My co-worker came in with his Evo 3d this morning. I'm so fraking jealous of this phone. I'm a Thunderbolt owner, and even though I'm running an Evo 3D based ROM I can't help but feel that the EVO 3D is an experience that I'll never have on my phone.
The construction and build quality are amazing. I loved the weight and feel of the phone in my hands.
The screen's high resolution is beautiful.
The 3D screen is really cool when you find the right angle.
If my wife would let me cancel my Verizon contract then I'd snatch this up in a heartbeat.

I bought the 3D for everything *except* for the 3D, and I have to say after using the phone for 24 hours, the 3D is a killer feature. It just looks/works so great, as long as you find that right angle .

You put your foot down, tell her you're going to save 50 bucks a month and you're switching to Sprint to have unlimited data and a killer phone. Do it!
Actually, we'd pay more lol. I only pay $135 after taxes for 2 lines with 1400 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data on both lines.
Still the Evo 3D is an awesome phone. Those of you who have it should be extremely happy

i got it yesterday and while 3d was not something i got the phone for ( like a lot of us are saying) i did say "oh sh**" when i 1st saw a 3d video.
Thanks for this post, i was still deciding if i wanted to get the 3D since i still have 30 days to replace my epic 4g, and now after this post, im getting the 3D saturday morning. Luckily i preordered it from my local bestbuy, but i can't pick it up till saturday morning, because the earliest appointment they had tomorrow is 9:30 and i didnt want to miss work just to get my phone.

Problem with this that it takes 3 billing cycle if you send your phone in. If you take to store, it's immediate. I'd rather get the trade in immediately and just buy from any of the stores that gives $150.
Will try ebay or craigslist first so I won't have to pay at all.

Hmm, I just left target and they said they could give 130 dollar credits and u would still be paying about 80 bucks out of pocket. That ain't cool. I went to the Sprint store today and asked about the buyback program and my Evo 4G. She just asked for my phone number and started typing.. then asked if i pre-ordered the Evo 3D.. i said yes. She kept typing then told me to just come in 2morrow when i pick up the Evo 3D and tell them i want to recycle my phone and i will get $150. She didnt even look at my beat up (but working) Evo 4G.
Im not sure if she put a note on my account or what but she sounded so certain that i bring it in and get my $150 credit. Anyone know for sure?
I hope i get her when i get my Evo 3D tomorrow.. im doubtfull it will be that easy and that they are giving $150 for any working Evo... if so.. winning!
Sprint will give 150 for the EVO and 115 for the EVO Shift...I know-I work for Sprint. They always offer this as well for those that did not know. Also, you can trade up to three phones to really drive that out of pocket cost down.

I am pretty sure if your EVO is not majorly damaged, i.e broken glass, and it turns on, you will get $150 dollars credit on your account for trading it in. EVO 3D for $50 with full upgrade credit.
I guess ill find out tomorrow hehe Thanks for the help.
I wasn't gonna do that...I was gonna sell my evo 4g and accessories on craigslist but I have been reconsidering it....sell the evo to sprint for the 150 and the accessories for 50.
I have an otterbox commuter, HDMI cable, spare batteries, and a stand alone battery charger.
Think all of that is worth 50 bux?
Do they care about sending in the battery? I have two Evos (one upgraded to a 3D) and it would be great to keep the battery as a spare.

Sprint will buy back the phone.
I took my rooted evo to my local sprint store yestetday and got $150 added to my account on the spot. With my $70 loyalty credit I got my 3d for only a couple of bucks.
They let me keep my sd card and charger.
Easier for me to do instead of selling it.

Sprint will buy back the phones but not the accessories. If you turn in an EVO and a hero the 3d costs you ten bucks. If you want to try and get fifty for a hero on Craigslist you will be waiting a while.

Where I am CL is saturated with them. Over 18 were posted for sale today alone.
I know you leave some money on the table, but the Sprint deal isn't so bad, and with alot less headache and waiting. I was going to go this root but I'm not as excited about the 3D as much anymore so I'm going to keep my Evo.
I dont think you can get more than $200 on craigslist for the Evo 4G and on top of that the internet is probably flooded with people trying to sell their old Evos.. so lots of competition. A few weeks ago people were selling them on ebay/CL for $200+ easily... but now that will just get harder and harder.
I sure hope its easy for me to get my $150.. my phone is beat up and rooted.. but as i said it works and the woman made it seem like id surely/easily get the full $150 credited to my account tomorrow.
I would of traded it on the spot if she asked offered.. but she told me to do it when i pick up my 3D. I hope the quote doesnt go down tomorrow... it shouldnt since every other retailer is offering $150 for the Evo 4g.
fyi..
google sprint buy back.. it will take you to the official buy back program. sell your phone for 150 + any other phone you have. I just did. works just fine.
sold my evo and my old iphone 3g.. i kept my sd card .. just ship the phone itself.

