Hi all,
yesterday I used an emergency method for the second time which saved my phone even when SEUS doesn't respond. Please note:
1. This is an emergency method, if ALL other methods fail. If you are not comfortable with this, then don't do it.
2. I don't know if this works for the new Mini or either Pros.
3. You can damage your phone if you do this incorrectly, so take care, and you do this at your own risk.
4. If you are still in warranty, this can void your warranty if they detect what you've done.
5. If you're VERY new to all this phone modification stuff, you probably shouldn't do this. But, if you are new and all other methods don't work, then you can try this if you don't want to/can't afford to send away to repair.
Still in trouble? This is ESPECIALLY useful if your phone won't switch on, SEUS won't detect it and charging doesn't show LED. Do this:
1. Take off the back cover.
2. To the left of the camer lens is a rubber part covering the phone. At first, it looks like it won't move, but use something small and thin (like a pin or tack) to gently lift that up, and take it away. You need this so keep it.
3. Inside you will see a small white connector. This connects the battery to the rest of the phone. Use a tack or pin to gently pull back on the white part. When it does get loose, lift up.
4. After a few seconds, put that white connector back. I do it by laying it down and pushing in with the pin/tack, and push down. You must hear it click. Be very, very careful with this, it's delicate!
5. Put back the rubber connector and case.
Try switch on your phone now. Twice, this has helped me when ALL else failed...
**When you take off the rubber cover to the left of the lens, you will see this white tab as you can see in this picture. You use a pin/tack to drag that back, then press down again and push it into the phone to reconnect. This resets it.**
I have used this on the 2010 Mini, and I don't know about the 2011 Mini or either pros...

Sure!
Honestly, this method has worked twice now (only needed it twice) and if the phone doesn't switch on, PC/laptop/SEUS don't detect it/no LED or anything...this STILL works...! It's a kind of hard reset we need, if soft reset (home and power) don't work.
can anyone confirm whether this works on the pro yet ?

If I understand it, this disconnects the battery from the phone. On the mini-pro you can just pull the battery.

