I just rooted my phone and installed Gladenable to enable tethering and sideloading on the Atrix.
Sideloading works great but still i can't start tethering.
I can't put up a new apn for at&t because the phone won't accept it.
Is there a way to enable tethering on my rooted and unlocked atrix?
Google Barnacle and install that. It is the best wifi tethering app out there. It should work fine as long as you make sure you give it super user rights when it first starts.
If you can't give it superuser rights make sure that your phone is rooted correctly and you have busybox installed
Problem fixed... Added tether to my normal apn and it accepts it.

After installing Superclean 2.9.2v, 3G Hotspot and Allshare still seem to be in the apps drawer. I thought flashing this rom would remove all VZW bloatware. Was my wipe incomplete? I did a full wipe 3 times ebfore flashing.
Also, I installed flash 10.2 from the market and still cannot seem to get flash media to work. It always asks me to enable or download the latest update.
Lastly, I cannot get any wifi tethering to work using Wireless Tether.
Should all of these be working right out of the box, sans 3g hotspot and allshare from verizon?
Reflash 2.9.2 and for thethering download barnacle wifi
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
mine had all those too!
if i could find 3g hotspot id freeze it but i don't know the name in titanium backup. allshare was easy to find.
flash and wireless tethering still missing ...and those are the main features of a froyo root.
I have a question about the netflix apk with device check disabled.
I had gingerblur and didnt like it,so I flashed back to .83.
I'm rooted again and sideload enabled as well as webtop hack and tether hack, when I push the apk to the phone and attempt to open it it doesnt allow me to.
It says a new version is available and to update in order to use the app,but it doesn't let me update since atrix isnt a supported device?
Does anyone know how to get around this,it was working fine until I flashe the phone..help!!
Edit found the answer and new apk sorry no need to answer my post problem solved...
This GN2 is my first venture into Samsung phones, coming from a Moto Droid 2 Global. With the Moto I did root, flash several roms, occasionally soft-brick and have to restore to stock- so I am familiar with these concepts. But doing it the Samsung way is totally new to me.
I used the Root66 file to root the GN2. I can use Rom Toolbox and TiBu. FoxFi Wireless works but I cannot get Wireless Tether, Open Garden, or Barnacle to work. They do start up and appear to be working, but my computer cannot see them. I read in another post that perhaps BusyBox should be installed, so I did that with JRummy's version- still no wireless. Wireless tethering is our ONLY internet access at home because we live in an area with no broadband availability.
I also want to install the toolkit, put all apps in Multi-Window, and move apps to SD. Do I have to unlock the bootloader before I can do any of those things?
Thanks in advance for educating this Sammy noobie!
You need to go into settings in wireless tether and play with the driver reload checkboxs until you find an option that works for you. Check the log for errors as well after you turn on tethering.

Do you have errors in your log? I had errors until I checked the right driver option.
Here's my setup on the TrevE mod version
Profile: Galaxy S3
Setup method: netd-NDC
Send NetD Max Client command: checked
wifi driver reload: checked
wifi driver reload 2: NOT checked
Routing fix:checked
That's it, and I have no errors in my log.
just install a rom, unlocked stock tethering works fine on em.

-> I wanna point out that GN2 needs to be treated differently....but like you said, flashing rom and retrieving nandroid should be same concept as your Moto Droid2. And yes! It should be new to you!

-> There are 2 ways to fix your wifi tethering issues after rooting and unlocking your device.
1. by flashing any rom that already has hacked hotspot or working wifi tether apk
2. by installing wifi tether after rooting and unlocking bootloader on your existing stock rooted image.
If you're not considering option #1, then you can google search WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012, install it, and change settings as follows.
Change Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Change Setup-Method: Netd-Ndc (master)
Send Netd Max Client Cmd: check
Enable WiFi-Encryption: your choice
WiFi-Driver Reload1,2: check both
Enable Access Control: your choice
Keep Alive-Connection Checking....: your choice
Routing Fix: check
Disable Wake-Lock: your choice (i prefer to check)

Toolkit is pretty much useless because it won't let you unlock the bootloader because of credibility issue.
First root your phone as posted here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
Then, unlock your device by following Adam Outler's post

When I click on the install button for the TrevE mod apk, the phone does nothing. I'm using an apk installer app and I am rooted but do not have the phone unlocked. How did you install?

