[Q] Kies not recognised, how can i fix? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have searched but have not found a solution yet.
I flashed a few different roms but now want to flash back to stock which i can update through kies. I have tried several stock roms and kernals but kies keeps telling me my device cannot be updated.
Any help would be great.
See pics for my current rom.

Do you have the correct product code on your phone? I am from Sweden and i can type * 2767 * 438 726 4636 # in the dialer I don`t no if you can but give it a try. Look under p code and see if that code is the right for your country

I had that problem with Kies with my S8500, fixed it with some Regedit. You could try that, in Windows,
Run- Regedit- HKEY CURRENT USER- Samsung- Kies- DeviceDB- 1/2/3- There you will see Product Code on the right side window, and it must be 'XXXX' as you are having that problem, just change it to your original product code, which you will find it in your Phone Box, then DO NOT close that windows and connect to Kies, see if the problem is gone or not. There is also a Kies patch out there, which I can't remember, Google could help you.
Regards.

Thanks for ur reply,
Heres my product code how do i know if its right

Your Product Code is written on your Box.

Cant see it on the box, my wife just got one delivered today and its not on her box either, am i being stupid should it be a sticker?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

Yes, it's a sticker.

The only sticker on either boxes is the imei no and barcode?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

Barcode sticker is there as well as the Product Code sticker. Don't you have a sticker which have the details like, Imported by, Manufactured place, Net Contents etc., in that sticker the top most thing written is Name of Commodity- Mobile phone and the product code right next to it, like- GT-I9100LKAINU for mine.
Regards.

No mate, no other sticker there, got it from phones 4 u unbranded when it was first launched, if that helps?

Did you follow install instructions properly ie. Format data and system?
Go to call settings and see if the call forwarding option is enabled. If not then reinstall the rom properly or try a different rom

Yes thanks to all - i installed everything the right way and do not have any call forwarding enabled in the menu. The phone has been blacklisted and now i have to reflash it. Does anyone know what exactly should be flushed into my brick ? I bought it on the street cheaper than usually, that's why now I have a problem. Please send me PM if someone has more experience than I do.
If the phone has been black listed then there is nothing you can do apart from learn not to buy dodgy phones from dodgy people on street corners.
You can go to the police and return the phone to the owner, he must be looking for it
In most cases not, since it's usually insurance fraud (especially the ones in boxes with ths stickers still intact)
Why do people buy a 500€ phone on street corners? How about warranty etc?
Samsung does not have to fix your phone, the seller does.

You have already been told,, if it is blacklisted then you can either go to police, report it as stolen/fraudulent and see if they can help you resolve it, or you could get your money back from the seller.
You won't get any other answer here

[q] help: Samsung galaxy s2 owners

Hi guys, I recently lost my phone and I've filed a police report with basically where the person who found it lives, their SIM card # and etc. They've asked for a serial number which I thought was the IMEI number but it seems that they are different. I only have the box and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me where on the box is the serial number.
If you own a samsung galaxy s2 I kindly as you to please check the back of your phone and your box to see which is the correct serial number?
side of box: oi50.tinypic[dot]com/xb0pqa.jpg
bottom inside of box: oi50.tinypic[dot]com/2q06qa1.jpg
(sorry i can't include links)
Thank you so much for all the help!!

Code bar, one should be the IMEI, the other should be the serial.

Ask Samsung.
Also maybe next time you would consider installing an app like Ceberus. That way when person who finds it tries to unlock it or change sim card it will automatically do things like take photo from front/back camera's, take GPS/mobile data location.
You can also do things like remotely take pictures, vidoes, sound recordings, locations, internal/external sd wipes, make device scream (even when on silent) etc.

LCD part difference, SHW-M440S vs. GT-I9300?

