[Q] Problem - Can't install xrecovery again - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi,
I have already successful installed xrecovery manually. But some days again I installed a xrecovery backup, and I had not considered that the backup-file were not okay (files size was quite small). So phone did work, but I was able to repair via Sony PC Companion - so starting position was fresh original Sony 2.1 firmware. And from then on xrecovery installation failled.
Maybe reason is new Build number ??
-> Model U20i / Firmware version 2.1 update 1, KernelVersion 2.6.29, Build-Number 2.1.1.C.0.0
I also update Titanium Backup - so new busybox may is the reason ? I tried several times to installed Xrecovery - all failled. Sometimes after a trial the phone rebooted 3 or 4 times, and then phone works correctly, but in all cases xrecovery will not run.
Has anybody an idea ?
Regards odiad

sorry , it again me - odiad
I've just considered that I used wrong Forum - I have mini pro. Thats also was the reason why I found nothing about the new build number.....
Is there a way to delete these thread ?
Regards Odiad

me to same the problem

Sorry, I'm not sure. But next time post in Q&A or general, dev thread is for devs, not questions.

I need to make my X10 mini pro like it was when i bought it, software wise for service purposes. Has anybody tried to do so ? I have Root, xRecovery, JIT, app2sd, Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24[rooted](from this forum) and Android 2.3 Ginger Bread Theme Nexus S edition theme. If anybody found a guide or could give me step by step pointers I would be very appreciative. THX in advance.
You might need to swap your build.prop for a Romanian one? (possibly ask on here and someone might be able to give you a copy if you didn't back up yours before you flashed the rooted firmware) or edit yours with the right details then..
Backup your settings, contacts, txt's etc with Backup and Restore. and Flash the phone using SEUS (Sony Ericsson update service) (if it says you are already up to date then use the recovery option) you can download SEUS from here if you don't have it.
hope that helps.

Yeap, just do what kiwiBratwurst said... You may want to format your sdcard too to get rid of the ext4 partition...
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
So all I have to do is update/recover using SEUS and that's it ! No traces of JIT or custom prerooted Generic ROM will be left ? About build.prop, why do I have to modify it and how will I know what to modify ? Sorry about all these questions but i'm a newb and my touchscreen is making a buzzing noise whenever I touch it so you understand my concern and why I want to ship it into service. Can't figure out if the problem is hardware or software related, this started happening after .504 SEUS update.
Well you could forget the Build.prop edit and just restore/repair/update (whatever its called) with SEUS (but then your phone will say its from Norway, I think you will have the Norwegian Firmware if you flashed the rooted .24 firmware from here) (you could just try that tho and pretend you didn't know any better)
if you want to try to edit your build.prop (backup the old one first in case you stuff it up!!) I am not sure about the Pro (I have a mini) but pull your battery out and look under it, there should be a sticker with info about your phone.. it has on there an 8 digit number 1234-1234 obviously not that but something with 8 numbers.. this is your kit number, if you are able to modify your build.prop and change the kit number in it to your number then it may work.. (I think from memory the number appears 3 times in the build.prop file. )
There is also a place where it says WORLD Generic or Custom.. I don't know what this should be on Romanian Build.prop.. (it's too late now but.. its always a good idea to backup your system files before playing with flashing that way you have all the original files if you need to revert)
just another thought... if you have updated the phone in the past with SEUS (with the correct firmware) 1.6 or 2.1 whatever.. you could look in the SEUS folder on your computer (program files/sony ericsson/Update service/db) and copy the 2 largest files out of there and use the Converter tool.. Here and you can make your own Original Romanian Firmware to flash with Bin4rys flashtool. (you might need to flick through the post to find x10mini/pro relevant file names.. etc... ) But handy to have because then any time you need to revert back to factory you can just flash the Romanian firmware with Flashtool
Man.. sorry to prattle on.. hope it helps in some way.

I believe the new SEUS doesn´t have repair option anymore.

[Q] stuck on ROM 504 after downgrade.

Hi all
i have a X10 mini E10i which i bought just before chrismas.
i updated it to the latest version .24 which at the time was unrootable which made me want to downgrade and had many many problems doing that.
then after many tries some how i got the 504 flashed and working.
now my problem is the following.
1- i cant get xrecovery to work no matter what i do. and believe me i tried everything.
2- i cant get it to update to .24 again, i tried SEUS but it says i have the latest version installed. i tried to look for the build.prop file but it does not exist, i have instead a file named default-capability. which doesnt have the same values everybody here is talking about.
i need help and many thanks in advance.
I'm having the same problem!
I did the SEUS repair this morning and I'm stuck too!
non-signed apps aren't working for me.

