Custom ROM's with embedded apps - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do any of the new 2.2 ROM's have Mediascape as well as Timescape installed?
Also, I would like to flash the [MODROM] scamble_v01.2[CM6.1.3] or one like it, with Timescape and Mediascape built in. Reason for this ROM is Astro and Gscript, other things that escape me now.
Thanks for all the hard work on these things.

You can install GScript and Astro for free in any ROM and yes many ROMs have Timescape or Mediscape but many require you to install after as an add-on.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!

Mediascape causes soon much lag. It is my most hated application from sony ericsson.

New X10 owner

I recently acquired an X10a and I quickly upgraded it to 2.1. I'm using LauncherPro and so far, I'm loving the phone except for a couple of issues:
1) No matter what keyboard I use, it's really slow. I'm a fast typist and so far Swype and SwiftKey seem to work a lot more slowly than on my Samsung vibrant.
2) when I receive picture messages, and tap on the picture to view it in Mediascape, nothing happens. The only way I can view the picture is with Astro.
Any suggestions?
Finally, I'd love to upgrade to Froyo. My ideal ROM would be close to stock Froyo that's reliable and gets good battery life, nothing fancy.
Thanks everyone

Installing jit v2 should help the stock rom but if you wanna upgrade I suggest Z's beta 4 if you want vanilla or a lot of people use wolfbreaks if you want a prettier alternative. Note: do not install jit in froyo roms as it is already included and will cause problems if you install it again.

Edit- ok, stock 2.1 is tons better. What's the easiest way back?
Actually, you'll really love it with Wolfbreak's FroYo ROM. Flash it and let it settle a few days and it's hella snappy with awesome battery performance. But the batt performance sadly is only if you can live without timescape, in my expperience. Flashing his ARC Timescape made the phone hela LAGGY and the battery burned off 1% a minute. I deleted all the TS stuff and it went back to awesomness.
Also I personally like sicNside's Lucid theme for WB's ROM, but there's a catch there as well. It'll modify some system apps. Bad thing because itll take away the awesome phonebook/dialer from ARC. I have, however, redone the zip for Wolf's ROM to make it not do that.
That's my $0.02

Awesome ROM i'm using right now is Freex10 Beta 4 (Android 2.2), with the video recorder fixed. The ROM is stable and excellent. Runs really fast.

If you want a really good looking ROM, try the Bitsnacker 2.1 rom. It is basically the stock rom with the bitsnacker blue glow theme.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005636
If you mean THEMES, check the bitsnacker theme out for the x10 which works on android 2.1 stock and 2.2 Free X10 Beta 4 (for Freex10 ignore first post, check the second half way down the screen)

Battery drain
Good, and what about battery drain? I installed it yesterday, and I've got 17% in 18 hours with no use at all. Now I don't know that it is because of launcher or because of a Minimalistic Text widget I putted.
Any ideas?

Apologies for sounding like a complete noob but...

Are there any available apk files for mik's cm7 Rom? For things like LG home? I've downloaded a few from various places but they always force close and are usually hdpi, so look wrong on my screen. I'd quite like the original clock widget as well as I would like my Rom to look like stock LG (already have the keyboard) but fly like cm7 does, any help will be GREATLY appreciated, thanks guys

Original X8 apps

Anyone has the original apps for Contacts/Dialer/Recent Calls, Messaging. I have installed GingerDX but I didn't like the GDX version of those apps.
If someone who doesn't have the x8 customized and could upload those, I would really appreciate it.

Apply a SE-theme in theme chooser, it should also give you SE-themed versions of those apps

No, because it wont work. Instead if you are using GDX theres a update zip in first post which includes SE Arcs timescape. Also you can flash Gingercruzt which has pretty nice SE theme and some SE apps.

How to Install SE Apps in Custom ROM

Hi all,
like many I've seen in here, I love the features and designs of the custom ROMS, but there are a few apps from SE which we like to keep. The thing is, if I copy and paste them into system/app and set permissions, the apps still don't work, they force quit. What do you do to make them work? E.g. original calendar, alarm etc.? do you need to copy SE settings.apk or something else?
Thanks
You cant install them because those apps are not compatible with custom roms
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Huh? I've read some people say here that they've installed some original SE apps like alarm etc.
Also, I have successfully installed the newest version of the phonebook and dialer and the original camera - they're really nice.
But I can't install the others - I especially want the original alarm, calendar (the SE one doesn't require internet, it is ABSURD to require a connected account and internet for a quick look at a calendar, and I do not want or need appointments in my phone), notes etc.
What rom do you use?
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
I've been using GingerDXv15 but just installed MiniCM2.1. Again, the camera and phonebook from newer SE roms are working fine in both...but the rest of the apps, no.
From newer SE roms, not from SE 2..1
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Umm
Camera - SE 2.1
Phonebook - SE 2.3
It is because standard apps require stuff from SE framework. Custom Roms use CM framework.
You would need to either modify the app or the framework to fix dependencies.

Could you please provide me the link of apps? I also want to have stock camera.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Hi, the camera doesn't work in every ROM but I'm currently test MiniCM and it definitely works, in fact, the newer framework (ArcMini theme) makes it better than it did in stock 2.1 if you ask me.
So copy it to system/app using Root Explorer with these permissions:
x x
x
x
For MiniCM, there is the stock Android camera in there, I just left that there (for the video) because the stock camera doesn't use the video, it closes the app. I use the same permissions with the phonebook.
P.s. these mods of apps are not of my creation, thank you to those who provided them (I collected them a long time ago on here). Thank you!
