Just got my e mail which means we can directly develop in 3D!
We at HTCdev wanted to reach out to you to let you know that our developer web portal - HTCdev.com has formally been launched today. Located at the same URL you registered at earlier this summer, HTCdev.com is designed to provide a central, online location to host content while also serving as an outlet for developer engagement and growth.
HTCdev.com will be the home of tools and resources that are part of HTC OpenSense. HTC OpenSense is a framework encompassing all available HTC SDKs as well features that will be offered in the future. This framework will allow you as a developer to harness software and hardware innovation on HTC devices to develop more richly integrated mobile applications and experiences. The HTC S3D SDK, which allows developers to create applications that directly use the 3D functionality on the HTC EVO 3D from Sprint is available today, as well as the HTC Pen SDK which provides further customized solutions using HTC Scribe technology. Documentation featuring instructions on how to access the SDK's are included on HTCdev.com as well.
The site also provides access to kernel source codes for HTC products and will be the future home for instructions on how to unlock bootloaders.
Tons of new info

Yeah I just got that email too! That's good news
My question is ...is this going to help us get an aosp kernel \Rom for our 3d's?
Congrats!
Congrats ladies and gents. I'm really excited to see what you come up with!

Very cool! Can't wait!
The new Android Market will be rolling out in the coming weeks to Android 2.2 and higher phones around the world. You don’t need to do anything - the update is automatic on supported phones. If you’re in the U.S., you’ll also be able to download the Videos app, rent movies, and buy books once you receive the new Android Market.

What's up XDA community? I just joined the forums today and thought I would get your opinions on my review of the HTC EVO 3D. I am the CEO/Owner of TheGamerAccess.com and published this review a few days before the release thanks to a review unit from the Sprint team. The link to the review is below. Look forward to hearing what you guys think!

Good review! there will be similar specs, but no other with 3D and the htc brand in a while(@ least in 2011)

Nicely done. Your review fairly well parallels my experience with the device over the past several weeks. I see so many people complain about this or that, but I must be lucky to get one without defects (that I've noticed so far). This phone is definitely an upgrade from the EVO Shift (though I do miss the hardware keyboard).

This is the best phone I own, I really like the speed, feel and look of the phone, people at work also like my phone, since i bought it I have received several nice comments on the phone, and several coworkers have bought one for themselves. Your review is very well done, and bookmarked, thank you for your post.
You claim to have tested Green Hornet, and yet this was posted days before HTC released a fix for HTC Watch allowing the movie to be used....?

Hey wildcat. That is correct. The issue did not impact everyone and while I have no way of proving it to you now, I was able to watch Green Hornet before its release without any problems.
Great review you did. One thing worth a mention is that some of the bloatware is (sort of) uninstable. It still stays on your phone but it takes it out of your app drawer and, I believe, it won't autostart anymore. I'm pretty sure most or all new Sprint phones will be the same here on out.
How about you tell your Sprint Comrads S-Off

I would just leave the review the way it is, no need in promoting rumors, no one has s -off so no need in promoting something that no one has.
I agree, decent review. Only thing I disagree on is the camera button. I could have been well implemented, but ends up being a waste of space. maybe they will update the software in the future to improve on the focus response time when using the camera button.
see my comments here.

I know I'm probably being overly negative, but why does it seem like HTC has completely dropped the ball with the 3D features on our device?? An app like this would be awesome. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you would get it to work with the Evo 3D unless LG open sourced their code. The only other thing I can think of is if something like chainfire added 3D support for the Evo 3D.

I agree with you that HTC seems like they stopped developing for the 3D features. It's kinda sad. We now have to rely on our awesome devs to pick it up and make stuff. But it would be pretty bad ass to see this ported over

Why would HTC be the one to 'continue development'?
HTC has already satisfied the expectations of the EVO3D project on their end.
The function of the 3D technology, as far as HTC's concerned, was to "Sell a ****-ton of cellphones."
They've accomplished their goal. They've opened htcdev, and released the code for developers who want to mess around with programming 3D applications.
I don't see HTC spending too much more time 'pushing the envelope' in 3D development for this phone. They've done their job, this project was a success, and they have way too many other handsets coming out all the time.
Just my 2 cents.

HTC dropped the ball because it was really just a gimmick to begin with...the real beauty of the device was the specs on it...not the 3D functionality imo...and even then, i really wish Qualcomm would step up the game with CPU architecture...Samsung's Exynos is going to eat us Evo3d users alive :[

Nope. The framework is different for the 3D on the Evo and the LG. You would have to rewrite the thing with HTC's framework to make it work.
Open any game up in the app and it will try to split the foreground and background and recombine both in 3D
In my experience converting anything to a format it was never created in has had little to no added effect. We'll see though if this is any different.
On another note, nice to see where all of LG's development was during the G2X fiasco.
This came out earlier this month but has anyone come across Dragon ID? "Nuance says that its voice biometrics technology is reliable and secure enough to already be used by 'leading enterprises, carriers, banks, and government institutions' across the world." According to this article and others it won't be available for download but will be included on future devices.

I'm actually impressed by HTC's devotion to it's customers - yes, the camera issue is definitely a bummer, but obviously it blind sided them.. as far as everything else, this phone is hands down the BEST Android phone ever made IMO.. and continuous prompt updates? Nexus Smeckshush I'll stick with my front facing Beats Audio and crisp PPI, solid/gorgeous construction and Sense UI. For a struggling company HTC is doing an amazing job.

Have you seen their stock and internal turmoil lately? they NEED to show that devotion for customer retention, otherwise they will truly kick the bucket.
I have a suggestion for HTC or build in more functionality to Sense or scrap it and go straight to plane native Android UI and let people customize it how they wan't I think that its one of the things that is holding this phone (and all their future phones back)

I highly disagree. I just think HTC would allow S-OFF via HTC Dev like they do bootloader. I just converted my TMO HTC One to GPE HTC One just so I can get the latest and greatest Kit Kit when it comes out. And guess what about 90 days from now I will be converting back to TMO HTC One Stock Kit Kat.
I personally like how Sense is setup, it is fluid and minimalistic. It now has the ability to turn off Blink Feed so it is even better. I just wish HTC would give users the option to interchangeable select which OS they want without having to go through pains of making sure you can obtain a S-OFF phone.

I can say that in the middle of our disagreement I can agree with you about Sense, because that's one of the big reasons I pick HTC over any other provider. Now I do know this: everyone, everywhere says the same thing over and over "our phones are as powerful as that computer sitting on your desk" and the sad part is that it's true! But I feel that power hasn't been harnessed yet; there are so much more I feel that are phones should do and currently don't (txt and browse the web at the same time, of for that fact do anything in combination at the same time, and so much more)
And before I get slapped with the statement "Sammy does that", I know... I just feel that with the hardware we have today (which is pretty much the same across all phones, just minor difference like amounts of memory vs screen size and so on...) it wouldn't be a purchasing factor between manufactures but a standard thing in Android....

I'm still in love with my HTC One and I have no idea why it didn't have more of an impact when released.
Apparently HTC is struggling with all it's other phones, they might as well perfect one phone like they did with the One.
What does everyone think?

You're always gonna get some errors with a unofficial release. I too was running kitkat on my HTC One. The problem is the playstore. A lot of apps aren't available yet. But we don't have much longer to wait, HTC gave there software for the GPe HTC One to Google. Just have to wait for a release and a rom to be created by the great developers.
