pick up phone and its rebooting over and over...for no reason. Pull battery, it reboots to "safe" mode? Now it boots fully and its force close city, gapps force closes, launcher force closes, everything force closes then the phone reboots. Is there an obvious fix or reason for this? Reflashed rom and kernel, wiped caches and reinstalled, and its the same thing, force close city. Any reason why this would randomly happen out of the blue? All was well before.

Did you wipe data/factory reset? If so, and you still have problems, you could try fixing permissions in CWM (advanced menu). If that still doesn't work, I recommend flashing imnuts' Odin ED01 stock package here: http://www.multiupload.com/6ET46L1ATD (it should not replace your ED04 modem) and then downloading the MIUIWiz ROM again (in case the first download was corrupted).
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
i could tell u this much my wife phone is fully stock from day one (she would never let me flash anything to her phone but always liked my phone)and her phone was doing the same thing. so i dont think its just the rom.she called vz they told her to do a factory reset, and she did.2 days know and she ok. this happen a after updating to ed04.
If you've reflashed the ROM, then you've essentially wiped /system and started new there. Sounds like something in /data is corrupt. Wipe data (yeah, not having a recent backup will suck, but you'll get by) and everything should be fine.
I odin'd back, wiped data blah blah blah and fixed it all back up, but I am curious what happened in the first place.
Phone was working flawlessly for weeks, I go to take it out of my pocket and its on the boot animation, boots to something saying safe mode with force closes galore. Pull battery and reboot, and its the same thing, force close city, and backups through recovery do not work. I am curous why that happened

Personally, every so often, I'd recommend doing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090127&highlight=ext4+formatter. It wipes EVERYTHING.
Same thing happened to me for the second time last night. On com rom 2.1/otb kernel. Phone froze up randomly, held up and power to reboot. When it came back it was.force close city. Subsequent reboots would freeze on the lock screen or reboot right as the lock screen loaded.
Recovering a backup didn't work. Wiped data and reinstalled com rom and phone is fine again.
Is my phone possessed????

Hey guys,
little frustrated here as i am having some issues. I have the ERIS running Gin tazz CM7, and when the phone is on, it runs flawlessly, but as soon as i reboot or turn the phone off, and turn it back on, i get a force close error message stating "com.android.phone" has stopped working, and pretty much makes the phone useless. I then have to wipe and re-flash the ROM and everything is fine again, until I reboot/turn phone off and boot back up.
I experimented a little last night, and put the phone in airplane mode and shut the phone off, rebooted, and turned it off of airplane mode when it was done booting, and i did not get that message. I thought i had found the cure. Rebooted again and got the same error message! I'm pulling my hair out, not sure what else to do. Has anyone heard of this issue, and if so is there a quick fix? FYI i used another ROM and it did the same thing, so i do not think it is the software. It is almost as if on the reboot it can't load the necessary "codes" to get the radios up and running again. Any feedback appreciated!
p.s i attached a screenshot to let you guys see what the error message looked like!
do you do full wipes of data and dalvik for every flash? The same issue hit me one time when I had not done wipes of both. I went back and wiped both, dalvik I just went ahead and wiped three times. Idk that three times matters but I wanted to make sure I was good to go and I know I had seen workshed post before about 3x wipe of dalvik. When I went back and wiped everything like that and re-flashed everything went back to normal for me.
The wipe of Data & Dalvik is a critical step. Like the poster above me, I've heard the "3 times" suggestion and I'm not sure why 1 versus 3 would make a difference. However, just to be safe, I have started wiping Data & Dalvik 5x each, each time I flash. It's most likely just overkill & paranoia, but hey, I've had no issues.
Some roms, depending on what are are upgrading from, may also require you to delete a folder from your sd card. For example, as Workshed states in his GSB v3.7 thread,
"If you're coming from a cm6 or 2.1 ROM, make sure you delete .android_secure folder on your sdcard before flashing."

