[Q] Restart Phone? - HTC EVO 3D

I'm curious, when I restart my phone, it turns off (Deletes the Dalvick cache, i'm sure) .. but does'nt turn back on... is that normal? generally Restart, you'd think would mean, well that it would turn back on. when i hit power it turns on no problem.

i dont think it deletes the dalvik cache But someone correct me if I am mistaken. My old Evo 3d did that as well. I ended up getting a different one and it reboots fine. It might have been a program or setting i had. try doing a factory reset and if it still does it, get the phone swapped out

Mine is doing the same thing after soff, rebooted fine before.
And I accidentally made a dup thread with the same issue, my bad

[Q] Anyone else experiencing Reboot with factory reset with 2.2?

I have a strange problem i am trying to track down, this ONLY started with 2.2 The hard part is that this doesnt happen everytime, sometimes when i reboot the streak it will either get stuck at the first dell screen and not boot further, or it will factory reset itself. Sometimes it will reboot on its own and do a factory reset. At first i thought it was the rom as i was using dj steve's, but then i loaded dell's 2.2 and am experiencing the same problem.
Before and after each install i have done the factory dell reset, and have also done the wipe data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik from clockwork, and i still yeild the same results.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the possible cause of this could be? I have seen talks of reboots, but no talks of chronic factory resets.
Check if it happens when you bump the phone flat against a table. If so it is the battery losing contact. I had the same problem (but without the factory reset) - fixed it by sticking a piece of paper under the battery. Hope this helps.

unfortunately its not a battery issue. Most of the time, i initiate the reboot and when it boots back up it does a factory reset. I have only had it reboot itself twice with factory reset.
I'd be seeking a replacement asap
I had issues with my DS on the weekend after having it for only 1 day, but realised that SetCPU was giving it grief. After a full reset and without using SetCPU, no probs, up time is now 73hrs and counting

Thats kinda what i was thinking, except this didnt happen until i started messing with 2.2. However i do realize this could be completely coincidental. I am planning on putting this back to factory 1.6 tonight and running that for a few days to see if i still have the same issue. Was mainly looking to see if anyone else had the same problem, otherwise i would say it seems to be an isolated incident!
Actually, I have noticed another issue with my DS. Sometimes when I turn off and turn back on, the button lights turn on, but no Dell logo. Just sits there until I pull the battery..
Doesnt happen all the time, but it is very strange.

I had a similar issue related to this. Basically it would boot to the dell logo, but wouldnt boot to the dell animation. I could let it sit there for 10 minutes and hold down the camera button and still get to fastboot, or volume keys and get to recovery.. Im pretty sure my phone is F'd so im gonna send it back.

Phone wouldn't boot

Hey gf was playing game (defender) and the battery died so after pulling the battery I got the cell to startup but it would show the bootloader or anything so after just letting it charge at the chargeing screen retryed starting up and left it for a couple hours still nothing and then I left it for a bit and decided to try it again and I got a backlight so I let it go for a couple more mins then normal it it went straight to the lockscreen with no bootloader I think something happened to the delvik chache since that usely makes it take longer to boot and nothing was changed so I don't think anyother chache or factory default was deleted the cell has pesopefect ROM any advice on what might of happened and how to prevent it from happening again

Try reflashing the rom again wiping cache and dalvik cache
Will give that a try I also noticed the other day when I was useing her cell that it no longer locks and the home button dousent work except to turn the screen on I suspect this will be fixed once I flash the Rom but for future problem is their a quick fix for this?

[Q] Help: S3 broken?

Hi all, I bought my S3 last june in Italy. No problems at all ... until today.
This morning I left it on the table and after 5 minutes I saw it was turned on asking for the PIN code. I typed it, but after 5 minutes again I found it ... I supposed turned off. But then I couldn't tourn it on anymore. I tried to reset it keeping pressed the on/off button but nothing. I removed the battery and inserted it again after a minute but nothing. I keeped the battery out the phone for an hour, then inserted it again and the phone turned on.
All seemed ok, but then after 1 hour I found the phone stuck again: black screen, it seemed turned off but no button worked: reset, on/off ... Again: 30 minutes without battery then I could turn it on.
I'm not sure, but I suppose it hangs when going in stand-by. I tried to keep it on and it didn't hang for 1 hour. Then I backed up all my apps and data, tried to recover to factory default buuut ... it turned off but never tourned on, same problem as before ...
I suppose this should be important: I never rooted or modified the phone, it still i as I bought it.
UPDATE: it seems it can't reboot. If I try to rebbot while in AndroidOS the phone shut down but never turn on again (as described above) and then again take off the battery, wait minutes and so on. But even in recovery, where I tried to wipe cache e data/factory reset, if I choose reboot system, as before the phone shut down and ... same procedure again. I don't think it could be a software issue ...
Something about battery? But how could I check it out?
Any idea? Thank you all in advance.

I had thus exact same problem on my T-Mobile Galaxy S II. Something with the ROM and kernel that I flashed were clashing so I flashed another ROM. Try going into recovery mode if you can. I don't have an internationalS III but if you have flashed a recovery, then hold the volume buttons before you turn it on and continue to hold them until you get into recovery mode.

Dont know didn't find any info in your text about battery charge or plugging in power socket and try after 10 mins to boot the phone.
First of all than you.
A little update: it is definitely not a battery problem since I tried another battery but the problem was there again.
Moreover, I never changed the firmware or the modem and I never rooted it since I can't try another ROM, even if I would, it is not in the "state" to be rooted.
Soooo ... mother board?

Random brick after night

So, yesterday afternoon i plugged in my phone to charge (about 11 PM) and left it for the whole night. I also have to add that Ive been running a mobile AP on it for the whole time. Today morning, I wake up and its crazy hot. I quickly DC it from charging, remove the back cover and let it be for a sec. I unlock it, it runs for few seconds normally and BAM, background behind icons is black and it froze up. I remove the battery to perform a hard reset of sorts and then the worst thing happens... Phone is stuck on boot Samsung logo. I turn it off again, hoping for a quick fix but it accomplishes NOTHING. I plug it into the charger and battery icon is visible but the circle on it is stuck and nothing seems to be happening.
Now I go into recovery mode that's working - surprise! And delete cache and dalvik cache. Nothing. I go back delete those things again and battery stats too this time. Nothing. I go back and do a factory reset... Nothing. Yeah.
So, imo since recovery is working it can't be a burned CPU/RAM right? Most likely (or hopefully) it's just the software that died? Im in the process of downloading a ROM and I will put it on my ext. SD card along with super-wipe that I will run but I was wondering - are there any good ROMs (or something else that might save my ass) that can be installed using Odin?
Yeah, it seems it was the case. Just installed ROM from my ext. SD and it's booted up which is very nice. Seems that it overheated and somehow killed my everything. Which is weird and anyone cares to help me explain this?

Hard resets when rebooted or powered off/on....

My old note hard resets itself if restarted or powered off then on. It doesn't do it every time...but 5 out of 10 restarts or power down/up will cause the phone to hard reset. Pretty annoying as I cant sell it this way and it's essentially a paperweight at this point. I've done a full wipe/reset data/wiped dalvik cache, reflashed rom and still no change.... Anyone had this happen to them? Is the phone toast?
