Hi, so today has been dedicated for me to upload on youtube some videos made with fraps/3d vision on my computer, to try displaying homemade s3d clips on my Evo 3d.
So far it plays great but... with eyes reversed .... I need to flip 180 my phone to get the right image in the right eye.
Youtube 3d give or should give the ability the reverse images but it seems to be not functionnal.
Here are some links of my clips if you want to take a look.
Darksiders

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCyLZz3bjm4
Dragon Age 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYV3yUVwUNo
The witcher 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4c6RohL4Gw
Proun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyFw5iFTGK4
And if you got an idea to get the movies display correctly without flipping my phone that would be great.
Looks good on the Evo3D turned to the right..Wonder why its all messed up when rotating to the left.
I'm going to try and capture Grand Turismo 5 on my ps3 with my black magic intensity pro in 3D..

Darksiders looks incredible in 3D ... I could set up w a bowl of popcorn and just watch for hours.
Yep, 3d Vision is one of my best gaming experience on PC.
The 3d best games I played ( s3d experience) :
The witcher 2
Alice madness returns
Dragon age 1
Arcania (with community 3d patch)
Ryzom
Fallout newVegas
Proun
And more...
I'll do some clips of those, EVo 3D is a great tool to promote Stereoscopic 3D.
Awesome vids kalhohan. Makes me want to go and fork out for the nVidia 3D kit to go with my GTX 570.
Geforce 570 is what I have, and it runs smothly all the games with 3d vision in 1080p.
Just added The Witcher 2 link in first post.
Added Proun video.

Don't have a link, but have seen youtube videos, where the sprint reps say that you can sent 3D content to devices without 3D. So yeah, it will be.
+1 I heard it will it just turns off the feed from one of the cameras
thought he meant, what happens if you sent a video made in 3d to a different phone.?

It would most likely be converted to 2d just as it would if you put it onto a non 3d tv or computer
sent from anything but a iPhone

But I am wondering if it will appear double when trying to view on a non-3d device...
I'm sure it'll look "2d" to a regular pc/phone. Gleaming from the shots that were uploaded on picasa, I'm assuming they just look like lower resolution pics to the 2d crowd.
Thats a good question. Will it have the red/blue double video like non glasses free 3d devices. I will have to send a 3d video from the g-slate at work to my phone to see what it looks like. Could have different settings I guess but I would think it records the video in 3d so there wouldnt be a way to format it once its recorded to 2d. Just my opinion but I will check that out tomorrow.

to answer op's question http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/06/radio-shack-explains-how-to-turn-3d-onoff-on-htc-evo-3d.html
I'm wondering if there will be a way that I can convert my normal movies(2d) into a 3d format to watch on the phone. Anyone know of anything like this?
It is simple, If you have 3d capable you will see it 3d, if not you will see it 2d.
If you take a 3d picture and wanna share it on Facebook, it will turn
2D(I think until Facebook, make photos 3d capable on their website).
In YouTube if you upload 3d you will see it 3d. You can browse HTC YouTube site and there is The EVO 3d comercial in 2d and in 3d and you will see something like if you take the glases off in a 3d movie.
About sending 3d content I think that will depend if the phone is 3d capable or not, but if not if will convert the photo in 2d.

Read more first, then ask questions. C'mon guy. Your smarter than this.. I know it.
To clarify, I'm not talking about sharing via a service like YouTube.
I'm talking about video and photos recorded in 3d (from the cameras) and how the original file will be viewed on 2d devices. For example from my laptop if I copy the video to it.

There is a video reviews in Wirefly that shows a 2d computer running a 3d video file recorded from the EVO and it shows 2 videos in one window, like if you are playing a 2 player game in ps3

The 3d videos will deff appear in a split screen look in 2d. Check the wirefly preview of the device and ffwd to about 6:15 in the video and youll see. I would assume the same would be for pictures too.

I found more info about this Today.
I was searching in Youtube videos Review of the EVO 3D and a found what you was asking.
The phone will have in the Share option, it will ask you if you are sharing this file to a 3D or a 2D Phone...
Is about 4:25 or 4:30...
Just one question:
Can i convert 2d videos to 3D, then transfer them onto EVO 3D for playback since it support 3D playback?
Any idea?

