i'm looking for an app that allows PDF annotations, specifically highlighting. i'm looking for the ability to select highlight and then just highlight whatever i need. the only program i have found that does this well is qPDF but its 14.99 which is a little steep for a highlighter.
ezPDF allows highlighting but you have to long press, then drag over the text that you want, then select highlight, then it asks you if you want to save a new file..... every time you want to highlight something. needless to say this is frustrating if you need to read through a paper and highlight a bunch of different things.
i just want to select the highlight function, use my finger like a highlighter to cover as much stuff as i want without having to go through all the steps. like i said qPDF does this but 14.99 is ridiculous.
anyone know of anything??
thanks
As a graduate student...I also want this function on my SGT10.1. i will try ezPDF out.
have you also tried RepliGo Reader?
Repligo and ezpdf are similar i believe, you cant just select highlight and go, you have to long press then select the text you want, then select higlight and so on...

I'm using this app to read a book but it doesnnt save progress and I can't use the bookmark function. I see the button at the button that I believe to be the book mark key, but nothing happens when I press it.
Its as if that part of the menu isn't there because tapping affeects the page like normal.
Can anyone enlighten me here because this is easily the best PDF app if bookmarking will work.

Mine does the same thing, also the button to the right of it with an arrow on the document doesn't do anything on mine. I know I am pushing them correctly because the table of contents button to the left of the bookmark one works just fine. I just got EZpdf reader a couple of days ago so I don't know much about it either.
Its gotta just be the nooks screen vs what the apps used to.. I guess...
But on a positive note, how sweet is the page turning effect if you drag slowly from the bottom corner...
ill answer for you, its really sweet.

Oh.... interestingly enough, today when I opened my book from the recent docs tab, it loaded right to the chapter I stopped at..? I confirmed this by killing all apps and then starting ezpdf again and sure enough I got the same result.

Can someone please tell me how to highlight or underline text so I can come back to it easily later?
In my experience, you have to save the document in the internal memory (download folder, for instance). when close it wipe left to right ove the left side of the screen to see the options side panel amd close the document clicking on the X. Doing this, the document should open where you left it off. Bookmarks might work then, but my problem, when i sync the document in the cloud and open it in another device the bookmarks have dissapered. real annoying after spending time bookmarking all the important pages.
Hope this is useful guys
When I need a note, it needs to be very simple to use. Simple to open, simple to type, simple to save and simple to find.
One tap from the homes screen, no title to fool with, auto save on closure and easy to find later.
I have tried several of the note apps but none seem to meet all these things
AK notepad almost does this and I use it but there are two issues I have with it.
It takes two taps to open from the home screen and the notes are embedded in the program are are not visible as separate files.
Any thoughts?

Great and pretty simple, one click for open and another to edit , than back key to save.
The best is Motorola Widget "sticky note" that comes with the stock Motorola roms.

Have you tried Evernote?
IMO "Colornote" is the best and it only uses a couple permissions, which makes me like it even more...

I agree with the color note. One tap on home screen opens app to your list of notes and one tap to open individual note. If only using one note it will open right to that note. Autosave on close. Simple easy...

Perhaps I am do not have these setup right, but..
Using a shortcut from Home...
Colornote requires one tap to open from Home, a second to select new note, a third to select Text
Evernote requires one tap to open from Home, and a second to select new note. But the curser defaults to a title field, requiring a third tap.
Geesh, I don't use notes very often but when the need arises there is a little stress to get something down fast without fumbling with the software. A note app that opened to a new note on a single tap would be sweet.

Sounds like one of those non-issue issues. You have to tap to type. Right? Short term memory?
What were we talking about?

You can try mine I have some reviews in the description that you can check out too:

I haven't seen a thread on this yet and want to see if in the only one with this problem.
When reading on the browser or some other sort of free form text, inevitably I will end up selecting/highlighting text as I up because of how easy they made it for text to be selected. The usual way of highlighting text to copy it is to hold your finger for 1-2 seconds over a word to begin selecting. Here, however, whenever you tap on a word it is automatically selected. It isn't a deal breaker, but does make it difficult to read any sort of article or text without being annoyed.
Is there any the way to change this or to mitigate it? Thanks!
Nope there is no way of changing this behaviour.
I personally don't have this problem you are pointing, I can read and scroll without ever select the text.
There is a small difference between tapping, and swipe your finger over the screen to do a scroll.
BTW, you dont keep your fingers onscreen while reading, do you? hehe
Are you using a screen protector? Besides being able to protect the screen, they also reduce sensitivity.
I have figured out a way to copy and paste on the Nook Tablet (well, in editable text fields at least).
You will need to install Hacker's Keyboard, as well as Swype. There is another thread with detailed instructions how to do that here: [Tutorial] Installing alternative Keyboards on the NT.
To copy text, you hold down shift on Hacker Keyboard and use the arrow keys to highlight the text you want to cut/copy. Long press on settings button on Hacker Keyboard, then change keyboards to Swype. Your text should still be highlighted. Then use the Swype keyboard shortcut ("swype" from the Swype button to c) to copy the text. This copies the text to the NT clipboard. Then navigate to wherever you want and paste the text using Swype-v. I have tested and this works even between different apps, so there is a system clipboard.
The copy paste shortcuts in Swype are like pressing ctrl-x,c, or v in Windows (cut, copy, paste, respectively). Also I should note for developers that the stock ROM does not seem to disable the clipboard, it's just that there is no way to highlight text, and then copy and paste it as these functions are disabled in the stock UI. But we can get around that using this method.
I know, it's a couple steps and a slight hassle, but it will have to do until one of the CM (or other ROMs) are ready. This method is still better for things like copying 15 character long gibberish passwords from KeePass though, for example.
Nice fix dude ....
Will help me till CM7 (or 9) gets ready ...
Is there any app to do this ? T'would be great if a program was written for this otherwise...
Can see it becoming hit (feature to button saviour maybe)
Shortly after posting this, I caught up on my reading and realized that an alpha version of CM7 had already been released. So I thought that my little workaround had been immediately deprecated. Well, it seems that now there are some issues with CM7, so maybe (at least in the short term) my little trick will see some use after all.
There are still reasons to stay with the stock B&N firmware, so the tip is still quite useful.
A small update. In another thread here about Keyboard?, ckevinwelch turned me on to an app called Keyboard Manager, which allows you to switch keyboards based on orientation. I now have Swype in vertical and Hackers in landscape. This is handy for all sorts of things, but especially copy and paste because the part where you switch between keyboards is faster.
Also (and unrelated to copy/paste), need to move over a few characters? Or insert the cursor precisely when editing (I always have a problem with this, maybe it's my fat fingers)? Just rotate to landscape, use Hackers arrow keys for precise positioning, then rotate back to Swype for the majority of typing. It's like getting the best of both keyboards, very handy!
I want to make a little addition.
Opera Mobile Web Browser has embedded selection and copy/paste functions, which are independent from keyboard or other apps.
I've found a way to enable the copy & paste permanently for all text fields - instructions & video at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534757. Requires root.
I discovered a way to copy and paste using google docs. This doesn't help inputting urls or passwords, but it sure is handy to use when writing text into your Nook. The copy/paste comes as part of the google docs app. What's really neat is that your writing goes into the cloud and you can access it with any other computer. So since people where mentioning copy/paste function, I thought I'd add this comment.
I am sorry if this has already been discussed, but this is now going on day 3 of trying to read my textbooks on my Nook...
I am just trying to find something that will be full screen, and not vertical scroll, but horizontal scroll or paginated....that is all...I would appreciate any input on this..
and by full screen i mean without the margins that are there with Aldiko and Kindle and dozens of other pdf readers...i want the whole page to fit in the whole screen...i do not know why i am having a hard time with this...
i will admit i do not read PDF's all that much..and when i do it's on my computer...so if i am asking something that is impossible then please let me know

ezPDF is super-configurable, and it can scroll vertically or horizontally or by flipping pages. you can double-tap to zoom on text, and move from page to page, section to section, or even column to column easily by tapping and it auto-zooms to fill up the screen really nicely as you go. You can even crop PDF files on all pages to eliminate white-space and make the text fit the screen better. It's not free, but I highly recommend it. It's also updated pretty often. You definitely need to take the time to play around and mess with the various options, it's not super-easy to use or configure because there's so many options. It's also pretty fast.

I'll give it a go...thank you
Another option
There's also a "lite" version for $1, which just has the PDF functionality. I use this one and it works really well. Recommended.
