I just followed the instructions for unlocking my bootloader and now every time my phone starts to reset, all that happens is it loads a bit, then a blinking red light goes on, then it starts all over again... It says that I am unlocked. ATT motorola atrix 1.83 gingerblur

I had this. It's a soft brick and just flash 1.8.3 or any froyo sbf (1.2.6,1.5.7,1.8.3) with rsd and voila!
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! It worked perfectly!!!! Now I am going to go and find other ways that I can mess with my phone that could possibly brick it again!
P.S. Am I still unlocked? The unlocked thing went way...

unfortunately no since you flashed the official stock firmware. Just flash the unlock file with rsd again and once rebooted it should show up the unlocked text, no fastboot required

I know that no one will probbly be able to help but i had a TMOUS HTC HD2 and believed that i have bricked this phone.
While i was attempting to have the Core Cell ROM for HD2, everything was going along fine ( i had the black screen with the HTC and the bar on my phone's screen and even the "you hacked it" and "successfully done notifications" ), when all of a sudden, i get the software update failed and the screen with the red, green, blue, and white stripes.
I believe whle performing an HSPL, i picked the 2.08 HSPL. don't know if that had anything to do with it and also the phone is heating up.
So give me the bad news, fellas, i'm screwed, right?

Naw man. You're fine. Take the battery out, and restart, then flash the ROM. The Red, Green, Blue, White screen is called the Bootloader, it comes on when flashing new stuff onto the phone. You NEED HSPL, so you DON'T brick your phone haha.

thanks for the quick reply, dude. but because i'm such an idiot i may need some help here. when the battery is out and you say restart, what exactly do you mean?!? i've taken the battery out, tried performing a factory reset and still wind up with the bootloader screen. i know and sorry for being stupid but any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Since you have the bootloader have you tried going ahead and flashing a new ROM and Radio?

he meant simply take your battery out, put it back in and boot up.
if you can get to bootloader you can 1- install hspl and then 2- install a new rom. when you go to bootloader, does it say 2.08hspl or 2.080000?
I just decided to reboot it and now what happens when I try to turn it on, the boot screen flashes, then when it gets to the green logo, it just starts fading to black, my LED flashes red for a while, this happens a few times, then it just goes back into a loop of starting over
What do I do?
sbf and then try it all again?

Flash 1.83 sbf., and then re-root with gingerbreak. Sounds like something went a miss in the updating process.

I followed the instructions to unlock the bootloader root the phone and install gingerbread using this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
My phone is not stuck at a black screen all the time I don't see boot screen or anything, it seems to boot up fine though.
I am able to get into RSD and fastboot mode.
Ideally, I would like to go back to factory froyo so I can do the default upgrade to gingerbread.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

How it happened? After flashing a SBF by RSD? Did you were bootloader unlocked before?

There is no fix. You are hard Bricked.
Insurance will cover, AT&T store MIGHT if you say it happened when installing gingerbread update I guess.
The reason I was asking was due to the2dcour stated:
the2dcour said:
yes but you will get 0x1000 error. Don't freak out, it will let you boot in to fasboot and unlock. In fact, if you boot directly into fastboot after flash you wont even seen the 0x1000 probably. This has worked for multiple people that flashed 2.3.4 official sbf or official OTA 2.3.4 . As always, not guaranteeing anything for your specific phone.

BUT THAT APPLIED FOR A SPECIFIC PROCEDURE AFTER FLASHING BY RSD 2.3.4 WITH PUDDING SBF
IF YOU FLASHED A MOTO SBF WITHOUT PUDDING AFTER BEEN "UNLOCKED" SO THEN YES IS A HARD BRICK

Well, there are enough warnings which say not to downgrade from 2.3.4. Except the SBF with Pudding. And if you ignore those warnings, that's what you get.
Sorry dude, it is your own fault. Phone is bricked....

Nope. No fix. Sorry
so now wht can i do............ can i claim to motorola warranty...... they can solved it............. or no 1 can solved it...........
The warranty "should' cover it.
But like everyone already said there are multiple warnings not to downgrade once using the official 2.3.4 update for this very reason. If I recall correctly it even said so in the text message I received that informed me of the update.
My Atrix has the same situation, someone find a solution?
There is no solution for a hard brick.

