Now that we have root, can we get a Rosie that has landscape and a customizable dock?
You might get sense 2.0 since no sense 3.0 device has a keyboard as far as I know, plus sometimes there is glitches, I recommend you to get use to it or use another launcher like launcher pro

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there were no images created for a landscape view. So it would take a long time for someone to make every image needed for landscape from scratch. If you ask me, the likelihood of getting a landscape 3.0 is slim to none

Does anyone know how to modify Rosie/sense to get the zoom transitions to look like the stock launcher rather than the boring swipe they do?
Kaoslengendary rom as the zoom transitions, I've tried taking Rosie.apk from that and putting it on my plainjane rom but ruins the phone/apps buttons.
Thanks!
Use a different launcher such as launcherpro
Wait until there are more and better versions of ROMs with Espresso Sense. That version of Sense has zoom transitions.

Thanks for your input homewmt but launcherpro is not sense ui, as I stated in my original question I am looking to modify Rosie/sense to do the zoom transitions. I like launcherpro but it will not let me use the sense widgets.

I'll have to keep my eye out for the Espresso Sense! Thanks
I am able to get sense to do the zoom effects by putting the rosie.apk from the kaoslegendary rom, however that hides my phone button and has some other ui side effects. If he was able to get it to work in the kaoslegendary rom, seems like there should be a way to get it to work with plainjane or one of the stock root roms. I might just have to wait for the Espresso Sense.
There is one ROM in this forum that uses Espresso Sense. Search for XenEXP. It's currently on Rev7 and has some bugs and is not as fast as the fastest Sense ROM I've used (xtrSense3.1), but it looks amazing. You'll get zoom transitions and then some. Rev7 is a bit outdated. It's from May. Rev8 is hopefully coming soon. If the developer can fix the bugs and make it as fast as xtrSense, I'm switching to it.

I'll definately check that out, thanks for the pointer!
Also in Evil Eris 4.0 if you turn on the Live Wallpapers it'll turn on the OpenGL and 3d patches and whatnot which will enable zoom transitions.
The newest rosie has the zoom transition effect. I know koaslegendary, fresh rom, evil eris 4, ZenEXP, and maybe a few more have the latest rosie.
Is there a way to change the right side dock button? I'd much rather it go to text messages than the "Personalize" screen....anyone know how to change it?
Blah! HTC Sense... I am disgusted with it as well.
Best bet would probably be getting a third-party launcher (Launcher Pro / ADW Launcher).

I'm a Launcher Pro junkie. Love it. Sense on the other hand is definitely a love/hate thing for me. Some of its features are really slick, but many of them just get in the way. I too would like to change that personalize button. Need to look into it more closely.
It won't matter...once a CM7 gingerbread build comes out for this thing, I'm there and goodbye Sense.
Agreed. Once CM7 is ported and I have my TB rooted... there is no turning back to this bloated, stock, Sense 2.2 garbage.
I've always loved LauncherPro. I have the Plus version. But this is my first HTC phone, so I'm using it stock for a bit first just to get a taste of what Sense is all about for a while.
I don't mind it too much. Runs smooth, but has so much bloatware attached to it.
If I could customize the dock buttons around and hide icons in the app tray, I think I'd be fine with Sense.
I have seen this done in some roms but I am pretty sure you have no shot without root. I think I had it in Mikfroyo but it was called modified Rosie or Rosie Options. Something like that.
Btw...mikfroyo is an EVO from under the Evo Dev section

New sense is nice actually. I like it so far...better than sense 2.0..
Many of us like to use home replacement apps to have more customization. But many of us whom are htc fanboys don't wanna let go of our sense widgets. They do make sense after all. So with the advent of these popup dock apps being on the market like dock4droid i thought hmmm maybe there can be a Rosie dock app that can be created as an overlay to the stock htc Rosie dock! Something that is themeable and looks just like the sense Rosie dock except that it has more app shortcuts embedded on it. Say like 3-5 app shortcuts that can revolve like the android rotary lockscreen that scrolls through different user defined shortcuts like launcher pro/ go launcher. That way we can keep our amazing goodness that sense 2.1 has to offer but having the convenience of using more shortcuts on the dock that home replacements offer. Has anyone else thought of this? And should this have been in the android general forum for more visibility? I'm not a developer btw. Just an enthusiast. Whaddayall think?

Sounds like a nice idea for those sense-lovers. As for me, I don't much care for sense or the widgets, but would be willing to give this a try.
I originally thought sense was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen back in 1.5. After the step up to 2.0 I perfered the look of AOSP with other adjustments. I absolutely hate the dialer, contacts, and several other aspects of sense though. I would do anything to get it removed from my phone completely. I will rejoice to the heavens once CM7 is ported over to this wonderful piece of hardware.
Its funny to me that the way you feel about sense now is the exact same way I feel about aosp. I like the way aosp performs over sense. Feels much lighter and easier on the cpu. But I like the look and the added functionality that htc brings to android on their devices. Perhaps if there would be a wonderfully themed metamorph and some htc themed dialer and contact apps available on the market I'd totally be on aosp. Since there are all these developers out here banking off of htc themed apps ie flip clocks, widgets and home replacements, I don't see why the htc corporation just not turn their famous ui into a highly advanced home replacement app! And/or convert their famous widgets into android widgets for sale on the market. I'd be willing to pay spb 3d shell money for all of that. They can definitely bank off of selling their ui to those that don't buy their devices and to Those who buy their devices, root and flash aosp on their devices. It can be a win/ win situation for them. And btw, they would kill any home replacement app on the market right now if they were to release a home replacement app based on sense3.0!