So you get the install window but then it never installs? Sounds like a bad apj download. Try again
Hello all. I'm having fun with this phone (t-mobile optimus l9 p769). I have rooted without unlocking bootloader.
No custom rom or anything just stock 4.1.2 JB. I am having an issue where while wifi tethering if i am downloading a large file through windows 8 laptop running chrome ua string safari and wifi tether for root users the data will drop and the file will cease to download with (unknown network error). The only modification I have done is install artas' tweaks for stock rom. I'm not sure if that is what could be causeing it or not. I dont know of a way to revert from those tweaks to find out. If anyone would have some info on this I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks...

I have been getting lots of drop outs also here in San Antonio. It might be the LTE rollout or maybe T-Mobile is mad because I use so much data.
Are you using the built-in tether or a root tether app with my instructions here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201062

I used your method to enable tethering. But I have to use chrome browser with ua spoofer in order to surf. Is that how you are able to accomplish it?

No. You should be able to tether without hiding your activity.
This is how to enable free hotspot on the sprint variant of the G3. Keep in mind this could brick your device. I do not even recommend doing it until we have a custom recovery available. So if you do have any problems hopefully you all can use the LG flash tool to return to stock. I have tested this and it does work.
steps to get free Factory Native Hot Spot:
1. Download this. Sorry pulled the link until we have recovery.
2. Extract the file you just downloaded
3. If you didn't download it from your phone, then place the two files on your internal storage of your phone
4. Install a file explorer like Root Explorer that allows you to access the root of your system and allows you to edit factory framework files and apks.
5. Open the Root Explorer or whatever File explorer you are using and navigate to the internal storage and copy the Services.jar and Services.odex that you extracted from the zip above.
6. Navigate to Root and go to /System, then Choose the Framework folder. Make sure the system is mounted R/W
7. Now hit paste.Hit overwrite existing files. Once the two files are pasted, change the permissions so that they match the other framework file permissions.
8. Reboot your device.
9. If your device boots back up fine you are set to go.
10. Once you setup the WiFi hotspot settings you want in the settings menu, you can launch the hotspot with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jaconet.fixtether which will do all the profile resetting for you and get you up and running. (thank you IM0001 for finding this step)
Note: This mod does work. However most of the times after you enable hotspot you need to go to settings and update your profile to get data to pass through the connection. Sorry I have yet to figure out this bug.
WARNING: I have no clue how this mod responds to ART. Use at your own risk.
Once again, I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone. This can very easily brick your device if not done correctly. This is a chance you the user are taking.
As soon as we have a custom recovery, I will make this into a flashable zip for all to use.
Great job, hopefully you can unlock this phone the way you did the G2
I'm sure I can. I will start as soon as my other g3 arrives
Thanks man
Thanks for this! Works just like you said. I also had to update profile before data would go through. I haven't tried it more than once, so I don't know yet if I'll have to update profile each time.
Just a word of warning, I don't know if it was due to ART or FX browser, but the instant I copied the files over the phone rebooted and failed enough time to switch back to Davilk and then boot, but now most apps will not launch. Just a heads up to be careful. I am not sure why it rebooted before I could change permissions but I believe thats why it's screwed up now.
Working for me, thanks!

I have never tried it with art. Sorry if you had issues with it. I will put a warning up on the op.
Just another heads up. Once you setup the WiFi hotspot settings you want in the settings menu, you can launch the hotspot with jTether which will do all the profile resetting for you and get you up and running. Its the same "bug" on the EVO LTE, M7, M8, etc and it works for the G3 as well.
Interesting...off to try this, hoping it goes smooth
awesome, thanks for all the hard work!
I can't get LTE tethering working. It only works when I switch to CDMA in network mode.

If you get "WiFi Tether Router" you can change the "method" to "2 - Android Version 4.2 Or Higher" and it works great for LTE tethering.
Working thanks for the hard work.

Thanks, works great. Did i have to still follow the instructions in the OP? If not, can i just uninstall that app he has us using to get native tethering working?
Did you manually install the files in the op,change permissions, reboot, then ran jtether to start the Hotspot? (it has to be started with the app. Not the settings menu.)
Do you have the stock files that we over wrote... I think I'm having a issue.. But not sure it's related to this but want to eliminate all variables
So far so good! Need to test on LTE
So am I really blind?? Where is Sprint g3 root? Thanks
Edit: I found it