Hi,
I have an SHW-M440S version of the S3, which I picked up in Seoul last year, while I'm actually based in Europe, where they sell the GT-I9300 version of the S3. The screen got shattered a bit, and the official Samsung service is giving me a hard time replacing the screen, saying the SHW-M440S is 'different', and they have 'logistical issues' sourcing a screen for my phone. These are statements I don't actually believe to be true, as if if the screens are different, they are made in the same factory. I simply think they just don't bother to look it up.
I tried to dig into service manuals & parts list, but couldn't dig up a service manual for the SHW-M440S online. I wonder, would anyone know if the screen component is _really_ different in these two models, or they are just BS-ing?
thanks,
Akos

that's what I thought. but how I can I prove this to them, so as to rub this under their nose, and point out that they are simply lying?
I dont really sure about the way to prove...maybe contact a samsung service with that question and show the answer to the service you wanna use.. however you can tell them that you did it in the past or something like that

LCd SHW M440S
Hi Akos,
Recently I had the same issue. I was trying to fix my SHW M440S by ordering online a new LCD (I am in italy so there is only the I9300 available) but the shop told me that when they asked samsung they said it was not possible. they also specified the lcd would work but the problem is when u try to connect the rear part of the phone, which apparently differs in the two cases.
Any news from you about that?
thanks
Same issue here as well

I know how you can repair but you need to someone with jtag hardware. Just try to search for people in your area for jtag repair. Or riff box.

thanks,
I will search but you think the Riff Box Supported Samsung Models : I9100 ??!
and this box will repair the phone??
I think riff box not support Samsung Galaxy SII I9100 but it supported I9100G and i don't if this box it will be fix the problem.
I saw some couple of riff boxes last summer. And from the research I've made with them yes they support i9100 and that was the possibility to repair or modify imei. I don't remember the name of the boxes but as you discribe the box that supports the 9100g it shoukd support the normal 9100 just update the box software.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Unless you know what you're doing, don't try using a riff box or attempt a JTAG. Take it to someone who has already done hundreds of them. If you mess it up, you'll end up needing a motherboard replacement, and even worse, if you're careless with the soldering iron preparing to JTAG, you'll bork your phone beyond repair.
Be smart.
Riff boxes generally don't use soldering. Just a usb filter. And if someone as a riff box knows how to use it. Same for jtag thats even complexer. This yes uses soldering and don't advice that. But the riff boxes are ok. I've used two of them in galaxy s and galaxy s2 like child play. It's not dangerous when you know what you're doing.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
That's right, when you know what you're doing. 95% of people on here (n00bs) don't, it's the whole 'if you have to ask, don't try it' thing which clearly applies in this person's case. I mean, they didn't even have the wherewithal to make an EFS backup which could have fixed this problem fairly easily.
If they're smart, they'll pay someone to fix it.
Yes but i don't think he owns a riff box. Someone he knows owns one. But needs some updates. And maybee can help him. I don't think he should do it be himself.
And friend don't try to repair with i9100g settings from the box. You will loose your phoe!!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
very easy my friend if you have ns pro download the baseband repair for that model and then you download the file flash it with ns pro and repair imei with the same box

Serial Number

Hello, wish you have a good time.
I've got a Huawei g750 t-01. Once I updated it to android 4.4.2 and now its serial number seen in setting > about phone is different from the one labelled on the back of the device beneath the battery.
Is it the way it should be or... ?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HUAWEI G750-T01 using XDA Forums
Shouldn't happen, may have been different when you got your device, but if you're sure it was the same prior to update then I would be suspicious of that update, was it direct from oem?

Can't remember whether it was the same before the update.
And I updated the device via recovery mode.
Sent from my HUAWEI G750-T01 using XDA Forums
Its real unlikely the update changed the serial number, I would assume it was either tampered with if you bought it used or a mistake from factory

Thank you for the answer.
So, would I face any problems?
If I wanna contact the company, is my phone a valid one?
Sent from my HUAWEI G750-T01 using XDA Forums
Its valid as it works but if you have issues down the road there could be warranty issued. If you purchased direct through the oem or official supplier you should be OK, if you bought through a 3rd party like eBay you may not. Either way just hope for a problem free phone
