Before S-off my 3vo would automatically switch over to a Verizon tower while roaming, now after S-off Verizon towers can no longer validate my 3vo and wont roam on that system? Is there a fix for this or is it going to stay like this?

Call Sprint and tell them your voice roaming isnt working. I had to do it yesterday. Hopefully you dont get an idiot like I did the first time.
Ok thanks I will give that a try.

i have so far gotten 3 idiots
sorry but do you mind telling what for roaming is needed?
you can internet/ 3g without roaming right?
what is it for?
He's saying his roaming is borked, I assume he ran an update of his prl, when he makes a call he probably gets a message from Verizon saying his phone is not registered. Sprint will probably want to do a re activation.
You roam on Verizon when a sprint signal is not available, which is quite common for me.
Also check your settings in the wireless and networks section and see if your set to automatic and not home only, and roaming guards are turned off. S-off does do something to the phone authentication so its up to sprint to fix it on their end.
doesnt roaming cost money?
meh i have everywhere connection to my provider,
99% coverage.
I just rooted a few days ago and can't call on verizon either, calling sprint tonight.
use sprint chat, makes things alot easier and faster
tried chatting 3 times, getting error 1012, and so far no one can tell me to do anything except pull the battery or update the profile
try just making a call while ytou are not roaming, you will most likely get and error 16, and if you hold long enough you wil;l be routed directly to sprint to the security dept. who will fix your problem
I just got off with Sprint chat and said:
I am getting an error 16 and need an HRL refresh

They refreshed my settings and it worked fine afterwards.
Is there any way I can force the phone to go into roaming so that I can see if I have that same issue?

There's an app for that, roam control, but its kind of shady, it dosent work when you need it most. Obviously you don't have a working signal and no data, it has to check for a license every time before you can use it. So if you don't have data and need to roam, your sol until the phone itself decides to roam.
Trying to get fixed... Said I had to be off phone, what did they refresh?
Roam Control doesn't seem to work, at least for me.

It works for me, I just need a good solid data signal and hope it passes the license check.

It shouldn't check the license every time you run the app...it doesn't for most people. I'm trying to figure out why it does this for a small number of phones, hope to have some type of correction soon. Thanks! -MrGreg

Can you tell me how to get around the license check error? That's the biggest gripe I have with the app.

I sent you a PM, don't want to hijack the thread
Lately I have noticed my phone going into roaming mode a lot. Sitting in my house today it went into roam. I live in town and get a good 4G signal when I turn it on. I should not be roaming. Here and there running around town I go into roaming too. If I try to make a call it tells me welcome to Verizon this account can not ne authenticated. it won't let me make a call. Now I know we roam on verizons towers but if i can't make a call when i actually need to because I am roaming I am gonna be pissed. If i try to send a text it gives me an error 64 as well. I have been rooted for about a month or longer and just started having problems.
My thought is it is some sort of security thing sprint has been doing to crack down on rooted devices that are forced to roam. I am not forcing mine into roam and have no intention to. Is there any suggestions I can try to keep from going into roam so much.
I live around Austin tx. Anyone else notice more roaming lately?

I had the same exact problem and searched for a solution for months. Call sprint, ignore everything they try to do to fix it and request an hlr refresh (or reload, reset, etc....). It's the only solution I found and is very easy provided you get the right rep. I've also heard its easier doing this over sprint chat on their website. Hope this helps!
There is a thread in the general section that has a few prls up. I had to switch mine a few times to get good signal back.
I know there are a few towers down in my area because of the storm. Sprint is taking their sweet time fixing them as well. I called a few times to submit a ticket and they always say they will call me back within 24-72 hours and never do. I always have to call back. Really bad customer service if you ask me! Sprint's network right now is a joke! It can't compare to Verizon or ATT in my area.

What area are u in and which one worked best for u
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I live in Fort Leonard Wood. 1115 worked best for me.
I have been having this problem as well. After about 2 weeks of constant phone calls to Sprint, multiple CHLR resets, and even an exhange, the new 1 does the same thing. It will work for a few days, then I'll go into a roaming area, and whamo, the Verizon lady tells me my phone cannot be authenticated! Funny thing is my original 4G, never roams in these areas, and when it does, it roams perfectly well...
So... Coming from an epic, live in the sticks and have a few questions about my signal, or lack of... First off, the evo doesn't get as strong of a signal as my epic did. I'm fine with that, I dig the phone and can deal with it but when I leave home I've got about 7 miles that I get no signal at all, the epic got one to two bars in this area, I need to use roam control to pick up service in this stretch. Shouldn't it automatically roam when signal is available if I have no service with sprint there? Doesn't make sense to me that cell signal is available but I have to force my phone to use it.
Also noticed that I'll randomly, but briefly, lose signal at home with my airave...

Are the PRLs the same?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Make sure you have roaming set to automatic, instead of sprint only.
Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Roaming
Also, make sure you check the appropriate boxes for domestic voice/data, and international voice/data.
use prl 11115
report success
profit ????????
I didn't check the PRLs, I have updated it though.
Roaming is automatic
Kinda leery to change the PRLs with the amount of people that seem to be getting targeted lately.
I'm a business owner, need my phone, also need it to have signal...

