As soon as i flash bali v1.1 i lose my baseband/radio... I always use kernel script cleaner and flash away. Everything boots up beautifully but i have no service?!
I reflashed trigger redux14 and everything is back to normal, flash bali again and once again no service. I also tried to flash another KB5 modem manually through CMW and still no service. Baseband is unknown when i flash bali or if i flash another KB5 modem.
Bali seems amazing, phone was fast and colors were...vibrant Would love to keep running it.
Any ideas?
thanks!

I was running Eugene's R13 with stock kernel and JK6 modem and all was working fine for the past couple days. Tonight I turned on my wifi at home to download a program off gameloft and when i turned off WiFi to switch back to data, the data signal never came back. I checked the settings and data was enabled. I tried everything to get it back and nothing works. I restored my nandroid back to Samsung out of the box stock and did a factory reset and no data still. I then installed a bionix rom that worked well in the past, nothing. I installed the new Onyx 4.2 and flashed the new JK6 modem and that didnt work. I reflashed Euegene's R13 and that still no go.
Any ideas??
You sound like you are having the same issue as me, I was runing macnut r12, worked great. I upgraded to r13 and it was runing well until I rebooted the phone, then I had no cell network connectivity. I odined stock JFD and phone worked, I reflashed r12 and no dice, I went back to jfd it worked again. I flasged a cw jk6 and an odin jk6 and several modem fles and no dice. I am currently stuck at jfd. If you go in to about phone does it have unknown baseband? I have that now unless I am runing stock jfd
In the same boat here. Please help!
It's actually worse for me. I can't even make phone calls.
Use Odin to go back to JFD, you will be able to make calls / data. Unfortunatley I am stuck at JFD at the moment because no mater what I flash other than JFD, I have the unknown baseband issue. I tried Odin JK2 and JK6 also clockwork Macnut 12,13,JK6 roms, JK2 roms. I also tried using Odin to flash JK2,JK6,JFD baseband and no luck
Unfortunately I can't post this question in the thread that the issue originated from but :
last night I was on com rom 2.0 with OTb1.6 kernel and ec01 radio. I did the ODIN flash to DL09 modem and then up to ED04. Had no issues at all. This morning I decided to take the plunge into gingerbread and used this thread here JT1134 CW7. I played around with this for a few hours and didn't seem to have any issues besides the known bugs. So then I decided to up to the newer rom by nemisis2all
Nothing seemed to have any issues in the orange CWM while applying the update
Now I have no signal.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Also is there a link anywhere for just the original kernel from JT1134 CM7 test build 06/09
EDIT: looking at the phone status is says baseband unknown. So I think I'm just going to wipe all and go back to the original 06/09 build byJT1134 unless anyone has just the kernell.
Thanks up front
Josh
You should try flashing a recent modem first to see if that resolves the problem. I am using EC01 just fine with the 6.09 build from the thread you linked. I have noticed on occasion mobile data will drop, but it seems toggling wifi fixes that (cannot say for sure). But I have not had any problems with voice signal.
It is still an alpha, so keep that in mind, but it has been working great for me.
with the ED04 modem, I did have the signal drop for a few moments earlier, but it seemed fine after reboot. and I have noticed that the mobile data does drop occasionally after being on Wifi for a period of time, but reboot seems to fix that too.
Ya i even just tried to flash all 3 times data, dalvik, cache and then install the CMW7 test 2 from JT again thinking it would jsut revert to the old kernel included in his and work again. But it is still no signal and no baseband version.

