Hello guys, I tried to follow a thread here about sysctl on my x10.
Installed the app but when I tried to launch sysctl it always force closes, tried setting up the configuration for sysctl using droid overclock but when I save changes and exit this application it force closes too.
tried running terminal emulator to enable sysctl and when I hit enter it brings me back "unable to give rights"
Any ideas what could be wrong ? suggestions.
thanks

Very suddenly youtube stopped working on my NC, tried to use astro to uninstall but no joy. The app just shutdown when it goes to launch; any info on a fix is appreciated.
This solution was posted by Bimboy in these forums. My youtube tends to go wacky every once in awhile and this fix works every time.
From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button
Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.
Thank you for the info, i appreciate you taking the time to spell it out for me.
The other thing that made YouTube stop working for me was that I added my account in the YouTube app, which was the same one I used to register my NC. Apparently this seems to be an issue. I cleared the data and I am back working again, but I am not going to enter My Channel again.
I used mini info to wipe data... just wanted to add that in case anyone wanted an alternative
I have also noticed that I have to do the TB "wipe data" fix every time the phone boots up. This has been annoying with the random reboots that happen with the NC. Hope there is a permanent fix for this soon.
Does anyone know if there is a way to write a script that could execute this upon every boot?

Not sure about a script, but "Tasker" should be able to do that for you (from the Market). I don't have this issue, but that would be a pain to deal with as many times as I reboot my NC during the day for testing.
I poached the "fix" portion of the script here to fix youtube... It seemed to work fine. In short, I did this:
Code:
adb shell mount -o rw,remount -t ext2 /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
adb shell busybox rm /data/data/com.google.android.youtube -r
adb reboot
Hope this helps.

I've asked on a separate thread as well...what if i've deleted youtube. I don't see it in the market which doesn't make much sense that i wouldn't be seeing a general app there.... but how do i dnld it again? Hope i don't have to re root the NC.
i've tried to care about you tube. really.
but i can't.
good luck
you tube is in the market and the .apk is posted here a million times. should be pretty easy to find.
i just wipe the data and start over
Does any one know an app which can reboot the android app on a scheduled time?
My samsung galaxy ace keeps on hogging the memory over a period of time and becomes slow.
If i can get an app which can reboot my phone everyday automatically, then I think my memory issue will be solved.
I tried using appkiller, task killer, fast reboot and similar apps. Though it clears the ram, but it will not be as good as rebooting.
If this app is not yet there in the market, then I think this is a good app to be developed.
Developers out there, would you like to give a try?
-Thanks

As I have mentioned in my initial question itself, I need an app which actually restarts the phone and not kill the app/process and restart them.
Also I have tried this app and it is not helping me.
You could use a script with Script Manager that reboots the phone and set it on a schedule. I do this with the V6 Supercharger script, there's an option that wipes dalvik then reboots. When you run it, an individual script that does only that is created and you can then put it on a schedule.
You can download the script here - all this does is wipe dalvik cache then reboot. Download Script Manager and find the script with the browser. When you click on it, make it look like this: run as root, configure as favorite, and is script should be checked. In SM's settings, I have the favorites screen open by default. Select menu then scheduler and set up a schedule for it to run. You can download SM widgets and create a shortcut or widget for it and do it whenever you want if that'd be easier.
If you need further assistance or if the script doesn't work feel free to pm me, I can send you screenshots of the process if it'll help.

Downloaded latest update to Titanium last night. When I ran it, I got a dialog that says: Your ROM is rooted but the "su" binary has non-optimal access rights which may cause problems
Titanium pro can fix this problem automatically in many cases. Do you want to proceed?
NO YES, DO IT
What should I do???
When it asked me I had it fix automatically on accident but everything worked for me thank god lol...(dont place me responsible if you have problems though )

I saw the same message.
I selected 'No' simply because...if it ain't broke...don't fix it!
...now off to get that tasty 1.4.1 update. NOT!
is there a thread that goes over all the new features or what 1.4.1 fixes?
If there is, I haven't seen it yet.
I am glad that nothing bad apparently happened when the "Titanium root fix' was applied.
Makes me want to go do it now.
Yea and honestly it's because I'm a Neanderthal and my fat finger hit it by accident. I was glad too
I selected yes and nothing bad happened.... At least not yet... Lol

Anyone know what this does? just changes the permissions of "su"? i.e. like "chmod 755 su" or something?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a way to automate the installation of applications, setting up the phone as in: placing shortcuts on the homescreen, changing various settings etc. It is on new phones, straight out of the box, so I don't think Titanium Backup is a solution. I'm wanting to automate the process as much as possible.
I've played a bit around with adb install, which works fine except that the applications I install are not registered as installed in the Market (can't uninstall or update them, only open).
Has anyone had a similar issue which they managed solved? I would be grateful for some pointers.
Best solution I've seem to be able to find is something along the lines of; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...o-change-settings-or-perform-tasks-on-a-phone
Anyone, please?
App Backup Restore by infolife
Just keep clicking "done" and "install"
I think this will help you. if it does please THANK me.

What do you mean?
Depends how automatic u want it. This app just needs u to keep touching the install button. I don't think u can make it any easier.
App Backup Restore,
Once u use it to backup apps, and want to restore them, it launches all the install screens/package installers together. So u install one, the other install screen is right behind. Just keep touching install Byron
