Hi,
My X10 mini is running 2.1 update 1 (kernel 2.1.1.A.0.6)
1) I'd like to know how to create an image of my phone (as often done with a PC) before I load any custom rom. My phone is rooted and have the following: Titanium backup, Busybox, ROMmanager.
2) Which is the most reputed/reliable 2.2 rom and are there any drawbacks to it?
Thanks
You can get back to 2:1 using seus at any time you want. froyo is great so is 2.3

Hi everyone,
I still haven't gotten a response in xrecovery and flashtool threads for 4 days (Doom got his phone bricked and Crowds hasn't been online unfortunately) so I will post it here in hope that I will get a response a little bit faster:
I am *still* on 2.1. and I am planning on installing DoomLord's custom 2.3.3. stock rom with xrecovery installed and root. Then when I see how stock works I would install some real custom rom to get the best out of x10.
Now, since I can't install xrecovery on my x10 (at least I think so because it says in the thread that 2.3. android is required and I dont have it so I doubt that it will work if I manually install it?) I believe I have to use titanium backup (I've rooted my phone) to back everything up (my concern are the game data files but if I do a whole system backup those are backed up too right? at least it says so...) and then when I flash Doom's 2.3.3. stock rom I would restore everything with TB and back everything up with xrecovery, flash another custom rom and restore everything with xrecovery and use my phone normally,
Is this possible to do and is it a good idea?

I have a similar question:

I hope with a answer here, my question will be answered too
xRecovery can be installed on the 2.1 rom through the regular .3 recovery tool, from there I would create my backup

you mean I can download the 0.3GBready xrecovery rar file and install it through flashtool?
EDIT: and would it also work if I install the xrecovery that comes with flashtool? no need to download 0.3? and then restore with the xrecovery that comes with the rom?

Hi,
guys i have been reading a lot so that i could try to get a clear answers but i am still a bit confused.
I have successfully rooted my X10 min pro having stock rom 2.1 update 1 and also i have used the flash tool to install xrecovery. I am trying to install the Mini CM7 Pro v 21 and i read that i need CWM4 for it. So i wanted to know does that mean i can't install with Xrec?
Also if i have to install CWM how do i do that since i must clearly say that there is too much information that i have gone through and really it is not making too much sense.
so can anyone please give me a clearer idea on installing the CM7 on my X10 min pro.
Thank You

1-U have to find and download (latest CWM.zip)
2-Move the xxx.zip to sdcard (root directory) (don put in any folder)
3-boot into xrecovery
4-sellect install from sdcard
5-choose your xxx.zip (on step 1)
or u can try this
1-find any custom room which one can install using xrecovey BUT!!
the custom room must be dual recovery preinstall (Xrecovery and CWM)
2-Now u already hace CWM recovery now you can install what ever rom U liked
To install MiniCM7 Pro v 21, you must have the CWM and not required cwm 4.
to install cwm, see here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257701
sorry for my bad English
Don,t forget to press thanks if i can help you.

Thanks but i have already installed xrecovery through the flash tool,so you are telling me i have to install CWM to install v21? I am asking because nelikp didn't talk anything abt CWM.
I want to know since i have installed xrecovery can i still use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257701
to install CWM?
Will i do any harm if i install CWM as given in the above thread?
EDIT: I hope there is no problem installing CM7 v21 in X10 mini pro
You can install CWM with teh CWM Installer (from the Thread you posted above).
Then you can boot into CWM and install MiniCM7 pro V21. Read and follow the instructions in first post of the MiniCM7 pro thread and you will be happy about the fantastic ROM.
Hi Adi,
I've installed MiniCM7 Pro v21 with XRecovery for my X10 MP and it's works just fine. I haven't found any problem until now.
And delete these apps before install the rom if you don't need it
DSP Manager
Gmail
Google Maps
Latitude
FOTA KILL (GOOGLE OVER THE AIR UPDATES)
Pico TTS (text to speech program/interface)
Voice Dial
Voice Search
Fotakill -prevents- over the air updates. I'd keep it unless you want an incompatible update killing your system ;-)

Thanks for the confirmation but i was confident enough and installed CWM 3 r5 and it is working on my mini pro, i just need some time to install the OS. i didn't know that CM7 had gmail in it. I though we need to flash teh gapps after installing CM. i usually don't use too much apps, any way can anybody please point me on how to save app2SD guide since i have gone through many and they are making a little bit sense but still not clear. Also there is a option of partition in CWM itself can i use it?
Edit Wanted to know can i use my stock kernel to install a custom ROM,since i looked at Zombiepack kernel and it rquires unlocking bootloader which seriously i am not confident doing since i am not able to understand clearly

