get a voodoo kernel like overstock, dragonmodz, bali
pretty much all kernels have voodoo i think

yup. Also there are some stock kernel with just voodoo added, so you'll basically be running stock just the added effects of voodoo with no other customizations like BLN, Overclocking, etc. There should be a thread with all the kernels in the vibrant bible i think.

thanks i wasnt sure if it was that easy.

Voodoo or OCLF with Super IO kernel?

what do you guys suggest? will one work better than the other or are they both good?
Seriously? Did you even search before posting this?
There is a poll attached to an already existing thread on this subject:

Even though it doesn't specifically mention OCLF, I think it's close enough that you could have just posted there.

First of all, eugene's super io kernel DOESN'T support voodoo. You can ONLY use oclf with the super io kernel.

i think you've misunderstood his question. He wants to add voodoo to the kernel, not use a voodoo kernel.
well, i disabled voodoo and then installed the super io kernel... do i just have to nandroid back to where i was before or is there a way to uninstall/remove voodoo completely off of my system so it doesn't screw with this kernel?
You dont need it with the I/O Kernel, it runs smooth as is.
i know but i read if you flash the super IO with OCLF then it is extremely fast and no lag whatsoever...
i like linda's voice! thats why i prefer voodoo. i feel like my phone is intellectually protected and i dont have to have it over clocked. there is a file called disable voodoo that comes in a flashable form. dont have the link but google it.

MY FAV SETUP to date - waiting on updates or Cyanogen

I am only posting this so those who like to try new things can try this setup. It is not for everyone, but my phone is amazingly snappy, apps are opening pronto, and my battery/gps are perfect.
I am currently running Eugenes Ginger Clone R2:
http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=144
Notes: this does not have the shortcuts in the notification bar and also does not have swype (note the name of the ROM.... dont complain about this).
After my initial boot and getting everything all setup I flashed the JL4 stock + voodoo, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
With Eugene and supercurio combined the only way I am going to shift from this is if they themselves update, or Cyanogen comes out... stronly suggest trying this out. Be certain you are comfortable with this before trying it. You will need to disable voodoo before flashing anything else.
to disbale, go to the sdcard/voodoo folder and create a file named "disable voodoo" (without the "'s") and then reboot... it will then convert back from EXT4.
HUGE THANK YOU TO EUGENE AND SUPERCURIO - my phone might as well be the Nexus S (but with an SD Card and Gorilla Glass)!!
Anyone else running this? Do you agree that others should try it?
Not what I'm running, but lets make this a "my ideal setup until CM" sorta thread, which is how I read the subject line at least.
So far, my favorite themed setup was Frobuntu, but I had some issues with system processes chewing up CPU. So now, Blackhole. 1.1 was great, just flashing 1.2 now. Customizable - I love that. Just pick what I want in ROM Manager and it loads up. No hunting down extra files to flash or ADB push, dealing with megaupload, hotfiles, etc. I think I'm staying here until we get a CM or true AOSP build.
This setup sounds like one I've seen before if I could only remember where I saw it ohh I'm running it and it is fast but I put swype back in it I like the speed of swype the jl4 modem wasn't giving me the best connection but jl1 is pretty good but my phone is running fast as fast can be

PERIODS and COMMAS are FUN!!
j/k, did you flash the add-on Swype from the R series roms? If not, which Swype did you use? I'm going to grab an old .apk on my pc later today probably.
I used the swype.apk from the thread I cant remember which thread it was but I'm using naked swype the black back drop and white letters it looks amazing with the black froyo theme msg morph
And punctuation if for rich people lol

Bionix Fusion 1.2 w/ CoreR 1.2 GHZ + OCLF = fastest thing since lighting = average 2900 quadrant score. This setup was unfathomably fast, however, when reinstalling apps with TB i had problems, as i came from a 2.2 build.
Doesn't Ginger clone already have stock JL4? And super I/O? So I just need voodoo?

I see differences when I flash these things independently I'm not sure why but I do

i'm using Eugene's Ginger Clone R2 with JL4+voodoo kernel with JL1 modem.
I upgraded this from ttabbal's dragrom which i injected AOSPish 1.1 into, with BLN. I might change GC R2 over with ttabbal's dragon kernel and use BLN.
But right now, "stock" kernel is fine.

