Ok..I hate to sound like a newbie, but I am when it comes to the GB stuff. So I was coming from Bi-Winning ver. 3 and followed the OP for Simply Honey 3.8. But in the first part of ODIN, the screen went completely LIGHT PINK and stayed there for about 30 minutes. So, I had to redo, but now ODIN and Windows 7 32-bit doesn't recognize my phone. I can bring the phone into DOWNLOAD MODE, but it will get stuck on the Phone>>!>PC screen if I try to boot normal. NOW IT DOESN'T EVEN SHOW A SCREEN WITH NO LIGHTS!!! Can anyone please help??????!!!!!!!!
when i messed up a flash and my computer didnt recognize my phone i changed ports and restarted my computer and it worked. worth a shot

I flashed Trigger onto my Vibrant, all seemed well. ROM Manager was FCing, so I reinstalled from market, installed recovery from within ROM Manager, rebooted, went into the regular android recovery. Rebooted again, now it doesn't want to boot. Just loops at the Samsung Galaxy logo (after the vibrant, the little "movie" that plays after the Vibrant logo)
Stubborn bastard won't go into download mode, COM9 shows up in Odin, but it keeps looping the intro thing. If I try to flash, Odin just says SetupConnection and stays there.
Will a JIG do anything at this point?
I will admit, I got too eager and may have flashed a gingerbread ROM on top of a froyo bootloader. >.> I admit, that was stupid, but now all I want is to get the damn thing back into download mode...
It's not bricked. Probably just in a boot loop. Just need to play around and get into download mode.

that doesnt make a difference, i've been on simply honey like 2 month on froyo bootloaders and works fine apart from rainbow on boot and not being able to see recovery

That happened to me before, I used and tried a different cable and got into download mode with functioning odin. Also, try removing battery, then put the battery back in. then with pressing volume up and down with power switch plug in usb. Hope this helps. Vibrant is hard to brick.

It is not dead yet, follow the steps as follow thread to go back in beginning and flash rom you want again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Depending on which version of ODIN you are using the sequence works best like this:
1) Get the phone into a download acceptable mode with use of a usb cable (JIG is most appropriate)
2) Have ODIN running BEFORE connecting the phone
3) Now connect your phone and attempt the flash. Version prior to 1.7 were extremely picky with following this sequence. As of 1.7 POST ODIN seems to not bug so much the sequence of when the phone was plugged in.
Report back with your results...