You can install the ROM MiniCM7 Pro v 21 and GintonicSE v2.5.1 (with modules) in the stock kernel. custom ROMs have natife app2sd and don't need second partission, I use Pro v21 MiniCM7 and existing Gmail.
Sorry for my bad English
Thanks a lot for confirming i will try first MiniCM pro then Gintonic one's i know what i am doing.
Good day everyone.
I accidentally flashed MiniCM9 on my X10 Mini.
nAa's thread in X8 forum said "MiniCM9 is built for the X8 / x10mini / x10minipro range", but in fact it only works on X8.
I was able to re-flash nAa's v11 kernel for X10 Mini back using Flashtool.
But the problem now is, how do I flash a ROM using Flashtool?
I tried to re-flash the latest MiniCM7 RAR file, but Flashtool cannot read the file.
Can anyone direct me to a ROM file for X10 Mini that Flashtool can detect?
I can't find any link(s) to X10 Mini ROMs using Flashtool.
EDIT:
BTW, do I need to flash a stock kernel instead of nAa's custom kernel?
In that case, can anyone re-direct me to the download links for X10 Mini stock kernel flashable via Flashtool?
Thanks.

just install MiniCM7 via cwm after u flash the nAa kernel.. but u must wipe data/factory reset first.. then install zip from sd card.. navigate where u put the cm7 .zip file
SOLVED!
After flashing the nAa kernel, I was able to access CWM via holding Back button after reboot.
I was able to restore a NANDROID backup of MiniCM7 (I made sure to backup before flashing to MiniCM9 )
Now everything's back in working condition.

glad to hear.. no thanks button?? haha
So I am currently using slade's Zombie kernal and GinTonic rom on my x10 mini pro.
Sorry if this has already been asked but I want to switch over to nAa's MiniCM9.
Whats the best way to do it? Do I need to revert back to stock first? Should I flash the kernal first, then the rom?
Do I need to update CWM? Currently on CWM v 3.2 (Haven't flashed nor switched rom's etc in a long time)

You don't need to revert to stock first.
You flash the kernel first, it is pre-loaded with the latest CWM.
At first boot off the new kernel, go into CWM and install MiniCM9.
that's it really
hi! I have x10 mini e10i and want to install custom rom even if its just running on 2.2 or 2.3.
My phone is 2.1-update 1, rooted, cwm installed but locked bootloader.
I can see some post that you can install custom rom on locked bootloader and stock kernel
Can someone make a "NEW" tutorial on how to install custom rom on locked bootloader on x10 mini e10i (not pro).
Thanks.

Please use SE tweaker tool to root and install CWM Recovery. SE Tweaker tool (also works on X10 mini): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462278
Then restart your phone and press the back button repeatedly to boot into CWM Recovery. Wipe data/factory reset then flash the ROM that you want.

You have to use a ROM that supports the stock kernel. So all you do is download a ROM zip and flash CWM Recovery. An example is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116 It should work on X10 Mini BTW.

I finally installed cm6 on my phone. But i still have problem. It always restarting after the sony ericsson text (not the logo) but sometimes it can open 'til the homescreen but still it will shut down automatically.
I tried pc companion but when i try to connect my phone, its just restarting all over. I thought if I would install a custom rom, it will repair the phone.
What's the difference between flashing the phone via pc companion and installing custom rom via cwm recovery?

PC companion flashes stock ROM while CWM is used for flashing custom ROMs. I suggest you to use flashtool to flash a stock ROM

Flashing the 2.1 FTF with flashtool will reset your whole phone and it should fix your problem. If it doesn't, it means that you have a hardware problem.

You can use the 2.1.1.C.0.0 ROM. It was an update for the x10 mini pro in certain areas, but it will run on the x10 mini too, since there is no hardware specific stuff in the ROM itself. You will probably lose root and cwm though when you flash it.
I've got an 'undressed' 2.1.1.A.0.6 I made for myself in zip-format which includes root and cwm, but i took out all the google stuff, so there's no market in it.
If you want to know if your phone is ok, just wipe everything and install the 2.1.1.C.0.0.