Yes, that's right ^^ on the Mini of 2010 you cannot disconnect the battery like normal. This is how you can do it, and it really does fix many of the worst kinds of problems...it re-starts the connection of the phone.
Still not working ;(
i tried this method twice, and nothing happened...
my phone was working fine yesterday, woke up, found it turned off.
i tried to charge it, and it showed no signs of charging, no LED lights, no heat, nothing.
i tried to restart it using the power+home+back buttons, i tried to get it on flash mode, nothing worked.
its still off and NOT charging even though its been connected to the charger for like 2 hrs
anymore ideas?
Hi buddy.
There's something different with these smartphones. This happened to my Mini also. I contacted Sony Eric. and they said make sure your battery doesn't die completely. You must leave it charging in the wall for about 2 hours and wait for an LED (green) to show. If that doesn't work, then I'd try SEUS and repair the phone. If that doesn't work, then I'd try this solution. It really should be the LAST thing you do - if you're not very familiar with this you can break it.
And you tried this method and it did nothing? Really? You disconnected the white wire, waited 10 seconds and reconnected? Then I'd try charging for 2 hours WITHOUT trying to turn it on.
help me plzzzzzzzzzz
Hi!
can anyone help me!
i treied to root my x10 mini pro and something fail
Idont know what happen but i fowlloed the guid but i know that was my wrong i dont know what happend.
My x10 mini pro are breaked now when i try to turn it on it came just SONEY ERICSSON just it, itreied to uppdate by pc.companion but i could not uppdate it becuse the program didnot finde the device.
Can someone help me please.
Tanks!
That is common and you should be able to fix it. If all you did was try to root it, I'm not quite sure what failed. This happens sometimes if you try to put a new operating system (ROM) on the device but something goes wrong.
And PC companion doesn't detect your device?
If not...there is another Sony Ericsson program called SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Companion). Use that instead and tell it to repair your phone. To do so, you connect your phone to the PC, press the power button at the top of the phone AND the middle (menu) button on the front together...then your phone resets. If you have SEUS ready, it will connect your phone, your phone won't boot, SEUS will repair it. The light at the top of the phone will be green if this is working correctly.
Hi, i just bought bricked x10 mini for 20 bucks. I has no sign of life, no led indicator, etc. It's not detected by seus. I also disassembly it to check physical damage( i didn't find any damages).
Phone just won't turn on. Lets check if 2hours charging is working for my case.
Yes, try the charging thing. Sony Ericsson told me to do this by email. I had no idea that smartphones worked like that, but yes. It could have life but not show for 2 hours of charging. (They said DON'T try to turn on the phone while it's trying to charge in this case).
If none of that works then try more extreme methods, like the one I mention with the white cable.
Good luck!
still no luck with charging solution. actualy i've disassembly it so practically i have done your solution. i will go check more deeper about the problem. the worst case is IC failure.
Thank you for the tip phoneyericsson!
I didn't find it hard to do -- I pulled off the ruber thing with a nail, and tweaked out the plug with some small scissors.
I was stuck at the SE logo, and couldn't turn of my phone or enter CWR. I wanted to set it back to standard using SEUS. Instead of using the method mentioned in option 2 here, I simply pulled the white plug to the battery, which turned of the phone. Then I inserted it again and the phone stayed off. Then I simply did as SEUS asked, and now I'm back running, ready to get CMmini on my device again!
That's great to hear! ^^
I forced my battery in the wrong way (reversed polarity) after having a few too many drinks and dropping it...(ridiculous I know)...anyway the phone will not even turn on now. Plugging the charger in doesnt do anything, My computer doesnt even recognize there is a device when its plugged in.
Things I have tried:
New battery
New charger
Different outlet
Is there any way to reset the motherboard (if a fuse or something like that blew)?
Its under a year old so i still have a warranty with my carrier and the phone has no visible blemishes. Do you think they would be able to tell that I flashed my phone about 8 months ago?
Not sure but if u forced battery in wrong way u may of broke the contact points which is prob game over
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
No, the contact points are fine - Ive already had the phone apart and the even the connection to the circuit board is sturdy
why dont you go to PC companion, click on support zone and click phone software update and click on repair phone.. wait until it shows to choose your phone and follow the instructions.. i'm having the same problem before.. and i tried this.. it work
Ive tried that. PC Companion doesnt even detect the phone
search at youtube.. Repairing X10 Mini Pro via Sony Ericsson PC Companion.
i tried this.. and it works..
I had a similiar problem where I dropped the phone after a 'few' drinks. Problem afterwards was that each time I shook the phone or even put it my pocket or placed it on the desk etc, it would turn off and after awhile it wouldn't turn on at all. What I did, was place a wedge (bit of paper) at the bottom of the battery to keep it pushed close to the terminals and it now turns on and stays on fine. Also for some reason, the usb port damaged aswell. I just put a small screw driver in there to clean the terminals, and it works. Sometimes I have to jiggle the cable.
Hi all,
It seems my X10 mini pro is bricked.
Briefly: When I turn on the phone, it vibrates. About 8 seconds llater, the screen lights up, but doesn't show anything, then goes dark again. It then keeps repeating this: once in a while, the screen lights up, but shows nothing, and then goes dark again.
When plugged in to charge, the LED light doesn't come on (and actually hadn't for a while when charging, even though the phone was still working).
I've deleted all the contents of the SD card and updated the firmware with SEUS and PC Companion; both don't come up with any errors and claim everything has been installed, but there is no change in the phone's behavior. Also tried to install the French stock ROM (the only link that seems to work in the Flashtool+ROM thread) using Flashtool, but to no avail.
Does anyone have any other sugggestions?
I was wondering whether it could actually be a battery problem, as I've had some issues with charging the phone for a while before this happened; e.g. the LED didn't work when charging, and on more and more occasions the phone didn't seem to charge when plugged in. Could this be caused by a problem with the battery? (Have ordered a new one from ebay, so will see what happens when it arrives.) I'm not aware that I did anything unusual with the phone software-wise that could have caused it to be bricked. (Phone was rooted, but I did that ages ago.)
Many thanks for your help!
could be the battery going bad since you mentioned you have it ages ago or so. or could be the cable as well.

