@D4, microsoft security essentials reports apkpush download as a serious threat:

Due to the app using a command script all the time, and executing that in the background, anti-virus and similar ones get "false-positives".
I dont think you need to worry about that. i use this with AVG and nothing shows up. (unless we use adb.exe, that too is a false positive.)

Himalaya and Android ?

Hi,
I see, many people are trying to port the Google OS, Android.
Are people out there porting a version to our loved Himalaya ?
That would be great
Or why doesn't it start then ?
I start the haret-0.5.1.exe and then run. It says even its name, Himalaya, in the box below. But then it doesn't load the kernel ?!
Is there a way to run android on the himalaya ?
Wow Himalaya and Android ... this will be great... any info?
Any info, update please?
As I remember linux kernel has HIMALAYA compiling platform built-in, so we can compile it easy.

I will manage to dual-boot
Yes i can upload this..

I can upload a Linux Kernel with SSH and a much of Modules (Drivers) for the Himalaya too.. This run, but i cant connect with SSH, the IP is 192.168.0.206, and the port is normal.. No connection say linux-ssh. the SSH Server is dropbear?
i load all files up and i hope anybody fix it

Upload what you already did, we will work at this at group.
You can use 7zip to compress it, it has very nice compression level, so output file won't be big.
Sorry, RAR is my favorite packer
for another languages as german, please change this entry in the default.txt:
set INITRD "\Speicherkarte\android.bin"
to the right named path. (\Storage Card\ <- for english peoples)
the ram_disk_size entry is 2000, this is important!! more ram = android hangs on the bootscreen
haret_pre_0.5.3 is the newest version of haRET.
copyrights go to google, another forums an xdadevelopers users. i have search 2 days for all files and 1 day to work
here my tutorial:
1. copy all files to your storage card
2. change the "set INITRD" line to your language.
3. close all programms
4. its optional: make a backup
5. open haRET with file explorer or another
6. click on Go!
7. ???
8. PROFIT!!!
have fun and good luck

Sorry for doulbe post
I have a worked Linux too, with SSH and much of modules (touchscreen with PS/2 support!) But i cant connect with SSH !
the filesize is 6mb, i can directly upload this.
i have tryed to mix this kernel (zImage2.6.12) with the Andorid initfs, but it hang on the root detect..
the ip is 192.168.0.206, the better way is linux as host, windows have problems with the linux-community USB drivers for access the phone.. i have use VMWare, linux not running native on my **** old Pentium-IV :/
its a ready-to-go package, unpack it, start haRET, and go! (all files must be in the same path)

How did you manage it to work?
How did you compile it?
I'm complete noob in linux, it would be easier to me to write new operating system than understand linux.
compile? i have found this binarys by google search but i found a link for the sourcecode, you need a linux-system and a good crosscompiler.. but which cpu arch is it? than we got it, can we make a new kernel with new programs!
and work, its a puzzle, i download it, and testing various possibilities
good the CPU arch is ARM-v5TE.
this sounds good, i have a qemu-arm machine to directly compile some tools
the problem is, the linux kernel have not any modules for the "Disk-on-Chip" device.. the only solution is to use a storage card..

Man, DoC works as I booted linux from there, as linux rom
I think this android does not hang, but no touchscreen driver and no keyboard mapping means it looks like a hang (if clock does not work too, it may be no quartz driver installed)
You do realise this is a big moment for the himalaya!
ALSO do i copy the extracted folder to storage card or device memory?

this is a variant too.. we must testing the zImage-2.6.12 kernel of the other package, this has all important modules for the Himalaya (touchscreen as ps/2 mice, sound and other good things).. or X11 would (rich?).
i want install linux on my pentium 4 again.. i hope its run, ubuntu and xubuntu hang up on X11, then its run, i can make a better initrd (with good SSH support) or a new kernel!

o just for those who have antivirus protection turn it off before unpack zip an using the program.
D4rKn3sSyS, you really are making things easier for us.
BTW, downloaded this, got a virus warning message:

Category: Trojan
Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.

