Dell Streak Launcher from 1.6 anywhere? - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

I loved the Dell Streak Launcher from Android 1.6 ... With the 3 tabs on top in the taskbar...
Is it possible to port this somehow? I really like it and have never seen something similar again.
And no, I don't wanna go back to 1.6 !
Thx.

It's not possible that I'm aware of. Because if the launcher actually could be installed as a stand alone apk, you would still not have the multiple tabs in the notification bar, since those are built into the framework apart from a launcher.

3rd Party App Launcher??

Just curious, anyone out there using a different launcher outside of the stock launcher that the Dell Streak comes with? If so, anyone willing to post screenshots or just short blurb on it?
Example:
I Tried ADW Launcher on Donut 1.6
I tried LauncherPro on 2.1, though launcherpro was better with the capability of running Live Wallpapers and also being able to use it in Portrait mode on almost every page, the tiny little icons bugged me.

[Q] How to remove Dell custom status/notification bar?

Hi, I have a US AT&T Streak, running a rooted 2.1 (beta UK) build.
Just before I got my Streak, I saw somebody that had the same build (2.1 leaked) on a UK Streak and he was able to remove the customized Dell status/notification bar(s). Unfortunately, I can't find the person (or even the post) to ask how he did it. I can't even remember if it was here (XDA) or at MoDaCo that I read it. (or maybe just a dream lol)
If anybody has any ideas about how I might revert to the stock Android status/notification bar, or remembers the post/discussion I saw that would be awesome.
Thanks.
im going to assume you mean the dell themed skin. if you want rid of it then download either adw or launcher pro from the market bud.
You can do it if you install "ADW LAUNCHER". You can find it for free in the Market. It also allows you to view the homescreen in portrait or landscape mode.
Once you install this app, press menu button, scroll den to ADW settings, then press on screen preferences, and itself the top option.......good luck & enjoy.

Thanks, but not what I needed/meant...
Even if you install a custom launcher (ADW, Launcher Pro, etc) you still have Dell's custom status/notification bar. It's still broken up with the "Start Menu" like thing and there's no standard "window shade" notification pull down. When you click on the notification bar, you get that little custom Dell menu, not the stock "animated window shade" screen from Android devices.
Somebody on one of these forums was able to get that standard notification "shade" to work, likely using some root only hacks.
My reason for this is twofold:
In portrait mode the actual notification "bar" is very small and can only display one or two icons before they "stack" up. I'd like to see more if possible. Apps that stay resident by use of a notification icon (juice defender, missed call, etc) add to this pile-up of icons.
Secondly ADW (and others) allow a long press of home to open the notification area, which works, it opens, but a subsequent push doesn't close it as it does on normal Android notification bar activations.
So my quest continues...thanks again.

And it has happened.. Good bye Launcherproplus

Didn't think the day would be here but with ADW EX Launcher I am not looking back. Every once in a while i will load a new launcher to see what is out there and I have always gone back to LPP.... This time it is different.
ADW Ex features the following...
-faster
-less buggy - whenever loading a new app i would have to restart lpp to see it in app draw. LPP would also get stuck in a funny view when going from landscape to portrait.
-the ability to have my livewallpaper as the drawer background with options to change font color of icons.
-multiple draw options
- swipe gestures, especially to bring up hidden dock bar that holds 7 icons.
-super large icons for the main dock bar
-just runs better and I believe takes up less memory then LPP.
Found an app, which i think is a rip off of LPP, it is called Colorize widgets, and it basically has all the LPP widgets, for all other launchers. With this I have all but one function missing from LPP...
Only thing missing is scrolling main dock to add more icons, and swipe gestures on dock icons to open up other applications.
I had a separate scroll dock in LPP for important direct dial icons... Instead I loaded folder organizer and made a special label with those contacts. Then I just put the label icon in my main dock and set it to LIST view with ICON and TEXT. So now when I click on the icon i get a nice big list to click on to call my important contacts.
There are still a few bugs with ADW especially with the Streak, but they will probably be ironed out in the next few days because it effects other larger devices...
not sure what is taking Fredrico C to come out with better features or that new re-written Launcherpro.. but this is now my primary option.
Its a cat and mouse game between the two giant launchers
Same thing happened with me after discovering ADW Ex!! Installed it, loved it and it was bye bye Launcher Pro Plus!! The only thing I really miss about LPP are the LP Widgets and the scrolling dock. Colorize is nice, but I still prefer the LP widgets over it.
Scrolling main dock and gesture shortcut dock icons for the win....
I wont be going back. I have found some alternatives that work for me to compensate.

I had tried the ADW free before, and I still went back to LPP. In fact, I have tried many of the free launchers out there, and LPP is the only one I found that I wanted to pay for. I still go back to it.
I haven't tried the pay version of ADW yet. How big are the differences between ADW free and pay?
My favorite thing in LP is being able to hide things from the drawer, such as things i have on my home screens. I tried adw and didnt see anywhere to do the same.

OK, so there is a way to hide apps in the drawer. Maybe this weekend I will go thru and set it all up and give it some fair time in trial.

If you still didn't try Go Launcher, Do it!
It has most of the ADW and LPP features and then some, for free.
Love the ability to organize app drawer in folders and the built-in task killer and history.
I am skeptical about the go team. Who are they and how do they make money? Are they chinese spies stealing data from our phones?

Are there a sticky thread or any thread that give the most useful apps for the Dell Streak? Have looked but didn't find any - maybe I missed?
Or you could try VLTlauncher... it's still in beta, but that doesn't matter cuz it's free and downloadable if you search for it within XDA. VLTlauncher is a launcher based on ADWlauncher Ex optimised for the Streak.

Not for streak... for tablets.
It has been over a week on adw and I fully uninstalled launcherpro.. totally stoked.

So these launchers seem to be more for editable drawer, correct? Ive got go, pro launcher, and adw and to me they feel less snappy than zeam. Most of the themes also seem to be icon packs more than anything. None of the themes I tried really feel to be extensively customized to feel different than stock launcher theme. Any suggestions for custom themes?

[Q] overscroll effect?

hi guys, is it possible to get the overscroll effect on the streak? such as on the iphone, miui rom and even 2.3.
if youre referring to homescreens having a bouncing effect, launcherpro has it

ADW, ADW.EX also have this. Personally I hate it, and love the ability to turn it off.
I believe he is not talking about that.
There is a line the blurs on the screen depending on how you scroll that tells you you are at the end. It is cool to look at, but not sure how functional it is

any sollution with Streak Launcher ?
There must be some .plist with this setting
Can your phone handle that many? If I have more than a few widgets the phone becomes very slow. I'm on streakdroid 1.9, what are you on?
The same, StreakDroid 1.9
With 6 Stage widgets + one page of shorcuts it runs pretty smooth. So you don't recomend my idea ?
Someone try it on Gingerbread (StreakDroid 2.0) ?
oh so you're using stage launcher? I'm using launcherpro, I was told that the dell stage is slow.
I have little experience with that launcher so I can't say. However I would like to have more widgets on screen so maybe I will try stage
Launcher Pro is cool but in consideration that it's freeware.
I was using it at android HD2 but it wasn't speed demon, especially during orientation switching.
