Can anyone confirm that it is working? I have a customer complain, that this feature doesn't work... (settings are enabled). I've tested it on stock LT15 arc and my X10 with many roms, I seldom use SMS and hate them, so I didn't notice this problem.
I've goggled a bit for this issue, nothing fresh came out.
Any clues?
OK. I've found out partially what is the cause of my dumbness. It shows a marker in threaded view. (I thought it shows message passing to outbox as in email). Although I didn't these markers in HTC UI style Android phones. It seems I was to used up to the idea about report in a message format. In stock Andtroid you have to long press the message and press view report. Although on my Nitdroid UMAY Nokia N900i it didn't work

I find it crazy that SMS-Chat seems to be the only program for Windows Mobile that combines touch-friendly scrolling with threaded messaging.
I have a Palm Treo Pro and in order to see the text I type, I have to hit enter, and then backspace, and then I can start typing.
My question: Is there an alternative to this? I would use the regular sms built into WM6 but in order to scroll up and down, I have to use the tiny scroll bar on the right instead of being able to scroll by touching and pulling the middle of the screen.
Yes, I've googled the crap out of this so I come to you guys seeing if anyone has a diamond in the dirt.

Thanks a lot for the link!
My only problem with this program is it doesn't show you the full content of each text from one person in a thread, and it doesn't default to the last text sent, it starts at the top which is a problem for a thread with many texts. I like it though, and hope to see improvements in the final versions.
MKH SMS (beta version and unstable)
Requirements: wm5+ compact framework 2+
it said "MKH software MKH SMS" cannot be installed. To try installing to a different location, chose a location" but it fails for SD card and phone memory. Weird.
Bump if anyone knows a good sms program. Like I said, it seems there is a problem on Palm Treo Pro's where the text won't show up when you type to a person unless you hit enter, then backspace. It's a hassle to do every time I send a text. Is there any program like this?
I hear certain ROMS will fix this issue but i'm not too savvy on roms..
Have you tried 'Pocket Contact Manager'
A bit old, but works ok on my 'old' device, displaying contacts but also SMS in a threaded way...
http://www.pocketcm.com/
And... ho... It's freeware !
I am looking for one myself for a long time and could found nothing.
1. SMS Chat - has lots of bugs, with an inbox with 50 or more messages, it freezes all the times. Contact with developer, no response
2. Slide2Send - slow as hell, missing lots of features
3. MKH SMS - very buggy, trying to scroll thru the messages is a pain
4. PocketCM - not really a replacement as you have to open a contact to see the list of SMS
5. Samsung SilverInBox - so buggy that even samsung have hidden it on the ROM
Can't find a good (or even resonable) message app that is finger friendly.
Tried another one, SMS at Hand, one of the ugliest interface (and confusing) I have ever seen.
If you wanna try MKH SMS, use this installer, it will work (removed Russian lang file, problem with cyrillic chars on the file name).
BTW, MKH SMS seem to be the only one still in development, you might try to contact the developer at http://www.mkh-soft.com/mkh-sms.aspx (it is in Russian).
Just a quick tip, if you tap on the top bar (middle), you will get some popups, like Settings (if you are at the folder list view), Delete SMS (if you are reading one), ...
I wish I knew coding. It's just kinda annoying I have to hit enter, then backspace just to see the text i'm typing in SMS-Chat. I love the program, but this is a pain. Even on their website help it suggests doing that...for a paid program.
no others?
I am using SMS at Hand. never can get it right. I do not want to be the default sms handler.
just like other sms program, no support for sending sms, u will only see the beautiful skin when scrolling the messages.
At the moment you click send new message it will go into the ugly ms default.
I am sticking with MKH SMS for now. Developer seen willing to move it forward, been talking with him about problems, suggestions and new translations. Version 1.2 seem very promissing.
Btw, it replaces the send sms with a graphical touch based one, you should try it.
there is 1.2?
Version 1.2 is still in development, but looks promising.
Hopefully easily skinnable as well!
Yes. The skin is a file with an extension of *.th, but that is only a zip file with some images a config (text) file. It comes with an iphone like skin. Would be nice to have at least two more, a manila and a diamond.
Translate is also easy, it is a text file (I have done one to Brazilian Portuguese).