I ignored it and allowed your awesome program to run. You might want to edit the first post to say that antivirus may give a false positive.
EDIT: For the extremely paranoid out there (D4rKn3sSyS is the man! Why doubt his program?), I ran the program through VirusTotal. RESULT: 5/ 42 (11.9%) returned "infected".
Works fine on mine, win 7 x64/x10 mini pro, using Avast free, no virus warning.
thx
Uploaded Linux version, tested on ubuntu, need testers on fedora and other linux OS
For linux, only will work on the root of your user Folder for ex: d4rk/files here

Partially working
Ok guys... now i have working droid wall (partially)
Mini tuto I did with root explorer:
1.- Uncompress module in sdcard and copy in folders following instructions.
2.- Give 'x' priviliges to basic_iptables.sh and full_iptables.sh (I forgot this before )
Long click over file, permissions, click on execute in Owner.
3.- Now clic on full_iptables.sh and execute. (another mistake I had was executing basic_iptables. Only works Droidwall with full_iptables for me)
4.- Go DroidWall and load firewall. All OK.
But now I have a problem. If I reboot phone, Droidwall doesn't work again. I have to run full_iptables.sh after each reboot. Do you need too???
Thanks
I added this line to hw_config.sh and it works after reboot:
sh /system/xbin/full_iptables.sh

After that you need a program to specify rules. I use Droidwall, it's free in the market. I only need to block some programs, and Droidwall does that. I hope somebody can help you.

[Q] Can't run flashtool 32-bit vista...tried everything. HELP!

****FIXED!!!!****
After creating a new user account, moving everything to the root of C (I remembered SOMETHING I used at some point had to go there) actually trying to edit the javascript myself (FAIL) and several other crazy measures, I figured out that flashtool, at least on this particular computer, MUST BE INSTALLED to C:/Windows/System32.
I've spent all day searching for the answer to this; I haven't come across anything that says "FLASHTOOL MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY." I've actually come across a few tutorials in which it is installed in other directories. I know that when I used it with windows 7, I kept the program on the desktop, as I generally do with standalone exes. So I'm assuming it's this machine, or vista. However, the main flashtool page might possibly benefit from a note "On some machines it is necessary...." or something similar.
I did find quite a few instances of similar (not exactly the same) problems; perhaps this would help those people out?
I hope someone who is having this problem stumbles across this thread....most of the search results for the complete error lead to, well...nothing.
------
I wanted to update my Xperia X10a to 2.3, but it still isn't available in my region. before I figured out THAT was the problem (duh) I stupidly allowed SEUS to "repair" my phone, thinking that maybe it would "recognize" it's software and give me the update. So now I'm stuck with 2.1 and no root. No problem...I'll just use flashtool.
Downloaded and tried running it. Asked for admin permission, then nothing. Ran as administrator, same thing. Turned off UAC, same...left it off, ran as administrator...same. I already had JDK, but I uninstalled and reinstalled all java, rebooted. Got this error:
Startup Error
java.lang.NullPointerException
at gui.FlasherGUI.initLogger(FlasherGUI.java:114)
at gui.FlasherGUI.main(FlasherGUI.java:142)
at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)