Thats cos youre reading the memory stick, or the /etc directory.
Get your phone rooted as it is, download root explorer, then launch it.
Go to system directory, copy it over to your memory stick, then upload it here.
Also, are you using Mini, or Mini Pro?
Yes, i want back to orignal firmware so I downgrade to 0.A.504, then i use SEUS but it say i used lastest version. How to update my phone to 0.A.24 now? Replace file build.prop, maybe?

[TUTORIAL]Up/Downgrading, ReFlash/ing, Rooting/xRecovery[For Noobs ONLY]

Hi guys. yeah hi to you guys.
this thread are probably only for newbies, and when you're reading at this post,
YES , you're noobs. (i once was)
what purpose im posting this thread?
since there's been couples of, i mean tons of new x10 mini/pro that with no ability to solve their problem with:
bricked devices, downgrade, upgrade, rooting, xrecovery.
not all member can help you guys everytime when kill your device or asking for tutorial how-to thing with posting new thread.
so i decided this post gonna help you solved most of your problem.
ABOUT SECTION
Before wee get started, lt me explain little more details ABOUT:
1. Rooting
2. xRecovery
3. Flashing, Downgrading and Upgrading
4. Troubleshooting
1. Rooting
Code:
What is Rooting? and what are the benefits Rooting my device?
Let me tell you why.
What Is Rooting?
First of all, for the newbies, let me define what rooting is. Getting root or
rooting your phone is the process of modifying the operating system on your
device which will grant you complete control over it.
This means you can overcome limitations that the carriers and manufacturers
put on your phone, extend system functionality, and even upgrade it to a custom flavor of Android.
The name root equally known as Administrator on Windows is called root.
Benefits Of Rooting
Full Control Over Android
1. Back Up The System
2. Save Space On Your Phone
3. Move cache data to SD card
4. Move installed applications to SD card
5. Install Custom ROMs & Themes
6. Run Special Applications:
some of application that needed rooting access
# Super User – allows you to approve or deny root access to any application
# Auto Memory Manager – kills tasks you wouldn’t be able to otherwise
# Move Cache for Root – move cache for browser, market, maps, street view,
and gmail onto SD card
# Startup Manager – Clean up android system from system startup to boost
system power and memory from the get go
# SetCPU for Root Users – Overclocking your rooted device lets you speed up
your phone’s processor when you are using it and lets you slow it down when it
goes into "sleep" mode. It can either be a battery hog or battery saver.
# Root Explorer - working as file manager, where you can manage file not only
on sd card, but also in system files.
# Rom Manager - which allows you to easily flash a custom recovery image
which is what you will need in order to backup and restore your phone.
2.xRecovery
Code:
What is xRecovery? and the benefits of xRecovery?
What is xRecovery?
xRecovery is a custom recovery console proudly made by Zdzihu for Sony
Ericsson Xperia X10, Mini and Mini Pro devices based on the source code of
Cyanogen’s recovery
Benefits Of xRecovery
It lets you easily perform:
1. Manage and Restore Backups.
(good options before flashing or installing custom incase of bricking your device, you can always use xRecovery to restore backuped files)
2. Reboot.
(allow you to reboot)
3. Installing and flashing ROMs, Themes and Applications From Zip Files.
4. Wipe Your Phone, Factory Reset, Wiping Cache, Data, Dalvik Cache and
Battery Stats.
5. Mounting, Unmounting System Files.
(allowed you to to modified files and folder inside system files)
6. Formatting Partitions.
7. Fixing Permissions.
(allowed you to modify, set the right permission for certain files)
3. Flashing, Downgrading & Upgrading
Code:
What is Flashing, Downgrading & Upgrading??? are you retarded?:D
I don't think i have to explain these more details cause eventhough you're noob.
anyway i'll just explain it in simple way.
0. Flashing are the universal word for Downgrading and Upgrading and installing.
(thats the way im using the word for flashing.)
(eg: im going to flash the old firmware/ the latest firmware/the awesome
Sony Blues Theme/ the Froyo ROM.)
1. Downgrading is the proccess where you're reverting your android baseband
and
firmware to the old version.
2. Upgrading is the proccess where you're going to update your baseband and
firmware to the latest version.
3. Both of the proccess above can be perform with Flashtool and Sony Ericsson
Update Service(you can't downgrade using SEUS)
Nujhum Sensei, i got couples of question.
1. What is Flash Tool?
-FlashTool now is something like an all in one Tool for your phone.
It can:
- Flash original Images (Android 1.6 & Android 2.1 Images)
- Root your phone (Only if the phone is on a 2.1 android version)
- Install xRecovery, Busybox
- Clean your Rom (remove /system/apps apps of your choice)
- Clear dalvik cache
- Optimize (install of JIT v2)
- Customize (installs apps found in the custom/apps folder of the flashtool)
- Clean uninstalled (remove any references to system apps removed in the Clean (root needed) step)
- Edit /system/build.prop
2. What is Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) ?
-Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS)
It can:
-Update your phone for optimal performance and get the latest enhancements.
-Regardless if you have the latest software, it is a good routine to run Update
Service to improve software stability.
-Also, if you experience problems with your phone this may be solved by a software update.
4. Troubleshooting
i. Bricked Device
ii. Waranty Void
Code:
i. bricked devices
- normally a bricked device happened on the proccess of installing/flasing
custom ROMs and Themes, Down/Upgrading using flashtool and etc.(i only
experienced all those i've stated).
- most problem you'll encountered whith bricked device are, endless loop
reboot, loop reboot and can't load xRecovery and else. :D
- and when it happen.
- "MOM, i killed my phone that daddy bought for me last week. he's going to kill
me". DONT WORRY, THERE'S ALWAYS HAVE SOLUTION TO EVERY PROBLEMS.
- You can always flash your device using Sony Ericsson Update Service (SUES).
which i've include where to download and how to use it in the 3rd step of
Flashing/Down/Upgrading Tutorial.
ii. waranty void
- the most critical part, at least the most of you guys will think after rooting,
xrecovery, installing custom room now your waraty are void.
- why? because Sony wont like it when we messing up with their device.
- don't worry you can get it back by flashing it using, yes, again using SEUS.
Done with the details.
First of all, the link im gonna post are not mine.
you can thank me (i don't mind if you didn't), but thank the original creator.
ROOTING YOUR ANDROID
Code:
This is the starting point of getting your warranty void.