1) take your battery out
2) plug your phone a laptop/desktop
3) hold volume up and volume down + put the battery in
...should be in download mode...I am assuming u have a froyo bootloader...
If that don't work then on step three instead of holding both volume buttons only hold volume up..that works for GB bootloader...
ReEDIT: FIXED! I used one of the usb slots on the back of my PC and it worked fine
EDIT: Ok so i restarted my PC and odin is now detecting it again. But now it just gets to the factory step which is about 10% and then says failed writing. So i still have a problem :/
Ok so i was following instructions i was given in my earlier post on how to take my vibrant from miui to stock and im sure i followed everything exacty but when it as in odin it got up to factoryfj.gj or however it goes and it froze up there and my phone went to a gray screen and all the UI lights were off after about 30 mins i unplugged and removed battery. i can no longer boot the phone normaly. only way i can boot now is in download mode. and when i try that and put it into odin its not being detected anymore (( i just got git this phone a month ago. man someone please tell me this is fixable
I'm pretty sure i have attempted every solution on here (XDA) and elsewhere to troubleshoot my problem. I am hoping it is obvious, but i've put hours into this and i could really use some help!
My tablet is (or was) a Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy 10.1
I had successfully rooted it when i first got it using Odin...i flashed a ROM...can;t remember which one (obviously a wrong one) and ever since it has been rather temperamental.
Over the course of the past week i have been to APX and back... Heimdall (which i am pretty sure i am not doing correctly) to attempting to flash firmware..stock roms etc...
I don;t know whether it is a driver issue, or if i need a stock rom or to flash firmware....but here is where i am at now.
If i try to power up normally...the Samsung galaxy tab logo bootlader flashes for a sec or two...the screen then either goes black...and repeats a few times...or sometimes it flashes the logo and the backlight stays on until i turn it off.
(Seems to be a fairly common problem)
If i hold the volume up and power together...i can get to the Odin download screen with the flashing droid and the midget droid that appears to be walking away from a trash can.
HOWEVER, when i plug the tab into my laptop (windows 7 x64) (i also have access to a (windows 7 x86) and my girlfriends xp machine. I've tried on all mostly on my x64 machine.
Heres the thing.
When i power down...sometimes just pressing the power button once or twice...sometimes, while off i hold the volume down button for a few sec..and all of a sudden the comp reads the device and i can get open ODIN...get the yellow COM thing...but never seem i always get the same error message...can not open/find com/port...
so i can get into odin on my comp with a black screen on my device...or i can get to download mode on my device and my machine wont recognize it.
I seem to have inherited a little bit of everyones problems on here...
Please tell me that there is hope for my tablet...please help? I'm sure you can imagine my frustration. TY.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think i did try this at one point...the problem still stands...when i am in odin dl mode on my tab...the com tab wont turn yellow and comp wont read my device.
If i do it the other way....with a black screen...it wont be able to communicate or find the port. ...but ill try again right now.
Nope....epic fail. There has to be a solution, right?
As long as you can get into download mode you should be able to fix it. Most likely the issue is not your tab but the drivers on your computer.
I spent the better part of a day frustrated trying to go from the leaked 3.2 to official 3.2 having issues similar to you with Odin. Funny thing is for me the PC somehow ended up not recognizing the tab on the USB port I used to flash on but would on others so I simply swapped Ports and continued. Little did I realize that although things seemed okay that issue was a symptom and Odin was now flashing corrupted info onto the tablet.
A simple reboot of the PC fixed things for me. That you have tried other machines though is worrisome. Still there's a chance it still is a driver issue so I would check drivers on the PC and perhaps install kies if you don't have it to see if the drivers with kies help.
Since you're on the Verizon tab flash back to stock 3.1 and flash stock recovery. Then let all the OTA updates run. After that all you need to do is flash cwm and Pershoots kernel along with superuser to be rooted. There is no better ROM for our Verizon tab than this and all wifi ROMs are incompatible with it.
Still, no luck. When i am in download mode on my tab....my computer doesn't recognize it. When I just power up and and plus it in, the screen goes black but the computer sees the device as well as ODIN. However sometimes it is recognized as APX and sometimes it is recognized as a Samsung android device... usually with one or two driver errors.
So, it seems obvious that it would be a driver issue... i've tries kies, and as many variations of drivers i can find.,.. when in APX mode i try to flash using the nvflash method in cmd or heimdall, otherwise i try ODIN and it seems to be successful until the "setup connection" point.
Is there a way (if it is even something i should do ) to get drivers on my device in its current state?
Im at a loss...i know this thing can be resurrected...everything just seems so backwards. Any thoughts?
I know that this is a very basic question, but do you have USB Debugging enabled?
George
No way to check now, as he says the tablet doesn't boot any more.
It sounds like a driver issue for sure, and to be clear here the ONLY requirement that I know of when flashing with odin on the TABLET end is for it to be in download mode waiting for usb BEFORE being plugged in. So when I say driver issue Im talking about on the PC side here. Have kies installed just to get the drivers, fire up odin and get the tab into download mode while unplugged. Plug it in and watch odin to see if the com port status lights up. If not swap usb port and repeat. Do not use a hub and ypu may want to remove unnecessary usb devices too just to see.
Hey everybody. I bought a fascinate from CL, which was soft-bricked, thinking I could fix it. Guy told me it froze updating to 2.3. It had been stock the whole time. Phone would not boot at all, no display, only four bottom buttons would light up on touch. No dl mode, recovery, or anything.
Odin somehow would still recognize the phone (comm port turns yellow) but fails during flashing of modem. I tried all stock .tar packages with atlas pit too. I tried to flash superclean with no modem, Odin said success, but phone did not do anything.
Now, I moved on to Heimdall to flash. I successfully flashed stock 2.2. When reboot command was sent, I heard the verizon startup sound, but still nothing on display. I waited a little until the phone vibrated when touchwiz force closed. Then, I locked/unlocked screen with power button and the display came back! Yay, I thought until I saw no internal storage, cannot install app, blah, blah.
Now, every time I turn off the phone, it returns to bricked state. Odin still fails, only Heimdall one click unbrick can successfully restart the phone, but again the display is off until it finishes loading and i can lock/unlock the screen.
Sooo, am I just stuck with no internal storage and cannot ever turn it off or does anyone have another suggestion? Thanks for hanging in there and reading all of this too.
So it seems that the phone powers on into dl mode, maybe? The screen is blank but Odin will see it when I plug it in the computer. This is no key combos or usb, just power button.
It also connects right back to Odin if the flash says success. The phone will reboot (I guess, no display), then Odin beeps and com port added again.
Sorry for double post, just thought that was weird.

follow the steps in section 5 of my guide in general section.
I was using your guide from the beginning. I tried both the Froyo and Gingerbread but Odin fails at the modem.bin every time.
Tried all usb ports, reinstalled drivers, rebooted computer...
The heimdall one click is the only thing that kind of works. Are there any other heimdall packages to try?
i rooted my device and flashed a nightly build of CM 10.1. it was too glitchy for me and i saw a build that i liked more ( google editionv2) but when i tried to flash that from TWRP it would just stay on the bootloader or the GS4 screen forever. getting nervous i decided to try to fix it by flashing a .md5 fix from odin. i watched this video /watch?v=bxNPHKKpvtQ and did all the steps correctly and odin even said it passed but when i try to boot it up it goes to the GS4 screen for about 2 seconds and then turns off. and i cant even get into a twrp anymore! Is my phone dead or is this fixable ?!?!? :crying: PLEASE ANYTHING WILL HELP thank you. and i am not the most experienced with all this stuff but i know a little more than the basics so explanations in detail would be nice
Edit: when I run it in Odin and use the file provided in the video it seems to get out of the boot loader while connected and goes to the android screen with the blue square in the middle, then it goes to the Samsung logo video but then right when it seems it will work Odin says the device has been disconnected and then my s4 goes to a battery charging screen. And then Odin says it passed, but when I try to boot it up it goes to the boot loader for half a second then turns off. Did I brick my phone ?