at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source)
at com.exe4j.runtime.LauncherEngine.launch(Unknown Source)
at com.exe4j.runtime.WinLauncher.main(Unknown Source)
Added this to "path" in environment variables ;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin
Rebooted. Same error.
Obviously this has something to do with Java, which I really don't know anything about. I'm desperate at this point. I wish I had just been happy with 2.1 and not even tried, but I wasn't thinking I was taking some huge chance since it's SOOOO easy to reinstall firmware, root, ect. I've lost ALL my apps/info. Was relying on Titanium backup pro, which I cant use without root. AUGH!!!! Can anyone help?
EDIT: Just followed these instructions(below), for giggles, and same error.
it doesn't seem to be common at all. I've uninstalled java and started over something like 10 times now. I'm going insane!
PREPARATION BEFORE FLASHING
PREPARATION BEFORE FLASHING
1. Download the f/w and flashtool from above link.
2. Extract Flashtool to a folder (we'll be using \X10Flash for this example)
3. Extract the f/w to \X10FLash\firmware
4. Download 32bit JDK here (JDK, Not JRE!!) . Its usually the first download from the top>>
5. Install JDK. By default it will be installed to C:\Program Files\Sun\JavaDB
6. Copy this t your clipboard "C:\Program Files\Sun\JavaDB\bin" (including "")
7. Go to your Control Panel>System>Properties>Advanced>Enviroment Variables.
8. In the System Variables section(bottom half of the window), look for 'Path' and click 'Edit'.
9. Go to the end of the line and type ';' and paste the path from earlier "C:\Program Files\Sun\JavaDB\bin". Click OK to everything after that. This will tell windows where to look for the java files so Flashtool can run properly.
10. Restart your system. Shut down your X10 Mini Pro at the same time since it need to rest in off state for about 20-30 secs. If not some X10 Mini Pro will boot automatically when u plug in the usb cable.
hey dude have u tried installing JRE coz imo JDK is needed oly when u use Android Development Kit or Android SDK and JRE for Runtime Purpose !! i used flashtool with JRE only and not JDK !! did u try out this thing ??? sorry if u have tried !!
else try and see if it might help !!
thank me if it did!!
OR
just disable your anti-virus and firewall while running.
Be sure that you have installed java 6 (from control panel)
could you run with compatibility mode Windows XP service pack 3?

Fed up with this.......

[HELP PLS!] Need some files to unbrick my phone !

Hi,
I had installed xrecovery and tried to add JIT, but wrong xrecovery (with sdcard bug) and JIT causes this error (boot loop):
~ # [[email protected] ~]$ adb logcat
- waiting for device -
link_image[1965]: 1120 could not load needed library 'libm.so' for '/system/bin/seserve_mem_region[834]: OOPS: 1120 prelinked library 'libm.so' mapped at 0x400, not at 0xafc00000)CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE
Before i did a backup with xrecovery, byt i cant recover it, because it gives me sdcard mount error. So I had stuck on it!
I cant use flashtool to reflash my phone, because I am on linux...And need backed up data of course...
I hope, because adb shell still works, that recovery of libraries could work, could anyone good man post for me these libraries (and binaries)?
/system/bin/dalvikvm
/system/bin/dexopt
/system/bin/logcat
/system/lib/libcutils.so
/system/lib/libdl.so
/system/lib/libdvm.so
/system/lib/liblog.so
/system/lib/libm.so
/system/lib/libnativehelper.so
/system/lib/libz.so
Thank you in advance. Hope anyone help me!

Why were you trying instal JIT?
Anyway, would it be easier to repair phone with pccompanion rather thatn do this?
Its only a suggestion, I am not savvy with linux
I was trying to install JIT because of speed up my phone. Lags more than few seconds were getting me really angry. even with few apps on background and good task manager...
You`re true, it COULD be easier. But in linux it is not possible to run PC companion or SEUS...
That`s why I am looking for files. I am not a noob

I never said you were, I just thought JIT was not needed on GB roms...and I have no experience with linux.
Cant you just download thos files from a custom rom, or extract them a stock fw?
Again, apologies if this is not possible on linux, but I dont have access to those files at the moment

No need to apologize... I am discussing a lot of time with totally non experienced users (because I am linux forum administrator)
So I havent read that JIT is not needed on GB... Damn, if it is true I made a really stupid and unnessesary mistake with horrible effect...
I`ll google how it is about it, but want to recover my phone again first
Yes, I had downloaded few stock roms, but I am not able to extract files from them! Looking for some ROM dissasembler or something like that... I notice, that many windows programs (but not all - especially flash tools) works under linux properly, so looking for ANY extractor...
Maybe unyaffs will work. Doomlord had those files. Send him a pm, he is very knowledgeable about this
Also, can you not use win zip (or similar) on Linux....

Thanks a lot matthew5025 ! (thanks button pressed of course )
I have rewrited all the files, which has been changed... But without effect... This is really strange, I cant understand it...
So, I have to flash, its bad...
But my first flashing ROM I`d like to flash some of custom rom (not official) - any suggestions?
I like fast and stable system, dont need any special features and apps, animations and laggy eye candy launchers.