I've had it for about 15 months. Is it normal for the battery to go after that amount of time?
Which cable do you mean?
i cannot really tell about the battery but the usb cable for your charger.
Ok, it's not the battery. I tried it in a shop with one of their batteries, which worked in their phone, and the phone still won't turn on.
Is there anyone who thinks it could still be a software issue?
Otherwise it seems my options are to send off the phone, which might cost a bit, or to start digging around in the phone myself for a bit. I found a disassembly guide online, but it scares me a bit, since the first step seems to be to lift off the keyboard, and I'm a bit worried about damaging it and about how to put it back. Has anyone else here got any experience with taking their X10 mini pro apart?
Thanks!
Charging issues etc are nornally to do with the dodgy USB port in the phone. Try wiggling the cable at the port end see if you can get it to charge then try a SEUS
Sent from my X10 Mini Pro using xda premium
No, it wasn't a charging issue.
Took it to be fixed, and it turned out it was the cable inside that connects the screen etc to the low part of the screen.
Now that the phone is working again, I've got to figure out how to get rid of the French keyboard layout that I got onto it when trying to fix the firmware ...
Why not flashing mine in my signature, it's QWERTY! ;-)

My X10 mini pro has been fully bricked for some time now, moved onto an Xperia U. However, I still would like to see if this is still possible to unbrick.
Firstly, I have bricked my x10 mini pro many times and ended up unbricking it with Sony's official repair phone feature. Now, the brick before my current brick was harder to deal with. It appeared as if my phone eated up all the power from my previous battery and would not let it turn on at all, just red led blinks. So I ended up replacing the battery and attempted to turn the phone on, viola. It powered, but did not boot into the kernel screen (NAA 11 ICS or something, it was quite a while ago) Although, it did go into flashmode that made it easier for me to unbrick with Flashtool by flashing the stock rom/kernel manually.
Now, after restoring my phone to its original state by re-flashing MiniCM9 3.0.4 and stuff, my phone suddenly decided to freeze itself in its sleeping state. Battery pulls and replaces did not help at all, it does not power on at all, period. Can't get it into flash mode at all, it's just.. Dead? I don't know how it happened, the last ever task I set my x10 mini to do was sync and download my playlist on Spotify.
What's weird is, if the battery is low the led will blink red as normal as it should. Another charged battery would do nothing at all. I've taken it to repair shops, no luck. They all say it's dead so I'm at my last resort, the community of phone enthusiasts. Is there any way to unbrick my old fantastic phone?
Thanks.

There is still LED, so I think it is not hard brick. But if it is, you can try to go to a phone technician that has a JTAG tool. JTAG tool fix bootloaders if it is messed up. It is on a hardware level so home remedies is no longer possible. A hard bricked is a litterally dead at all, no LED and no response. In your case IDK if you really have a defective battery. But my guess is you have a messed up bootloader, the hardware cannot communicate with your software because of that your phone cannot boot(not even on kernel logo), just my guess, maybe im wrong or maybe im right. MAYBE JTAG is the answer for your problem.

Bootloader being messed up sounds about right, and yeah gonna have to manually flash it with hardware such as the JTAG tool as you mentioned. Bah, thanks for the reply.
I have decided to create a thread here due to the lack of support for any phone not in the Xperia z range from Sony.
Basically my Xperia GO has decided to reject any attempt to charge, whether the phone is on or off it just wont charge, the LED blinks red once upon inserting a USB cable, then nothing... I have managed to get the phone to charge by opening the cover, connecting the charger, disconnecting, reconnecting the battery and letting it charge till 100%, though once removing the cable the phone refuses to charge upon connecting it again.
Vol up + power does not work with the battery completely drained, I have not tried the rubber band trick as of yet, but I doubt it would work. The USB connector port has been replaced, but the issue still persists. I assume that its a kernel issue and flashing a new kernel or updating the phone through Sony's update service might work, but again I have not attempted it yet.
My question is what exactly could be the reason for this problem and are there any sure fire ways of resolving it without having to hand in my phone for repairs as its out of warranty and I'm sure Sony would only do a software repair on the phone leaving me with the same problem in future.
Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated! Otherwise ill have to use the phone as a paperweight.
