Well first.. No need to TYPE LIKE THIS, it is really annoying and hard to read.
Second "Ive asked Eugene and Barak on twitter and thier forums...no answer...Must not want my donation money" that is a bold statement, doing the port wasn't about who wanted some money... If it was that easy to do, it would of been done. You guys don't understand how hard it is to do some of the stuff, we had it booting & we ran into a few major issues like no signal (We just needed to replace some drivers) and it was just lagging to hell.... I wen't into the chat about a week ago after having my own stuff to do & it was basically deserted.
And to that person who donated $50 to the project, I would contact Whosdaman about that because he was the one who got all the donations I believe... If you wanted.

I can officially say that im a newb at this and finally want to get my feet wet and give it a try.
Im very motivated to do this and promise i wont be half assing it. Besides i don't want to do anything special, just a simple apk file theme.
Can someone point me in the right direction and all the programs i will be needing. And if it will cost anything i would like to know how much as well.
Any feedback is good feedback. thanks guys
I have one hell of a tutorial. Tells you everything about theming. I will send it to you later if you want. I'm at work right now so can't. Pm me your email if you want it.

Asking for thread to be closed.
Sometimes we fall victim to thinking each forum is the same as others. Any person who came from the evo to the photon knows how quickly a bounty thread can turn into us vs them.
us=those for bounty
them= those against bounty
Me I just rather not be involved in such behavior because at the end of the day we are all here for one thing:
CM7
lol.....
the link isn't working
I pledge 10$
The link isn't working for me either. Once it's working I'll put in $10.
Edit: craigbailey1986 is correct about t0dbld being the official Atrix porter. My bad, no hood winking by heroine addicts going on here.

Sorry guys about the link. And when I get to my computer I will fix it !!!
Hood winked?? That's a bit weird to say, since the guy I listed does the porting for the atrix. But I will fix in a few
The link is correct, it is our browser on the phone that is not allowing it to go to the correct page. I am on the computer and it goes to the correct place... sorry guys... download miren browser and it will work properly.

I am always down to donate when someone makes something I want or feel is enough of a benefit to everyone, I don't really feel the same if I am basically paying someone ahead of time to "try" and do something. I really appreciate the many people who spend their personal time to make things work or work better for everyone. They definetly deserve the little bit of beer money they get from us.

Plus I'm pretty sure you started the CM7 thread first. All I'm saying is if people are willing to develop, why not support them?

No what was said was give up enough money to buy a couple ppl phones and "they" will try to port it. Very different then chipping in beer money for someone who made something you might use. It its called a donation because it its voluntary and all dev its done with no warranty, if you brick your phone it's on you.

I dont think you understand what a bounty is or just looking for something to complain about.... It is paying for something you want before you get it.... I am not asking for anything nor is the atrix team. He stated they would need a phone to properly port and test it for us. We must realize that I went seeking them not them just porting on their own free will.

Not sure if that is sarcasm... But guess either way its not worth feeding into.
A bounty is usually applied AFTER service is complete. You don't see bounty hunters getting paid BEFORE they bring the guy in...
boun·ty /ˈbaʊnti/ Show Spelled[boun-tee] Show IPA
noun, plural -ties.
1. a premium or reward, especially one offered by a government: There was a bounty on his head. Some states offer a bounty for dead coyotes.
Why would we pay him before he does something when someone else could potentially do this before him? Appreciate what you are trying to do and when we get CM7, you'll see my $10.

I would just ask if you guys would look around the site. Most device dev section have a bounty thread for something someone wants and doesnt mind paying for it or paying for the tools the dev needs to start.
This thread was not about giving money to anyone for producing cm7 but helping the atrix team get a photon, so they could port cm7. As I stated before this thread can die since rinehart said he was porting it and had the phone already.
hi guys ive been on xda for a little while now and ive learned alot. i think ive upgraded from a noob somewhat. what i want though is to be a developer not just use u guys work. so in saying that if there is any developer out there that would point me to a source where i can fully understand what make the things you guys develop tick. like learning the parts, files, what does what etc i think u get the point. i wanna get to the point where i can develope great apps, ROMs, disect code all that great stuff. ive tried to add to the cause by buying you guys apps on the market now i want to contribute in a bigger way. just so u know i work full time have a wife a 2yo and a 6 week old baby. i used xda premium. feel free to pm me. thanks in advance for your help.

