As we all know stock SGS2 internet browser is the fastest and smoothest one, but it has few irritating flaws like no full screen and ****ty interface.
My question is how to make it goes fullscreen and desktop view always (not mobile). I know there was a hack for SGS1 browser so I'm guessing its also possible here!

I like being able to look at my taskbar when browsing. Anyway to turn off fullscreen browsing?
With you on that one there! Love the fact you get maximum webpage space but just a little bar at the top would be nice, also would enable you to check and respond to notifications without closing the page.
I would like to know if there is a way too ...
anyone figure out a way?
I don't think there is a way to do it with the built in browser which is a bit rubbish really.
An alternative would be to get another browser such as Steel off of the Market but it doesn't feel polished enough to replace the default one to me. Hopefully Opera Mobile is nice when that arrives

What dont you like about the built in one that Opera does better?
I want to see the notification bar as well. I would love to see what's going on on my device while I'm browsing. Now I am forced to close the browser first.
I just tried Steel, but I really miss the multitouch zoom. I'm afraid I'll have to stick with the built-in browser.
I want this too! If only to see my reception / H / E /wifi logo etc just to know how I am connected! Oh and the time
Could someone post an apk with Android's default browser? Maybe if we ask in another sub-forum?
hi all, i'm a noobie android user (coming from 3GS) .. I noticed a little lag with the browser.. but it was only with a certain website...
if you load cracked.com in the browser, and then go back to homescreen or any other app.. and then go back to your browser, theres like a 2-3 second lag.... anyone have any issues with that too? It's not a big deal.. but it could get annoying later on down the road.
change the flash to on-demand
you might *think* theres less / no lag on the iphone because theres no flash available at all
i use MIREN browser from the market and it has been pretty awesome
thanks, that browser is pretty slick.
I don't know where that option you mentioned for "Flash on demand" is..... is it under settings in browser or on homescreen?
if you using Miren browser it should be under advanced setting
I guess It's all in the title : After 10 days of using the browser I can clearly say that I don't like it (checkered effect, pixelated zoom, cant double tap to zoom, text doesn't reflow...), and even though I tried other browsers (Opera, FF, Dolphin...) my favorite is still the stock browser from Gingerbread or the slightly modified one from Cyanogenmod.
Is there any way I can replace the samsung one with one of those ?
Thanx.
You can double tap to zoom, which also simultaneously reflows the text. But yeah about everything else you're right...the checkerboard effect is annoying :/ As of yet, there's no way to replace the Samsung browser with either the CM one or the standard Gingerbread one, sorry to disappoint...
Double tapping never really worked for me : it zooms but only by like 5% so it's pretty useless. Is there a setting somewhere ?
Thanx for the answer anyway
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
are you tripping the browser is incredible..
Nothing else is as smooth, i regret buying dolphin HD.
The samsung browser smashes everythign I compare it too including the iphone 4 so I'm not sure how you can be unhappy.

The stock browser is really good and definitely out does othe rbrowsers I've used. I find dolphin to be a bit troublesome and it is aesthetically unpleasent also.
I've found the browser to be fantastic. It's the only Android phone to have smooth scrolling like the iPhone. Why has it taken so long? :/
if you switch to a different browser it wont be as smooth because it wont be hardware accelerated. the samsung stock is optimized with the GPU it seems.
that said, i played with the Infuse and it too seems hardware accelerated, showed the checkered background, yet it reflowed text just like its supposed to. double tap reflowed text. and pinch to zoom reflowed text.
why would samsung implement on one device but not the other?

Maybe it's a bug on SGS2 that'll get fixed by a firmware update. Samsung needs to be aware of this bug though.

+1
although i do have opera 11 aswell as it has slightly easier navigation.. for quicker browsing
I would trade the smoothness of stock browser for AOSP browser in a heartbeat.
Smoothness: stock (100%) AOSP (90%)
Full screen : stock (0%) AOSP (100%)
text reflow : stock (10%) AOSP (100%)
text selection: stock (100%) AOSP (90%)
window switch: stock (50%) AOSP (100%)
The window switching ui is just fancy but not practical at all. It require so many swipes and clicks to select/close windows.

Wow I didn't realize samsungs custom browser was not likes this much. Is it really that bad? Makes me enjoy my stock browser much more.
browsing the net kills the battery really fast thanks to the amoled, i know cyanogen has an inverted browser (ie white text on black) but is there a way to invert the stock browser without cyanogen ?
i found this http://ariya.blogspot.com/2010/10/color-inversion-for-web-pages.html
looks interesting, but i don't know how to use it to make the browser invert :\, however considering this is the same / similar patch from cyanogen it should be possible
I have been experimenting with a way to get the web browser to use a black background using a web filtering proxy. You can check out my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17960461. It works very well on my Galaxy S II, but at the moment, the process is somewhat cumbersome. If you're adventurous, you can give it a try. If not, hopefully some folks will take my solution and package it into something neat and tidy.

I really miss the browser from my Evo. Pinch-to-zoom was extremely smart; it would re-flow the contents to fit the zoomed region onto the screen; no scrolling left-to-right to read in 99% of the pages I read. The "dumb" zoom on the Epic Touch is really frustrating.
Is it possible to get that browser on my phone?
