So i downloaded APPS2SD from the market... and i transfered aquapets and plants vs zombies onto my sd card... cuz my titanium backup wasnt working for some reason. So i thought that if i flashed a new rom....since the apps are on my sd card they would reappear on the new rom... but they didnt... how do i get the apps back? i opened apps2sd to see if they were on the sd card... and they dont show up on the sd card.. HELP!!!
originally, before froyo, apps2sd required an ext2 3 or 4 partition on your SD card to be used so that when you flashed a new rom, without formatting the previously mentioned ext partition, your apps would reappear on boot. with the addition of apps2sd in froyo things work differently so when flashing a new rom, you need to redo your apps.
titanium backup is your best friend in this scenario.

hi all,
i am running the modaco 2.3 rom very well which has the aps2sd built in.
i have partitioned my sd card correctly and know that all is working ok (when i pull out the sd card the programs don't work)
SO why is it when i install new programs the phone's internal memory still drops??? i thought maybe cache files but i use the TA utility to move cache to sd.
any ideas??
thanks!!
Hi there.
I´ve searched this forum, but I didn't find a reasonable answer, which I fully understood.
I flashed Megatron a couple of weeks ago, with some enhancements, I did the regular survey, everythings working fine, except of A2SD or the SD card partition.
I've got low memory message all the time, and only when a few programs installed and most of them moved to sd card(if possible), I can't install more... It's really anoying.
Is the partition really working? And how can I find out?
Do you guys have any idea what could be my problem and how to fix that?
Thank you
instal void echo rom , its way better than megatron and no probs
You mean you recently installed it and all of a sudden you get a memory low error? Maybe the a2sd scripts failed to move /data/app to the sdcard. Just a hunch.
I mean maybe the a2sd card didnt function from the beginning... But I mentioned it after I installed applications.
And what happen with the a2sd when I unmount an SD card, or when I boot with a SD card mount problem(It happedn, I had to put it out and back on)?
Can I partiton that again without flashing a new rom? I tried that, using custom recovery, so I made a backup, then I wiped the ext memory, made a partition of: swap 0, ext 1024 and then I upgraded to ex3 and ext4... But when I booted up, there is the same internal memory, but less space on SD card.. So the partition is there, but mind not mounted....
I have so many apps installed on my SD card using the builtin Gingerbread apps2sd that when I start my phone or switch from USB disk drive mode I can't access my SD card apps for about a minute or so while Android checks the SD card (or so I'm assuming).
Will switching to an Ext partition on my SD card make startup faster? It drives me nuts that when my phone reboots (which it tends to do when it overheats) it starts up pretty quick but I can only access the apps on the phone for the first minute or so.
Btw, I'm running CM7.1 nightly 213 for the Evo. Thanks!
Bump ... anyone have any experience?
To answer my own question, a resounding YES
I partitioned my SD card with Paragon Partition Manager using resize so I didn't lose data and formatted the new partition ext4. I used S2E which made the process super simple, although I had to move all of my SD card apps back to "internal phone memory" (now pointing to the sd-ext partition), but Titanium Backup made that batch job easy. Starting up apps are accessible MUCH quicker and I don't have to worry about widgets and keyboards being screwed up due to being on SD. DO IT!
I bought a 4GB sd card and made a 512MB partition so I could link my apps on it using Link2SD app. It was all nice until my Huawei U8110 had an error on dialer so I had to do Factory reset and decided if I would do it why shouldn't I install new ROM. I installed Pro Celestial v2. It was all nice, I used Titanium backup to backup my apps and restore it later, but when I installed new ROM all the apps were there, but not linked. If I would backup them using TB then the link would work, but then they would take twice the space on that 512MB partition. So I decided to format that partition and start linking apps on it from the start.
I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard to format that partition. Both of my partitions were FAT32. But, when I rebooted my phone, there were no signs of partition, even later on PC. Just the 3,5GB partition was there, even TB didn't detect that there is another partition. It seems like that partition is gone, and I can't bring it back. I can't format my sd card because that option in settings->sd card menu is unclickable. Can anyone help me bring my all 4gb from sd card back?
Have you tried formatting your SD card via PC?

Sorry for me being so STUPID! And THANKS for the answer! It worked, I just can't belive I didn't try it as first solution of a problem Tjanks once again, now I can enjoy the whole space on my sd card
Recently (a few hours ago) I bought a new SD memory card to upgrade. Since I used Adfad's N2 Cyanogen mod, I partitioned my old SD card (2GB), and created 512MB ext3 partition to expand my phones storage. Also I use s2e for App2sd. I backed everything up in clockwork recovery (5.0.2.0), i turned the phone down, took out old card, and inserted a new one (8GB). Booted into recovery and partitioned SD card, but this time I created an 1GB ext3 partition. Turned the phone off, copied data from old card to new one, on laptop, via card reader. Returned it to phone, booted into recovery, restored backups, successfully, and booted the phone. Phone now recognizes new card, but can't mount sd-ext partition. I can't access to most of my apps, I presume that those are the ones which were on sd-ext partition, like market, superuser and many others. Installed the s2e, but it doesn't recognize sd-ext partition. Is there any way to fix this? I'm clueless . I tried the old card, everything works. Any type of help will be appreciated. Is there any way to transfer data from one card to another via PC? Including ext3 and linux-swap partitons?
Since there were no answer, I did a clean reinstall and backup with titanium. It looks like there is on easier way to switch SD cards.