Been getting this (at least) for a while already with Axura + Voodoo. Maybe typical for many of the popular roms when combined with Voodoo. When the 2.2.1 based ROMs become stable on the Vibrant, combining that with Voodoo might make me want to change. Other than that, short of GB Stable becoming available I probably won't see the need to change.
ooo i was flashing a wrong VOODOO not the one you told me to, disabling the old one and gonna flash the new one and tell you results.

As of 30 mins ago I am running Nerov1 by Team Whiskey and JL4 stock + Voodoo by Supercurio, can I say I am done with flashing till stable Gingerbread ROM is available
Once again, thank you to all the devs that put their own time into cooking ROM's, kernels, etc. for the Galaxy S, Samsung should really give up Galaxy S branding to XDA devs, so far Samsung have shown zilch interest to stand up by their promises and product.

umm, i undid my LAGFIX, and downloaded the one you said to,and flashed using Clockwork now my quadrant score is like 900, am i doing it wrong?

Okay which rom should I use. Please read

Well I had my mind made up on Supercurio's KA6 Build with Voodoo and after some reading I came across this person's rom s0niqu3 (KA6+voodoo+bln+cifs), I just want a rom that is basicly the Samsung KA6 build, but speed up so my phone doesnt lag. Which one should I use?
You mean kernel, when we refer to 'roms' we're talking about the framework, theming, and applications that make up the software that sits on top the kernel.
To answer your question though, you will do just fine with one of supercurio's stock+voodoo kernels. Very reliable and the lag fix is totally worth it...will probably save you hours of fiddling/waiting for the UI over the lifetime of the phone.

the new bionix-v rom is very quick and it isn't to far off from looking stock when you get the touchwiz version.
Do these and you can't go wrong.

I still suggest Eugene's GingerClone R2. I have been using this for about 2 months and it is still the best performing ROM that I've experienced for the Vibrant.
Trigger 2.6.2
It has the kernel you want (voodoo, voodoo sound, voodoo color and almost completely stock). The ROM is stable, no known bugs that I'm aware of. Beautifully themed too.
Edit, just saw .3 was released. I would load it up, get it running how you like, and then flash s0niqu3s kernel on top of it. I do feel it's better than KA7+voodoo.

[Q] voodoo color and sound v8

Can someone create voodoo color and sound v8 for vibrant 2.2 and 2.2.1 Roms?
Voodoo sound and color are optimizations for hardware used only in kernels (not ROMs) for the Galaxy S. You can find more info here.
Most of the custom kernels here already include that and the ext4 lagfix. One of the most popular is Overstock, I think. A lot of ROMs already include such kernels, too.
I'm using Trigger ROM with Bali kernel.
He's asking about the 8th version though, we currently run the 7th on Vibrant.

Bali kernel has it.

Bali is not a kernel that I can overclock. It may have version 8 but no OC. Boring. Lol
if you buy the paid voodoo control app, you will always get the latest voodoo sound.
As for the voodoo color that the NS/CM7 has, that won't come to our phones for a long time, if ever.

[Q] Any cons to not converting voodoo?

I like the custom kernels but the voodoo conversion seems to do more harm than good sometimes, are there any cons to just not converting it?
Currently the difference is more placebo than real gain. My suggestion is to clear cache/dalvik and try out stock kernel for a few days, then try a voodoo kernel and compare them day 1/1 day 2/2 etc. I decided to stick with the stock kernel since it was working fine for me and it didn't mess up my screen with that voodoo color crap.
Are you referring to the voodoo lagfix?
No, there's no cons to not using it. I find my phone actually works better with it off.
The only con is that your phone is gonna run slower than it would if it had voodoo on it, also your gonna have a lower quadrant score, but that doesnt really mean anythinng. i dont recommend voodoo lagfix, but i do recommend voodoo sound
Aye, I've been running without the lagfix enabled for a while and I don't really regret it. Much less hassle for a flash-aholic.

I had better results with lagfix disabled on tks kernal aswell. I really dont think ext4 is any faster than rfs on gb... now on froyo roms I noticed more of a difference...couldnt tell you why.