Click to collapse
can we try it?
Just tried MKH on my HD Mini and it works just fine. also seems to take only half the memory of HTC Messages.
Does anyone know how I can disable threaded SMS? I absolutely hate "conversation" view, and just want the classic chronological list of all messages.
I tried Handcent, but I don't see an option to do it there, either.
Can anyone help?
I would suggest returning your phone and buying a flip gophone.
But seriously, I heard SMS Composer is a non-threaded SMS app.
Edit: I checked, yes it is.
I thought I remembered reading some unpleasant things about that app - I don't remember if it had to do with stability, lack of functionality, or something shady - but it caused me to write that off.
I'll be honest, I'm rather shocked that there isn't more support for this. I've certainly seen enough other people asking for the same thing.
On older Windows Mobile phones, you could change a registry setting to disable threaded SMS and revert to classic mode.
Is there something similar that can be done with Android? Or does an app need to specifically be coded for this?
GO SMS Pro
settings, Appearance, conversation customization, conversation style, list style
make sure when you launch GO SMS Pro you are running full mode (dont worry, it will ask you)
The app has to be coded for it. And SMS Composer has a good rating on App Brain. I don't see anything shady about it, really, and it worked while I tested it for a few minutes. I will admit I didn't get too into it though.
Edit: Seems there is another app called SMS Tray that does it, but I don't believe it is free and the Lite edition is a timed trial.
I don't mind paying, if it's worth it. Thanks for the reference, I'll have a look.
Coming here from [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554551], since I can't post there anymore:
I'm using Sony Ericsson X10i with a MBW-150 and Openwatch 1.5 of course. I recently upgraded Android to 2.3.3 and now my watch randomly disconnects and doesn't reconnect, even if I leave my phone and then return. Usually it took <30 seconds for them to reconnect, but I have given them minutes and still no reaction. I have to push a button on my watch to make it reconnect.
Any upcoming solution on this, or any information, I would be thankful.

since not being allowed to post in the development forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554551]), i have to ask here:
firt of all, i'm using a google nexus s with NSCollab 1.0.39 and it works pretty good, so you may add the device to the "tested or reportet" list.
but i have two (minor) issues:
the sender and subject is not displayed on the watch when i recieve an email, using the modded gmail 2.3.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16265599), neither with "classic" notification nor "all notifications".
i want to start the music app (or maybe other apps, mytracks for gps tracking for example) remotely. i can easily find out the package, its com.google.android.music, but which classname do i have to fill in and where can i find it out?
nevertheless, thanks for this great app.
I am also not allowed to post in the previously mentioned thread in the development section, but have some questions:
I recently purchased the thinkgeek watch (apparently without reading the development thread thoroughly enough) and it does not work quite as well as would be desired. As stated before, when I "test" the connection after following the instructions for the LM watches, it vibrates, but does not activate the screen. I am using the fake mdw-150 device type. In terms of notification functionality:
At first I was able to connect to the watch, and it gave me the option of two different messaging lines and global notifications and the whole nine yards. Subsequently, it did not give me these options. I think something funny happened with the paired devices in the bluetooth menu that I have to figure out. All functionality I am referencing here is after the options available to me was reduced.
Phone Calls: Vibrates, no text
SMS: Nothing
Alarm: Vibrates, No text
Media: Nothing
Gmail: Nothing
That is the extent of my testing at this point. I'm going to try fixing the goofyness that is going on with my bluetooth paired devices, then possibly try installing cyanogenmod and seeing if there's any root tools I can use that might help (my phone is a rooted nexus s running stock 4.0.3 if that helps you.) I'll update this when I have more thoroughly explored this to the best of my abilities.
I mean a GOOD app, which means it needs to support delivery reports - I need to know the SMS I sent with it has been received.
That is the most crucial function and the lack of it makes the following apps completely useless to me:
- MightyText
- AirDroid
- DeskSMS
I am baffled how their developers can keep them on the market since years without this function.
The only exception is/was EasySMS, but it is very old, slow, no longer developed and it doesn't work on Android 4.4 (and some stock 4.2 roms). It still works on CM-based 4.3 roms, though.
I'm answering my own question here in hope it will help someone else, too.
After 3 years (no joke), I finally found the solution: mySMS. It comes with an sms app for the phone, but you can keep using your old favourite sms app and the remote sms with delivery reports will still work (as long as mysms is installed).
Plus, the phone does not need to be connected to the internet when you're writing the message. It will be sent as soon as the phone goes online. Excellent.
Now, the only thing I am waiting for is delivery time deport, so that I know when exactly the message was received. They are very responsive on their idea/problem/suggestion forum so I am relatively hopeful.
But for now, I am happy with it as it.
Yet I am still surprised this is the only app that does that.
And to all of the zounds of people who for the last two years were being consistently ignored by MightyText developers - here's your solution!
Has anyone seen this in action? I know Samsung is supporting, but do not know if it is in their messaging app yet. I installed Android Messages to see what was up, and got the enhanced messaging update message. I don't know anyone with all the requirements to see if it works. From my understanding you have to have a phone that supports (S8 does), carrier that supports ( Sprint does), and app that supports (Android Messages). Can't wait to see when one of my contacts has all requirements.
Big to do about this in Feb., but little since. Hope this flies!
I am definitely interested in this too. It worked pretty well on my Note 4.
Under Android Messages, mine never passes the screen that says its complete.
