Disregard, it's volup+voldown+power button... too much mountain dew and not enough sleep. Please delete this thread
Hey all, I need some help with my streak5. I flashed it to base 2.2.2, then the latest streakmod, and then installed streakdroid 1.9.0 via streakmod. My install.txt was
Code:
tabmail
bios
volboost
Streakdroid looks fantastic and definitely works fast than stock froyo, however I can't seem to get back into recovery. When holding power+volup on reboot, the screen stays black, and in order to boot up after that I have to first remove and replace the battery. After replacing the battery, the phone once again boots up just fine into streakdroid, but trying to boot into recovery still gives me a black screen.
Is this an incompatibility between streakmod and the streakdroid 1.9.0 bios?
Any help is appreciated!
Regards

Flash amss.mbn to revert your baseband using fastboot
Flash 1.5.1 and let the phone boot up into the OS. (you will get alot of force closes
Perform a factory reset via phone os under privacy or 4 option dell recovery boot menu
Wipe cache
Flash 1.6.1 with text file options that you listed above.
Voila
Do not restore any applications from titanium back up or any other app back up software... you will have to reinstall all your apps.
Cheers
Hey guys, first post here
Had a streak fora bout a month now and it is currently on froyo 2.2 and baseband 319(the o2 locked version)
I have rooted it successfully I think! Using superonclick, found out I had to do a shell root first then a root. So superuser is in my apps and along with that I can use the SU command in terminal.
So I guess thats a successful root right?
Trying to put the new streakdroid on it and this is when I get problems.
I have rom manager app installed and use the flash clockworkmod recovery to streak by clicking it and picking dell streak.
All seems successful but when I try to boot into recovery clockwork, it gets SU permission but just restarts the phone :/
Even turning it off and turning it on while holding volume keys just enters a recovery that isn't clockwork at all
Anything that I am missing at all?
Thanks in advance!
See this thread.
If you want to install one of the Streakdroid ROMs you don't have to root first.
Install (flash) streakmod recovery
Use fastboot -i 0x413c reboot, while the phone restarts hold both volume buttons to get to streakmod (don't let the phone restart normally)
Wipe the cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
Install the version of streakdroid you want
There are some pictures in this thread that may help with using streakmod recovery.
I got it working in the end using clockworkmod.
Found out rom manager isn't so good for streak
Wel I got streakdroid installed and decided I didn't like it so flashed back a stock 2.1 ROM and updated to 2.2 on the dell site.
I rooted becuase I wanted to use titanium backup. I'm now going to setup a stock 2.2 nandroid backup then setup a streakdroid nandroid backup and switch between them until I like one more
Will that work?
All Questions and Problems regarding Streakdroid should be asked in the streakdroid Thread Thanks

has anybody got StreamMod Recovery working after restarting the streak i flashed it started my streak then restarted it and it went to the orginal dell streak 1
That's what it does. Select the flash from update.zip option then it will load the streak mod recovery. It should go o the Dell symbol it and exclamation then hit the power button and you will see the recovery menu.

Mine's doing the same. Flashed Streakmod. When restarting Streak i select 2nd option "install update.pkg" or something like that. Then i end up with stock update option. No exclamation mark where you would press start button to take you into Streakmod.
Solved Gopu provided me with the answer on Modaco
"the issue is with the recovery gettting overwritten everytime u boot with the stock recovery
You can prevent the overwrite of the recovery by renaming the file install-recovery.sh to something else. It's in /system/etc. I just added.bak to the file name."
Hello,
I rooted my phone with z4root, and then installed SuperUser and ROM Manager v4.2.1.0.
I flashed ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 (selecting Dell Streak version). When I try to "reboot into Recovery" (using ROM Manager), the phone will reboot to the startup screen, not to ClockworkMod Recovery screen. If I try to boot to recovery by holding the VOL + and -, it will reboot to the stock recovery screen.
I bought this Streak USED, and I think that the previous owner had flashed a 2.2 version on it before the official upgrade. Is there a way to reset this back to the original settings? I would like to use StreakDroid 2.0.0. Am I missing a critical step in the procedure? Thank you all for your help in advance.

Stop using rom manager, qdltool the phone, then try again. Rom manager has caused a lot of problems for a great deal of people I know.