First attempt failed because the rep said that the promo expired, but I can pay $75 as a buy-back option to reset my eligibility. Someone mind linking the post with that phone number in it? I cant find it for the life of me.
Evo 3D is an awesome phone. My account had a glitch or something in it, because i was only with Sprint for 3 months when i was eligable for an upgrade already...i called Sprint and verified and they said it was true. Thank you Sprint computers for randomly selecting me to give me an upgrade, sometimes when computers **** up, we win! So my fiance and I both got brand new Evo 3Ds after only 3 months of service...i am very happy to say the least. So far i am loving Sprint, and their **** ups!
I'm sure this is a question only I could answer... but I have a couple of questions.. maybe you could guide me...
So... right now I have the evo shift.
Whatever phone I get I'm buying off contract.
Then switching to verizon june 2012.
So...
Will the evo 3D have a lot of dev support, as the orgianl Evo had? More?
I'm just debting wheather or not I should get the evo3D. Is it really a good phone? Ignore the 3D part... does it hold its own against other high end devcies?
Should I wait till an icecream sandwhich devicecomes out?
Input?l
Thanks

Given the processing power of the Evo 3D, it will likely get an ICE CREAM Sammich update when it's ready. Most of the benchmarks aren't tailored towards a dual-core chip so they're inaccurate anyway.
This phone is fast, fast I tell you! It's definitely worth it if you LOVED your EVO 4G/Shift. Battery is better for most people, Sense UI 3.0 has finally been coded properly and done right.
Verizon wants me to pay them a $1000 dollar deposit to get a phone with them. I laughed at them on my way out of the store. They have nothing, NOTHING worth a grand.
with only a year before switching carriers, it sounds like your tired of the shift, and/or have the money to spend since your buying out of contract...with that said, the evo3d has lots of devs support from my perusing of these forums...many came from the evo4g...cant say whether their are more or less than the og tho...still have my rooted evo4g and love it, my new 3d is also fantastic! So i think for you, a rooted evo4g, or a 3d stock/or rooted would fit the bill for the next year

Whoa! I have never heard of a deposit of more than $250. and the max deposit that is in the system is $400! You must owe the company money? that sounds very fishy to me. Was this online? If not id try to open an account online first. With the way the economy is in the USA right now, most cell providers are lax on their criteria. a coworker who is 1.7 mil in debt (due to horrible budgeting and defaulting on loans) which is a NO NO, he got a verizon account last month with no deposit at all. just FYI... But sprint has the best data plans for the money, but I wish their 3G speeds were what they should be. Im not being rude, just letting you know that I think someone was taking advantage of you!

Yeah I think ATT max deposit is like 800 or 900... But that is if you have a prior unpaid balance .. so its your unpaid balance AND the 800 deposit... For being "high risk default"
I wasn't trying to prove him right or you wrong just adding more input :b

yeah, I totally understand, I was just adding my input. I think $1000 is ridiculous. the whole "we think we are above god" complex that most.. **cough verizon ATT cough** have developed is stupid. Ive been with sprint twice now. got my first line with them in 1999, then again in 2009. they have changed a lot and I simply love their customer support. Call me a sprint fanboy, but I have been with tmo and att and both were horrible. Im glad to be in the sprint boat at the moment!
Another thought.. I think ATT puts a high deposit on some queries because "we can make more money off them on our pre-paid systems" so lets put a HUGE deposit on them, then before they walk out offer them the pay as you go phone!

I think you should just cancel Sprint I got just over a year and my etf is only 90$ and I got Verizon thunderbolt (is just like the EVO but better processor ), the data speeds on Verizon 3G are so much better then Sprint considering that they have way more customrs, Sprint wasn't bad till in april, they been having some speeds that I don't like (0.25/0.35 mbps download ) and there 4G is a joke , LTE download speeds are outstanding and it stays connected 99% of the time here in las Vegas , yes the prices are higher but their network is better, Sprint needs to do something pronto, the EVO been my favorite phone so far and the only the could match it is my old iPhone, but if the network sucks there is no point is like having a lambirgini without gas, I'm just waiting for this month bill to cancel my line , I'll be paying more for less minutes but then again i don't use my phone to talk much and I got a company phone so is all good . BTW I got it without deposit at all only bought the phone

It's $99.99 on Amazon Wireless right now, but I have a giftcard for $25. I was going to get the ET4G, but they put it back up to $150 from $80 and now I don't really want it.
So is this phone worth $75?
Yes. Get three mystery phones. You'll love them.

Hell yes its worth it! I wouldn't trade it for anything except MAYBE a galaxy nexus. Even then I would miss 3D though.

this phone is wirth 175 lol, but yea, $75 is a steal, i sold my OG evo for 150
It's definitely worth $75.
Absolute steal at $75. Go for it. (I paid $300 for mine)
Hell no, save yourself a contract and just buy the phone cash from a person on craigslist or online.. they go around like 150 to 200$ off contract so why get into a 1500$+ contract for this phone?? ha

Couldn't agree more, I like the sense UI a lot. It seems mo-betta than the GN. The screen on the GN is pretty sweet though, and the thing's snappy as hell!

My parents still pay the bill since I'm on contract with them, so that isn't a problem.
This will probably be my last phone on the family plan.

Definitely! I sold my OG Evo for 300, bought the 3D for 470 off amazonwireless off contract, and it's been my favorite phone ever. it's fast, has a great qHD screen, and works really smoothly. plus, it's gonna get ICS early next year! definitely go for it, especially at that price

well that is good, I personally do not know what to say but I would suggest another phone if you can wait to come out early next year perhaps? the Evo 3D is good and has amazing dev's regardless of the slow progress daily but I'm sure a lot is being done in the back ground. I would wait personally but in the end its your choice; not ours.