You can't make 2D content 3D and have it noticeable. Movie studios take months to do it for 2D movies and the end result is still really crappy.

I do not know how well it works, as I am waiting to get my 3D EVO before I try it out, but there is a video conversion program called Wondershare that claims to do just what you asked.
the most important think is can you playback 3d movies (avatar 3d)on evo 3d ? if yes how to do that, how to convert?
Well, I just find this 2D to 3D Video Converter which can convert 2D video to 3D format. So i wonder if the created 3d video files can be played on EVO 3D.

What he said. I'm sure there is software out there to do it, but you're better off starting off with actual 3D content.
You're talking about taking a video shot from one perspective and somehow magically giving it depth? If there's any software to do it, I can't imagine it producing good results.
I know DvDFab does this but never tested but I will now
Well youporn has some 3D content and I doubt it was recorded using EVO 3Ds

At least we got the million dollar question out of the way before the device even officially launched
LOL but IMHO my answer to the 2D->3D question would be simply no.
A good example of this would be the movie TRON 3D
The movie was filmed in 2D, but the 3D thing was all the craze so they added 3D in the CGI portions. With the glasses on the movies special effects came to life but the characters themselves remained dull and submersed within the screen.
You can't add depth to a flat plane. You can fake it but if the data is not there you can only imagine what would have been in it's place.
It's just like walking into a museum and looking at paintings. You're not gonna see 3D because the even though the you're using two eyes to view the image. There is no depth to interpret.
YES. you can make 2D-3D and look AWESOME
Actually you can.
I have been playing around with it for a long time now for use with the Vuzix Iwear 3D glasses.
It won't let me post the link so google
3DCOMBINE
and see for yourself
Richard Scullion, nice guy, in the UK, his software is AMAZING, it takes about 3 days to convert a full length movie from 2D-3D and IT IS NOTICEABLE.
His software allows you to select the amount of depth you wish, the more depth the longer and possible worse the video gets but this is just amazing software.

I'm totally testing it now...
Very 1st attempt with no tweaking at all.... it's eye crossing.. hmmm..
Graffiti Wall
how do you open this file?
Before getting the Evo 3D I downloaded the trailer of Uncharted 3, Drake's Deception from PSN and saved it to my computer hoping it would look awesome on the Evo 3D. Now when I try to play it on there, it registers as 3D with the little icon on the gallery, but won't play and if it does it's still gittery 2D looking.
Has anyone tried this before? Theres different 3D trailers for download, and I'm disappointed that it doesn't seem to work

what kind of file is the movie as of right now? might have to convert it to work with the evo3d which one is .m4v and i do believe another is .mp4 but im not sure
the current type is mp4, but it is not the side by side SBS 3D video the image jumps back and forth it seems, if you pause it looks as if you paused 2D video, does the Evo 3D handle other types and convert to viewable on this screen? I can't find much info on what exactly plays in 3D mode on this thing lol
You MUST try this game...
It's a demo, free download from the Market: AngryBots 3D
It uses the Unity engine, and not only is it a really cool game, the 3D effects are AWESOME... Best I've seen so far!
Graphics are well done.
The 3D isn't the best I've seen but it does look good.
Performance is acceptable. It doesn't lag or chop around like some gameloft games in 3D.
The game does seem like it could be fun if the controls weren't nearly broken.. they are so bad it makes the game unplayable. :-(
Might have to check it out...
Sent from my 3D on Boosted
EDIT: Downloaded the 2D version. LOL
Looks okay. Controls are a little odd. I would have preferred an FPS or 3PS point of view with those controls. Not good enough for me to be anything but a 3D demo.
Mike
You might all remember the cool video HTC showed us quite some time ago; HTC EVO 3D - First Look
The video was hosted on YouTube in normal and anaglyph format. I wondered if that video could be converterd to a true 3D video (stereoscopic that is). There is quite some software available to convert anaglyph to stereo, but it took me a lot of converting and rendering hours to find out the best way to conserve the 1080p quality. Anyway, here's the result:
PS: watch on your EVO 3D with the YouTube app!
Grayscale version: (best quality)
Colored version: (combined the grayscale with the original for 50%)
Original colored from HTC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSuD45mRl_o
Original Anaglyph from HTC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBHRHgjEAjg
