[Q] How to fix "T-CDMA 64" back to "Verizon Wireless"? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I flashed to Ging-Tazz 27 and everything was perfect. However, I decided to wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik-cache one day but I wasn't planning on flashing to a new ROM. Now, on my lock-screen and Network it shows "T-CDMA 64" instead of "Verizon Wireless" and I was wondering how to change it back? I have tried rebooting it twice and calls are fine but I would like to change it back at least.
Thanks everyone for the help!

wait, you wiped your phone but didnt flash anything? hwo do you have a rom going...

I...have...no...idea... It just booted up like it normally did after a ROM flash and everything worked fine. I thought wipe was the same thing as just resetting it to the same state as a new ROM flash. Only thing different was the problem I described with the carrier's name.

hmm, wipe your phone but reflash the rom, instead of just wiping the phone, see if that helps.

[Q] WiFi suddenly stopped working

I've tried it all folks. New kernels, factory reset, different radios, different ROMs. Every-thing. The WiFi will turn on for a quick second and I will get an error message "Unable to scan for networks" and then the Wifi will just turn on and off on and off over and over again. I've even deleted the files in the data/dhcp and data/wifi folders. Rebooted, still same issue. I've deleted the files and flashed a kernel and rebooted, still same issue.
Of course I am still in contract and will have to purchase a new phone outright from Verizon if I can't get this issue resolved......
I don't know what else to do here.....
Did you try formatting data and system before installing a new rom from recovery? If that doesn't work i would say its a hardware issue. You're not restoring system data with any backup programs are you?

I've wiped pretty much everything known to man on the phone. The ROM installs are all "fresh" I haven't tried to install any APPS on the phone. Just wipe everything, factory reset / Dalvik Cache, all of it... install fresh ROM. Try to turn on Wifi, phone boot loops. No matter what ROM I install, still same issue with Wifi / boot looping.
Well guess we can close this out. I went out and paid full boat for a Samsung Nexus since I couldn't fix this issue.
I'd like to reopen this topic. I had been running Bamf Forever 1.10, but last night I decided to try another ROM because it's been running really slow for some reason.
Did a wipe (factory reset, Dalvik cache) and installed Thunderstick. Now WiFi is broken -- the exact same problem as described in the original post. I tried flashing a new kernel and new radios, and cannot get WiFi to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will flashing back to stock ROM/unrooting help?
Thanks!
@ajoesq I had the same problem when i installed thunderstick thru boot manager. My wifi stopped and I could get it going on my phone rom. So i booted back into thunderstick and wifi was working. Booted back to hte phone rom then into recovery and then i flashed my phone rom again without wiping or anything (Thunbershed V1.2) and it worked fine. wifi started agian.

Run a logcat when you try to turn wifi on. Put the output on pastebin.com and post the link. This might tell us what the problem is.
I'd make sure that the radio(s) were at least at the minimum of what the ROM called for.

[Q] Galaxy keeps rebooting after flashing ics

So I flash the Ics update (LPQ) last friday and all went well, my phone was working perfectly. However on sunday my phone kept freezing and the only was to get it working again was to pull the battery. So because of this i decided to go back to GB and wiped everything and flask a stock firmware (KI8) which is my carrier firmware. Now my phone keeps turns off every 10 minutes or so any it is really annoying. It only seems to happen when the phone is not plugged in to charge and I have tested it out and it doesn't tend to happen in flight mode either. At the moment I have wiped the phone completely and haven't even installed an app yet it is still happening. Has anyone got a clue what this could be as its driving me mad.
Thanks in advance
I have the same problem, i updated to ICS and now my phone reboots every 2 / 30mins.
I tryed lots of roms and now downgraded to a 2.3.3 stock rom, with re-partition, no SDcard .. but still ... it reboots itself a lot .
The strange thing is that it reboots when left alone, the sgs2 can stay up for 3h+ when it plays music on GoogleMusic ...
Oh, and i also tryed with a new samsung 2000mah battery kit, still no changes, so it's not a battery problem
I had this problem with GB 2.3.5 stock firmware. After flashing custom ICS - Lite'ning Rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274 , the problem disappeared. Of course I did full wipe of device before flashing.
Thanks, Ill try flash lightning later when i get home. As i think that it is something to do with the radio I have also tried flashing a new modem (KE7) but that did not solve the issue either. It there any app that can monitor processes so that i can look at what is happening just before it turns off.
I had this when I was using MIUI. I flashed Spikes Pure ICS yesterday and haven't noticed it since.
Strange, I had this issue on GB, and not on ICS. Try flashing some different roms, full wipes of course, and see if that helps

i did a factory reset by using the *2767*3855# command , then i went to the recovery to format data/system/cache/sdcard/emmc .
Still, no luck and getting reboots
Last night I flashed both lite'ning ron and Check rom. Did a full wipe before both and I am still getting reboots and freezes. Think Ill have to get a jig and bring it back to the shop
So just to update. The latest think i have tried is changing the modem to KE3 and I tried the speedmod kernel and the syriah kernel. Still having the freezing issue. Have also tried a kernel cleaner but to no avail. Anything else I should try before bringing it back. Thanks
Why dont you try to install a stock rom, then root it, and within CWM recovery wipe everything, then reinstall your stock rom thru odin
Have tried flashing the stock firmware 2.3.5 KI7 and wiped the cache, the dalvick cache and factory reset the phone before but that didnt work. Is there specific firmwares that will wipe everything?
Corrupt SD can sometimes also cause random reboots. Do you have an external SD on top of the included internal SD? Try formatting them both. Start fresh.

i agree with you i tried this method last year and it worked,, you should try this and if doesnt work format your phone system wipe data, wipe cache , wipe dalvik for a very fresh start..
Yes I thought it could have been the sd card to so I removed it from from the phone and formatted the internal memory, then wiped the dalvik cache, the cache and the phone and flashed a new rom but my phone started to freeze after about 20 minutes. Its weird originally my phone was Freeze and wouldnt wake from sleep, then it would just randomly reboot and now its back to freezing and not waking from sleep
I would try KH3 rom. For me that was the most stable GB rom

SIM cantread after Nandroid backup :(

Hi guys,
I wonder if someone can help me with this... really annoying problem!
I was checking out various roms i downloaded here, started with 4.0 aokp which was great, then gave cyanogen 4.2 a try, but then i wanted to go back to Aokp 4.0 cause it seemed to run faster
Now first thing, i couldnt get rid of cyanogen (no offense intended) cause when i wiped all data, cache and dalvik it just took aokp a few seconds to install from CWM recov, that doesnt seem right, right?
Then installed GAPPS, but still it ran on Cyanogen
So, i did a NANDROID backup, which made my phone like before i started with all this..
THIS IS WHERE IT WENT WRONG?
now it just wont read my simcard
i tried my sim in my old phone and that works fine, so the problem is in my phone somehow
is it something about the radio settings specific to my phone and network?
how can i change these settings and are they specific for my provider?
you guys always helped me out so i hope you know what i mean..

I've exactly the same problem.
Are your wifi and BT still OK ?
Is your IMEI (*#06#) still the same as under the battery ?
Was your phone locked ? Did you buy it with a SIM ?
My problem appeared after flashing several different modems/RILS : I got no error warning anywhere, but after reboot, I completely lost my netwerk connection. (no voice calls , no mobile data)
At first I thought a bad RIL driver, so I restored my Nandroid backup from the day before (after wipe cache/wipe dalvik/format system), but still no connection with the netwerk. and can't even make voice calls.
Then I was in panic !
After this I did a complete factory reset, and wiped/formatted cache/dalvik/system/data/SD-card and went in to download mode. After loading a stock ELLA for my region using Odin, still no connection. I was also never asked to enter the PIN-code for my SIM to unlock it.
Damned, this is an embarrassing situation : I can't think of loosing my SG3 for several weeks if I have to send it to Samsung !!
Mu phone is bought without SIM, so it's not SIM-locked.
My Wifi and BT are still OK, my IMEI is also still OK.
Any other ideas, please ?
How do I come in the service mode for the Radio ?
This is the way my netwerk is indicated : a circle with a stripe, much like the famous traffic sign.
Its fixed
So i have no idea how it eventually got fixed but if someone else has this problem, heres what i did:
Full wipe/factory reset blablabla all that
Did Nandroid restore again, put the AOKP ROM and GAPPS back on my phone
Installed ROM which was I9300CEDLI1
Used Odin to install latest CWM, which was already on there, but still
Then booted into CWM and installed .zip of course
This still went suspiciously fast since the very first time it took way longer, that worried me but,
Installed GAPPS again,
Rebooted... IT ASKED FOR MY PIN NUMBER!! hell yes that was what i wanted!
So now it again sees my simcard in there, so now i can make calls end use intnet again!
Still i think it started after the nandroid backup for some reason, or it may have been because of wiping Dalvik Cache?
I have no idea if that even makes sense