The most themeable launcher with a doc that I've seen is Go Launcher
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex
Go launcher isn't very sense like though if that matters. It's more like vanilla android or sort of like touchwiz on samsung phones.
With LauncherPro Plus and the theme support of widgets you can pretty much have a sense like ui.
Yea but I'm not talking about an idea for a home replacement appz I'm talking about just a dock replacement app, or dock overlay. Something that is put on top of the default dock to be used with the current rom and can be used alongside the proprietary widgets. Launcher pro is the best home replacement app to mimic sense but sense 2.1 and the upcoming 3.0 has surpassed launcher pro. The developer can updated it to have much of those features but who knows if he will and when he will. A simple dock overlay with a few enhancements can save app storage space and be easier on the cpu. I've noticed when I have more than 3 home replacement apps installed, sense starts to get a bit laggy. It would be nice to be able to still experience sense entirely but with a few added enhancements.

Problem with launchers those widgets are bundled with them on android is they're generally not sharable. App independent ones like pandora don't have that problem, but the launcher ones seem to be be tied into the launchers and wont play nicely. People have ported out or cloned ones from launchers, but I am guessing the actual ones are just too tied to the launcher code to be standalone.
True but the idea I'm talking about is not a home replacement launcher. I'm talking about a dock overlay. Something that can be used with the default launcher, widgets etc. Look up dock4droid on the market. The idea stemmed from that. Specifically what I'd like to see is a replacement Rosie dock that covers the default dock with extra app shortcuts that are scrollable like launcher pros dock.

Hi all!
Sometimes, when I switch from a Landscape app (a Video or a Web Page, for example) to the Sense desktop the sense widgets start to look like like streched, but specialy the Sense clock looks like the landscape sense clock of the Desire Z (for example), it's like the whole Sense want to go Landscape, but something is forcing it
Does this happens to anyone here or is a bug of my phone? there's any way to put the sense desktop in Landscape?
PD: If you don't understand me just look at the clock on the screnshot I attached
That's an occasional problem with the Froyo Sense ROM, I have it too!
There is no known way to auto-rotate Sense's launcher. I don't know if some internal files were meant to be hidden, applied to the HTC Legend, or is just there for all Froyo Sense phones at the time of release, but you can interpret that our Legends might have been planned to accomodate a slide-out keyboard, as well as a WiMAX radio.
I'm not sure why, but something tells me our phone is meant to be used in landscape mode. I want to give it a try, but not sure what the best way to go about it is. I am rooted and currently running HYFR OnlyOne rom. Great rom and I love the S3 add ons. But I have seen the hybrid rom has a tablet mode which looks like it would make landscape use much easier. But does it maintain the goodies like S-Memo and the use of the S-pen? Would it be a good idea just to use another launcher, like Go or maybe VTL, as it seems pretty landscape oriented?
I would prefer to be able to do it and maintain all the usability of the phone. Any suggestions?
The most basic way to add landscape functionality is with a new launcher. I use apex which allows me to landscape it and allows for additional icons on home screen, dock etc through its options menu. As far as I'm aware hybrid offers tablet support with s pen functionality. The only ones who don't are the aokp and cm9 ROMS. If you want full tablet & s pen support then hybrid is the way to go

I am currently using The Hybrid RCVI and you still retain everything, everything, everything. The only difference is you flash an additional zip which contains the 4.0 ics apps (gmail, calendar, phone, messaging etc) because the stock touchwiz ones don't work with such a low dpi. But you should try it, it's so amazing. All s-pen functionality still works (double tap for s memo, screenshot, back, menu, home) and s note. Can't go wrong.
Oh my GOSH, i just remembered, hahahaha, you can lock your phone on landscape mode. turn on auto rotation, then turn it to the side so it flips, without rotating turn off the auto rotation and it stays in landscape DD so now you can keep everything you want or your current setup if you like it and just do that. hope it helps.
I actually just started using the phone in landscape only. I use Apex Launcher and lock the launcher in landscape mode. I then use an app called Ultimate Rotation Control which allows for per app orientation control. This allows me to keep the phone locked in landscape while having apps like Phone flip to portrait when I need to dial. I'm however using CM9 in tablet mode because I like the AOSP feel and in my opinion, AOSP tablet mode looks much nicer than TouchWiz tablet mode. You can still use the S-pen as a standard stylus with CM9 but it loses the rest of its functionality. I don't use S-pen features all that much anyway so it's not a huge loss. If you decide to use an AOSP-based rom, there is a port of the basic S memo features that was just posted in the Themes and Apps section which is cool for basic notes/drawing. Like previously stated though, you can use Hybrid to keep the S-pen and TouchWiz things.

Cm9 at 213 tablet mode is like the most perfect thing if you want your not in landscape. Everything looks so much nicer

I think I will give Hybrid and maybe CM9 a try. Is there more then one CM9 rom?
Also does anyone know if boot manager works with the note? I used to use it on my evo, but a google search didn't return many results for if it works with the note.
Is there a good guide for installing hybrid? The OP seems kind of vague. I don't even see where it mentions having to flash the additional apps. And the part about installing apps to the SD card seems ominous. Any help? Maybe I just missed it. It's late and I am tired, lol
