UPDATE: SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR UCONNECT RADIOS FIXED PROBLEM
If you are having problems with Photon bluetooth connections to a Uconnect radio system and you're not sure if your radio software is the latest version, you can check it here and burn a software update on a CD and install it yourself for free following the detailed directions for your particular radio on this site:

Fixed my problems!
2009 Dodge Journey using Uconnect system with MyGiG Navigation.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
My Photon pairs with the car no problem, and connects when in range. But bluetooth calls are either not made or dropped, and there is no audio on the Photon if the bluetooth call is dropped. This problem was replicated at the Sprint Store by the Sprint Rep in my car. SR paired and connected their Demo unit Photon and had the same issues.
Sprint rep says there are no known bluetooth issues, wait for Motorola to do a maintenance release or maybe that the Photon simply is not compatible with my car.
Dodge dealer says there are no firmware updates for Journey bluetooth or any known issues with Motorola phones in general and advises to wait for Motorola to update their software.
I also have had the no-audio issue during non-bluetooth calls others have experienced. Sprint rep re-activated my Photon, and said Sprint had provisioning issues when my phone was purchased last Sunday, July 31st. We'll see if that occurs again anyhow! I wonder if these are related issues!
UPDATE: Exchanged photon at sprint store...same problem!
Photon bluetooth problem fixed on Dodge avenger
Greetings,
I went to the mygig site (mofv.com/mygig), updated to the latest mygig software release (2.402 Revision B when visited on Sept 5, 2011) and my motorola photon now connects well to my 2008 Dodge Avenger's bluetooth...thanks....

I know Sprint says "soon", but has anyone heard rumors when we can expect the EVDO Rev.A upgrade for our Moguls?
i would like to know as well
I heard November, but that's optimistic. Might not be until Q1 08
According to some SPCS RF engeineers I spoke with at my corporate office the other week, EVDO Rev. A was turned on in my area on August 15th however they said it takes atleast 30 days to optimize the towers. So I'd expect sometime after Sept. 15th.
evdo rev a in your area has nothing to do with a mogul ROM.
Thanks folks. I guess we just need to be patient
Fingers crossed they add some more goodies to the upgrade (enabling GPS would be nice).
No GPS for the Mogul until 08.
hey, where are you getting this info from? I think that the Rev. A update should come out when the HTC Vogue drops for sprint, but I am not sure about the GPS, because Telenav has started selling an external GPS reciever for it(6800).
TomTom doesn't work now?
I read where people use like tomtom and garmin xt with a reciever and works fine? Is it that mogul just doesn't have builtin receiver?

It should have a built in receiver, it just isn't activated (or it may not have a GPS antenna). External receivers work just fine, but having it integrated would be much nicer of course.
i love how everyone seems to think they "know" when it's coming and what to expect. The fact is that there has been no official date or even an "official" estimate as to when we can expect it. Every person you ask has a different answer and everyone swears their source is legit. Well..... times ticking and no one's been correct yet.
On SprintUsers, one user is saying Oct 15th, for both Rev A and GPS to be added in the update.

My Sprint contacts once told me that the RevA update would come via a PRL? I'm not sure how that could be done but from reading here, it sounds like a bunch of bunk.

That is indeed BS.
It has to be through a radio rom upgrade, and those still can't be done OTA.
I suspect it'll be an an entire rom upgrade package that'll also take care of some bugs.
Rev A has been active in KC, Miami FL and a few other locations sense last years super bowl. 6800 is Rev A compatible and a PRL update will give you access to Rev A.
Well a new PRL came out at the end of last week, the version is in my sig, I don't think that's it though...

I simply don't believe that a PRL update is all it needs. It has to be enabled in the Radio, Rev.A has been in some cities for ages and it wouldn't make sense to not have it enabled in the PRL's of the mogul.
PRL is just a prefered roaming list... as an end user, you don't see any benefits. The Mogul (6800) already know which towers are Rev.A, it just doesn't take advantage of it... yet. The upcoming sw will update the radio to take advantage of Rev.A
I agree. I rom update is needed. I've heard from a Sprint rep they had planned on a Rev A. update for the Mogul 9/28 (but that might not be true, we all know how Sprint rep do)