I probably should have read in a bit deeper, in order to flash to the ED04 modem I actually had to flash back to a touchwiz rom then flash over the DL09 and I used CWM 3.0.x to flash up to ED04. I had tried to do it in the orange CWM that came with CM7 test 2 and it failed multiple times. After I had gone back to DL09 and updated modem I just flashed CM7 back over and have not had much problem since other than data dropping.
I Just Odin the modem back to DL09 and then CWM Orange from DL09 to ED04 and working again. Thanks for the input guys.
Vibrant with Simply Galaxy 2.8 (2.2.1), KB5 modem, and Overstock 2.4.1 kernel.
Works fine.
Flashed Bali v1.8.6UV uncapped - just to try.
Everything is fine, but no data connectivity whatsoever.
Flashed Overstock 2.4.1 back - everything works fine again.
Not a big deal, but just curious - any thoughts?
Sorry tried a few different roms and coming to wits end
Just wondering which of these is a good stable rom
Tried most recently cm7 and miui the ran good but GPS was wonky at best
Always had to reboot to use
Just wondering what would be a good rom with decent performance that GPS works with.

I think GPS works in Bionix, it is a 2.2 rom by team whiskey. I have never tried it.
I was using cm7 and miui, I liked both, smooth and fast, but minor issues like constant reboot required to get GPS to work. So I'm back on stock deodexed/rooted kb5. GPS works ok, but definitely better than on GB.

In my opinion it doesn't get any better than TeamWhiskey Bionix-v 1.3.1 with Tigers BLood Kernel.
I'm running that. TeamWhiskey has never failed me.
i was on RevolutionRom JVP (gingerbread) with clockworkmod recovery, and i TI Backup'd.... manually wiped data, cache, dalvik, and then installed the simply honey zip file from recovery, and it wiped for me automatically (which was expected) and now during its boot screen where it says "powered bay talon sh kernel", the phone simply goes into a bootloop.
so now my question is, how do i go back to bionix-v (froyo) from the gingerbreaded bootloop? would i have to odin back to stock or something?

If you didn't apply the Gingerbread bootloaders i think you can just ODIN to stock then flash. If you did to the Gingerbread bootloaders I think you have to ODIN the froyo bootloaders then Odin to stock.

NO GB bootloaders are backwards compatible. No need to flash froyo bootloaders.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
it really depends on you. im on miui right now because i cant go without gingerbread, but i also liked bionix. it was extremely stable
ya, it's... im also on MIUI, as 2.3 is the only os with proper copy past.... its just hard to get past the hacked drivers....
as far as the gps, i picked up a bt-gps brick that gets 1m accuracy, i can sit up in the window and works great... cost me $20.
So here's an interesting situation.....let me preface this by saying I know exactly what I'm doing when it comes to flashing things.
I started out running RezRom 1.0, with Ziggy's kernel. I got no problems, no errors. Then I decided to try out Chingy and Newt's ROM Ineffabilis, which comes with the stock kernel. I flashed the new ROM, then the stock kernel, then Ziggy's kernel using Con247's auto installer. When I booted up, I got no Wifi connection. When I went into Wifi settings, it just says error, nothing more. So I went back to the stock kernel, and the Wifi came back.
Then I restored my Nandroid of RezRom, just to see what would happen with Ziggy's kernel there. Reinstalled Ziggy's kernel on RezRom, no problems. Flashed the stock kernel on RezRom, same Wifi error. Bizarre. Back to Zig's kernel, Wifi is back.
Thoughts anyone? Why would the stock kernel not work on one ROM, and Ziggy's not work on the other?

I am going with...
1: When you flashed ziggy's kernel you skipped a step or some small thing happened to cause an improper flash. You may have forgot to flash a file or the wrong one. (you have to flash 2 files, the kernel .zip file and .img file, if you are using a kernel different than what the ROM is designed for) This meant that when you went back to the stock kernel everything was fine.
2: You already had ziggy's kernel running properly in rezROM before making the backup, so restoring the backup and flashing ziggy's kernel meant everything was golden.
3: You forgot a step or flashed the wrong kernel .zip, pretty easy if you are juggling two different kernels and their respective .zip and .img files.
4: Going back to the prior kernel fixed the issue caused by 3.
The whole custom kernel setup for non S=off phones is a pain.
Nvm sorry about that

I know on the thunderbolt, sometimes if you flashed a kernel, it broke wifi. Wiping the wifi settings fixed it. You could do it with a terminal emulator, but we had an app from adrenaline.
You just need to re-flash ziggy's kernel and that should do the trick.