Hope this helps!
Having similar problems. Only wiped once, I'll try it a few times and see how that goes.
I've tried the Liquid Thunderbred 2.2 and 2.3 and I can't get either if them to work. I get a constant android.phone force close. Using 627r and I do a full wipe procedure. Any ideas? I've heard good things about this rom and would like to try it out.
Did you try format system in recovery. Do after you wipe data and cache. Then load ROM.
Good luck it is nice ROM

i am having this same issue regardless of what rom I use. It fc and then it acts like it has lost the 3g signal. I am going mad here with trying to figure out what is causing it to crash when I try calling. It isnt consistent either as some numbers arent crashing. any ideas?
I had issues with mine until I did a full wipe, loaded the radio first (MR2.5) followed by installing LTBv2.3. Make sure the back is on too. I kept wondering why I only had a x1.5 connection for a couple hours, thought I had screwed up installing the radio. Eventually I popped on the backing and it was fine.
A lot of what your experiencing is either a radio issue or a full wipe issue,,, I wipe data, cache, and dalvick cache at least twice and then load whatever radio that the rom suggests and when the rom loads up give it time to normalize, dont rush it. Be careful reformatting anything in cwm it will erase data on your SD card.

I was updating Apps in the market and my phone randomly shut off without warning, went into recovery mode, did some stuff (didn't get a good look at exactly what) and reset. I have never had this happen before on any Android phone of mine and thought it was odd. I went through my phone and nothing seems to have changed.
My ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
Rooted
On a side note, a lot of my apps have been crashing lately - anyone else having troubles?

If I had issues like you do I would simply do a Nandroid backup and re-flash
the rom. (cwm recovery using wipe data/factory setting) and I would not
download or install any apps from market or any other place until enough
time had passed to assure myself that I no longer had the issues I had before.
If all is good then I would know that there is nothing wrong with my phone
or the rom I flashed and had to be some 3rd party app from the market or
some other source which I installed...
There are many apps which can cause random reboots or other issues.
I recently flashed CM10 to my skyrocket, and started getting random reboots. This started happening on every rom I tried afterwards, so I flashed back to stock ics and tried to start over. Now, even stock ics will reboot when I touch it (it will stay running if I don't touch the phone, but simple things like going to the app drawer will make it freeze and crash). It also will boot loop most of the time. I'd say 1 in 5 tries I can actually get it to boot.
Is there some way to clear it back to stock "more"? It seems that it should be recoverable, since it does actually boot up sometimes, but I've tried the normal factory resets/ formatting, and flashing back to stock to clear any leftover problems, and I don't know what else to try.
My pocket felt hot, so I pulled out my phone and saw that it kept rebooting itself. It just shows the initial Samsung splash for maybe a second or two, then loops again. I can get into Recovery and Download modes fine. I tried wiping the cache, factory reset, restoring a cwm backup. No luck so far. I've been using the CM9 rom for months. I haven't flashed or changed anything in months, I haven't even installed new apps in a while. Before this happened, it said I had no signal, so I had to restore my EFS(which I've had to do several times since I got the phone, mostly when I was switching back and forth from CM9 and stock to see which I prefer). After going into and out of airplane mode to reset the antenna, the signal and all worked fine. I let the phone cool down to make sure it wasn't just rebooting due to heat, but that didn't change anything. I've been searching here and google for anyone else with an identical issue, but I've failed so far. Everyone else seems to get to the home screen or just having random reboots during use.
Just to clarify, my question is: How can I fix my phone? Is there any other information I can give that would help?
I have the international i9300. I also tried removing the SD card and SIM card, since one thread concerning a different kind of rebooting issue reported success with that. Nope.
Try to reflash a stock rom on Odin
Is that different from restoring the original rom with CWM? I did that already. I don't have or know how to use Odin, but I'll download it and figure it out if that's the next step.
Solution?
Ok, I never didn't have to figure out Odin. I fixed it by wiping dalvik, factory resetting, restoring the stock rom, wiping it all again, rebooting into stock(it worked), then restoring back to the backup I made after the crash. Some of these steps might not be crucial, but at worst you waste a few minutes to make sure it works right again. Hopefully it'll help others with similar problems.
