Another Case Of The Broken Micro USB Port Or Is It? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
So last nite i was recalibrating my battery using the guide in the General Section, i woke up this morning to put some files on the sd card by connecting it to my laptop, usually as soon as u connect u get the usual mount options, but for some reason now it just charges (which is very patchy cos u gta wiggle it sometimes) and does nothing else, so i cant mount SD Card and computer does not recognise phone plus im stuck on trips miui rom so cant xactly jus take it as it is to Carphone warehouse where the phone was supplied from. im on vodafone in the uk, wondering if theres nyway around this. im guessing not but i fort id ask

you can use sd card converter or buy a $5 CAD usb card reader and put it in your computer and drag and drop a more stable ROM and flash it through xrecovery and use driver that is included with the freex10 flashtool and install it on your computer. hope this fixes everything :-D

Greetings from Midlands!
I think you would like to flash the stock rom (there's someone who prepared xRec zips, search for them) and unroot your phone before taking it to Carphone or a SE service point.

How to uprage to wm2005 using SD-CARD procedure ???

As a result of a car accident I lost the ability to connect my Himalaya using the USB cradle. The data port on the phones board was completely smashed. I had it repaired only to allow my xdaII to recharge from it's power adapter but not from the cradle, that's how I lost all usb functionality.
Now I've previously read some methods and instructions on how to upgrade the xdaII using some modified rom files which are then stored on a SD-Card and then installed from the bootloader without the use of a USB connection.
Can anyone here tell me exactly how this is done ? What are the steps needed to convert the available rom files on this site to a format that would work from the sd-card ? I would also like to know, whether this method supports upgrading the radio and the extended rom in addition to the windows rom ?
Your help and assistance on this matter will be highly appreciated. As I can no longer upgrade my phone using the usb method. I will be depending on your help you guys. I've got faith in u, so don't let me down.
I also want to know it! Please help!!
Find another xda2 that has a working USB connection, insert your SD card in it, and use the attached file to copy the rom to your sd card. Then place the sd card in your xda2 go to boot loader mode and that is it.
The only problem is that whenever you want to change the rom version you will have to use another xda2 that has a working usb to transfere the rom image on your sd card.

hd2 usb port

hi guys,
I'm in Australia on the Telstra network, and have had an issue with the charging and sync through the micro usb port, i was running winmo6.5 miri at the time, and because of the usb sync issue i couldnt flash it back to the original OS.
is there anyone that could recomend a fix for this problem? what ive done is sent it away to be fixed through telstra, maybe they wont realise there was a different OS on there after replacing the (hardware?) issue, and then wipe it? that will be under warranty, but i have a feeling that its not going to happen and the service with no fix will cost me $50, is there any other way i can reflash the device without usb sync? or has anyone replaced internal hardware on the device before?
anyway, let me know
cheers.
you can reflash via memory card.
can someone post the thread discussing memory card reflashing?
Extract your rom and rename the RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh then copy it to your memory card, put memory card back in phone, hold volume down button and power on the phone, then follow the instructions, Make sure you use the correct rom for your phone.
This may help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrmlqrfCvas
i should try and get the phone off them and reflash it before sending away again..... ****.

[Q] Is my USB bricked?

Hello guys.
I just bought a used xperia x10. It boots normally also sd card works but
when i connect it to pc it charges but the pc says nothing about any hardware found or so. like if i connected it to the PC when it is off.
tryed with both my PCs windows 7 64 bit and 32 bit also with 2 different usb cables. still no success.
the phone has following in Info:
Android Version
2.3.3
Baseband-Version
2.1.71
Kernel-Version
2.6.29-00054.g5f01537
[email protected] #1
3.0.1.G.0.75
Is this a USB brick?
If you're able to boot normally, I don't think your phone is bricked. My best guess would be an issue with the SD card. Have you tried reformatting the SD card?
Or if you have a spare SD card lying around, you could try that in place of your current one to check if it will connect to your PC.

how can tghe phone be bricked if its booting?
To OP: have you tried a new cable and a different computer?
the usb port on the X10 is iffy at best, mine stops charging at the slightest move of the cable..
Could try uninstalling seus from your PC and reinstalling it. Fresh the drivers will be freshly installed.

[Q] SD card access whilst phone is switched off

Hi guys, i need a lil help with this asap, my SD card is fubar'ed, it only works in my X10 mini pro, the bigest problem i have broken my X10 mini pro,
so i need a driver to access the SD card whilst phone is plugged in and charging
Thanks Peeps

That depends how broken your phone is. You may be able to use ADB to copy everything off the card, or you may be able to go into CWM if you have it installed and mount the USB storage.

Cant it be read if u put it in card reader? or probably u can try to use "phone explorer software" and access it using your pc. i dont know if it will work that way.

[VZW] [GS4] simple question SD card I don't know

Background - I'm working on rooting my 32gb GS4 and was told to put some files on my SD card.
I got the Samsung class 10 64gb card and it the phone recognizes it fine
It did not come with an adapter for my PC, so I'm wondering how I put some files on the SD card for the phone
(like my license for titanium backup)
Do I do this through the phone when it is hooked up to my PC? (I did not see the SD card when it opened the phone as a folder)
Do I need an adapter for the microSD card? I have an old adapter for a 1gb card I got like 7 years ago, but will that even work?
Thank you for your help and suggestions.

That white cord you use to charge your phone . . that is used to transfer data to your phone too. There should be no problem seeing both internal and sdcard, at least I never have. But I installed the Samsung drivers like right away, so maybe that is why though I doubt it.

OK, I'll try installing the updated drivers and check back.
[note Windows 8] What happened when I plugged the phone in it says it can update the phone or I can view it as a folder. I viewed it as a folder then after about one minute the phone shuts down and it looses the folder. While I was in the folder, it did not show the SD card.
I did not update because I want to avoid the phone updating the ME7 like the plague.
Thank you very much for your help.

OK, I got the updated drivers but I didn't instal them yet. I had installed drivers previously.
I tried out putting it in developer mode, did not work. When I was reading the guides on the drivers and adb and fast tools, it suggested using download mode (slow downloads at the links included and I could only get one per hour). I tried booting it in download mode and then it still did not work. I shut it down and saw a weird thing I have not seen before with a power level meter (its OK). I powered it back up (while plugged in) and finally it recognized the device as a disk and I got the phone and the card. I put the files on it (it did not want to put the .txt file on there) and I unplugged it. It was odd because this time the phone shut down, but the drive stayed active.
I don't know if it will repeat or not, but I'm just glad I got those things on right away.
Thank you for your help, without reading about how to instal the drivers on a PC, I would not have figured it out. [even though I already installed the drivers]