Wrong, how could the PRL not effect the user.
I have this problem on two Atrix phones. They connect fine to the car (Audi S8) bluetooth but as soon as the phone screen sleeps, the signal bars displayed on the car screen don't change; they just freeze. It doesn't matter what the real signal level is, the display on the car screen stays frozen until I push the power button to wake the phone screen and it immediately shows the correct signal bars.I called Motorola support and I was transferred to level 3 and the technician told me he has an Atrix and it has the same problem and there is no known solution. He then suggested that I post this question.
Has anyone seen this or it is just me ending up with two bad phones?
Atrix: Frozen signal bars displayed on car bluetooth
Just curious, I plan to purchase the atrix, so other than the signal bar problem on your A8, can I assume the bluetooth connection works. The reason I ask is because the Atrix is not listed on the compatible phone list on the Audi USA site.

Phone lists from car manufacturers are never up to date. For instance, the Ford Sync phone compatibility lists don't show any of the newer phones either.
I'm not sure what the Audi BT stack can do, but the Atrix with my new Focus will display the address book pictures (as long as they are in the phone book and not just facebook linked), BT music, phone calls, and the MAP stuff for text messages works perfectly.

It's not an A8 it's a s8
Well... I drive a 2008 seat leon, which uses vw-audi bt device, it works fine with al my android phones (sadly not with n900) including the atrix

Yes it works fine, even if no signal bars are shown in the car screen and I receive a call, the phone immediately wakes up and the correct signal is shown.
Off topic but nice ridee

I have the same problem, but different car ... 2011 Subaru WRX with stock clarion head-unit. Some morning when I start the car up, my HU shows 0 bars of cell reception. Turn on the phone, and instantly it goes to full bars.
I haven't actually tried calling yet (usually too tired and already late for work to sit around and test it).
Oh, and I've got a Bell unit with official OTA update, never rooted or anything else.
Even with "speach to text," my phone's 4" screen was too small to safely do much when mounted on the dash of my truck. My iPad's 10" screen was too big to mount on the dashboard. A 7" screen works. Plus, I can carry it on my belt.
My first Samsung Galaxy Tab was so useful that I locked it up twice in the first 4 days with Google Navigate, speach to text with my bluetooth headset to enter web addresses, answer emails, etc. My second one crashed apps like the browser when I overloaded it by multi-tasking.
With Mobile Hotspot enabled on my (EVO 4g) phone, Navigation on the HTC Flyer could be guide me to an address, then the phone would ring, and I'd be driving around in circles. So I took the Flyer back to Best Buy and got an HTC EVO View from Sprint. (I suppose I could have got a MiFi device, but the monthly charge would be higher.)
I used the Rocketfish case I bought for the Flye and, my old Droid X's dash mount (with the help of a hacksaw and some JB Weld) to mount the EVO View just above the radio on my dashboard. I discovered the cab is too noisy for the EVO View's built in microphones at dashboard distance. (And I am kind of kicking myself in the behind for not figuring that out before I took the Flyer back.)
The next step was to sideload the Vlingo app to get around Google Voice Search's lack of Bluetooth support. I paired five different bluetooth headsets to The HTC EVO View. Two of them connected to Media Audio, but none would connect the to the bluetooth headset microphone.
Sprint's Technical Support tried to be helpful. But all they could do was suggest taking it back to the Sprint store. The guy at HTC's Technical Support was able to round-up an EVO View, a HTC Flyer, and several bluetooth headsets. He called me back to tell me he got the same results I got.
So I went to the Sprint store. We paired all of my headsets to the Evo View on display and none connected beyond Media Audio. I pointed out that Sprint's website lists several bluetooth headsets for use with the EVO View. So they paired a couple of the listed headsets and none would connect with anything but Media Audio. (But all of the bluetooth headsets we tried easily paired for microphone input on the keyboard of the Samsung Galaxy Tab.)
Sprint's Customer Retention Department agreed to recommend a disclaimer on their website if my accusation that they are misleading Sprint customers about Bluetooth on the HTC EVO View turns out to be true.
The guy at HTC's Technical Service told me their internal documents indicate the device has A2DP Support (Media Audio), but he found nothing indicating HFP Support (Hands Free Profile). By providing pairing instructions without a disclaimer about the tablet's lack of HFP Support, I believe HTC is misleading customers. Anyway, he promised to get back to me on Thursday with HTC's "response" to this.
So I have two questions: Is anyone else bothered by this?
And for anyone qualified to answer: Is it possible to get Bluetooth HFP (voice) Support on the HTC EVO View / Flyer with an app or a hack?
The Tech guy from HTC called me back yesterday to say they left out HFP (Hands Free Profile) on the American versions of the HTC Flyer and the HTC EVO View 4g. (I'm not sure if the European version of the Flyer is also missing the HFP Profile.)
Nobody replied to this thread, so I assume not that many people care. But it just irritates the heck out of me that neither HTC or Sprint disclosed this anywhere on their websites or in the either of the device's User Manuals.
I do not have enough posts yet to put this request in the proper forum.
Is there any way to get the bluetooth HFP Profile into the device?
I was actually wondering this myself. I tried to hook up my bluetooth to use it with Tango, now I know why it didnt work. Hopefully they pit out an update that fixes this.
Sent from my HTC EVO View. 7" of 4g fury!
I have the UK 3g version and it also lacks the HFP profile.
I rooted the flyer and tried to dig into the system files to see if there is a way to enable this. nothing to date worked (maybe because we don't have perm root with nonad unlock so my hacks didnt actually work).
It is indeed annoying they chose to leave this profile out. many VOIP apps can use this BT profile to make *proper* voip calls using the mic on the headset.
There is a "phone" ROM floating around this forum for S-off devices that enables this BT profile. I am hoping that once we get S-off somehow we would be able to port that profile in.
Thanks for the replies.
As I mentioned, the Technical Support guy I talked to at HTC took a couple of days to get back to me because he wanted to find out HTC's position on the HFP profile on their tablets. I got the strong impressiom they are not against supporting HFP, they just did not think it was necessary.
He stressed to me that even though HTC will not respond to posts in their own support forum, or even manage the forum by moving posts to where they should be (which I think is incredibly stupid), their technical support people (including the people who make decisions about stuff like this) watch the forum closely. As naieve as it sounds, he told me the best way to get the HFP bluetooth profile included in an update is to post about the problem in their forum. He said if enough people respond, it will get their attention.
As open and helpful as both of the HTC Technical Support people I talked to were, I still believe both HTC and Sprint are both guilty of false advertising and misleading customers by by not disclosing that bluetooth only works with media audio on these devices. I still intend to look into filing a complaint with the FCC, and my State's Attorney General. My hope is it will be easier for them to activate this profile on these devices than defend the complaints and potentially revise their websites and User Manuals, etc.
And, as I said before, I sure hope someone here can figure out how to make the HFP bluetooth profile work before I have to make a decision to spend a lot of money on a wired (noise cancelling) car kit or replace the EVO View with a (in my opinion) very inferior Samsung Galaxy tab.
But this is not new. HTC Flyer, all versions worldwide lack of Phone capabilities, and that include sall related items and specs such as the Bluetooth protocol for handsfree talk.
We still don't know why they took this decission, i don't think it was that expensive to include those items...
Any one knows if Honeycomb is able to handle phone calls?
This has now been resolved. I was able to enable Headset / handsfree profile once i got S-Off.
Please see my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185688
Thanks.
HTC flyer
hi,