Good to hear your problem is fixed !
I'm still not able to make voice calls or enable mobile data : "insert SIM card" is the message I get.
I did already twice a full reset/factory restore and flash a stock ROM using PC Odin, but no avail.
Today I did a restore from my EFS folder using a backup that a had made before the problem appeared, but no avail.
BTW, did you also have the same indication from network status as on my screen-shot ?
Any idea what else I can try ?
I'm getting desperate .....
I'm having the same trouble after doing backup in TWRP when boot up it doesn't recognize the sim card.
I've flash CM10.1 and it only work after i remove the card e put it back on.
Try to see if it something about the simcard.

[Q] Wifi + Custom Rom problem

Hi!
I'm having some troubles with my DX since one week, tried a lot of manipulation and nothing is working... So I am asking you if you have any idea?
The first problem I had was the wifi that didn't "lock", it switched itself all the time from ON to OFF and opposite. The rom installed was ELEGANCIA and the recovery was TWRP. I thought it was a problem with the Rom. To try solving the problem, and because I'm curious, I installed Sense Revolution R5 and with this came my second problem...
It couldn't boot anymore, I think I did it right, not the first time I do that but we never know. And since then I'm unable to install custom Roms. The only thing that works fine is installing stock recovery, re-locking the phone and reverting back to stock using RUU, doing that the phone boots normally as when he got out of the box. But with custom Roms the phone doesn't want to boot... Where could this problem come from?
And for the wifi there is no change, it is still giving me the same bug... or sometimes I have the "activation" message without anything happening or an "error" message...
I tried disassembling the phone, as it was really dusty in it, I thought it was the problem but nope...
Thanks (sorry for my english mistakes)
Some news: unlocking, rooting and flashing custom recovery work fine.
But I tried flashing a custom kernel, and again it doesn't want to boot...
Nobody has any idea of what else I could attempt?
perhaps you aren't flashing the boot.img first?
thanks for your interest! i've just tried that once more, but nothing changes...
I have noticed though that it won't boot every time I do a system wipe. Wiping cache gives no problem, haven't tried wiping Dalvik Cache yet, and "Factory Reset" gives me a "Failed" message.
(All this using TWRP, who once worked perfectly on my phone)
EDIT: I've juste tried wiping Dalvik Cache and it doesn't give any problem... So maybe is the problem coming from the wiping of the system?
No suggestion? still having those problems... :/

i9300 sleep of death issue

I'm helping a friend with her S3 i9300. It was running very sluggishly and starting in the last couple months she's been having a sleep of death issue.
It works fine (albeit slowly) while she's using it but when it sleeps for more than 10 minutes it doesn't turn back on without a lot of trouble or a holding down the power button and hard resetting. Every once in a while it only boots if I go indirectly through download mode.
I've confirmed with the play store app that she does NOT have the "insane chip" involved in the SDS issue. I've also factory resetted, rooted, tried flashing a custom kernel, a custom TW ROM (S5 sensation) and now an AOSP ROM (resurrection remix) and the problem persists.
Looking at other users' suggestions I took it apart and cleaned/played with the power button, even replacing it with the one from my old t999. Still the same.
I'm at a loss at this point. Has anyone run into this issue and found a fix I'm missing? Thanks for the help.
Have you already tried to format system partition (sdcard 0) via recovery?
After that you MUST flash a ROM, cause there is no system installed.
So, try to do this and let me know.
Else you can try to do a MEGA/SUPER wipe.

Thanks for the reply. Before flashing any ROMs I've always made sure to do a factory reset and then individually wipe System, Data, Cache, and Davlik Cache even though I know I'm duplicating some of the wiping. Unfortunately that did not work in this case.
I'll give the MEGA/SUPER wipe a try and report back.
Thanks again.
Looks like MEGA wipe didn't do the trick either. The phone is on NA8; is there a newer baseband I can try? Not sure what else to try.
At this point I'm thinking it might just be a hardware issue.
Flash the latest stock firmware from sammobile then factory reset, remove sd card and sim then test with a different battery.
If still the same then it is a hardware fault, motherboard/cpu.
