I have Andriod OS 2.2, TAP UI: TnT Lite v4.4.0, Kernel version 2.632.9-00001-g6e47897-dirtyclemsynATclemsyn-MM061 #221. How would I install the Gtabcomb 3.3?
Step 1. Install ClockworkMod Recovery. It will be useful later on.
Watch this video and follow the steps, but, stop after you've installed ClockworkMod.
Step 2. Install GtabComb.
Then watch this video to install GtabComb using ClockworkMod.
Installing GtabComb to stock Gtab
Hello, I was just wondering about the Gtabcomb installation process. The video installing clockwork mod and Tnt is from stock however the GtabComb installation is from Tnt. I am going straight from Stock to Gtabcomb, is there anything i need to do differently or can i just copy the install.zip file and install it from clockworkmod?
Thanks for your help
PS. does anyone know of a place where there is step by step directions for Gtabcomb rom from the stock g tablet?
gtabcomb 3.3 Market
I have gtabcomb 3.3 installed and it runs super, the issue I have is Market, I can get to it but trying to download or even via the browser I get an error. "error processing purchase" which occurs on free downloads. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
droider
I am having the exact same problem and would appreciate any advice... As a workaround, I installed Android injector from CNET, but would like to be able to do the market directly.
Download the latest Market app apparently is the key. Here's a link to a link to a link:

Hey guys i am new to this forum and am facing problem as below. Let me know if someone has experienced similar problem:
has anyone installed GingerBread rom: VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 posted by gozimi?
http://vegantab.gojimi.com/2011/04/11/vegan-tab-gingeredition-stable-rc1/#comment-591
I brought a new gtablet and updated the stock firmware on it.
then i installed VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1. but its now stuck in boot screen with 3 birds and not moving forward. Clockworkmod did said that it installed the ROM successfully.
looks like something to do with boot loader..Tap n Tap guys have become smart enough and blocked boot loader for any other custom rom.
i got one post from gozimi:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036956
which says that they have locked boot loader on recent tnt roms. i think thats my case.
My questions:
1.) is there a way to bypass the boot loader?
2.) Did anyone has luck installing this ROM.
Thanks
Rohit
You need to nvflash. There at least 30 threads dedicated to this problem
you need to read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035983
and then will probably need to use nvflash and give the whole process another shot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012009
and someone with way more experience than me will probably come along soon and help.
nvflash has its own issues..i got stuck up while installing windows 7.0 drivers...someone pointed me to nvidia tegra website but couldnt found out drivers...
finally i downloaded Tap n Tap rom using clockworkmod recovery and it booted like charm..i am back to stock rom now.
but i need TnTlite or VEGAn. looks like the upgrade i did on stock rom modified the boot loader to prevent other kernels from being loaded at boot time.
Can you point me to some article that has steps to bypass this limitation. I already looked at:

Thanks a lot for your help.

OK I'm pretty noob at this flashing ROM and factory reset thing, so I apologize ahead of time.
I have Vegan GB installed now but wanted to try BOS. I know I need to get to 1.2 to install and as far as I can tell I need to use NVFalash to get to a stock ROM correct?
Can I use CWM to get to a stock ROM or NVflash only?
Would there be a better ROM for me to download? I really use it for multimedia the most (movies, hulu if possible, netflix if possible, and Kindle)
Thanks
I recently moved from 1.1 to 1.2 following roebeet's instructions on SlateDroid. Can't link them here, but it's not too hard to find them. I nvflashed back to stock 3588 and then used standard recovery to flash 4349 stock (just to try it out). From there you can install CWM (not .08, there is a newer version for the 1.2 bl) and flash BOS.
I believe the process is simpler with the latest alpha releases, but check out roebeets HC post on SlateDroid for the most up to date instructions.

From what I have read, and someone can correct me if I am wrong, flash is not yet working with BOS. That's one thing holding me back.
The only Rom I have found that works with Netflix is CM7. I could not find the Netflix app in the market, but simply googled "Netflix APK". Works perfectly.
I was also running Vegan GB up until a few days ago. I miss the locking of app icons along the edges feature, but the video playback and ability to use Netflix has won me over to CM7, which is 1.1 and requires no nvflashing.
Hi,
i just got my G tablet recently and I decided to install Clockworkmod and TNT Lite.I followed instructions to install Clockworkmod using the a USB cable and it worked perfectly.I installed v3.0.2.8.Then, I downloaded TNTLite and moved the update.zip file to the root. When I did that, the only option to put it on the root was to replace the update.zip file from Clockworkmod with the new file from TNTLite.I went ahead and installed TNTLite and installed pefectly.I booted the tablet but it got stucked on the splash page with the Viewsonic logo.I don`t know what I did next but now every time i boot it goes straight into Clockwordmod.I reboot and doesd the same thing. When the splash page appears, in the top left corner it says:booting recovery kernel image.
Can anyone help me?
There are a couple of issues here.
First of all you need to determine which bootloader your gtab is on. There is a sticky which will help you with the whole bootloader issue. You are likely on 1.1, which is incompatible with the version of clockwork you loaded. You need clockwork .08 for the 1.1 bootloader. v3.0.2.8 only works with the 1.2 boot loader.
TNT lite has been retired, and although it is a solid ROM, it isn't being actively developed. The active "version" of TNT lite is hosted on slatedroid and is called Mountain Laurel (almost certain of the name, but I could be mixing them up). Both of those are based on the 1.2 bootloader.
Also TNT lite and Roebeet's other mods are typically installed via standard recovery rather than clockwork mod. This is at Roebeet's recommendation, and should have less rick of brickage.
Goodintention's site http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ should get you up to speed.
Your best bet at the moment may be a full restore with nvflash, which you can read about on the site above. The site will also help clear up the 1.1 vs 1.2 issues.
Thank you very much for the post!
I will follow your instructions and I will post a message tonite with the results of my experiment
Wish me luck
Good luck. Be careful though, my instructions are only a quick guideline, be sure to stick to gtab for dummies site, or something like of these tutorials:

I`ve got it back to stock!!! Thank you!!
Now, I have to install a ROM on it. I will post back the results!
Thank you again! Any tips on getting a ROM installed?

You really need to go to my site gtab for dummies linked in my signature. There you will find step by step instructions on how to flash (install) a new rom. I hope you used the files provided on my site because the nvflash on my site came with cwm pre-installed. And on my site, you will also find a list of all available roms at this time. Just go there and see for yourself. Make sure you use the "start here" page.
If your on stock 3588 then this tutorial is a great reference guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
As for installing a ROM it's pretty straightforward and it doesn't sound like you'll have much trouble. Vegan Froyo and Vegan Gingerbread are great solid roms. There's a lot to try out so have fun.
Thank you very much for your help! I will work on this tomorrow and post the results!
Really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Just to add my two cents - it looks like you are mixing up 1.1 / 1.2 dev branch items (luckily you didn't soft-brick!).
TNT Lite is a 1.1 ROM (no longer being developed), but my 3.0.2.8 rev5 cwm is for the 1.2 bootloader, so they aren't compatible. Perhaps you used another 3.0.2.8 that's not mine?
"Mountain Laurel", over in Slatedroid, is he successor to TNT Lite. It's based off stock 4349, and it's 1.2 dev branch based.
As for the cwm reboot issue, did you try and wipe data in the UI, with cwm installed? If so, the "cwm forever reboot" is known to happen. The "fix" is to get standard recovery installed so that way the data wipe completes.

I too am stuck in CWM. I was on the 1.2 ROM branch, and was using the CWM v3.0.2.8 (1.2 branch). How did you get out of CWM? I'm guessing you had to do a nvflash - I've done that before, but how do you get to the APX screen? (if that's what you did).
Roebeet also said "As for the cwm reboot issue, did you try and wipe data in the UI, with cwm installed? If so, the "cwm forever reboot" is known to happen. The "fix" is to get standard recovery installed so that way the data wipe completes."
1) yes I did a wipe data using CWM but not sure what Roebeet meant by "UI (user interface), with cwm installed" - I'm not sure how else I could do a CWM data wipe using the UI?
Edit: got it. In the UI, sometimes under Security, you can do a factory/data wipe from there.
2) The "fix" " is to get standard recovery installed - what is the "standard recovery"? and more importantly, how do I install it?
Edit: Is the standard recovery - going back to the gtab stock (depending on what branch you are on)?
After I installed the CWM application, my GTablet will not go to the CWM menu. For the CWM install, I went to GTablet for Dummies and followed the instructions exactly. I have a Tap UI version 1.1-3588 GTab, and downloaded the 1.1 Branch (3588) from the site, but after downloading the CWM link, it continually boots to the factory OS. I had planned on moving forward with a new OS (possibly VeganTab Gingerbread), but can't get there. I received a suggestion to move forward and install nvflash, but that didn't work either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am currently running:
TNT Lite v4.4.0
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-00001-g6e47897-dirty
[email protected] #221
Build FRF91
I updated from stock to this using clockworkmod a few months ago. I was looking to install the latest version of Vegan from CW but it did not work. Did some searching earlier this evening and found out I had to update clockwork mod. Searched for about 2 hours and could find ZERO instructions on how to update from clockwork mod 2.5.1.8 to new CWmod v8. Finally came across a post that mentioned using an app called ROM Manager which would do it automatically, so I said cool and went for it.
Now I can't access CWmod at all
I hate to ask a newbie question but I can luckily still boot into TNT, but no clockworkmod. What do I need to do in what order so that CW can work again and then I can move on to VEgan (I'm looking for a more stable ROM and as told that would be a good bet) Thank you to anyone who could lend a hand. Been at it trying to read and fix on my own for a few hours now. I even tried looking at this site but again, do not know what to do in what order to fix (http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/rom.htm)
I hope this all made sense. Take care.
Oh, also, when I searched here I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023164
but did not find it applied completely to me. Thanks again.
There may be simpler ways to solve your problem, but at the very least you can nvflash back to stock with clockworkmod 0.8 pre-installed. See this page:
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/nvflash.htm. Go down to the section entitled 'NVFlash to Stock with CWM pre-installed'.
From there, you shouldn't have any problem getting Vegan Ginger Edition installed, or any other ROM for that matter.
