Hello,
Can someone please tell much free memory they got on the task manager app, cause mine doesn't seem to go above 200, I was wondering if that's normal.
Thanks
I have about the same, from what I understand Android has a built in memory management system, so I don't worry about it

That´s ok. More Info:

Ok... The free memory reported with task manager is the free memory and NOT the avaliable ... Ie. It doesn't include the cached memory (cached + free memory = usable memory) for the real memory use check the bottom of the screen in running applications under manage applications.
Kris
thanks man, u rock!
Thanks Kris for enlighten me!
However, I freed a lot of memory using an App called Startup Auditor which allow to select exactly what services and app you want to autorun at boot.
I disabled Twitter and Facebook, for example. Now I get around 360Kb free.

The title says it all:
Why do Task Managers and Android system show different amounts of free RAM?
ES Task Manager shows 114mb free and Android system shows 212mb free.
And which judgement should I trust?
Curious myself. There is a huge discrepancy on mine as well

Task manager shows actual free ram, system shows available ram, which is free ram + the amount the system can reclaim from unimportant processes, im like 90% sure on this.

I think it's actually showing free ram and then also ram the system is using for cache, whereas task managers show real free ram.

Ive got rid of a bunch, but still only have 100mb free What is using all my space?
try to use gemini app and disable uneeded apps. (disable it in the auto run config)
You have enough ram to run everything and if some app would need more ram then android will kill some but you will never know because super fast processor.

Use link2sd. Your internal memory will not lose even 1mb even if you install 100 apps

i have the same question back then.. when i installed app2sd and launch it, it says there is 35mb cache on the phone memory and ask whether or not to remove it. seems that some of the apps is taking up some room.
i cant tell whether you already root your phone or not by just looking at your statement "Ive got rid of a bunch", if not you might want to do it. its nice that you can remove all the craps that comes preinstalled like mine
get app2sd and move all of those apps, delete cache.
I have like 100 mb free too and I need my few games
I just installed Gemini app. It's real cool stuff! Release 136mb to my mini!

I go to the quick settings and the total memory is 829MB.. 624MB used and 204MB free. There are NO applications running on the task manager. Is 204 normal or should I have more? If so, what should I do to get more?
Thank you

Well that makes sense. My phone is out of the box normal. I guess I need to start rooting it. I dont wanna run out of memory in the end while using apps.
It says 830MB total. And with all my widgets i have 198MB free
I've got 219 free. Having more ram doesn't affect anything unless you are running out. That's when stuff starts slowing down.

RAM manager, in my opinion, is better than Supercharger. It makes my phone smooth on ICS and JB
Thanks friend
I'm using RAM manager.
It's good for my phone.

One solution is that dont install too many apps and uninstall/freeze unused system apps..
I use Ram manager too, in Balance mode i have 40-50 MB of free memory, on MiniCM7 2.0.7 ROM and 30-40 MB free, on GingerDX v029 ROM.
Free Up more RAM

Hi,
you can also try for
1. Memory Booster - RAM Optimizer ( with out Rooting ) or ES Task Manager ( they are just Task managers ) but can help you to free up the more RAM. you can also use auto kill fuctions of these apps.
2. uninstall unwanted apps , will surely speed up the phone
3. if you are rooted your phone, you can use ES task manager to disable some unwanted startup applications
other methods like Superchanger needs some more knowledge of memory handling ,like reserving memory for apps like home to reduce the redraws etc.
Cheers!

better use advanced task killer pro... best..some people claim that task killer are not useful because android manages its own memory... but give the task killer a try you will notice the difference
