i just don't know where and when...
Though Android still RULZ
Well it will be.difficult....but i have seen people using android iphone...i know we cant make a perfect rom but still we can make a compatible rom

Don’t forget, judging by all lawsuits (Apple vs the world) no body can develop anything similar to their products or use their products, whilst they continue to freely, so called, “innovate” what android been doing for years (i.e. “pull down notification” blatant copy).

Back in like ios 2 or earlier they used to have android in cydia....And,even then thr marker didnt work...
But as everyones saying...due to the fact that apple keeps everything clised source, sues everyone, and puts in a ton of security...it would be extremely hard and take months if not years...by the time we got it going for one there would be a new one...we hav no source to work with
The people that actually deveolp stock roms get paid and work in large teams and also have degrees in this sort of thing...its there job -and it still takes them about a year to release
Now look at us xda people...some of us,may have degrees in development. But many of us,are self taught. On top of that we all have a life outside of xda...jobs, family friends...so we really dont have that much time to work on stuff. Last...we are not paid...we do it cause we enjoy it...but i dont think anyone would enjoy building android for iphone simply cause you would pretty much have to creaye your own drivers and libs
So sorry to burst your bubble...but i dont see this ever hapoening. The end product isnt worth the work, not to mention the lawsuits apple is famous for...

i dont think it would make much sense. iphone has a processor about 800 mhz right? it wont create a performance thats near to any androidphone, it would probably lose against my x10 with 1ghz and 384 mb ram.... Maybe one could build donut or froyo for it andbthat would also run like it should after two years in development or so, but who would use it (you wouldnt by an iphone if android was on it, because any androidphone would give better performance for lower price, so you buy it because it works better than android and, oh yes, the apple...) I think it would be much cooler to port ios to work on androidphones, soon, when apple "invented" all features of android, it will still have the better performance, thet even hardest androidfans have to see.

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen though...apple would shut it down the moment they heard of it...
iOS is closed source...that being said it requires permission to work with it. With out permission you are illegally working on it. It would not be allowed on xda due to lack of permission...
As for porting android to iPhone...as I said earlier I don't see that happening either...there's not enough demand and we have no drivers/proprietary files to work with
