Hi,
Coz of water-damage my power button now works randomly. It can be used to lock the screen, but it doesn't work every time.
I am not able to bring up the "Phone Options" menu (the one which has the Power Off option n all).
I have found alternative app options to lock the screen (Screen Off Utils), What I am looking for now is an app alternative to bring up the "Phone Options" menu
Please YELP!!!
Search market for soft keys.

Found 'em
Thanks man! That helped.
Found "Softkeys", "Button Savior" and "NOOKcolor Power Button". Trying 'em out now.
Thnx
Ok...Not what I wanted :-(
Hi,
So...those tools did only a part of what I wanted. I am actually looking for anything that can bring up the "Phone Options" menu. The one you get when you long-press the power button
None of the above did that. So...still need help!
Try spareparts and spareparts plus from the market.
And get a coaster for your cup.lol
Edit: look for a paid app called "Reboot Control Widget"
Sorry, I did not get your problem at first.

Uh, there are tons of widgets to toggle airplane mode, sound and various reboots.
Thanks. That gave me the "Power Off" option I was looking for. So 99% of my prob is solved. But still if there is something that could trigger the "Phone Menu" thing, would be a great help.
widgetsoid has some options, but i'm not sure about this "phone menu". first time you said it i thought you meant the 3845#*500# code
The Phone Options Menu
This is the Menu I am talking about. Is anything that can trigger this menu?
A command that can be saved as an icon on the home screen?
Anything of the sorts.
I think you should look at softkeys settings, there was something like long press or something like that.

ROOT IS NOT REQUIRED D:
Fist of all, I must thank ijestan for telling me this apps via private message in Facebook.
Dont forget to thank ijestan as well!
After I get the help from the developers, finally I know how it works right now.
I just help ijestan to transfer the information for you guys.
Here is the video if you wondering how it works.
1st. You need Screen Off and Lock that available for free on market. Please purchase the donate version form the developers too if you like this app.
2nd. Download and install.
3rd. Long press your home > insert shortcut > applications > "Configure Screen Off and Lock" and place it in your home.
4th. Open the apps drawer, search for "Screen off and lock", long press it and place it in home.
5th. Press Configure shortcut and select Delay device locking and choose the animation you want.
6th. Press the Screen Off and lock that you have taken from the app drawer and then press "activate"
7th. Go to display setting, under animation, choose "all animation"
8th. Go back to your home page press "screen off and lock", and your animation will be working like in the video!
9th. Repeat step 8 to use the animation every time you want to switch off the screen.
NOTE:
1st. This apps will not working if your device animation is in "No animation" or "Some animation".
2nd. You can place the "screen off and lock" under your dock in launcher pro or adw launcher.
3rd. You can place the "screen off and lock" under cyanogenmod settings > input > search key behaivour > long press or press search key > application > screen off and lock. So every time you press search / long press search, the animation will be working.
Please hit a Thanks if you like my thread!
Thanks,
From Melvinchng

Still have to thank you for sharing this great app...
I'm running Gingeritis VIII. When I click on the button (right of the phone button @ the bottom of the screen), it comes up with the web. For some reason, it's not prompting me to change the function or setting of that button. I've reloaded the OS again, and still the same thing. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me how to change the function when I launch the icon?
Thanks in advance.
Update...Figured it out...It's in the Rosie settings.
I did wonder about this for a while till I found it.
I do wish you could set it back to the personalize window though :\ so instead, I just had to set it to system settings.

Hello, I am wondering if there is an alernate method of powering up the screen besides pushing the power button?
I am coming from my Droid X, which would allow me to push the Home button or the Power button to activate the screen, but so far on the RAZR, it appears th Power button is the only way to turn on the screen.
If this is the only way to power it on, does anybody know of way around this to allow the Home button to activate?
Thanks.
Try tap tap app

Thanks for the response. Tried the app and not what I'm looking for. I'm not trying to lock the screen, just turn it on and off. I already use No Lock app to disable the locking, i just want to be able to power on and power off the screen by hitting something other than the power button. Its placement makes it difficult for me.
Widgetlocker may have that option in it's settings. I haven't used WL in a while as it doesn't play nice with the DX2, but I believe it had that option.

Yeah, it does burn some juice unfortunately. Really like the app, but it's glitchy on the DX2 so i uninstalled.
Power on / off or lock/unlock..
Tap tap app does the lock/unlock without any hard keys.

Hi,
I seem to have this annoying problem. Lets say I am reading an article in some app. Now my phone goes on standby after 1 minute of inactivity. In ICS, I could press the home button and get back to the app I was on. In JB pressing the home button closes the app and brings me back to home screen. Is there a way to disable that?
Yes there is. Go to settings, than developer settings, scroll down to bottom and uncheck "Destroy any activity soon as user leaves is"
Also, check background process limit. If it is set to 0 then select "Standard Limit"

My developer options were off. And none of that was checked anyways. The annoyance started when I updated to JB.
Than really i cant help you, because i dont have that problem. I also have jelly bean installed.

Oh well thanks. Hopefully someone can figure out a way to solve this problem.
Have exactly the same problem. Before Jelly Bean this didn't happen.
I guess I'll just have to get used to waking it up with the power button instead until there's a fix.
Btw I'm running stock 4.1.1.

The problem is that the lock screen has not yet activated, therefore commands are passed to the current app running. You need to use the power button to turn on the screen. Else, search thru the settings for where to change the lock screen to lock immediately the screen the screen goes off. This might help.

yes it helps.you must set the lock screen and it works.but is there any way without look screen to ?
This problem seems to be affecting those who turned off S-Voice
Just go into its setting and enable it to activate via double pressing home button. The problem then goes away in JB.
yes it works ! i have only installed s-voice apk and thats it !
Hi,
On the Galaxy S4 you should be able to press the soft menu key on the left side of the home button in the settings menu to make the settings 1 long list like the Galaxy Note 3. Now I did this on a friends model which was unrooted, locked, and standard software and it worked fine. On mine which is rooted, unlocked, LOKI'd etc, running a custom rom I tried doing the same thing and it doesn't work. Is there a link to any mod I can use to enable that feature because I like the longer one menu instead of the 4 tab menu on the GS4?
Any response is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance!

I just tried that on mine (ME7 stock rooted) and it didn't work so maybe if your friend has a different carrier version it has this feature? Well, since you're on a custom rom I guess that doesn't matter, I would suggest Paranoid Android because they have all sorts of options for tablet modes, etc so I'm sure that'll get you what you want.
That feature is still there as I use it as a long list instead of tabbed out. I'm completely stock and have always had that option available
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
But maybe thats why.. because your completely stock so maybe it is taken out on the roms but works on completely stock? Does anyone know of a mod to flash to enable this setting?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
omg i didn't even know about this feature! much better than the tabbed settings layout. thanks!

To go into settings, tap on the "menu" key to the left of the home button, then select "Settings".
Now tap the menu key again. It will pop up a "Switch to list view" message. Tap that to change to list view.
Tap on the menu again and "Switch to tab view" to flip back.
You don't hold the menu button down.

Yeah I tried that and still nothing. I hit the menu key in Settings and it doesn't do anything. Strange. Must have been one of my modifications that broke it somehow. I have Wifi notification gone, e911 gone, volume boost, and international dialer. One of those must of somehow broke it. Thanks anyway
So no luck finding a mod to enable it?