So start looking at performance tweaks and such, and if you are adding some stuff to pre-compiled APKs then look into smali and the tools you need to use to manipulate it.

Oh boy...I just love it when people start saying
"I'm building a ROM", "I'm doing dev work", "I want to be a recognized developer"
Then I make suggestions and I get "That's too hard", "Do you have a download link" "Cn u teac me hw mak a custm kernel?"
Yet they are totally unwilling to actually invest some time into these things and LEARN it.
Guy's Rome wasn't built in a day, and your ROM isn't going to be either. Look around, read, SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH. Download other people's stuff not just to Kang it, rename/re-post it under your name, but to LEARN, to figure out how it works, so you can UNDERSTAND. This isn't like a store, where you walk in and go "I want one of those, and I'll take one of them, and please get me that, where can I find this, etc, etc." Make little modifications, tweaks on top of tweaks, and keep doing that until it's soemthing new, soemthing different, and THEN post it. But please don't limit yourself, to what is "Easy" or "Comfortable", it's not the way to get anywhere with real development work, much less in life. Put some time into it, and some effort. I really do wish you all luck, but you guys have to stop looking for the easy way to get some quick credit.
[/RANT]
@OP I know of zero performance modifications that you can do in XML, and if you are looking to use someone else's work and use that then start searching and make sure you ask before you use it.

Who are you referring it to? I cooked a rom and I think that I have made the rom. Of you don't have anything to help me then please don't comment. I don't understand smali but I know how to read tutorials and add more features in the rom by smali editing like swipe to remove, 14 toggle etc.

He was being helpful, he is bringing up a attitude that is rampant here on XDA, namely the "cooking" of ROMs. There are WAY too many people who just cook a ROM in a kitchen and claim to have "developed" it. No, you just re-packaged somebody's work, it's not the same thing. I'm not saying it's useless, but it causes way to many "developer" wanna-be's that just aren't interested in actually learning something. Up above we posted suggestions and you responded with

That creates the impression that you aren't wanting to try any other methods for creating ROMs. If you were trying to say that you don't know smali, then maybe you should have said something like,

Not only is that easier to read, but it also communicates much more clearly what you are trying to say/ask. But the way that post is currently worded it makes it sound like you are just wanting to re-package somebody's work and use it as your own.

This is very true, I'm new to porting and I'm starting with porting so I can learn the ins and outs of a rom so at a later time I can learn to develop, even in porting I've had to back smali and make some edits to get things working so sooner or later you will have to as well.. I'm currently reading a begginers guide on java for android.. Google is my best friend and I'm trying to learn as much as I can because I have an idea of my 'ideal' rom.. I can't wait for someone else to do it so I can port it and I know it will never be the way I want.. I'm doing it mainly for myself and I hope one day I can share with others

Best thing to do is get on the good side of a dev and ask them to teach you, I had great help from some of the best devs on XDA, but as above its not something you can just learn easily, I already had a pretty good knowledge of Java and XMLs etc before i got a smart phone lol, If you stick to it then you should get somewhere, Java is a pain in the ass though, editing .smalis is probably the hardest thing for a new dev

Well then you shouldn't have started the thread, I'm not trying to "flame" by any means... but if you wanna add some performance settings and mods I'll give you some advice thewadegeek gave me, take a look at aokps or cm9 or whoever's git repo you feel has some similar features to those you wish to add and start there, you'll get a good understanding of how everything works... at that point it comes to the fine details and making sure everything works.. when you have issues at that point you then can ask for help on getting the fine details fixed since at that time you'll have specific issues that someone can help with
