Have you tried flashing with Heimdall instead of Odin?
Try this....

If you can get into recovery try clicking delete user data, that might work. Also, you could install samsung kies which will install proper drivers so that your phone will be recognized by odin.

Do you have the latest drivers from SDK installed or available on your system? When you get dl mode and plug into your computer, does your machine recognize the device and load the drivers?
I would try either the latest sdk drivers (nexus s drivers basically), or the sgs4g drivers when in dl mode, since thats what you were flashing/porting.
Heimdall which uses its own drivers may be a good option too, as mentioned by crazy above.
Hope this helps

Hey everyone-
I'm trying to ODIN my vibrant back to stock from eugene373's froyo rom, the one with latest one (r3 i think) with the supposedly working clockwork mod (it didn't for me :-/). Anyway, I'm able to get the phone into download mode ONLY by pushing power on and holding volume -, I've already tried turning it off and plugging in the cable and it doesn't work for some reason, but whenever it enters download mode ODIN doesn't seem to pick it up. Oddly enough, ODIN will pick up my vibrant as COM6 when it's powered on, but that's only time I can get it to work. And my vibrant IS NOT hardware locked. Thanks for any help in advance.

Just FYI check to make sure, you swtich USB ports on the PC and also make sure you have all the right drivers installed. Looking at the pics, I see that you are not selecting the rite options. All you need is the PIT & the PDA files selected.

yeah I tried that to, didn't work. I used the very first JFD firmware from the backup firmware thread and the .512 pit file as well and that was it, and for some reason ODIN still wouldn't pick up my vibrant. fyi, i was actually able to get it to flash to an odin copy of JI8 a couple hours ago, but now I keep getting a bunch of FC's and ODIN yet again isn't sensing the vibrant in download mode.

Sorry to break it to you but its most likely an issue with your computer. Try going to the local library and use one of theirs.
Try getting into download mode first than starting up Odin. If that doesn't work try it in reverse.
Just my .02, but I noticed that if I have Kies open, Odin wont see my Vibrant... Dont know if that is the cause of your problem or that you even have Kies at all.
I'm going to go with make sure you have the correct drivers installed.
If you don't have the drivers
Hit up this thread for the drivers.

Agreed. I have to do this every time, but it also works every time. As soon as I plug the USB back in Odin will show a com port has been connected, and then I'm good to go with the flashing. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

I have also had success with this method. Closing odin and reopening before I re plug is what I have done and have had no issues. Vista Ultimate 64.
I need help. My vibrant is soft bricked. I can access 2e recovery but cannot get into CWM at all. I dont even have the update.zip in my internal. I can get into download mode but odin will not recognize my device. (believe me when I tell you Ive tried it all on multiple computers using different cables, usb slots, etc.). I actually fell asleep at my desk last night trying it all. My question is, can I somehow access the internal storage of my vibrant through my pc possibly ? In order to place the cwm update.zip in the root folder then enabling me to "reinstall packages" through 2e recovery ?
Any help is much appreciated. This is killing me.

I gotta get my phone on a charger, so will have to wait and search for the post in a little while, but another person had this issue, and had luck with a windows software that was like an android file explorer or something. Was able to save all his pictures and files. Surely you could also use it to transfer update.zip back to the internal sd.
I will look for that post and get back to you.
Update: this is the thread I was referring to. Hope this helps. I haven't used it, but if it can copy files from the internal, theres the chance it will copy files TO the internal... Good luck!

REPARTITIONING ISSUE WITH HEIMDALL 1.3.0
Heimdall currently has an issue with repartitioning. 99% of the time you will not need to repartition. Failure to follow these directions can possibly lead to bricking:
Do not flash bootloaders if you see this message:
Local and device PIT files don't match and repartition wasn't specified!
This message means your partition tables do not match the firmware.
You will need to use Linux to repartition with this firmware package. Install Ubuntu. In Linux, you can copy-pasta this into the terminal to correct the repartitioning problem and then flash bootloaders. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17485056&postcount=23