You have a soft brick and can recover. I don't have time to find the links for you right now, but search for soft brick solutions.
You have a very common error with a common solution.

Customer brought in X10i locked to Orange-UK and running firmware 1.6
I used flashtool to flash 2.1 rom and after flash completed, phone boots to SE logo (writing) and then is stuck.
I have tried updating using both SEUS and PCCompanion. Both say that they have updated the phone successfully but phone still does not start.
After flashing with PCC boot process was same problem as before except I briefly saw an image of a camera and a blue arrow pointing down to a phone.
After flashing with SEUS, the phone does not start at all. When I press the power button I see red led flash 3 times repeatedly.
I thought maybe battery has died, so I have connected to mains charger.
Now the phone seems flashes red led once (repeatedly) for about 2 minutes, then led changed to solid green for about 2 minutes, then powers-up to SE logo/writing and camera/blue arrow image briefly, before repeating the process again.
I am not sure if the phone is charging or not? (or maybe battery is not even depleted?)
I am trying to unlock the phone for my customer using SETool or (Omnia?) but both say that 1.6 is not supported and handset must be flashed to 2.1
Seems like I have fallen at the first hurdle
I have searched the www and read forums and tutorials etc and have been at this for nearly 7 hours solid now
Please help.
Thanks.

The red flashing light sounds like battery issue! Do you have another x10 to charge the battery?
Have you rooted the device and unlocked the bootlaoder?
If so and you can enter xrecovery and flash a custom ROM wolfs for example?
Simply power off the device unplug USB cable and just press back button repeatedly while it starts up!

Hi,
Thank You for replying.
You are absolutely right about the battery/flashing lights. I have charged the battery externally and the red flashing light issue has gone.
The phone now powers up to SE writing, then camera and blue arrow, then back to SE writing and stops.
The phone was fully working on Orange-UK before I flashed it. It looked as though everything on it was stock and it had never been flashed or updated ever.
I have not tried to root it or unlock bootloader (Im not even sure what unlocking bootloader means?)
What can I try next to bring this back to life?
Should I just keep trying to flash different roms?
Maybe I should try to flash stock Orange-UK firmware?
Thanks for your help so far, and look forward to your reply

help
Sorry I dont mean to double post or annoy anyone but please can someone help me with this.
Thats nearly another day and still I am stuck at SE logo/writing
I have flashed 5 or 6 different roms now, all with same end result.
I think I am missing something somewhere?
Do I need to upgrade/downgrade kernel?
and what is usb debugging setting? I set it to 'on' when phone was working at the very start, but I think now it is off.
Do I need this to be on before flashing? and if so, how do i do this if the phone is not booting?
Thanks.
MK5
You will need the phone to boot up to put debugging on! This needs to be on to root the device! It wont root without it. It makes sense why your stuck at se logo im sure if you flash the wrong firmware to the phone it wont boot up flash the orange firmware 2.1 or 2.3. British orange version then root using flashtool and use the program in the link above to unlock the sim
Let me know if it works?!!
Good luck!!

Thanks m8, I'll give that a go. Battery has just died again, so giving it another charge just now.
Just a point to notw? - When i update the phone in SEUS, the process tells me that the update has completed successfully, but phone doesnt boot, and if I connect to SEUS again, it tells me that an update is available and this goes 'round in circles'
Is it possible that the phone somehow isnt actually getting flashed properly?
anyways will try the Ora-UK firmware first.
Should I look for stock 1.6 as that is what wason it originally? or can i go right ahead with 2.1?
Also where can I download these from? The only links I found for 2.1 orange were dead (megaupload)
Thanks for all your help so far m8. I appreciate it
star
m8 you are a star
I got firmware from omnius and unzipped and made a couple of modifications (as per tutorial on the site)
flashed my newly created ftf file and the phone booted
Back to running stock 1.6
I need to make sure I do things properly this time.
Can you give me any pointers as to the correct tutorials to follow?
I just want to unlock the phone so it will accept a Vodafone sim card.
Not too bothered about debranding and custom roms etc.
Thanks.