I saw a PRL a while ago that was for Sprint business accounts. That might solve your problems. I'll look for the thread later. Packing for my first apartment at the moment

That's for the verizon prl that some members are getting heat for and some have even been terminated for using the verizon prl. The sprint prl's are fine to use. Basically its a hit and miss kind of thing, you have to find one that works for you. For me I just keep all of them on my sd card and I use them when I have to. If my wife and I are going to her parents houe for the weekend I have to change my prl because with the latest prl for sprint I would get no service there. So I swap to the 60678 prl and then I have service. When were headed back home I just update the prl and it reverts back to the latest.
Here's the list of prl
http://team-nocturnal.com/forums/showthread.php?41-Collection-of-PRL-s
Try a few and see how they work out. You can always go back. Hope this helps
Edit here's the thread on the verizon

Look for PRL 11115. That's the sprint business one, where you can roam on verizon's 3g, but it will default to Sprint's towers first.
00001 is the PRL where you only roam on verizon's 3G, and this is what is getting users kicked off the network.
Ok so not that this is a surprise to anybody but in South Florida we are without LTE and are limited to 3G and WiFi and while WiFi works perfectly fine, 3G is beyond horrible... I'm pulling in max speeds of 30kbps, which almost makes me want to get sick lol... So my question is, to solve this problem is the only fix flashing a different radio..?? I hope not because I'm on the new OTA (thanks Sprint salesman) and from what I have read the new OTA is not ready to be S-OFF'd yet meaning I can't flash a new radio even if I wanted to... I've changed LTE/CDMA to just CDMA in settings, I've updated PRL and Profile, I've tried diff ROM's and they all have the same output, ****ty 3G service...So anyways, I searched for a similar thread but nobody specifically asked this question, thanks..
Unless others you know with Sprint are getting better speeds it's all on their network. They do advertise a minimum of 600kb/s though so if you call and complain enough they'll credit your account for it.
And if you have the OTA update then you would have the new radios already.

SFLA speeds have always sucked for me on Sprint. Didn't much matter what phone I used. I am in Miami every week usually in the airport area. If I get 100k down I am outside doing jumping jacks.

Try to change your settings to CDMA only for system settings, reboot the phone and see what happens.
Dont change to CDMA ONLY then do a profile / prl update. Other forums are reporting that when they do a profile update its reverting the device back to CDMA/LTE..
For me staying on CDMA only is helping my data speeds.

Thanks for the tip, lemme try it out..
So here goes...
I'm on travel for the holidays, and we arrive in a backwoods Vermont town, then suddenly I lose cell signal, no biggie, this is usually expected in Vermont, but since we bring along our Wilson 45dbm cell booster, I usually regain my signal to full bars as soon as we turn it on (no matter where we are). I just thought that maybe the tower in the area was down from the snow we just got.
I thought nothing of it, until when we arrived at out destination and then I notice my phone still had no signal. At my suggestion a few years ago, I convinced the family we visited to invest in a Wilson home booster, which my wife currently has no problem picking up a signal from.
So this got me thinking, well maybe my PRL file was outdated/updated and the cell tower is not in my list. So I notice my wife has version 60690, and I had version 21090. Wow this must be really really old I thought, so I followed instructions using QPST and upgraded mine to the same version as my wife's. Still nothing, no signal what-so-ever.
Then I noticed that Sprint is upgrading their network and this meant that the newest version numbers were in the range of what I had on my phone originally, and now I think someone said 21092 is the absolute latest for the Evo 3D. So with this said, maybe I need to update my PRL to 21092, problem is I can't without a signal, and so far no one has posted it on any site yet. Anyone have the latest PRL file that I could try?
Then today I got to thinking that maybe the problem started at the car ride with the booster. Did my booster output too much power that it fried my radio? The car booster uses a stick-on antenna, not the direct to phone connector cable, so I don't see how it could have over saturated the radio, but now I am second guessing that notion. Or maybe, could my phone have a different radio than my wife's phone? I'm sure my evo3d was working the last time I was here in Vermont, but I'm not 100% certain it was the same phone.
So with this said, how can someone verify that the radio is shot? I've tried entering field trial mode using ##33284# to see if there is even a signal dbm level being reported, which it seems to see something because it does fluctuate.
Attached are some photos. Thanks!
For prls on the 3d I run the sprint corporate prls. I believe the latest we have on xda is 12126. The benefit of these is that when roaming it gives full 3g on the Verizon network as opposed to your 21xxx prl that only gives 1x. These prls I believe are distributed to customers in corporate accounts with sprint. I've been running 12124 with no problem s, I just haven't updated yet. I'm pretty sure there's a thread in the general section on this. I'm on tapatalk or I'd link you. Anyways, I doubt you fried anything... I've loaded the prl you did before and it didn't pull any signal for me either on my 3d... I have no clue what the difference is though.

I have no idea what your problem is but just wanted to say that I love the title of your thread. Sounds like a country and western song to me.
ramjet73
I forgot to add that this is a US Cellular tower that shows up as roaming on the sprint network. It's my understanding that prl files list roaming towers only, so it would seem to imply that something is wrong with the prl file. But then why does my wife's phone work when mine doesn't using the same prl. Anyhow, maybe I will try a corporate prl for giggles, just to see if it still even works. Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it soon and let you know!
Oh and thanks for the country song title idea, I should have had more fun with that one!

Thanks p3tr0s, I think I used the corporate PRL you suggested and after QPST rebooted the phone, I still had no signal. But somewhere in between going into my ICS >Settings>Mobile networks and toggling all the Domestic/Roaming/Guards and setting them back (even though this still did not give me signal), then going into >Settings>Usage and toggling Mobile Network suddenly my phone finally connect to the cell tower. Immediately after a good connection, I did a PRL update (in >Settings>System updates), and now it is using the latest 21092 PRL and it is still working just fine, so now I'm totally confused. I'm thinking that the issue was resolved somehow with the toggles. Even though I had tried toggling the Usage mobile setting and a couple of the data options on previous PRL's, I hadn't tried toggling all of them in the Mobile networks area as I did this time. But, then again, this is the first time I have gotten a signal, so maybe the combination of the corporate PRL worked is some weird way. Thanks!