i will think about that later, either to post it or no.
it should be no problem if they read the instructions, and the requirement, and the right base band/firmware for installing themes and custom roms.
well, lets see, if more request to come.
if wouldn't hurt, but
im not sure if it goes well with the dev that own the rom or theme.

dont have to change permission.
reboot your device, right after the white sony ericsson appear, hit multiple time the back button.
Well this is perfect, but the only problem that I see is Root Explorer app is not anymore free, so it is better to update post with alternative apps!
Thanks

[Q] New Puzzle for those who want a challenge (or maybe it's quite easy)

Alright, so I've been working on this issue for about 3 days now. Everytime I think I make headway, nothing seems to come about. I, for all intents and purposes, am completely stuck and need help.
Here are my phone stats
Android 2.3.3, Generic Stock, Unrooted, Locked Bootloader
Sony Ericsson X10i
Baseband 2.1.71
Build Number 3.0.1.G.0.75
Kernel Version [email protected] #1
For my experience, I'm fairly capable around solving problems. I've rooted my phone before, and was running TripNRaver's MIUI for my X10. Worked decent, however I was wanting to upgrade it to a new ROM. Decided to go with A1exander's MIUI. I downloaded all the needed items, unlocked my bootloader without a problem, flashed the ROM via XRecovery, and (like an idiot) put the sim card in backwards. Didn't realize this until AFTER I had tried to change the baseband down to 2.1.54. When it simply froze on the SE screen, I tried to revert it back to 2.1.71. Obviously, this didn't work either, so I reverted it back to Stock 2.1, From there I tried to root it like I did before, however it would not root. I then upgraded it to 2.3.3 to follow the instructions on the new rooting methods. Everything I tried to do, from Flashtool, to SuperOneClick, would not let it root. No SuperUser program was installed. After trying this multiple times, following the instructions to the letter, and watching the videos many times, there was no rooting of this phone by those methods.
Here is the error message I get from Flash Tool
06/032/2011 22:32:20 - ERROR - Cannot identify your device. Found while expecting X10, E10, U20 or E15 (read from ro.product.model from build.prop)
From there, I select "X10" and this shows
06/032/2011 22:32:22 - INFO - Connected device : X10
06/032/2011 22:32:22 - INFO - Installed version of busybox :
Now, even if I install Busybox from the Market, it still shows the same message. So, I go into ADB, pull the build.prop and see what's going on there, this is what it shows.
ro.product.model=X10i
ro.product.model=rachael#
ro.product.brand=Sony-Ericsson#
ro.product.name=rachael#
ro.product.device=rachael
ro.product.board=es209ra
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=Sony Ericsson
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=GB
So, I edit the build.prop to reflect X10, however I can't push it back to the system folder, as it tells me it is a read-only folder. Trying to remount in ADB says operation not permitted.
So, that's where I'm at, A stock X10, running 2.3.3, non-rooted, non-unlocked bootloader. I have SuperOneClick, Flash Tool, ADB, SDK Manager, PC Companion.
Please help me figure out what I need to do to get this rooted, and start running A1exander's MIUI. Thanks!
My first suggestion.
Borrow someone elses sim card to see if its that (It probably isnt but good to make sure)
Second.
Have you got the latest flashtool?
Well, I'm certain the SIM card is good. Right now, running on Stock 2.3.3, it runs as good as a stock ROM could be, no issues there. I'll try my wife's SIM and see if that could be it.
[UPDATE] It's not the SIM card, just tried my wife's and the same thing happens.
Second, my Flashtool is 0.2.9.1
Java Ver. 1.6.0_24
OS ver. 6.1
You probably need to reflash an older 2.1 with an older basband and kernel... then start from there by rooting it and installing xrecovery 3...
Its been a while but I recall that 2.3.3 stock was not easily root-able
there was some kind of trick where you use flashtool and install the kernel and/or baseband, then without rebooting, you pull out the batttery to flash a pre-rooted ROM with Xrecovery.
So go back to 2.1 with an appropriately older kernel (.49??? I think) and baseband.
Edit1
Did you try other, newer pre-rooted 2.3 roms like EWJet? I'm using the full hulk version with unlocked bootloader and it's been awesome smooth running at 1.13Ghz. Just make sure you follow the install guide step by step and flash both FTF files with flashtool in step 1.1.
If you don't like EWJet, install MIUI afterwards will be easy too.
I'll definitely give this a shot! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll let you know how it turns out.
[EDIT 1] One question, I don't have XRecovery, and I can't install XRecovery that I know of without rooting the phone, which I can't do. How can I install a new ROM if I can't install it with XRecovery.

go here and find a 2.1 generic to start off of, I think the files come with a flashtool or you may need to use the new flashtool since you are on 2.3
EDIT1
I looked throught the list on the page linked above, the 2.1 generics are in the second section "all branded kits for X10i). Maybe use file number 8 since I recall Orange UK X10 kits had strange behavior with foreign sims....
Man! I can't thank you enough! I'm back in business now, got the phone rooted, XRecovery installed, and I'm free and clear to getting back to where I want! Looks like my stock 2.1 that I tried to root before wouldn't root through SuperOneClick.
Man, so much easier this time, I appreciate the help and suggestions! Thanks again!

XPeria X10 Mini Pro Problem(s)

I am a... fairly new user with XPeria X10 Mini Pro, I got it for a birthday present in the end of October 2011 and I have been in love with it. This was my first smartphone too.
I installed Superuser in order to remove those already installed apps that didnt want to be removed..
But ever since, my XPeria has been having its troubles..
It crashes when I open up text messages.
Biggest problem >> It wont charge unless in a certain position or not at all.
The music player doesnt work.
It restarts randomly.
Almost every app crashes. (force this program to stop-crashes)
Calls get cancelled sometimes (not that often).
So I dont know what to do, the guarantee is gone because duh.. Superuser is installed.
I dont know what info I should give you on the phone really so I went into the "About the Phone" thing in Settings and heres what I found:
Model - U20i
Fabric Program Version (?) - 2.1-update1
Kernel-version - 2.6.29 [email protected] #1

I directly translated that from Swedish and I'm 15 years old so don't expect it to be perfect.
Surely you removed something important
You can try to restore your phone using PC Companion (a Sony app) or install a custom ROM (highly recommended).

Do you recommend any custom ROM? And how do you install it? There seems to be alot to choose from O_O
Well... I'm user of MiniCM and of course I recommend it, but you should search for a cROM that use stock kernel.
Why? Because if your phone is very new, surely the bootloader can't be unlocked, and also because is more easy install the cROM on stock kernel.
Choose a cROM (read the bug list, if any) and follow the instructions that are in the cROM post, is all.
stock kernel = sony's kernel (you already have installed it)
