Launcherpro lagging? - HTC EVO 3D

The overall is smoother than my evo 4G, but launcherpro is not playing nice, regardless of the settings I try. Anyone else notice this? Any solutions?

Maybe send an email to the developer. He is super nice and responsive. I'm sure he will work on it if he knows of the issue.

Bump......

I have noticed this too while you're scrolling the app drawer. It's smooth then has a quick lag spike

Could be because of compatibility issues with the EVO 3D

ADW is also having problems too.. not sure if its sesne or the devs but eff it.. will wait for root then do a nice clean gb install

Seems Like going into settings - applications - manage applications - all - scrolled to HTC Sense (3.91MB) and force stop fixed the most of the launcherpro lag for me.

I had the same issue as the OP and this fixed it. The 3D drawer is still a bit laggy sometimes, but the launcher is much better overall now.

[Q] Live Wallpaper Lag

Is there a way to stop the wallpaper from moving when switching between home screens? That way it would be a lot smoother while a live wallpaper is running. I know Evil Eris does this by default but I'm using CELB Froyo.
Launcher Pro home launcher replacement offers this option - to disable wallpaper scrolling. I just tried it on a LWP and it works for that as well. Hope this helps.

I never thought of that! I use LauncherPro so ill give it a shot. Thanks!
You're always going to have lag on LWP's.
Actually that fix worked! The only thing that lags now is the app drawer so i guess your right lol
Surprisingly, I have almost no lag with LWPs. Not all of the market ones work, but the ones that do work fine. When I first starting using them in some 2.1 roms they lagged a little. I found that if the LWP has settings, tweaking them to use less CPU or effects greatly improved lag.

Zeam App Drawer Sluggishness

Hey, I'm using this with Phiremod V5.2 and scrolling in the app drawer is really slow, for some reason. LauncherPro is smooth as silk and videos I've seen of people using Zeam's drawer on YouTube look really smooth as well.
Anyone have any clues as to why this might be the case?

Had the same issue...I like that you could add more than 5 shortcuts on the launcher, but the app drawer just lacked the snappyness of ADW to make it be my new launcher
Yeah, I really like Zeam's dock and its handling of widgets. LauncherPro has some rather annoying quirks, so I'm still weighing it out. I don't really even use the app drawer that often, so I guess it's not a big deal, but still. Maybe I should mess with ADW some more.
I experienced the same issue with Zeam and CM7. The app drawer might be smooth for a couple of swipes but then will stutter or even get stuck sometimes.
I like Zeam because it's so streamlined but have to stick with Launcher Pro for now.
Yeah, I had to give up on Zeam also. The app drawer scrolling stutter made it unusable. Launcher pro just keeps pulling me back in, despite its sporatic fc's on boot up. I guess there is always something. Shame about Zeam though, cause I really like the name Zeam, don' ask me to explain why.
This is still problematic, but Zeam gained a new horizontal-scrolling application grid today that works a lot more smoothly. I prefer the vertical scroller, though.
Strangely, Zeam has always been silky smooth on my G1.

[closed] Fastest App Drawer?

Hi guys,
im still bothered by the crappy performance of my app-drawer.
The best thing I foud yet is AltDrawer (k just tested it 2min but really was smooth)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
But since i got many apps on my 101 I really miss the category function of VTLaucher wicht I currently use.
I already tried out ADW, ADW EX, LaucherPro but all run fine on my wildfire but as soon as high res screen comes into play - performance massively goes down.
Any suggestions?
I use Apps Organizer. Works great.

VTL launcher, v1.7.0, has categories in app drawer.
This is the best launcher for tablets.

Thanks, just stumbled upon Apps Organizer - but its loading time on start up annoys me (3s blackscreen) + its still lagging a bit while scrolling
AltDrawer is faster but no categories
VT im currently using - but hey there is a v1.7.0 ? cool
will check out
EDIT: damn it isn't free anymore and i dont own a credid card so i have to stay with 1.6.5 atm
EDIT2: anyway - i just tried updating - installed an adw honeycomb theme - removed pulse service - and somehow drawer is nice and speedy now ?!!? perhaps affected by the other theme?

[Q] Slow app drawer

I've noticed that the stock Sense app drawer scrolls incredibly slow in the "All Apps" tab and isn't much better in the "Downloaded" tab. Compared to ADW EX it scrolls about as quickly as Verizon gets updates out. Has anyone else experienced this?
My Sense app drawer scrolls just fine.
I have tried both LPP+ & ADWLauncher EX in mine & while both work very well I didn't really notice any speed difference between any of them.

Absolutely! Especially when you use a live wallpaper. It's crawling at about 15FPS it looks like.
I've just decided to either stick with a static wallpaper in Sense, or use whatever I want to in GO Launcher and enjoy the high speed smooth scrolling
I guess I never noticed because I never saw the point in using a Live wallpaper.