Came from a TBolt with no issues. Called VZ and inquired why 4g hotspot is worthless on the Razr. Was told this s a known issue with the Razr using hotspot on certain sites. Yahoo, iTunes, etc were listed.
I can turn hotspot on, connect to my iPad but ant download a 45 minute show from iTunes in a timely manner.
Anyone hear of this? VZ stated an update is in the works and should be released in Feb.
Is anyone else having problems maintaining the Bluetooth connection in their vehicle. When I delete and repair it works fine once I turn off the car and return later there is absolutely no bt connection.
I use my verizon max all the time with multiple bluetooth to fm transmitters. Not one issue.
*I note I have the verizon one because it seems maybe the us ones have a little better implementation of things than other versions
OP,
i responded to you on the sprint forums..
ive a sprint one max and i have no issues. it behaves just as the htc one did.
what phone did you have prior? did it not have any issues?
do you have an aftermarket system or factory?
rooted?
what apps are you trying to stream from?
how about making phone calls, can you at least do that?
or does the phone not even show the relationship in the BT page with your car and the one max?
Previously I had an Samsung note 2 with no Bluetooth issues. It is a factory navigation/blue tooth in a 2008 Mitsubishi outlander xls. It works fine when I delete it and pair for the first time . After that initial pair happens it stops connecting. I am not streaming just trying to do Bluetooth calls.