You don't need to go back to the original settings if you plan on using a custom ROM, it's a waste of time....
You should've read through more threads and found out ROM Manager doesn't play well with the 5" Streak. Anyway, you need to look for the thread under Streak Android Development called Streakmod Recovery and download that recovery image...
Secondly you need to look for the "fastboot" folder download and get that on your computer so you can flash the Streakmod recovery image.
Thirdly you need to download the baseband you wanna use.... I think most have gone from the 318 baseband that was engineered to work for StreakDroid 1.9 to the 351 baseband and it's working for StreakDroid 2.0 also. (if you are just getting started I would personally suggest using StreakDroid 1.9 until DJ Steve has worked the kinks out of 2.0)
Aside from all I just told you you should look this link up to make sure you get all the correct drivers installed:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
This is also a very helpful BUT instead of using Clockwork Mod Recovery you will be using StreakMod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872214&highlight=flash+amss
Get this reading done and then start tinkering, it'll save you a lot of head ache.
I used to freak out when my Streak would take longer than normal to boot or all of a sudden reboot or something like that.... Now I've learned enough to where I'm not scared to tinker and do about anything to it because I've learned how to get it back

I don't think rom manager works with the streak
Hello,
I recently tried to install custom firmware for my dell streak, However, my device
is android 2.2.2, and I tried to install superboot ver 2.1 (Cuz a misleading
comment on a web site mentioned its ok to root the system by it), my dell
suddenly rebooted in an infinite loop. I tried to enter the recovery menu by
holding the volume buttons and then choosing recovery. Also, I downloaded
Streak_309_11548_00.pkg and hoped this would work, but a stupid error
had occurred, bad, just bad file at the middle of verification process.
Anyway, I cant install clockworkmod because there is no way to root the
device, besides I dont have any back-up image of the streak.
please forum help me, the phone is almost new ( 2 tweeks of use only)
and I will pay if your solution work.
Regards and dont flame me, Im a new android user.
tried an older update, new error
Status 2???!!!
You do not have to be rooted to install a custom recovery. You do have to 'catch' the phone as it reboots by holding the volume up and volume down buttons as it reboots after the fastboot reboot command. If you let it boot into a stock rom the stock recovery will overwrite the custom ROM.
Use StreakMod Recovery if you want a custom Rom.
You need to slow down and do some reading before you go any further.

Using StreakMod Recovery
Do you know what baseband is on your phone? If you do DL the rom from the Streak WiKi, rename it update.pkg and put in on your SD Card, do not put it into a folder. Start recovery and select to install the update.pkg. You probably got the error when you attempted to use BB 309 because the recovery and the rom you attempted to flash did not match. They need to match so keep trying until you get the correct rom for the version of the recovery that is on your phone.
You could also use fastboot to install StreakMod Recovery, use the fastboot command to rebot the Streak, As soon as the reboot process starts hold down both volume buttons to get to StreakMod. If you use StreakMod you could install SimpleStreak or StreakDroid 1.9.1.
There are links to useful references in my signature.
Good luck.
PS - your Streak is not bricked as long as you can get into recovery, fastboot or your can connect to your computer and the QDLTool will see it.
Im in recovery menu now and If I click
Software upgrade via Update.pkg
the screen goes blank and then just nothing.
K clockworkmod works now
tell me what to do next.
I tried to install streakdroid 2 and its works WOW, thanx to you.
one last question how to install the latest baseband from the following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091236
sadly the link isnt available.
Don't worry about the latest baseband. If it boots up for you, I would stop there for now. If you were on 2.2.2, then you have either 351-354. Any of those will work for you.

First, I would like to thank you and the forum for your help.
I have experienced a low graphical performance, and Im thinking to roll back
to the latest DJ_steave's custom firmware (2.2.2), However, I can access to
clockworkmod by pressing both volume buttons and then choose the recovery
option, thats weird since almost all tutorials mention that if you want to access
that mod, you have to press the volume up button along the power button.
For now Im waiting for a response whether to downgrade the firmware or
keeping the streakdroid 2.
Regards.
if everything is working then i suggest before trying anything else. do a nandroid backup first, (by going into recovery then advanced and then you see a nandroid backup option)
And i feel streakroid recovery package is preferred for streak as it is designed for streak only and works great.