I don't typically bother with LWP's either, but I like the ICS Phase Beam LWP, so I tried it out. It's not smooth enough though.
Hopefully having real ICS on this phone with hardware acceleration will help the app drawer to be smoother.
IDK how all that works though or if it effects all aspects of the visual experience or not.
Well, I'm not using a live wallpaper. Just wallpapers from my gallery. I wanted to give Sense a try and I do like it, but the reduced speed of the app drawer is enough to convince me to switch back to the speed & added functionality of ADW EX.
It's not slow, it's designed that way. It is meant to show one full slide at a time rather than flocking through all of them at once. It's just how sense is, you'll need ti install another launcher to change it.

Jim - Yes, I'm aware that it's set up to scroll. Thanks for the heads up on that for anyone who hadn't figured it out. However...
I fixed it. I was scrolling through the app drawer today and hit the "Menu" soft key. I found an option to display the drawer as an alphabetical list instead of an icon grid and now it's fast as can be! I also love the list because it's more readable. I know this might not work for everyone, but hey, it's better than waiting for one slow page after another, right?

Sweet, didn't realize you could show it as a list. Good find.

Why is my app drawer laggy on most launchers?

Rooted, oc to 1.83, supercharger 1000hp..only launcher with zero lag is TW.. Currently using Go with occasionally bearable lag on app drawer and general usage.
On all other launchers though (esp LPP which I'd like to use), the app drawer is very laggy on open and close, but and changing opening speed doesn't help. Everything else seems perfectly smooth with LPP, but the app drawer itself is frustratingly laggy and prevents me from using it.. Any advice?

Bad optimization, abstraction layers, visual complexity, the number of objects.on the screen...among other things, can all cause the sputtering and stuttering we love so much.
People just care too much about visuals and they'll keep buying and using stuff even if it doesn't perform well.
Btw. SPB Shell 3d didn't lag when i used it...anywhere. But its so funky and limited that i found myself back at the stock launcher...and quick.
Have you tried SS launcher?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Haven't tried ss.. I'm worried because everybody is reporting that LPP is perfect on ATT note, I and my app drawer is very laggy.. Not sure why mine is unique.. Everything else about launcher pro is buttery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
for me, when i use horizontal scrolling (left/right) in my app drawer, there is lag. when i switch to vertical scrolling (up/down) it is lag-free.
i use Zeam launcher.
That's strange--with these other launchers, I have very smooth operation EXCEPT for when the app drawer is opened.
Can someone comment on why there is such variation between i717's? anything we can do to rectify?
I use adw ex launcher......make sure you turn off all animations off in system.....and in launcher......turn off anything that maes visual effects.....I have 0 lag... try spare parts app...they have a couple good edits in there for turning transitons fast and faster scrolling options...also there is a build prop I believe max events should be 200....helps as well

Thats crazy, Launcher pro has 0 lag, and on a high end phone like this, no launcher should have lag at ALL!!
TSF works well no lag, sometimes it will reboot upon unlocking the screen which takes about 4-5 seconds. However there is 0 lag, and lots of eye candy, with updates HOPEFULLY on the way. The customer support is terrible though, I emailed them a few times with no reply to date.
Mine is stock not rooted.
I had good luck with ADWex with vertical drawer and transparent background.
TSF launcher is a bit wonky but ultra smooth. Hoping it gets some updates to make it really killer.
Edit-completely stock GNote still. No root, etc.

I've used the stock launcher, SPB Mobile Shell, ADW Ex, GoLauncher and Launcher Pro on my Note I717. I HATE to say it because I've been ADW for a long time, but Launcher Pro has minimal lag compared to the others. I'd say SPB was a close 2nd but you can't customize that one much. Try and you'll see, promise.

My app drawer is very laggy as well, and its jittery switching between home screens.
Coming from an Epic Touch GSII it is a bit tough putting up with the slower speeds even though I have overclocked. I decided to rebuild the phone from scratch, NOT restoring from titaniumat all and limiting the number of programs I installed. It HAS helped but it is still not as responsive as my GSII. I noitce that the memory on this phone gets eaten up and I often only have 40-50MB for running programs. On my GSII I seemed to always have over 120MB free easy. Without getting into the discussion of using app killers, I do notice that if I kill the apps the phone (app tray, home button etc) start responding more quickly. Side by side I also notice that the amount of memory available on the GSII vs Note when all apps are killed via Advanced Task killer is about 100 to 300MB less for me on the Note vs my Wife's stock skyrocket. Once Killed I am lucky to get over 250MB available where her skyrocket gets 497MB available. Not sure if there is anything I can do about that or if it is even related to the lag on the Note, but it is a pain for sure!
Still in my 30 days and I am Loving most things about the Note. However the Lag is heavy on my mind when I considor if I want this phone for the next 2 years.