SGH-T959 ICS Gummy 1.2
I've been lurking these forums for awhile now, and have been able to figure things out by researching. But I'm having a little trouble with this. Earlier today I was flashing Nero V3, and had a bad flash(after it finished formatting data). Instead of reflashing another rom while in CWR, I rebooted the phone. This brought me to where I am now, stuck at the Vibrant screen. I can get into DL mode, and get Odin up and running. But Odin wont recognize my phone, and I dont know what to do to get it to work.
I've tried 2 versions of Odin with the same results, and at this point I'm stumped. What can I do to get Odin to recognize my phone?
Any help is greatly appreciated
-Nick
Do you have the PC drivers for your phone installed?
If not try installing the drivers from here:
32 Bit Windows Download | 64 Bit Windows Download
Also, if you have Kies running by chance, it might help to close Kies and not run it while also trying to run Odin.
After making sure your drivers are installed correctly try multiple USB ports. Sometimes the ports are troublesome.
Can your Vibrant be recognized by your computer outside of Odin? If so what version of Odin are you working with?
guess that was the problem. I had them downloaded, just not installed. Thank you.
Hi I installed the drivers and pc still doesnt recognized my phone in download mode. Is there a way to get back to stock without using Odin?
Dude try this method of getting intro download mode.
1.remove the battery from your phone
2.plug the phone in USB to your computer
3.reinstall the battery in your phone while holding the phones power & volume buttons.
That should skip the vibrant screen and power strait to download mode..hope this helps

Ok so I have a very strange issue with my Vibrant. When I try to turn it on the phone hangs at the Vibrant screen. This happened after I attempted to restore factory settings on my phone while using the AOSP ish JK2 ROM. After this happened I found it impossible to get to Recovery Mode or download mode. I figured I ought to buy a jig online. After receiving it the jig successfully got my phone into download mode. I was planning at this point to ODIN back to the stock OS. Unfortunately the phone is not being recognized by either the computer or ODIN. I tried using a different USB and USB ports but it didn't help. I also borrowed my neighbors laptop (using the same two USB cords) but to no avail. Also I am still not able to get into Recovery Mode after using the jig.
I'm using Windows Vista and I tried both the ODIN v1.0 and v1.3
I'm willing to try anything! Thanks in advance for your help!
Sounds like you need to install the drivers first, so that Odin recognizes your phone.

I've tried everything on this site to root and get cwm to install custom roms. I've done this with my inspire and infuse but the sgs2 is currently winning the battle.
I have the drivers installed and I know how to boot into download mode but for some reason odin will not work for me. I can't get the yellow bar to come up for me to install the pda file. I like the phone but not being able to flash roms is gonna suck.
If anyone could help that would be great. I've tried all the methods on here and no success. Thanks in advance.
Put your phone into download mode and connect to you computer, then go to to device management either through settings or by right clicking on my computer then properties.
There look through the USB devices on your computer, you should find this listed somewhere there
Code:
Samsung Mobile USB CDC Composit Device
If the driver is set up correctly.
If you can't find the above then uninstall any thing that is any kind of a Samsung mobile device, unplug your phone and uninstall and reinstall Samsung kies.
If you do find the above, unplug your phone, make sure the version of Odin you have is 1.82 or higher.
Then do the following in the exact order
1. Reboot your computer
2. Start Odin
3. Put your phone into download mode and connect to your computer - and hopefully within 10 to 15 seconds Odin should recognize your phone

This should fix the problem:
Get the Samsung Unified USB driver here: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13196871580881
Be sure to uninstall kies if it's installed and uninstall any other samsung usb driver.
Then reboot windows before installing the new unified samsung drivers.
After installation of the new usb drivers reboot windows before connecting the usb cable into the phone.
Plugging in the original samsung usb cable into a different usb port in the
back of the computer is also a good thing to try as Dungeon47 was saying.
Good Luck!
Make sure you are using a USB directly connected to your motherboard. Make sure you are using an official Samsung or Blackberry micro USB cable. If that doesn't help, try another port.
Ok thanks i'm still in the process of trying and doing what y'all suggested. I will let y'all know if it works.
Well I got superuser now but still unsuccessful in flashing rom.
Says installation aborted. Ill try later but thanks for helping out.
Did you try starting Odin first, and plugging your phone in afterwards? That hung me up for a little bit. (I'm assuming you reinstalled Kies as suggested).

Yeah I got root but when I try to flash a rom I'm unsuccessful. Trial and error. Ill get it.
So i tried to flash Erigyts custom/stock rom with root (ZCKPA, 2.3.6) from XXKPF (2.3.5). I didnt find root for the rom, so i thought i could flash a pre-rooted rom. Odin failed, and i soft bricked the device. Im unable to boot into download mode. With my galaxy s i would take out the battery and leave it a while, and then boot into download mode and flash with odin. But i cant take out the players battery. It's like glued with the motherboard?
So i thought i could let the battery die and then charge it a bit and boot into download mode. But every time i plug in the charger/computer cable, it boots up to the softbrick screen. Ive tried very many combos, but cant figure out how to boot it into download mode. My computer/odin doesn't recognize the device.
i have no access to a jig at all.
And the phone does charge(i think).
HEEEELPPPPP!!!!!!!!
update: Ok so i figured out how to disconnect the battery. I did but it dont want to boot into download mode. It still goes to softbrick screen when i connect it to a charger/computer.
